Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Galaxy Tab S4's stunning screen quality, impressive battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the inclusion of the S Pen and find the tablet's performance to be excellent. While some wish for a lower price point and more RAM, the expandable storage is a welcome feature for many users. A few users mentioned concerns about the lack of a fingerprint reader and the sound quality of the speakers.

    Top notch multimedia tablet

I upgraded from a Fire HD 10 to this thing and I have to say it is a top notch entertainment device. I think Samsung really missed out by placing it in the work device category with its advertising, and they're getting roasted in press reviews that wanted a work laptop replacement. Why design a 16:10 tablet and then target the 3:2/4:3 market? There is a large market willing to pay premium for a OLED tablet for watching movies, reading comics, or whatever and the Tab S4 hits it. + 10.5" OLED tablet with the same quality as the Galaxy S9, but the identical 112% DCI-P3 coverage is insane saturation on a larger device. Eye popping is an apt description. + Adaptive display mode on max warm setting with 80% red, 100% green, and 0% blue produces a very pleasing white point. Default is too blue IMO. + 16:10 ratio is great for books/comics and webpages in portrait, and videos in landscape. A quicker way to enable/disable rotation would be good. + Thin and light for a 10.5" device, comfortable to hold with one hand. + 4 speakers of decent quality. Headphone are better though + Comes with a pen, but I don't use it + Fast internal storage + Expandable SD card storage + 7300mAh battery lasts forever + Has a 3.5mm jack = SD835 processor is fast enough for aforementioned uses. = Glass backpanel is grippy and easy to hold. Some of you may prefer metal. = I prefer to use this in portrait except during videos, but the charge port and headphone port are on the bottom. Low-slung tablet stands will not work. = No way to store the pen, that I don't use, without buying a $70 cover. - Uses last generation Snapdragon instead of the latest SD845. Shame! - Only 4GB RAM - Apps (cough YouTube/Amazon) need to add support for HDR on the Tab S4 - No fingerprint sensor, face recognition/iris scan impossible to use when slouched over upside down on the couch If you saw this review on Amazon, it's because I wrote it there too in response to some megaderps that dinged the Wifi version for lacking LTE.

As far as the upgrade path of Samsung Galaxy Tab S series, in many ways this is a wortwhile upgrade. The screen is much nicer than my Tab S2/S3 perhaps due to removal of physical home button. The tablet seems responsive (quick). I was a tad bit upset (minus one star) when one of my important apps which uses a fingerprint reader (it was restored from backup on tablet startup) seemed to crash every time it got to the login screen -- my best guess is that this was where the fingerprint sign in prompt used to be and this tablet is missing that feature it appears. On a strong positive, I tested out the DeX mode (desktop like mode) and loved the experience on a tablet, it feels like you're working a laptop but with access to existing tablet apps. On a slight negative note though, with DeX you may want (and in my experience, in general i like to have) a keyboard case, and since that is not included, at the time of writing i had to choose between one Best Buy carries from the manufacturer (not in current budget) or a generic one which would ship from overseas and require waiting a month (I haven't done either) -- I won't deduct another star for this though, because this is a new tablet and more options should be available eventually. The facial recognition does seem to work fairly well either in potrait or landscape (too often i block scanner in landscape with left hand). The Daily Board seems to be a cool feature which i have to explore more, it can be used when the tablet is charging and seems to display either gallery images (in motion) or time/day/weather. Oh, one more negative in my opinion: There is no obvious place to store the pen, it doesn't attach anywhere obvious, and maybe it's supposed to be a function of the case, but as-is the pen is nice but WILL get lost or go unused without a place to carry it.

Great tablet at a fair price

I am not a fan of any OS system. Ive had them all currently I have the ipad Pro 10.5 and this, the Tab S4. Dont know why people call it expensive, you dont buy premium to whine about price, buy a cheaper one then. This is about the same price as the iPad Pro 10.5 when it came out, such is life. There are plenty of cheap android tablets. This one is gorgeous, smooth, the keyboard feels premium and the keys as nice and...clicky. If you like android, you cant go wrong with this one. And lets also consider that this one comes with the stylus ($100 for an apple pencil, now thats expensive). I do also love my ipad pro 10.5. Compared to it, the screen on the Tab S4 is narrower and taller (in portrait mode). I love drawing and painting, and while the ipad has the best software, and the pencil is fast and responsive, I somehow prefer the S-pen (hard to say why, preference I guess). I highly suggest the keyboard case as it protects front and back. A lot of the reviews that have given this tablet a bad score are reviewing it based on what is not, and not by its merits. Its a premium tablet with and big and beautifull screen, awesome sound, moderm design, expansive storage and includes a 4k level pressure stylus made by Wacom!!! It also runs on an OS that can double as a production PC with mouse support. So quit the whining and buy it, before companies stop making android tablets altogether by lack of support.

The case is ok, a down side is the the way that it is put on, it is held on by a suction cup and magnets not what traditional cases used in the past.

This tablet is a revelation! It is everything that I hoped it would be. Light, wonderfully designed, easy to use, and powerful. The interface is familiar and quick to understand and downloads are plentiful. The camera is quite good and the accompanying pen is responsive and picks up a great amount of detail (the pen is so much fun!). If you are in the market for a tablet, this one should definitely be considered.

This is a great tablet that can handle all of your entertainment needs and can also double as a productivity device. I bought this at Best Buy and I am still figuring out all of the features (so many). The tablet's display is stunning...Samsung is known for this and they did not disappoint with the picture quality and sharpness of the screen with the Tab S4. This makes watching any streaming service enjoyable, as well as editing and viewing photos. I am coming from the tab S2 and I can also say that the battery is significantly better. I bought this thing on Saturday, charged it to full, watched 2 movies, 4 shows, typed discussion boards for school, and it still has 68% battery. This was with automatic brightness enabled, and a Bluetooth mouse being paired...pretty solid. If you are wanting to use this for work/school then you MUST invest in the keyboard. It performs very well and protects the tablet too. Now the big thing here to mention is that the Tab S4 has a new desktop mode called DEX. This will convert the tablet into a desktop view that makes it feel more like Chrome OS. You can run multiple apps at once and it is easier to navigate versus standard android. Android and Chrome OS are getting better at replacing windows machines every day, so if you only need the basic Microsoft Apps (word, powerpoint, onenote, etc...) this tablet can do that, along with all of the Google Office apps as well (sheets, keep, etc..). If you are wondering about the included stylus, wonder no more...it is VERY responsive and easy to write with. Yes, I said INCLUDED stylus not a $100 add-on like the surface pen, apple pencil, and google pen. Thank you, Samsung. If I had to complain about anything it would be, well, nothing. It does exactly what I want it to and I bought it with the intention of being a powerful, sexy, tablet that is outstanding for entertainment and proficient in basic computing tasks.
