Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Galaxy S8's camera, long battery life, user-friendly interface, and reasonable price point. They appreciate that the phone is unlocked, allowing them to use it with any carrier. Some users find the phone to be fragile and slippery, and dislike the pre-installed software (bloatware).

I have very bad experience with this phone, it has network incompatibility with several providers. Very difficult to connect a call on this phone even if network is there. I won't recommend anyone to buy this.

Usual Samsung, little updates for Unlocked version

In typical Samsung fashion, they are not updating this model the way they themselves update the locked phones. Why ? They won't say, but be warned, asking people to spend $900 on a phone with no regular updates is not a good way to do business.

    Good Phone, but breaks easily

I love the features and camera on the new phone, but the glass screen IS VERY FRAGILE. Mine fell 2 feet off nightstand to carpeted floor and cracked one month after I bought it. It costs almost $300 to replace it. They said it was gorilla glass, but not the way it cracked! Avoid this phone until they can put a better glass in it

I recently bought the Sony Xperia XZPremium and then ended up having to retun it because it stopped working. I picked up the S8 in exchange and dont like it. Many of my issues are relatively minor, but Samsung does not listen to customers, and after I found these problems and looked up the internet, others have complained about some of these too- and no solutions yet I also have a samsung tablet S2 that runs the same version of android and after a recent update you cannot turn off (power off) the phone or tablet without entering your PIN. Unlike the iphone on the samsung devices you also have to hit OK after you enter your 6 digit PIN- so more finger clicks. I can understand having to enter the PIN to login, but to have to enter it when you power off is just plain annoying I recently emailed myself a meeting itinerary that was sent weeks ago, so that it is available at the top of my emails and I wouldn't have to search for it. So I forwarded myself the email with the PDF attachment but the attachment did not come through- I deleted and tried again 2 times with the same results. This is unacceptable If you select a recorded video from the gallery, it starts to autoplay and keeps looping and this is so annoying- there simply seems to be no way to turn this off The active phone call screen has also been very unstable for me. On a phone call, there are only 3 or 4 buttons that are used most frequently - speakerphone, end call, and mute. On some occasions I cant find the speaker phone button when in the middle of the call I wake up the phone screen, and on many occasions I have to hunt for the end-call button or simply let the call die after the person at the other end hangs up I feel the phone sound quality is also not great; the speaker is in the lower right corner, the speaker enclosure easily gets buried on your clothes/ belly etc this results in an almost total muting/ muffling of the sound I am going to try this out for another few days, but am definitely leaning towards returning this.

Great Phone but Screen Burn-In a Major Issue

    Posted .

I bought this phone last June 2017. Love the phone overall and was very impressed by the vivid OLED screen. Started playing a game where a banner was on the screen continuously. The banner and a few other areas have burned into the screen. I have not seen screen burn in since Plasma screens years ago. This is extremely disapponting. I tried an APP designed to reverse the burn-in by constantly rotating the screen between red, blue and green. Been running for 2 days and no change to the burn-in. I don't know what the solution is, but Samsung has to re-thing using this type of screen. Other than the burn-in, it is a great phone.

Was making payments at Bestbuy for this phone for a year now. Takes great pictures, and holds enough space for me. However, the battery life is absolutely horrible. I had to switch it out multiple times for the battery life, and also people on the other line not being able to hear me through speaker phone. I will leave the house for work, and 15 mins later after just talking on the phone it will be 10% less. I was told it must just be the generation of phone I invested it. Of course a refurbished phone will not be the best, but was not expecting to have it charged almost every half an hour.

DO NOT BUY THIS UNLOCKED VERSION

    Posted .

DON'T DO IT! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! As an owner of the US unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge (G935U), take it from me, you do not want this phone. Updates are virtually nonexistent with this phone! We FINALLY received the 7.0 update just last week! Not 7.1, or 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 - they gave us 7.0! Every carrier received the update WAAYYYY before the unlocked version. Most carriers started pushing the update in December! And security updates? Hah! That's a joke! At one point we were 4 MONTHS BEHIND on the monthly Security Patch. They actually told us to STOP USING SAMSUNG PAY if we were concerned about security because they were so far behind with this model! THAT WAS THEIR SOLUTION! TO STOP USING A MAIN FUNCTION OF THE PHONE!! Owners of the US unlocked versions (G935U - S7 Edge, G930U - S7) bought the phone assuming we would at least receive timely updates based on the fact of no carrier involvement. We were even told that we would receive the updates before carrier branded versions because they could bypass the carriers. No such luck. We were promised monthly Security Patches according to their website - http://security.samsungmobile.com/introsm.html - only to never receive them. When asked where our updates were, we were given answers of 'Soon', 'In a week', 'In a few weeks' - never to actually receive them. If you don't believe me, please check Samsung's own US Support Forum to read the THOUSANDS of posts from furious S7 and S7 Edge owners. Here's just a sampling... https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Product-Updates/Announcement-Nougat-Security-Updates-for-Unlocked-S7-Edge/td-p/79935 https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S-Phones/S7-G930U-G935U-Security-Updates/td-p/47620 https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S-Phones/Nougat-Update-Unlocked-S7/td-p/61291 There are many more threads on the forum concerning the issue. Please read them BEFORE you purchase this phone. I was a huge fan of Samsung before this fiasco but after shelling out a premium for a flagship phone and then getting the shaft, never again. Phone breaks after a year

I loved this phone. Until it started getting screen burn a few days after it's one year anniversary. I mailed it to Samsung to fix it and they did. Then, a few weeks later, the cameras stopped working. I have not dropped the phone or abused it in any way. Once again, I have to be a week without a phone while they try to repair it. Next phone will not be a Samsung.

At the beginning, I was happy when I got the s8. For months; I enjoy using the phone and I still do. But I soonly, I started to see small thin-line scratches all over the screen and its lags alot . What tha f***?!! Samsung!! A phone that cost more than my rent shouldn't get any scratches that easily. And I'm very careful were I put my phone in or out of my pockets. I do don't recommend this phone to any of my friends or family members.

There's nothing like having a broke down Ford Focus engine inside of a Porsche body. The voice to text is rediculously bad and unusable The fingerprint scanner, was put there as an afterthought trying to be like Apple. If you have put up with android OS for long enough, you can probably say it's a good phone. But, that's just because you don't know what you're missing. I guess if you only use the phone to watch videos and play games, I guess it's good for something.

I came in a store to buy a ZTE Axon 7 64gb 4g LTE, but was told by the clerks they could not order or get the phone I wanted shipped. So, they pushed the Samsung Galaxy S8+ on me. I spent weeks researching the ZTE. In a matter of minutes, I was getting a top of the line (they said) phone, that I had no clue about. I was extremely disappointed! The phone which is the most important part of the smartphone is very weak with poor sound quality. I even downloaded apps to help with the sound! Let's all remember a smartphone is a phone first. If you buy a phone, you want the phone to be clear with totally awesome sound quality. It's not! The bells and whistles are nice, but I am wanting the cellphone part to be of the best quality. I had the Samsung Galaxy S8+ for a total of 8 days. Don't break the bank buying a smartphone! My next smartphone cost half the cost! Ironically, the same day I took the Galaxy back I found my ZTE Axon 7 64gb 4g LTE at another Best Buy. These clerks were not kids and not inexperienced. So, when my ZTE arrives via mail, I hope to write a much more friendlier review. The only thing wrong with that purchase now; so far, is the color. They only had gold in stock and I wanted grey. As long as the only problem is with the color and not the sound of the phone, I think I could live with that problem.
