The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is a bewildering device. On the one hand, it is beautifully designed and engineered. It is as thin as a smartphone. They keyboard is a pleasure to type on. The 4K OLED touchscreen is jaw-dropping. With a quad core/eight-thread Intel 10th generation i5 CPU coupled with 8GB of RAM, there is ample computing horsepower on tap. But... On tap for what, though, exactly? You still end up running ChromeOS, which is very fast and very good for light tasks, which happen to be the ONLY tasks you can actually do with ChromeOS. You're limited it what a Chromebook can do, so while the i5 has vastly more power than the low end CPUs that typically end up in Chromebooks that go for 75% less, I'm not sure it has that much more to do. So while the Chromebook is lightning fast for everything you do, that's not a real difference here, because all Chromebooks feel very snappy for web browsing, Google Docs, etc. There are some elements here to mitigate that here. First, since this has a touch screen and can fold over 360 degrees into a tablet mode, there is support for the Android Play Store and its apps. Not every app will work, but it does expand the possibilities. Likewise, for the niche of people who would use it, there is a Linux mode designed for software development work. While this is a foldable 360 degree convertible device, I suspect most people will use it 90% of the time or more in laptop mode. And I am happy to say that Samsung has designed a fine keyboard to type on. The trackpad is also solid. As previously noted, it's very fast, with a 256GB SSD, which is way more storage space than is typically provided in a Chromebook. You can also expand via micro-SD card. But if you've used a Chromebook before, I don't think you're going to experience a vast gulf in typical snappiness. The OLED screen is gorgeous, with perfect contrast, good brightness, and saturated (maybe too saturated) colors. On 3 sides, it has tiny bezels that are almost non-existent. The bottom bezel is enormous though. The screen is a 16:9 ratio, which I tend to think of as too short for productivity and I prefer 16:10 or 3:2. But 16:9 is of course perfect for *consumption* since modern HD shows and movies use that format. The pen works well for sketching and note-taking and tucks away easily into a port on the side. In my limited experience with it, I did not find it to have any lag when drawing/writing. The included fingerprint reader is a nice touch and was very easy to set up. It's very fast as well. This device can get hot. I'm positive it's fan-less given the silent operation and thin chassis. But after a 45 minute Zoom conference call, the bottom where the ventilation is was uncomfortably hot to the touch. The charger is large than I would have expected. There are two USB-C ports (one on each side) and the device uses one of the ports for charging. Charging is a little slower than I would have liked. Which leads us to perhaps the biggest knock on this device... Battery life. That i5 CPU and big bright 4K screen come at a very significant cost in battery life. You'll definitely want to turn down brightness to coax more time out of the battery charge. Those of you used to Chromebooks that sip power and get 8 to 10 hours out of charge are likely not going to find that here. Just typing with a web browser open and at max brightness, Chrome is reporting 87% battery left and just under 3.5 hours of use left. That's be overall about 4-5 hours on a charge, which seems about right. Not terrible by any means, but far less than what is often common among Chromebooks. To recap my original point: it's a bewildering device. The build quality is top-notch. The specs are class-leading. Yet you're saddled with a limited OS, and in some ways, those high end specs negate some of the positives of having such a limited OS (battery life). It's a bit like buying a Ferrari Laferrari just to do your grocery runs. I found myself at times wishing I could put Windows on it, because with these specs, it'd still fly and yet be able to do so much more.

This chromebook was great until the trackpad stops working 5-10min after every time I restart the computer. This issue is irreparable and I have already tried all the problem solving guide samsung and google have instructed. Too bad this issue started occurring a month after my 1 year warranty.

I wish I could say this is a great product but I just can't! It had everything I was looking for a great touch display, awesome convertible design and chrome os!! I bought it to replace my current acer windows laptop which is good but just overkill for my needs. The issue that seems to plague these according to numerous online reviews is overheating which ends up creating issues with the touchpad. A little while after using the chromebook it starts to get hot and the touch pad will stop working. You can turn off the laptop and let it cool off but once you turn it back on a few minutes of use the same overheating/track pad issue will return.

It is a great chromebook deal, especially for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on buying a new computer/ laptop. I really like the design of it, how I didn’t have to spend a lot of time transferring my information and data into it since I just login into my gmail account and everything gets transferred into the chromebook.

I'm really frustrated. Using this for Zoom and Google Meets has been a failure. For whatever reason, the connectivity when on VC is terrible. I tested with other devices (ipad, macbook, windows pc) without any issue. My internet connection is 1tb/s from xfinity and I use wifi6 routers/mesh (netgear Orbis). I tried to reach out to Samsung customer support for assistance and have been on hold for hours without a response. Their chat function is the same - you just sit on hold waiting for someone to respond. A lot of people use chromebooks for their children's school - which is why I made this purchase. Completely useless given the poor wifi, which seems like a HW issue that I cannot resolve.
