Big Step Down from Previous 2017 Tab A Model

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My daughter has the 2017 model and I decided to pick up the 2018 model for our other daughter, I thought it would be an upgrade, but I was wrong! Why would Samsung downgrade the newer version to a micro-USB port? The 2017 model uses USB-C, which is convenient since all Samsung Galaxy phones past 2 years have USB-C. No way I can have two tablets that look similar having different chargers, plus our phones use Type-C so it was always convenient to have any charger handy. My second complaint is they got rid of the Home button. If Samsung had shrunk the bezel as a result I'd still question it, but they left the bezel exactly the same yet with no button! What's the point in looking at a blank slate? My kids love the home button because it's easier to get out of apps rather than swiping up from the button to find the software keys. This is a fail. I ended up returning and buying an open box 2017 model for $20 more. It's worth it!

Screen resolution is very mediocre on the tablet, even though it is a 1280 x 800 display. Tablet is very slow to open apps, install apps. Keyboard pulls up very sluggish. It still uses a micro USB plug, not type USB-C. I was originally going to use it for my DSLR as a remote but the tablet can barely handle that work as well. Only purpose was for that.

Very slow

I understood it wouldn't be a very fast device, but with no other apps running (just apple music) it would sometimes lag enough so that it stream songs. It wasn't very expensive but it was still not very useful.
