Perfect watch for my needs
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from my first smartwatch, a Pebble Time, since my switch to a Galaxy S10 didn't go over well with it. My wants for that one were notifications and music controls on my wrist. Lately I've found myself wanting fitness-tracking features. The Galaxy Watch Active delivers that perfectly for me - I've used it for walks, mountain biking, even Beat Saber. I also like the sleep tracking, though I don't know what value I actually get out of it... As far as fit and feel, the included band is very comfortable, and the watch is small and light enough that I don't take much notice of it. The green color is evident, but not flashy. User interface is very smooth, and the touch bezel update is fun (but not perfect). Without the always-on display, I can get a little over 2 days' use out of the battery (with the S10, I do get the benefit of Wireless PowerShare, which is super cool!) I'm extremely satisfied with the level of quality and features that it offers, especially for the sale price.

fitness watch & more
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish this model came with the high blood pressure monitor, but the upgrade price for it wasn't justified. This original version does all but that. I purchased this model during a sale promotion. A bit sensitive to touch. Smartwatch tracks all my fitness, you can customize face, widgets easily. Must download Samsung health and Wear for optimal information. Was able to link my scale to their app and track my weight goals. The watch looks great, face size is perfect on my wrist, doesn't look bulky. Battery life isn't great, if you want to track your sleep you will need to find downtime to charge up. Bixby is great on this watch as well. Lots of options on this product.

Best smartwatch I've owned!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a variety of brands of smartwatches - Zenwatch, Fossil, and others, the Galaxy Watch Active is the best. The different operating system was an easy adjustment. It works faster, more smoothly and more intuitively than the others did. Tracks heart, breathing, calories burned, stress levels and more. The fitness reminders are helpful without being obtrusive. The watch design is less bulky and more attractive than any other I've owned, especially for small wrists like mine. It comes with two bands - large and small. The one drawback is the built-in assistant, Bixby. It has very limited functions. I over came that by porting the Google Assistant onto the watch. ( Google it!) With a double tap on the home key now I can use Google features. Overall, it's a pleasure to use and wear!

Best purchase I've made in a while.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this watch, its sleek and has all the features of the bigger, bulkier galaxy watches. It paired amazingly with my s8 plus and even better with my new S10 plus. It has so many features I'm still learning them. I absolutely love that it is water proof and I can wear it anywhere or anytime and it tracks my sleep, steps, workouts and heart rates. It makes it so easy for me to stick to my health plans. I would recommend this over and over for any lifestyle.

Awesome Little Smartwatch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I bought this to replace my aging Samsung Gear S2, and it absolutely ticks all the boxes. Its slim, light and you barely notice you're wearing it. This is such an improvement over the previous Gear watches which were rather bulky. The operating system is snappy and responsive and so much better than competitors out there. The battery life is great so far, I'm averaging two to three days of use with a mixture of exercise and just normal wearing on normal settings. The lack of a rotating bezel is sad, I still miss that from my Gear S2 but everything else this does makes it worth it. The always tracking Heart Rate is really cool, lots of data to look at, as is the always tracking stress data. But overall I'm still just so impressed with how fluid and fast using this watch feels, especially compared to the previous Samsung watch it replaced.

Watch is great but NOT waterproof.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Up until about a month ago, I had no problems whatsoever with this watch - in fact, I absolutely loved it. Here are a few reasons why: It's very light and comfortable to wear, and it's small enough that it never gets in the way. Even though I try to charge it every night, the battery will easily last two days in case I forget. The watch seamlessly connects to my android phone and lets me read and reply to texts, emails, and other messages, as well as pause/play music, check the weather, etc The AMOLED screen is beautiful and bright enough for me to read in direct sunlight with glasses on. Fitness tracking seems to work well, and I like not having to bring my phone with me when I'm running. It keeps track of miles ran, calories burned, heart rate, etc. I admit I've only used the run tracking but I'm sure the other workout modes work just as well. Now unfortunately my great experience with this watch took a turn for the worst about 8 months after I bought it, when I decided to wear it while swimming in a freshwater lake - shouldn't cause any issues, I thought, after all it is IP68 rated and even has built in features to track swimming! This proved not to be the case, because shortly after getting in the water both the screen and side buttons had died! The watch was still connected to my phone, but it would not respond to anything. Later that day I tried to power cycle it and the AMOLED screen came to life with a horrible glitched mess - I though the watch was done for. Miraculously, the next day it started working again and I've had no issues since, but the damage has been done - not to the watch, because it somehow works now, but to my trust. Never again will I take it swimming, and thought I still use it everyday, I now fear that the internals have been slowly corroding this whole time and the watch will just suddenly die someday.

It does everything I need it to do. I have no problems getting it to do anything I need it to do. I like that I can text right off the watch, that saves me time. Excellent watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch is awesome. The only part that I dislike are that I cannot answer phone calls directly through my phone or play music. Also, that the watch face screen is VERY easy to scratch. Other than that the watch is great, I love being able to track my fitness stuff without having to carry my phone.

Great Fitness Tracker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went back and forth over whether this was 4 stars or 5, but I ultimately landed on 5 because I feel like this watch excels based on the identity it was designed to have and the price point it was designed at. No, this might not be the most feature-packed smart watch out there. There's no speaker/microphone so it can't play music or place/make phone calls without you physically using your phone, but at $200, it wasn't meant to. It's the Galaxy Watch Active and I think it really nails the Active part. It's small, simple, super light and easy to forget it's there. It automatically tracks a large number of workouts, it's swim-proof, and it also tracks a bevy of other physical things like pulse, stress, sleep, weight, calories, caffeine, water intake, etc. I don't know what else you can track without having something much more invasive hooked to your body. Because of this, I'd call this more of a fitness tracker than a smart watch. Since it DOES still have a lot of smart watch features like notifications, texting, calendars, weather, email, Samsung Pay, etc, etc, etc, I would say it's one very full-featured fitness tracker, thus the 5 stars. I've never used other fitness trackers or smart watches, but this one checks all my boxes. Small side note: some people have complained about the phone app and editing settings from there, but I like it because it's a much bigger screen, which makes changing things so much quicker and easier. The only cons I can think of is that battery life is about 2 days at most (I could turn some features off, but then what's the point?) and I wish there were more watch faces, or that the ones that are on it had more colors. TL;DR: Feature-packed fitness tracker that does everything that it says it will, well. Battery life could be a little better.

Sleek and Accurate
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super lightweight, comfortable and sleek. This is the first smartwatch device I actually enjoyed the preloaded display. After customizing the watch it to fit my needs, I really enjoyed it. If you enable options like Bluetooth, WIFI, GPS, etc. then the battery will drain faster than if they were off. My recommendation is to really evaluate what you need and use those. Disable what you don’t think you’ll use to improve batter life. The initial straps were too small for my wrist, so I was happy to see a larger backup strap in the box. It fits great and provides a comfy feel. So far, I’m getting great compliments about the watch… Mainly people think it’s sleek and stylish. Out of the box, it was very simple to use and get started. The reason why I gave it 5 stars is because of one main reason. It’s called Galaxy Watch Active, so I really feel like it’s geared toward fitness than text messages and phone syncing. It may seem obvious because of the name, but there are other options if you want a smartwatch that syncs better with your phone. This serves my fitness tracking and needs perfectly. Pros: Battery life (when optimized for needs) Lightweight Two watch straps Watch display customization Quick charge Waterproof Workout mode with many options Accurately tracks steps Can display 100% of time or go in standby Clear screen Cons: Watch face quality Battery can drain quickly if not optimized Overall: If you’re looking for a smartwatch with its main focus toward fitness, then this is great for you. I really enjoyed all the different fitness modes: walking, cycling, swimming, curls, yoga, running and more. Another great aspect is it’s super lightweight. Although I can’t speak on its durability, the screen might scratch easily like most smart devices. You can sync your cell phone to this like other smart devices so it really covers a great range of needs. Although I didn’t take a star off for this, it took several attempts to sync the watch with my phone. The phone would always quickly find the watch, but for some reason never connected. I didn’t care about needing my phone and watch to connect, so I kept it a 5 star because it fit my needs.

Lightweight and Comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the most comfortable smart watch I have tried. It's very lightweight and small. Great for the fitness enthusiast, with tracking for workouts, steps and heart rate. The tracking does a pretty good job overall, though it appeared to lose a few of my steps on occasion throughout the day. Coming from a Galaxy S3 Frontier (that I've been wearing for nearly 2 years), I was very surprised at all the features packed into this watch at it's size and weight. I can't say enough things about how lightweight it is. I almost forget that I'm wearing it. The biggest complaint I have is the lack of the rotating bezel that is on the other Samsung watches (like my S3 Frontier). It takes some getting used to, but the screen feels really good to swipe through (I'm not sure if it has some special coating, or something but it just feels "good" to swipe through stuff. It also helps that the watch is very fast and responsive. Another sort of nitpick is the actual bezel around the screen. Samsung does a good job sort of hiding the fact that the screen has a bezel, as it almost looks as if it's all screen. But there is a small bezel around the screen that I wish was usable screen space. Overall, this is an excellent smart watch, and very easy to recommend. I don't think you'll find a more comfortable smart watch than the Galaxy Watch Active at this time. Pros: Lightweight, Fast, Feels good to use, Good battery life (I'm easily getting 2 days out of it) Cons: No rotating bezel, wish there was less of a bezel around the screen

Great Value Smart Watch/Fitness Companion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an overall great value for any occupation and any occasion. My workplace is an industrial package center. After getting tired of missing calls/texts I decided to finally jump the gun after buying the Galaxy S10. I went along with the black version since the casing is a hard composite that I don’t have to worry about scratching. This is as opposed to the aluminum casings on the other color watches. Build wise I would not have bought this if the market for 3rd party accessories was non-existent. I found a great screen protector that helps me stay confident about wearing the watch to work, and the Milanese style strap I bought allows me to quickly adjust the location of the watch body to keep it away from machinery when necessary. The OEM strap is very comfortable but having to readjust it proved to be a nuisance. Style wise the 40mm casing looks just right on me. I am 5’5” and typically wear smaller 38mm watches. Not sure if I would like it as much if the size was any smaller. It’s a preference, but we all have our vanities about us. The black screen on black bezel also makes the screen look bigger than what it really is, which is good. I am sure all of us would have preferred a smaller bezel like what Samsung has done with their Galaxy line of phones though. The actual watch is simple to navigate. The lack of the rotating bezel makes it easier to navigate through touch compared to the preceding Galaxy Watch devices where the bezel was raised and in the way. If you can memorize what application is which icon on the navigation screen, then scrolling through them one-by-one with the old bezel is pointless. That’s my opinion as somebody who’s never owned one of those devices. Lack of a speaker is ok. When it is all said and done this is a fitness track first. It works out because I have the Galaxy Buds (preorder bonus) anyways for when I take incoming calls. Back to this being a fitness tracker. The pedometer and floor count may be questionable at best, but I enjoy being able to see my heart rate, stress levels, and sleep habits. Lastly, it may not have a speaker, but it still has GPS! The Navigation Pro app I paid for is very useful for pedestrian travel. I don’t need a map on my wrist, so simply telling me where and when to turn is great. What I did not realize is that the companion app also syncs with my Android Auto in my car. Whenever I put in an address it’ll give me the turn-by-turn on my wrist. Since I keep my GPS on mute, I found the vibration for an incoming turn/exit to be very handy.

Well worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was never a watch person and I thought a smartwatch was completely unnecessary, but when I decided to I wanted a fitness tracker I opted for the Galaxy Watch Active since I am a Samsung Galaxy S9 user, like the Samsung Health app and use Spotify. While the battery life rating on the watch is not the greatest it did not bother me as I won't sleep with a watch on, so putting it on the charger each night was no big deal. After owning the watch for a few weeks I have fallen in love with it. It works perfectly with my phone, does everything I need it too and more, and the price could not be beat for a quality brand name smartwatch. I would recommend this smartwatch to anyone looking for premium smartwatch at a reasonable price.

Tons of features for daily life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never owned a smart watch or Fitbit before, so I was uncertain of how much I would like this product when I bought it. Getting used to it took a little bit of time, but now that I know how to use it, it has proven to be extremely useful for my daily life. Below are a few of the ways I use and enjoy my smartwatch. Health & Fitness: the watch tracks my heartbeat, stress, sleep (to include depth of sleep), steps, and when I walk or run for more than 10 minutes. It obviously links with Samsung Health (not certain about other health apps), and gives you a basic display on your watch of your activities and Calories lost during the day. I'm a pretty lazy person by nature, but having all that information at my wrist helps to keep me motivated to move around a bit more. Notifications: When paired with my phone, I can see messages, emails, and other notifications from my phone without ever pulling it out of my pocket. I can even respond to messages with 20 customizable responses, write words on the watch face, or even speak into the watch for it to write my words down. Music control: I can switch songs and turn up the volume to my headphones, all from my watch. Very useful since you can see the song title on the face. Samsung Pay: I can pay for many of my purchases simply by putting my wrist near the card reader. If I forget my wallet at home, I know there are many places I can still go, instead of being forced to return home. Pick your favorite watch face: There are many different watch faces, which can focus on utility or fashion. Pick whichever one you want, and even change what is displayed on them. Various apps: You can set calendar dates, add reminders, alarms, favorite contacts to easily message, check the week's weather, and do even more, all without ever pulling out your phone. I only have a few minor complaints about it. I wish some of the apps on the store were included from the start and didn't require you to purchase them. One instance of this is the navigation app. If I'm walking somewhere new, having a navigator on my wrist would be awesome, but I don't really want to pay an additional $2 or $5 for it (can't remember the price). Also, even if you have Samsung Pay for your phone with credit cards saved on there, those cards don't transfer to your watch. You will have to add and activate your cards again for use specifically with your watch. As for the speech to text function, it doesn't seem to be as accurate as other things I've used. You'll have to make sure to speak clearly and slowly, and even then you may have to fix a few mistakes. Compared to all the benefits the watch gives me, though, these are all minor complaints that would make the watch even more awesome if fixed. If you've been curious about getting a smart watch, I would most certainly recommend it. Most likely, you'll be glad you did.

Best Watch Ever
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never been able to really wear watches, didn't like anything tight around my wrist. But when i was diagnosed with a heart condition, my doctor recommended that I get a smart watch the a HR tracker. I tried a fitbit but I didn't like how it looked or felt. Then, after a year or so, I decided to try the Watch Active and I absolutely love it! Feels great on, easy to work, sends all the information to my Galaxy phone and it isn't bothersome at all!

Ok smart watch but limited
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is good looking watch. But compared to the Gear S3 has some big limitations. The battery runs out really fast - 24 hours! Can not take calls on the watch - must use the phone. But has good health tracking features and it has lighter weight and easier to use. The price is reasonable for the features.

Good small smart watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched these watches before buying and figured the Galaxy Watch Active would give me all the features I needed, since my main priority is exercise tracking. Ultimately, I wore this watch for a week and then decided to exchange it for the more expensive, slightly larger Galaxy Watch 42mm. I didn't love the "rose gold" color. Upon wearing it, I realized it was more Pink than rose gold, and if I wanted to switch out other color bands, it was definitely going to look pink. The size and weight of it was great, very comfortable and the rubber type band was smooth and easy to wear. The fitness tracking was great, it picked up on my exercise very quickly, and while walking or running, it would vibrate if I stopped, to ask me if I wanted to pause my workout, which was nice, because I have accidentally left my tracker running well beyond a workout on multiple occasions. The notifications were good, though I found for some reasons I wasn't getting notifications on text messages after the first few days. Was likely something I had done in the settings. The main reason why I decided to upgrade to the Galaxy Active is because this watch does not have a speaker to answer phone calls, and I found that annoying that I can see a call coming in and can even hit answer on the watch, but it answers that call on my phone, so I still have to go get my phone to answer. If I have the ability of the watch to be away from my phone, I want the calling feature too. As for the fitnes tracking, the Galaxy Watch will track the same.
