Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Galaxy Tab S4's stunning screen quality, impressive battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the inclusion of the S Pen and find the tablet's performance to be excellent. While some wish for a lower price point and more RAM, the expandable storage is a welcome feature for many users. A few users mentioned concerns about the lack of a fingerprint reader and the sound quality of the speakers.

I like how it comes with the S Pen. Dex mode with the keyboard book cover and a good Bluetooth mouse ups my productivity in class and allows me to multitask without bringing in a bigger laptop.

    Not What I Expected

I truly tried to switch from my 2017 iPad Pro to this Samsung tablet, but I was gravely disappointed. I watched the official device release conference sponsored by Samsung and felt that this would be exactly what I need. Nope. For complete disclosure, I love Android and Windows. I am not a fan of Apple products, except for my iPad that doesn't decently well. I own several Samsung products (camera, rob vacuum, Note 8, 360 cameras, etc). So obviously, I do not have a biased vendetta. I'll keep it brief, 1) the speakers were atrocious, 2) S Pen is not as ergonomic as the S Pen with the Note 8, and 3) the keyboard is finicky and disturbs my workflow. * I am very tech savvy and tried to fix all these issues but to no avail. 1) I bought TWO TABLETS and both had subpar speakers. They had no bass and were just unbearable for a near $1000 product. Comparing the speakers to my iPad was just ridiculous. I strongly believe both of my devices were defective because I would like to believe Samsung did not intend to produce such horrible products. 2) The button on the S Pen is easily pressed and cause the relevant menu to pop up disturbing the workflow. The features are definitely nice and useful, WHEN I WANT THEM. Others may not have the same issue, but I did. 3) The keyboard is not operational by Bluetooth, thus once it's disconnected, it no longer works with the tablet. This is very annoying because it reduces the flexibility of usage potentials. Also, there were times when it dislodged very slightly. Once that occurs, it stops any work and causes the tablet to readjust and forced me to RESIGN INTO THE TABLET. I had my hopes high and was ready to sell my iPad, but I'm stuck with it until further notice.

    Some irritating issues

The screen touch sensitivity is all over the map. There are times when I really have to bang on the screen with my finger and then there are times when I don't even have to touch the icon but just get near it and things start opening. One example: while filling out this form I am to hit a button to either recommend to a friend or not. I had to hit the button four times before it finally highlighted. Other than these irritating issues it seems to be a good tablet. The only reason I bought it is because the battery in my S2 wouldn't hold a charge anymore

A ton packed into this little tablet. Far superior to my last few Ipads at half the price with an available compact keyboard/case. Doesn't get much better for a tablet.

Purchased On Sale plus received the Student Deal price reduction for my Granddaughter. Screen & response time is fine but the device would continue to drop my ATT Uverse Modem WiFi connection less then 25 ft. away regardless of how i held the tablet to prevent any antenna obstruction. With DL & UL internet speeds of 35 down & 12 up all my other devices work just fine. Turned OFF the Device Scanning so it would not to try connecting to nearby connections but that did not work either. Returned this Tab S4 the next day and purchased the new 2019 Samsung Tab A 10.1 128 gb version. It works Flawlessly and is highly suggested for folks that do not need a Stylus Pen.

do not buy for DEX productivity

I had the Tab A10.1 SPen, the Tab S3 and liked both though I always felt the S3 was a decadent purchase (more than 2x the A10.1 SPen). Samsung indicated that the DEX solution was available in the S4 without a dock and I thought it was finally worth the expense. DEX is terrible in the S4. Sure, you get a nice interface with a mouse pointer, but on a 10" screen it is painfully small for productive purposes in that environment. So hook up another screen (the best part of DEX) and what do you get? Screen cloning--that's it. Not a "second screen" but screen cloning. With the Samsung phone, using the DEX dock, you can still use the phone for other purposes. But there is no DEX dock for the S4, so you have no other choice but screen cloning. Terrible. A half baked solution. I reached out to Samsung and they apologized for my being disappointed. Right, thanks. I couldn't believe it. Did they think this was an acceptable solution? How could they? I returned it, bought the A7" on sale ($100), bought the Surface Pro tablet, and I couldn't be happier. I spent a couple of hundred more and now have blazing productivity and a (cheap but sufficient) tablet. I cannot imagine ever going back. I think this segment of the market is quickly fading to oblivion, and I understand why. OEMs dont know what their users want, are only partially paying attention to what other products offer, and are throwing darts with blinders on. If you want to spend $700 to watch movies in your lap, you can still do better with another product. If you must have a Droid solution, I feel your pain, because until now I was right there with you. But like driving stick, the technological downsides now clearly outweigh the upsides.
