decent small mid-sized tablet

It lags a little compared to my iPad Air (1st gen) and my friend's iPad mini (1st gen). It also seems a little less responsive than my Samsung Galaxy Note5. I received this as an AT&T promotion.

Galaxy tab4

It is very hard to use it in the dark I called my service provider and they said to take it back to have it replace.. I contacted Samsung but they couldn't help me fast enough and I had to cut the chat. I still want to know why it doesn't work. I would recommend to a friend if is taken care.
