Best smartwatch I've owned!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a variety of brands of smartwatches - Zenwatch, Fossil, and others, the Galaxy Watch Active is the best. The different operating system was an easy adjustment. It works faster, more smoothly and more intuitively than the others did. Tracks heart, breathing, calories burned, stress levels and more. The fitness reminders are helpful without being obtrusive. The watch design is less bulky and more attractive than any other I've owned, especially for small wrists like mine. It comes with two bands - large and small. The one drawback is the built-in assistant, Bixby. It has very limited functions. I over came that by porting the Google Assistant onto the watch. ( Google it!) With a double tap on the home key now I can use Google features. Overall, it's a pleasure to use and wear!

Love the size!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy watches, but they were all to big for my small wrist. I didn't get the smaller ones because I like the round face better. This one fits my wrist perfectly. It's not to tight or to loose. I love Samsung products.

Better than a FitBit or Spade watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The need to recharge daily is a negative though it still tracks despite being on low power mode. I love that you can change the size of the time Display font (I can’t see regular typical font w/o glasses). The 40mm size display isn’t too large for women, even on my skinny arm, but I am more comfortable with the rose display and band. Very feminine looking. Negative is that neither the website or watch displays more than the current week details whereas the FitBit or VeryFitPro (Spade watch) websites are more easily followed, but then the watch itself is better than either of the others.

Nice watch, but could be better
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Apple Watch 4 and looking for a inexpensive watch for walking and working out without worrying about breaking. The Fitbit was garbage, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is a little more expensive than I wanted to pay but a nice watch. This is exactly want I wanted for a workout watch without all the bells and whistles as the Apple Watch. The design is actually really nice, but the watch face is a bit smaller than expected, but it actually fits nice and hardly know it's on. Here are the good and bad. GOOD: Attractive with nice clear screen, lightweight, a lot of watch faces, watchband east to take on/off, More apps than I expected. Easy to setup and sync, pretty accurate. BAD: Disappointed with battery life. I was hoping to get at least a couple day charge, but barely lasts a day. IOS app is buggy and can't always connect to the Galaxy Store. Not too many watchbands available for the Galaxy Active. Backup/Restore is worthless, because it can't really backup anything useful like the data and watch faces. I reinstalled the IOS app and lost all the data and had to re-pair and reinstall everything. Samsung need to supply a reliable cloud backup/restore as Apple does. It's not an Apple Watch, but I think it's a pretty decent watch compared to others on the market.

It's Excellent.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a smart watch that had all the fitness features, but didn't look like a fitness-focused watch (they usually don't look good in my opinion). This watch looks & feels fantastic; it has a very nice & clear display with vibrant colors, animations and movement in the screen are very smooth. It's connectivity withy my phone is very solid, all the information shared updates regularly (weather, messages, calendar, etc) - I've have smartwatches that I had to synchronize all the time and that got very annoying. There are a ton of different watch faces to choose from in the Galaxy Wear app. The battery charge usually lasts a little over 2 days which is great for me.

Lightweight & Comfortable Smartwatch by Samsung
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung Galaxy Active Smartwatch --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Review***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had the pleasure of purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch a while back. In my honest opinion although a really nice watch, it didn’t work out for me unfortunately; for personal reasons and opinions… But guess what? Here comes a smartwatch from Samsung that I must say is attractive, has new features, and is definitely affordable for us “active” folks out there. Samsung right off the bat offers the wearer the ability to have a good amount of customization and personalization. You can virtually strap on any 20mm watch band and Samsung is releasing 4 finishes of the Galaxy Active Smartwatch; which comes in either silver, black, blueish/green, and rose gold/pink. When it comes to the design and finish of the Galaxy Active Smartwatch, I am honestly impressed. The watch itself feels well built and durable yet elegant and beautiful with its brushed aluminum finish. With its design, it is super light weight and never gets in my way during my workout activities. The glass itself is made of Gorilla Glass 3 to help with impacts and scratches while displaying its AMOLED screen. All in all, I am pleased with the design that Samsung went with for the Galaxy Active Smartwatch; it’s truly modern, minimalistic and comfortable. Although some may not agree, I enjoy using the Galaxy Active Smartwatch without a rotating bezel. Sure it’d be nice to have the rotating bezel, but it’s not a deal breaker in my opinion. My only gripe/complaint is that the screen itself has quite a large bezel. With technology and the trend nowadays, the bezel should be extremely minimal to practically invisible. Samsung chose to insert a 230mAh battery for the Galaxy Active Smartwatch. It has been stated by Samsung that you’ll get approximately 45 hours of use, I’ve personally tested this statement and I must say that I am actually quite impressed. I would say the “use” is subjective, so it ultimately depends on that. I still got a solid 1 ½ ~ 2 days of usage before I had to charge. Excellent work on the battery estimation Samsung! During my day to day use, I really enjoyed the comfortability of the Samsung Galaxy Active Smartwatch. The internal specs of the watch also made it seamless as there was virtually no issues of lag experienced. I personally never really used the included onboard GPS route tracking since I workout in the gym near my house. But I can definitely state that if/when my wife decides to go hiking, I will for sure put the GPS to good use. I also LOVE the fact that I can go swimming with this watch up to 5ATM which is 50 meters which is approximately 164 feet. Besides that, I also utilized the heart rate monitor, sleep tracker and general fitness. Heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, and general fitness tracking is pretty generic as it’s available on any smartwatch. I've been trying to see if I could utilize the blood pressure monitoring option but I can't seem to find it. From what I can tell, the blood pressure monitoring option isn't released yet or perhaps in beta. I'm definitely looking forward to having the option monitor my blood pressure. Just keep in mind everyone, take the blood pressure monitoring with a grain of salt. Always go see your doctor if you think something is going on. Overall, I have to say that I am quite pleased with the Samsung Galaxy Active Smartwatch. Everything from the design, to the usage, downright to the practicality; I can personally say that it’s worth it. It definitely won’t create a huge dent in your bank account and it has all the functions you need on a day to day basis. My gripe as some others may have is with the large black bezel. If you're an individual that likes to wear a light and extremely comfortable smartwatch without putting a dent into your wallet/bank account with the purchase; I highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy Active Smartwatch. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Quick Features & Specs***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1-inch circular 360x360 AMOLED display Tizen OS 4.0 w/ One UI GPS, Glonass, Beidou & Galileo Heart rate & blood pressure monitoring MIL-STD-810G tested IP68 certified Swim-proofing up to 5ATM 40mm aluminium casing 20mm quick-release silicon straps 1.15GHz Exynos 9110 chipset, 768MB RAM, and 4GB storage Pairs seamlessly with Samsung Galaxy phones and other Android devices. Excellent Quality and Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent smart watch. I applaud Samsung for its minimalist packaging, all of which can be recycled. Small point, but important to many of us. The box contains the basics: watch, extra-length strap, (a great!) charger, and a quick-start guide that is actually clear enough with large print and good illustrations to be useful. The watch has a solid, substantial feel, and while I only tested its ability to resist water in a couple of showers, the construction left me with few doubts that it would handle more lengthy water activities. Also, it is stylish and with the screen dark the watch even looks elegant for its simplicity. As for that charger, it plugs into any standard USB port and is magnetic. No clips to open, no manual adjustments, just put the watch on the charger and it snaps into place for wireless charging. Neat! Syncing the watch to my phone stalled for about 30 minutes. I decided to delete the app and restart the phone before reinstalling the app. It then synced quickly. The band, unlike several others I have tried, is both comfortable and easy to buckle. Using various included apps was frustrating as I had to accede to the demands that I grant many, many permissions or the apps would not work. (Had I not been using the watch for evaluation purposes I would not have granted the most intrusive permissions.) For example, I am sure there is a reason why the watch needs to have access to my stored photos, but I could not figure out what that might be. Like many contemporary tech tools, I felt it was needlessly stalking me. The step-tracking function accurate to within about 1-2%. Usability was compromised by the size of the fonts on some faces. There were, of course, several built-in options with the ability to get more at a nominal price. The watch is pleasantly (for some purposes) tidy in size (see photos). The downside is that trying to read steps or other metrics which may be displayed on several faces is very difficult. I wonder how someone who requires glasses but might not use them for exercise or workouts would be able to read the information from the watch. My guess is they would choose one of the less cluttered digital options. In the photos you will see one screen that displays more than a dozen data points from the number of steps to a weather forecast. A user must determine whether this is helpful or needlessly confusing. The screen was very responsive and reacted instantly to my swipes. I have not experienced this speed and certainty with some other devices and it was refreshing. Overall, this is a good, solid product with many features that could enhance a varied workout regimen (and if you don’t turn off this feature it will remind you—often erratically—to get up to “move.” After several days of wear and use, I felt very comfortable with the elegance of the watch. Samsung has gone to great lengths to provide alerts, connectivity information, and surprisingly readable weather reports, emails, and texts. Strongly recommended.

It’s a gorgeous and sleek watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Samsung wearable device. The 42mm is a bit too small for my big hands but still looks very nice. Long battery life with heavy use. Screen is very bright with the perfect size letters and numbers. The menu buttons are not big or bulky to take away from the looks of the watch. I have it paired with iOS and so far no issues. It tracks steps quite accurately but need to use Samsung health app to sync with phone. It comes with a small wireless charging dock statio for fast charging. The wristband has been designed better the previous models. Am all around excellent buy.

Stylish & Light
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a Gear Fit2 Pro and before that the Gear Fit. I didn’t see what all the fuss was about for the Galaxy watch I thought it was WAY TOO BIG & BULKY for my wrist and I felt the only thing it could do that my Gear Fit couldn’t was answer calls. Meh, I am rarely far away from my phone and when I am calls just have to wait. Along came the Galaxy Watch Active. I tried it on and liked it but was it really worth the upgrade from my still working and reliable Gear Fit2 Pro? For me, a resounding YES!!!! If for no other reason than after 4 years I was ready for a new look. Aside from that, it fits way better on my wrist than the Gear Fit2 did which occasionally would read as not on my wrist because the shape & the gap between its sensor and my wrist. The Active is lightweight, stylish and it has more screen options than Gear Fit2. The band is way easier to swap out than the Gear Fit2 which is a plus. Since it looks like a watch and not a fitness tracker, changing the face and the band can help dress it up to look like a piece of jewelry and not a fitness tracker. It tracks REM, which gives a little more info than just deep versus light sleep. I don’t see what the issue with battery life is. Currently I have it set to constantly track heart rate/stress and I haven’t had any issues with it dying at the end of the day. If I had constant heart rate tracking on Gear Fit2 I would need a top off by the end of the day or at least before bed. I read many comments about the battery life and that people barely get through 2 days. I charge the Active when I shower so even if the battery doesn’t last a full 2 days w/o a charge my life is not so busy that I can’t top it off daily. Also I have the S10+ while I haven’t tried to charge the Active using my phone I know the option is there. I absolutely love the goodnight & theater features that stop the watch from coming on every time you move. My Gear Fit 2 would sometimes disturb my sleep with the flashing sensors or coming on as I rolled over. I am a little disappointed it doesn’t currently have the blood pressure feature working, I check mine at least 2x per day it would be nice to see if it is accurate and have a better indication of where I am throughout the day. I like that you can save your 4 most used workouts on one screen for quick access. I do wish you could pick from any available work out in the Samsung Health App. I roller skate and I don’t understand why that option is only available via phone. The circuit training option seems to work well and appears to give a reasonable caloric burn based on HIIT & Boot Camp workouts. I think the step tracker is pretty accurate in my experience. While the changes between the Gear Fit2 & Active may be slight, I am very happy that I purchased and for me it was worth the upgrade. I got it in silver and it looks awesome especially with an after market band. Bottom line for me, I would definitely recommend it.

Nice fitness tracker/Mediocre smartwatch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent a month using a Galaxy Watch with an S10+. I switched to the Galaxy from an iPhone and purchased the Galaxy Watch Active to replace my Apple Watch Series 3. I was debating between the flagship Galaxy Watch and the Active. I eventually chose the Active because I mainly use a smartwatch for fitness and prefer the design and form factor of the Active. One thing I never liked as an Apple Watch owner was the boring, square, utilitarian design of the Apple Watch. The smooth and stylish round face of the Active looks much better than my old Apple Watch and even slightly better than the Galaxy Watch IMO. Its very unobtrusive and blends in with your wardrobe without standing out. The Active gives me pretty good battery life. I get just about two days off a charge. I strictly use the watch for fitness. I don’t use it for playing music, GPS navigation or non-fitness related apps. The processor is snappy enough for my needs. The OLED display is nice and crisp. The interface is not the most intuitive to operate and the omission of the rotating bezel makes it even tougher. That’s one of my gripes. The screen is bright enough for most uses but can wash out and disappear in very bright sunlight, even at max brightness. Performance-wise, I’d heard complaints about the step counter being inaccurate. I believe I got lucky because I compared the Active to my old iPhone, my S3 Apple Watch, my work phone (S8+) and even a stand-alone pedometer. It was consistent among all devices in tests, including the pedometer. I’m comfortable with it. The band is soft, very comfortable and easy to clean. The watch ships with two bands, short and long. The grey and silver combo may appear boring at first glance but it looks really nice on the wrist and matches any outfit worn. The silver case is also versatile enough to match any color or style band you throw at it. You can place and answer calls from the watch but not hold conversations from it. That is because it does not have a speaker and is another of my gripes. Whenever you make or answer calls, it simply says continue on handset. Call place/reject can be useful, but only if you have earbuds or some other type of secondary external audio device to handle calls handsfree. Otherwise, you may as well just use the phone. I don’t normally place lengthy calls through a smartwatch but it was very convenient to have the ability to make, answer and even have a very brief phone conversation when necessary on my Apple Watch. Another thing that irked me about this watch was the debacle with the blood pressure monitoring. In the weeks leading up to launch, the Active was being touted as the only smartwatch capable of monitoring blood pressure. I personally know people who bought the watch specifically and almost solely for that reason. What they got instead was lots of frustration. The app was delayed and is only compatible with certain phones. It also requires users participate in a research program and share their data. After going through the delays and agreeing to participate in the study, many users are reporting glitches, shaky reliability and wildly inaccurate results. I know people who decided to pass on installing the app for that reason. If this was supposed to be an answer to the new Apple Watch ECG feature, it failed big time. A lot of people actually returned the watch after the blood pressure monitoring turned out to be such a huge disappointment. I personally like the Active, particularly the styling. The best feature of the watch is by far the price. I realize the trade-offs will very likely be too numerous for some and the blood pressure ordeal left a bad taste for many who pre-ordered. I also saw that the flagship Galaxy Watches were recently on sale for $50 off. That only further complicates the decision making process. I personally can live with the trade-offs, although some are definitely more irksome than others. I consider the Active more of an activity tracker than a smartwatch, hence its name. As long as those are the expectations going in, there is likely to be far lest disappointment. So to sum all this up in two sentences: * If you want a true smartwatch comparable to an Apple Watch, buy the Galaxy Watch. * If you primarily want an activity tracker that will also give you alerts and limited apps, buy the Active.
