Many appreciate the inclusion of the S Pen and find the tablet's performance to be excellent. While some wish for a lower price point and more RAM, the expandable storage is a welcome feature for many users. A few users mentioned concerns about the lack of a fingerprint reader and the sound quality of the speakers.

Upgrading from a Galaxy Tab S that I have had for three years, I am happy with the improved speed and features. Battery life is great, performance is wonderful and I enjoy using the S-Pen. The keyboard and the Dex desktop are very nice to use with productivity type apps. Lower price is always a good thing but I do not mind paying for quality.

This is a good tablet, a nice step up for the galaxy line. This tab still has some quirks though. Whats in the box: The tab, S-pen, charger and charging cable. Design: While this tablet looks nice, it does have a cheap feel to it. I honestly thought the glass on the back was a plastic protective cover, after I spent some time trying to peel it off, I realized that it was, in fact, the back glass. It just doesn't have a super solid feel to it. Features: Sound, the sound is great. multiple speakers allow for good sound no matter how you're holding it. S-pen: I like the S-pen. No need to charge the pen, at all. The pen does though, feel a bit cheap and rattles a bit. I don't have much use for the pen. Some of the features are nice, such as hovering over the right hand part of the tab and having a pen specific menu pop up automatically. facial recognition and iris scanning unlock: needs work. A lot of work. This hardly works. I wear glasses, and you have to be very specific if you're wearing them or not. Even so, it works maybe 1/4 of the time. I find myself getting frustrated and tapping on the screen until it lets me type in my code. This alone is very frustrating Screen: gorgeous. colors and brightness are great, very clear and a nice size. Touch responsive is good. Nothing magical, but good. Samsung "DeX" mode: This is one of the main features of this tablet, that I just don't see the use for, even if it worked well. This just seems like a feature they wanted to have, so they patched it together to work. When you are in this mode, it is supposed to act like a desktop, which I just don't get. I'm not going to lug around a bluetooth mouse to use with this. You don't HAVE to use a mouse, but without one whats the point of making all the icons tiny and hard to touch? Also, this thing gets laggy when in this mode. It takes multiple touches to close windows, and even some of the basic android apps pre-installed on the device aren't designed for DeX mode. I've used this mode just a couple times, and couldn't figure out why it even existed. This is one of the main touted features, and it just doesn't deliver. Apps tend to crash a lot. Now, some of this will be able to be fixed with software updates, but as of now, it is just "half baked" Overall: It is nice, but not worth the price. I would recommend another tablet.

I first thought it would be just like my S3, but, to my surprise, there are quite a few improvements over last years model; works fine without the keyboard cover, so unless you really need that, save your money.. I really like the "soft"home key, and it didn't take me long to use it naturally Even though it is also heavier than the S3, battery life is a lot better A nice update from the S3, but, if you are happy with your S3, you may not find this to be a significant improvement All in All I like it alot, and, if you dont currently own an S3, this is definately worth buying!

    I love this tablet!!

The tablet was everything I was looking for. I like Samsung products, so it was no surprise that I was immediately drawn to this tablet. My favorite part is Dex mode. I like the option of having it like a laptop with several windows open. I got the keyboard to go with it and it makes using the tablet so much easier. I do have smaller hands, so the keyboard is fitting for me. The screen is beautiful. I like the widescreen vs more of a traditional square shape. Makes watching videos more enjoyable. The sound is pretty good for a tablet. The S-Pen is easy to use. The only thing is you can't use the hover mode on Dex mode, only on regular tablet mode. But that wasn't a deal breaker for me. Overall, this tablet is amazing. I can't compare it to an iPad because I don't own any Apple products, but from what I've seen on videos and articles, they're very identical, just depends on what your needs are. Apple does have a lot more apps, but that wasn't enough to sway me the other way. And people have complained that this uses the older Snapdragon 835 processor... Maybe I'm not too tech savvy but for browsing, social media, videos, and some multi-tasking, older doesn't necessarily mean slower. It is still pretty fast! Would I recommend? Yes, I definitely would!

The best tablet. I purchased this tablet in 2019 and here we are in 2023 it still works perfectly like just out of the box. I'm a hands down Samsung user and this tablet works wonders. I love it so much I wont even upgrade.

I upgraded from the S2 8". This tablet is pretty decent from what I'm used to. The processors are pretty fast with little to no lag but the chip set installed is the same as the Galaxy S8 and the S8 plus. I got the 64Gb of internal memory version and expandable up to 400 Gb externally. I like the multiple app feature as well as the stereo external speakers. I'm not much for using the S pen, which is included. Its a cool feature but I really don't care for it. USB-C is the connection and supports quick charge. The battery is definitely bigger with 7,300mAh capacity but the tablet itself is bigger. To be honest, I didn't really find that much of a difference from my previous tablet other than what I have just mentioned. Everything looks the pretty much the same. I thought after 2 generations, this tablet would have a lot more features other than performance. To me, the price for this tablet isn't justified.

    Great Alternative to iPad (mostly)

I like to do illustrations with tablets and I actually prefer Samsung's S Pen technology to iPad with one caveat. As long as one is doing low res images the S4 can handle it with no problem however any illustration larger than 1080p resolution and the tablet chokes up or severely lowers the layers one can work with. Also Samsung needs to work on their face recognition technology as it appears to only work about half of the time. Other than that, the screen is absolutely gorgeous and the sound quality is superb. If all you need to do is play multimedia and take the occasional note or doodle, then go for the S4, especially if it's on discount.

Very nice S4. It might be last year's model but what you get with the price it's pretty good. I don't understand the 'experts' reviews. It's quick and responsive and the color is beautiful and the sound. And don't forget the s pen nothing better. I like to draw I know I'm a beginner but the s pen is responsive as heck. I haven't tried DeX yet but looking forward to it.

It's a big step up from my Tab S3 which was a disaster, it was painfully slow, the processor and the camera were eqaul to a $30 dollar smartphone. The Tab S4 I have to say has very fast processor, comes with a stylus pen that feels quality and gives you a chance to become an artist with the built in app penup. It's beautiful Gorilla Glass screen gives off a life like color. I like to take it out of its case once in a while and hold because it has such a high quality feel to it. My only complaints are the camera is no better than the tab S3 which was very disappointing. Especially because its price is pretty substantial, and also galaxy themes, I've complained to Samsung numerous times about that it is not compatible with galaxy themes unlike there smartphones. So your stuck with the theme and icons it comes with indefinitely. : (

    Best iPad(Apple) Alternative

If you want the best tablet for performance, all critics rate the iPad Pro on top...but what if you prefer the flexibility of Android OS on your tablet instead? I feel that is where this tablet sits. Let's face it, the market for Android tablets sucks. Only a handful of real contenders our there, this being one of them. So far it has proven to meet all my needs. Besides the entertainment ingestion I get from it, it has served all my other needs as well. Great choice if you are in the market for a "Android" tablet. Side Note: I bought it mainly to run Zwift on it runs it very well, just like my Macbook Pro at home. The KB cover is good too, for typing on the couch or in bed.

    Way, Way Better Than Expected

This tablet is way better than all of the reviews are saying. If you set your expectations right and understand that this probably can't replace your main computer - But can be a great secondary machine, you will be very very happy with this. Definitely blows away the iPad in terms of what it can do. Very pleased.
