However, my wife really uses it, and Samsung changed it's layout to differ from all the other numeric keyboards, so it is very frustrating to have to get used to that layout only for this laptop. Had to return it.

Samsung provides a 12-month warranty for manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. If your Samsung PC's touchpad is not working, it may simply be locked or disabled. There is an easy way to unlock it and get the touchpad working again. If that doesn't do the trick, resetting the driver or installing updates could help. If all else fails, try a factory reset.
