I have to say I was surprised at the functionality being that it's the 1st gen of the product. I originally purchased an Active2 and loved it and purchased this Active for my mom. I think for her it works perfectly since even if it had a speaker to accept calls, she wouldn't be able to hear them, but at least it vibrates and lets her know her phone is ringing so she answers calls more often. I would recommend to those who want a smart watch for all the features but not to actually make or receive calls (since it has no speaker to do so). The price is hard to beat, especially when you can find an open box and I would highly recommend the insurance since it isn't very much and it will get you a new watch if yours fails or breaks within the extended warranty period from Best Buy.

I bought this even though I have an iPhone XR. It still pairs well with the watch and I got this watch over the Apple Watch because of the price. I found out that you can’t use the texting or call features with an iPhone though. I love the look and the different apps you can add to it, but the battery doesn’t last. The only way you can get the watch to last about a day is if it is always on battery saver mode. If the watch is paired with your phone and using WiFi it seems to last about 7-8 hours at the most. Otherwise the look and features it offers is great. I will most likely buy the Apple Watch since it works best with my phone, but for now this watch is a good start.

This is the most comfortable smartwatch/fitness tracker I've had yet. The band it comes with is very comfortable and it was a great value with the new update. It functions almost as good as the active2, with most of the same features including the touch rotating bezel. The only thing I don't like compared to my fitbit ionic is that it seems like the fitbit is better at tracking my heart rate through my workouts and more consistently, but to me, this has a lot more functionality to it. One of my favorite features is that it will connect to a known wifi network and work remotely from your phone. I have had times where I left my phone inside my house and was outside where they were not connected via blue-tooth and I was still able to receive and respond to text messages.

It is the perfect size (even for a small wrist), looks great and has everything I was looking for in a smart watch for a very decent price. I was mainly looking for a fitness tracker (to track my biking and steps), but this watch had so much more for the money than all of the basic trackers I was looking at. I have never been a calorie counter, but this makes it so easy by giving me the correct calories for almost all restaurants, brands and foods I eat...then, by comparing my calories in to those that it has tracked for my output, it has helped me realize where I was previously failing and what foods just aren't worth it. Then, besides the fitness tracking, I get all of the advantages of a smart watch for the same price as the basic fitness trackers. I love it!!!!

This is a great product from Samsung, being sold at just the right price. The watch looks great and so is the new OS. Would definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for a smaller fit as against other larger smartwatches in the market.

I love this watch it's so pretty. It's so light weight you forget you're wearing it. I get so many compliments. Its the perfect size. Only downside is it has no speaker so you cant answer calls on it but you can talk to text. Other than that I love it.

    Best smartwatch for the money!

Bought this because it was a smaller smartwatch, about the size of a regular watch. That was important. It is very fitting indeed. I absolutely love it now!! It makes me feel like a video game character, keeping track of my food and water intake. I've been able to improve my sleep as well with the sleep tracking feature. If you're looking for a smartwatch and maybe not interested in huge ammounts of bells-and-whistles, this is it! Plenty of watch faces and easy android interface. Samsung Health further makes use of the data it can collect. I will mention the durability as well. I'm an auto technician and still wear it all day(with a Stainless stretch band) and easy band switch when I get home.

My wife has used Fitbit products for some time and when her last Fitbit watch/tracker case broke, I got the idea that she might like a smart watch/tracker to go with her Samsung 8 phone. She is very happy with it and other than having to learn new tracking software, she's found it useful in keeping track of her activity. The only negative she's found is that she wishes the battery would last longer than a couple of days. On the other hand, she's gotten used to taking it off and putting it on the charging plate every night. No more plug-in devices, but the plate will be an extra piece she needs to carry around to charge her watch when she travels. For that inconvenience, she gives it four stars instead of 5. It is now something I will look to buying when my own tracker bites the dust. It's about time I got a new watch as well.

Good general purpose smart watch. Easy to set up and navigate. Reliable, comfortable and colors are vivid. Only downside is battery life is about 1.5 days or so before it needs charging. Overall happy with the purchase.

The Samsung smartWatch has been great! I love the size, it's a little smaller than it's competitors but still has so many fun features. I love that I can change the face background, there's a ton of apps you can download for it, I love that if I'm inactive for so long it'll remind me to get up and move, and it even gives me an exercise option to follow. It shows HR and stress levels too, but they're not all that accurate. The only con is the battery life. Unless you have it on power saving mode(where you can't see the time unless you push the side button and it's dimmer - but what's the point of having a watch if you can't flip your wrist and see the time...) I find I have to charge it every day at some point. But as that's my only con, I think I'll live. Lol

I had the Gear S2 Classic before getting the Active and loved it. This watch feels similar software wise, but feels sad to not have the rotating bezel. The watch also feels small, but it's a lot more comfortable than any smartwatch ever used. It's great that standard 20mm straps works perfectly. Screen looks beautiful. Also love the NFC Samsung Pay.

I have been loving this Samsung Galaxy watch active. It is a very competent watch for a great price. Compared to the newer Watch active 2, it doesn't really lose out on too many features (I think just less accurate metrics and maybe better battery?) I use it to track my running and it is pretty accurate (compared to an apple watch 3). The battery is pretty good, I usually end up charging once a day, but it could stretch to two. I also like the smaller form factor as it is not super bulky. Overall great watch!

This smartwatch is absolutely amazing for being a bit older. Got it for the wife and she's not really used to smartwatches like this (had a Gear Fit a couple years ago but had lost it). The design and build quality are top notch for sure. The pink color is great, and was one of the selling points for me, as she loves it. Pairing with her Note 9 went smoothly, as expected. The features are great. It's not quite as large of a screen as I'd had liked, but that's just me (she likes it fine). This is definitely another big win for Samsung, and if you can get it on sale like I did for the under $150 mark, absolutely worth it.

I'm optimistically happy. I say this because these Samsung watches tend to be really good until about a year in, coincidentally, just as the warranty expires. I'm getting great battery life, i.e. it doesn't die before the day is over. The heart rate monitor gives me a different reading then my Gear Fit 2, I can't tell which one is off, except to say this one seems more realistic than the Fit..it had me pretty much brain dead all day. This one is just the opposite...almost to a concerning point with the wild swings. I like the size. It's not really bulky like the Frontier, and gives more screen space than the Fit. It's just the right size.

Very capable watch, a few flaws

Not new to this rodeo. I have previously used Pebble, then the original Huawei Android Wear watch for over three years. I tried using the LG Watch Style as an athletic watch but the battery life was terrible. When I saw Samsung was releasing the Galaxy Watch Active I was intrigued because it was waterproof to 50m. I preordered the green as the price was worth the try. The watch arrived and first, it's not green, it's aqua blue. Still though, a nice color. Having not had a prior Galaxy model, I don't miss the moving bezel which some are knocking it for. I really like the watch. The activities work well, the battery life is pretty good, usually at night the watch is only at 50% battery life. My ONLY knock on the watch, which I called Samsung on is that after 3 weeks the watch band started looking like a snake shedding its skin. Samsung says that is not covered under the warranty and then asked if I've worn it in water. HELLO it's waterproof! So between the band and the color (still not green), I've removed a star.

I bought this watch to pair with my iPhone XS, as I didn't want to pay the outrageous Apple Watch price and in anticipation of switching to Android in the near feature. It easily pairs with the iPhone, but with the loss of message response and a few other limitations that would be expected when crossing Android with Apple. One of my favorite features is in viewing entire emails and messages, as opposed to previews. I get a ton of compliments on its round, sleek appearance and functions, ironically most coming from die-hard Apple users. I love the fitness and other health tracking functions it has. Battery life is impressive. Definitely happy with this purchase.
