I love the s pen, love how the tablet detects the stylus when you pull it out of the slot and return it to the slot for storage as well. The screen is sharp and bright. Wish it had more internal storage though.

I like my 10" tablet. It is very nice and easy to use. I like the notes app, as I can put notes down and then later rewrite my story. I had a 8" tablet before.

It was very easy to transfer my info from my phone to the tab. I use it a lot for art work so the pen is a real must. The battery seems to hold well.

    Physical flaws and odd dimensions

I purchased this tablet having had good experiences in the past with the Tab A line. Software was relatively snappy but not blazing which is fine for the level and price point. The new Tab A dimensions, making it longer than previous editions was odd and I wasn’t sure if I liked that or not. The tablet also seemed to weigh quite a bit which was another factor I was weighing. Ultimately though as I held the tablet I noticed a small nick in the metal along the side where you’d typically hold the tablet. This was within 24 hours of my purchase. I gave it to my son to see if I was being overly sensitive and he actually found a second which sealed the deal. I returned the tablet at that point. I wanted to like it and tons of others found these to be what they were looking for. It just wasn’t for me. I’d suggest to really give a display model the once over before committing. I’d still recommend this tablet but with those caveats in place.

    Write with device off

First time galaxy tab owner here. I have actually used the device a lot with it off. To explain, one can remove the pen then write a note on the screen. Device is a drop wide though not too heavy, though has weight. Purchased a bamboo smart pen that works on this device, very nice though for quick entires just use the flat S pen. Using the free OneNote app for to do list though using friendly onscreen keyboard for entry. Seems the Samsung notes app is not as good as the one used on their S pen phone devices and little in the way of a user manual for taking notes. You have to hover, believe, on hand writte notes to have it convert to typed text. Got mine on sale for $100 off though even then that was a bit of change to me. So far happy based on price paid. Get a cover for it on sale.

Recently bought a Samsung s8 and wanted to try this pad. It is really nice and the size and price was great. It came with a pen which I like very much.

Bought this tablet strictly for field inspection work via a download app that I use in conjunction with the base program on my PC. Love the S Pen, I use it constantly writing notes and entering text fields on the program. I take all necessary photos, sketches through my sketch program, and all other data, either through text, note or voice. For my needs I am very satisfied with the Galaxy. This one has the 10.1 inch screen for those (aheem!) a little more visibly challenged. I titled "Has worked great so far." as I've only had this a couple of months now.

Samsung did a great job with this tablet, as they produced a solid combination of screen size, resolution, and camera quality. The operating system can be annoying in that the system shuts off randomly, and requires a fresh start-up to use again. If this was prevalent on a phone, this would be more of an issue. The other issue is the internal storage which cannot be increased. Even with the addition of an SD Card, most apps, music, and videos are required to be located on the 16gb internal storage :(.

I had tablets when they first broke on the scene (iPad and, later, Nexus) but after my last one stopped working years ago I gave up on tablets. However, now that the styluses are far superior to the blunt rubber nubs of the early generation, I returned and couldn't be happier. Although not as elite as the new iPads or the high-end Samsung tablets, this tablet has been exceptional, especially for someone who reads and edits PDFs all the time. The expandable memory is also a welcome feature and, as a result, I've been converted to an avid Samsung consumer.

The system was snappy responsive, everything ran great on it, but the way the S Pen rubbed against the screen surface made the hairs on the back of my neck rise. It has just this slight friction to it in just the wrong way. Disappointing to say the least. It was a great tablet, and I had to return it for my hair's sake.

A larger screen coupled with the "S" pen makes this a very easy tablet to use. Hardly any learning curve even if one were a novice in tablets.

Great battery life. This tablet has replaced all others I have based on ease of use and capabilities. I prefer using this tab over my iPad air 2.
