My reaction after wearing this is.. bleh.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Price is great, but that's about it. If they made this thing bigger with a stronger processor, then heck yeah! Noticable lag on software compared to the Galaxy Watch line. Too small, not for guys, this thing is a ladies watch. I ended up returning this and got the Galaxy Watch 46mm instead.

Great watch but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let start out this review by saying this watch is fantastic. The price point is perfect, the size is great, and it truly matches up to its "active" name. I purchased this watch because it's smaller than all of the other Galaxy watches and has a fitness focus which I tend to exploit tremendously in the gym. It syncs beautifully with my Note 9 and I have no issues without the rotating bevel. My ONLY issue, which happens to be a major one, is durability. I pre-ordered the watch and picked it up in the evening Friday. I wore it all day Saturday to the gym and to run errands. After the gym I was happy to see there were no scratches or dings, especially since either babied the watch the entire time. As the day went on, the face already has a scratch in the center. It is not a large scratch but it can still be seen and felt. It's important to note that I babied the watch the ENTIRE day. It's unfortunate because if the watch scratches that easily throughout regular day wear I am extremely concerned wearing it in the gym. Still a great watch with awesome features, but the durability is why I give it two stars.

Like most Samsung products, not worth the hype
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It looks beautiful, which is why I bought it. A friend of mine had it and I admired it. However, the battery dies so fast. You have to charge it every night. My husband had a fitbit Charge and he could go almost a week b4 having to charge it. I get it, this watch does WAAAAYYY more, NOT! Needless to say within a year I was in a campground bathroom and it fell on the floor when I was showering and cracked the screen. Samsung doesn't replace the screen. It stopped working not long after, and I replaced it with a Fitbit that I love!

Has potential but the OS needs a lot of work.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is NO way to disable samsung heatlh service which drains 60% of the battery just to track steps. The watch has a 'watch mode' which gives you 20 days of battery, or normal mode which is about 1.5 days of battery. There needs to be a middle ground where I can still run some apps like alarm/timer/watch and have the battery last around 10 day. I do not care how many steps I walked, I would prefer better battery life. The GPS is terrible. I have gone for multiple runs outdoors over an hour long and the gps never stops blinking (indicating it never found my position). I am running in the suburbs with no large buildings so there is no excuse why it would take over an hour to get a gps lock. The few times I've gotten the gps to track my position while running it is far less accurate than my garmin. The total distance and pace are pretty accurate but the gps map is not great (even with high accuracy on). It will also often lose the signal intermittently during my run resulting in a bunch of zig-zig diagonal lines. When using the samgung health app to track your runs with gps, bluetooth music, & heart rate monitor on expect about 4 hours of battery life. I literally would not be able to use this watch the next time I run a marathon. On the plus side it does like very nice and it has all the features you'd want in a smart watch. It just happens to be a really bad fitness watch.

Not all the features are loaded and it looks girly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this watch because of the Blood pressure monitor which Samsung decided to cancel, so it defeated the number one purpose I wanted it for. The lay out is nice but that is really about it. It looks very feminine, which wouldn't be too bad if I didn't have a gear2 neo already that didn't do everything that this does except for wireless charging and better waterproofing. The bezel functionality on the gear3 is much better and gives the watch a beefier look eventhough this is cheaper, it felt like a step back from what Samsung was trying to do. I'm going to return this one and get the gear3. I think this is a good watch for women, swimmers or someone looking to keep the bulk down, the strap is more comfortable than my gear2, so I'll order a new one for the gear3 I buy off Amazon.

Not Worth It
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looked cool, but didn't last but maybe a year or so before it crapped out. Disappointing because we were outside of any type of warranty, so we were stuck with a useless smart watch. Not worth the money.

Disappointing - poor job tracking steps
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I prefer the Samsung/Google platform to Apple, so I was excited to hear about the Galaxy Watch Active when I decided it was time to upgrade my trusty Fitbit Alta, which I had worn for 3 years. I preordered and picked mine up the day that BestBuy shipped them to the stores, so I've been using it daily for about 3 months, and I'm disappointed. First the good - it's small, light, round, and comfortable. I rarely notice that it's there. I also like that there are many watch faces available for a reasonable price. Unfortunately however, it does a poor job of tracking steps, which is the primary reason I bought it. The Galaxy Watch Active only records steps taken with swinging arms. This means that steps taken while pushing a grocery cart or carrying something in my arms are not recorded. After 3 years of wearing a Fitbit, I know my habits, and how many steps I take in an average day, and the Galaxy Watch Active records approximately ⅓ fewer steps daily. Disappointing. And, forget about tracking flights of stairs. I'm lucky if my watch records 1 flight daily, and I regularly do at least 10. Also, I expected the Galaxy Watch Active to be capable of engaging in phone calls, like my husband's Apple Watch. Not so. While I like that I can reject calls from my wrist, when I answer there, I am directed to my phone. There is no audio on my wrist, so what's the point of being able to answer there? Pointless feature. In addition, I was deceived about the blood pressure monitoring capabilities of the Galaxy Active in the pre-sale marketing hype. I'm still waiting on that in a stable and reliable format. And also, I do really wish that the Galaxy Watch Active had the EKG function, like the Apple Watch. My health insurance is no longer covering that in routine physical exams, so it's pretty nice to be able to run it in the doctor's office on the Apple Watch. I also wish that I received high stress warnings, like on the Apple Watch, encouraging me to breathe mindfully. Incredibly annoying is the bright green light that constantly flashes against my wrist while wearing the watch comfortably loose. It shines in my and my husband's eyes at night, in movie theaters, at shows… it's quite distracting. The Apple Watch doesn't do this. Not as important, but noteworthy, are the dreadful (Bixby) voice to text and texting capabilities of the Galaxy Watch Active. While acceptable on my Galaxy phone, they're barely tolerable here. I expected a similar experience device to device. And I should mention that while it was quick and easy to replace the watch band of my Fitbit Alta, this is quite cumbersome. The band cannot be replaced quickly or easily. Even with my small fingers, working with tiny pins is tedious. I have to use needle nose pliers and tweezers. Poor design. Finally - battery life. I have never been able to get 48 hours from a single charge. I must charge every day. But on the bright side, it usually only takes about an hour to bring it back to 100% from 50-60%, so that's not too bad. I really wanted to love this device, but a step tracker that doesn't accurately track steps is pretty disappointing.

Attractive But Fails for Fitness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the watch to replace my Fitbit Versa. I have a Samsung phone, so it would be nice to have a more integrated/capable smartwatch. This one can easily find my phone, I can charge it off the back of my phone, easier to review emails/texts. Plus, I like the circular design of the watch and that is smaller and lighter. The green color looks distinctive in person while remaining classy and not overbearing. With Samsung's seeming revamp of its health/fitness, I decided to get it a go. However, the fitness tracking on this watch is awful. Chiefly, the sleep tracking. It does not accurately record when you wake up, so that if you tend to linger in bed and do work on your PC or browse using your phone, then it still considers you ASLEEP. It records it as "Light Sleep". Worse, you cannot edit your sleep stats in the Samsung Health app, so you're just left with inaccurate stats. And this is supposed to be their more fitness-oriented watch? For this alone, it only gets 2 stars; it doesn't matter how well it does anything else. Also, the app hijacks your notification options for things like emails and texts. On my phone, my email notifiations will let me mark as red, flag, or delete. Those options are stripped from the Watch in favor of weird "auto replies" like "ok" or EMOJI. Who is replying with a smiley face emoji to an EMAIL???

Wanted to love it, but mostly annoyed with it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my galaxy so I really wanted to love this watch but I really am ambivalent toward it. Takes way too long to charge. Apps arent too plentiful. The worst part of this watch? the exercise tracker is trash. I have been running with the running mode on and it has told my heart rate is 65 and decreasing all the way down to 35, which would have been the lowest heart rate I have ever recorded. The heart rate tracker is garbage. I end up adjusting it and trying to fiddle with it to get an accurate gauge so long that i end up resting a good portion of my exercise. I got this because the heart rate monitor I have (accurate) does not have too many apps it is compatible with. I wish I could return this but it's too late now.

Not that great
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im an animal nurse and thought it'd be great to use for normal everyday use but you have to download everything including basic stuff like a calculator and timer which are two huge things I need. You can alter the amt of time the screen is on before it closes but the longer it stayed on the more it drained the battery and well again, timer! I downloaded 2 more apps, a flashlight and plumbs app and that's when it was just like, no. The battery died literally in 30 minutes. Useless. I'd take a regular old analog watch and calculator on the side with my phone for internet and flashlight needs anyday. Some coworkers said the apple watch is better but I have galaxy :P

It wasnt all I hoped for.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was stylish but..... The battery dies in 1 day. How can it keep track of my sleep? The footsteps it tracked were WAY off.... I think it was because it tracked driving my car as walking. The weather app didnt work half of the time, and my phone had to be within 2 feet or it wouldn't work with messages/telling me about calls. It also didnt always tell me I had a message when my phone would (maybe due to connection?) The best features it had was that you can change the background to anything, it was waterproof, and has wireless charging. Needless to say. I returned it. It just didnt do much to improve my life or make anything much easier.

Loved the look and feel but not the functionality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch to pair with my Google Pixel 2 XL phone and I tried not just one but 2 or these watches and they did not work as advertised. The watch should have came with a messaging app for use (which apparently doesn't when you do not have a Samsung phone) which was upsetting to me. So I could only receive messages and respond but I couldn't create a new message and send It from the watch. I did love the workouts that were on the watch! But the battery life was poor. Down to 60-50 % by lunchtime after doing a workout and regular use. Charging took quite long as well which was unfortunate. For these reasons I returned the watch.

Wildly disappointed in this watch
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This now the second Samsung product with which I have had such significant problems that I've now sworn off their products altogether. I suppose it's decent as a smart watch, with a good number of apps for extending your phone and doing payments and things like that. But I was in the market for a fitness tracker that would also allow me to play music without having to lug my phone around. I was coming from a Fitbit Ionic which had originally supported must storage and playback great but at some point stopped letting me transfer music to it (likely a software update just broke things). It was also giving me problems with charging and so I thought an upgrade was in order. After much studying and searching, I decided on the Galaxy Active Absolute mistake. On at least two occasions it reset the watch face of its own accord. On one of those occasions, only a couple of weeks into owning it, it completely unpaired from my phone forcing me to redo the whole setup. Additionally, there are multiple apps you have to install on your phone to get everything out of it. Oh and it turns out the only way to transfer music to it is FROM your phone. So I have to transfer the music I want from my computer to my phone first, THEN to the watch from the phone. Ridiculous. Unfortunately, the worst of it was it's viability as a fitness watch. Now, I am by no means an Iron Man, so I expected it to keep up with my modest workout regimen. Not so. Mileage on runs was always wrong (usually an extra 1/10 of a mile per mile). Mileage on bike rides was non-existent; always 0 miles ridden. To make things even worse, these problems have apparently been around FOR YEARS. I've found countless posts on numerous forums going back to at least 2019 complaining about one or both of these issues, even on the Active 2 and Active 3. But apparently Samsung can't (or won't) fix them. I'm done with this watch and done with Samsung. If I was looking for just a smart watch to get my texts and emails on and (eventually) listen to music, I guess it'd be fine. But for the things I wanted it to do, it's been a monumental disappointment

Not great for fitness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this watch for over a month. I exchanged it for a new one. I got this mainly for the "fitness" aspect of it. The only thing I really like are the notifications from my phone, I can text back from the watch, and the GPS is pretty good. Then only time it seems to tracks steps and heart rate properly is when I have a workout activated. I returned my first one because the HR monitor seemed to stop working. I will probably be returning this one as well and getting the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

Issues staying connected to phone
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty good watch. Except when it decides to not stay connected to your phone which is always within 2 feet of the watch. Then it vibrates every 10 seconds until you're ready to rip it off your wrist and throw it across the street. I go into the app and click connect and it does for 30 seconds, then it disconnects again. Hoping for a software fix to keep this from happening. But nothing yet. I've tried going into the 3 apps and clearing the caches, but nothing works.

Galaxy watch
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess an ok smart watch for beginners like myself. I would say that i wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't on sale for 150. As others have said it doesn't keep accurate count or last very long without a daily charge. Haven't used much so will have to see if this was a complete waste. Would have much rather bought an apple product but that requires an iPhone. Comes with two watch bands. A charger. Time will tell I guess.

Not Good For Fitness Tracking
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch is ok if you are just looking for a stylish smartwatch at a decent price and you don't care about the fitness tracking. I found that the calorie counting, step tracking and sleep tracking were not accurate. For example, it had me sleeping at 8:50pm and I didn't go to bed until almost 10. The battery life is very poor. Even with battery optimize feature on I was lucky to get two days out of a charge. I also do not like the watch band because it tucks in under the band instead of on top. It makes it much more difficult to take on and off plus it is not very comfortable when you are working out. Also, as far as the smartwatch functions I found that sometimes I received notifications and sometimes I did not. I returned the watch and purchased one that is more geared toward accurate fitness tracking with a far better battery life. Hopefully Samsung will make improvements to this watch in the future,

||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought for my mother for her birthday. Would not stay charged for more than 4 hours, even when charged all night. Had to just put it down to the clock for it to last an 8 hour day then she wasn’t able to use any of the features. Samsung replaced the battery but still doesn’t last for more than 6-8 hours if she uses the features. Would not recommend.
