Great on basics and battery life, lacking app
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the galaxy watch to offer a good mix of fitness and smart watch functionality. The step tracking seems to be accurate, but the altimeter doesn't seem to work well to count floors climbed. I get up flights of stairs multiple times in the day and at the end of the day i only see one or two floors climbed as the summary. Battery life is pretty good and i haven't had any challenges charging it every other day. The Samsung S-Health app doesn't offer many fitness features and features like GPS route tracking go unused. I think you need to invest in other fitness apps and link this watch, to make any use of fitness features other than the basics. I like the fact that it reminds me to move every hour. I have set the watch to alert me for important emails only, so I know when something useful lands in my inbox. I have taken calls from the watch and the quality is passable - you can have a conversation as long as it is not too windy or noisy. The watch is comfortable to wear all day and the automatic workout tracking seems to work for walking and cycling, but not for circuit training or more weight oriented workouts. I docked a star for the S-Health app and the as yet missing ECG feature.

Good for Notifications. Anything Else...It's Meh.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, let me start by prefacing that I already own an Apple Watch Series 4. I own an iPhone 12 Pro, in addition to a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I was looking for a smartwatch that I could use with my Note, and the Galaxy Watch Active 2 seemed like a good deal. I have used my Apple Watch since the release of the Series 4, and I have had a good deal of time to compare. First, the good: - Display quality is excellent on the GWA2. It includes an Always-On Display (AOD) option, which allows for quick glancing. The colors are vibrant and the brightness can go quite high. Almost too high at night, though. This is one feature that Samsung always does well on. - Sleep tracking works well and is very useful. It pairs with the Samsung Health app to give a good insight into your sleeping. - Battery life is better than the Apple Watch. With AOD on, I can squeeze 2 days comfortably without charging. I can barely do a single day on the Series 4, and it doesn't even have AOD. - It is comfortable to wear! Honestly, it is a comfortable watch and it doesn't dig into my skin. I also like the round design. - Strong vibration motor. Much stronger than my Apple Watch and I can definitely tell when I have a notification coming in. Now, the not so good: - The software is...well...janky to say the least. It is running Samsung's TizenOS and it is far from the smoothest. Utilizing the turn-dial around the rim of the watch is great in theory, but bad in practice. I constantly accidentally click an item on the watch when I was just trying to scroll. - Poor app support. But this is inherent to TizenOS and the incredibly niche amount of developers who actually make anything for it. Your best bet is built-in Samsung-made applications. - Terrible heart rate (HR) sensor. Look, it works fine if you are still, not moving, and the surface temperature of your arm is not on the cold side. Any other scenario (ie., working out, walking outside while it is cold, etc), and I get a message stating an HR reading was not obtainable. It asked me to reposition the watch and try again, but still no avail. The sensor is reminiscent of old, first-generation smartwatches that first included heart rate sensors. They only worked when perfectly still. On my Apple Watch, I get a reading when moving, working out, sitting still, jumping, whatever. The sensor on it is leaps and bounds ahead of what is on the GWA2, and it's a few generations old! - You are stuck using Bixby. I don't need to say much else. It's Bixby. Yuck. - Voice typing when responding to messages is slow, inaccurate, and makes me want to pull my phone out instead (and sometimes, my hair). - You are limited in the complications you can use for creating watch faces. Actually, the entire watch face creation is just not all that great. It is very limited, especially compared to the AW2. Honestly, if you are satisfied with something that can tell you the time, alert you to notification, and can provide some basic health insights, it's not the worst watch in the world for the money. But if you need something that you will expect to work fast, smooth, and as advertised, I would look elsewhere. It's a very "meh" watch, and it is going right back to Best Buy.

Smartwatches are getting better
||Posted . Excellent "much-more-than" a watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great combination of a health monitor, continuous multi-functional connective app device, has a strong battery with magnetic wireless charging and OH it's a watch too - all in a very clean, sleek and well made package. The health monitor can track everything you want (and even those you don't!) with as much granularity as you like or input information you want to provide to take it to another level. You can stay easily connected to your important apps with a flick of the finger. There are over two dozen various watch faces with the ability to customize the sub-sect monitors - easy to change with your mood if you like. An equal to the Apple Watch, the only real difference to me is which eco-system are you operating. Don't sweat it more than that, just get movin'.

Excellent for the price point
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very surprised how well this watch works. At this price point, you get your money's worth. my goal was to purchase a smartwatch that allows me to use it for long runs and to listen to music so far this watch has exceeded my expectations. it's comfortable and the battery life lasts me all day.my second favorite feature of the watch is using Samsung pay so when I'm out and about I can simply tap it on the go for contactless purchases. The Samsung help app or strap our fantastic and they both work really well to watch. Also have no issues pairing with headphones like other folks occasionally I might have a drop if I'm running but if you usually be covers pretty quickly.I get at this price point it's a best buy.

The almost perfect smart watch for Android
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many options for android smart watch out there but none offers the ECG feature except this watch. The feature itself is not yet active but expect same degree of coolness like the Apple Watch series 4 and 5. What I like the most about this watch is that it feels like a real watch. So natural. The shape is round and the screen is sharp enough. I have no battery problem wearing the watch all day and night though the screen is always on. Granted that specific health and sports features may not work perfectly, but this is still a unique and great product. I once did e-scootering for an extended amount of time and the watch mistakenly thought I was doing bike riding. Not a big deal. There are some beautiful watch faces out there and the good news is, some of them are free. The only aesthetic aspects that may need further improvement in the future is the quality of the bezel. It's not fragile by any means but I just wish they made it out of steel instead of aluminum. So I bought a plastic case to protect the bezel, you don't have to but since this is a sport watch that would be subjected to extensive wear and tear it may be a good investment to get a case to protect the bezel. I also like the fact that there are many many cheap but good quality options for straps out there. You can change these straps easily to suit your appearance. Overall, really satisfied with this smart watch.

Responsive and Accurate
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this watch. Not only does it give time, but it also syncs EXTREMELY well giving notifications for apps of your choosing and not just messages and calls. It also tracks my heart rate, sleep patterns, and it even has a stress measurement (although I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is). Oh and did I mention you can load photos to it and listen to music on it as well?!?! You can do housework with music right on your arm! It responds well to the wake gesture and also to touch, 1 month in and no problems yet! Currently, my battery lasts about a day and a half with all functionality turn on and brightness up!

I really like it.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Gear S2 and more recently have been wearing the fit it Versa. I didn't really think haven't the notifications on my wrist again would be a big deal, but I was wrong. The Active 2 is extremely comfortable. The display and great and I get 2-3 days battery life easily. I usually throw it on the charger every third day while I'm in the shower. I've never been lower than 48% but am usually at around 68%. Answering calls on the watch has been great, even when the watch is in another room. I've even been able to take calls when the phone is on the floor below or above. (I live in a townhouse.) I don't use the "bezel" navigation as much add I did on the S2, but it works okay. I rarely give 5 star reviews, but I'd recommend this watch to anyone, especially android users.

Great watch, comfortable and stylish
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to get off of the apple bandwagon last May and changed over to the pixel phone. I really loved my apple watch, and bought a Galaxy watch. I liked the rotating bezel, but the watch was just too large for me. I stopped wearing it within 2 months. The Active2 is just small enough to be that much more comfortable on my wrist. The 'virtual' bezel took a little getting used to, but became natural after just a short while. I am not a fitness guy, and mainly used the apple watch for siri. So far, bixby is not quite as good, but it does the job well enough. Overall, I am very happy with the Active2. If the voice was a google service I am sure it would rival the apple watch and siri. That is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. John W.

Great watch, with one flaw
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch is the best looking smartwatch around. The Design is top notch and Tizen OS is great on a watch. Best: -Notifications on your wrist. Notifications are always available, you can leave your phone on silent and sill get important notifications. -Design. The round "traditional" watch design is great. The Silver variant looks nice, with a nice luster on the Stainless Steel. The black leather band is great, though if you want to use this at the gym or in water I suggest getting a second band and save the leather one for dressier occasions. Good: -Fitness. While not a true "fitness" watch of the Garmin or Suunto watch caliber, this is more than enough for your average Joe. Step tracking, Food tracking, Water tracking, Caffeine tracking, a bunch of exercise tracking, and sleep tracking are all included. With an app you can measure your blood pressure (you will need to use an actual blood pressure cuff to get a baseline for more, though not perfectly, accurate readings. Next year the ECG should be enabled, which will be a nice, if not super useful, feature. I do wish there was a SpO2 (blood O2 sensor) like the newer Fitbit or Garmin watches. -Tizen OS. Super smooth and responsive. The only downside is the app support. This has more to do with app developers not wanting to support another platform than the platform itself. Maybe someday Google will dump WearOS and use Tizen, though I highly doubt it. -Battery Life. Decent, nothing to write home to mom about though. I can get 2 days easily, with some active management of my settings (turn off AOD and LTE) I can get a few more. Bad: -Storage. This is the one major flaw I see. Why is there only 4GB of total storage, over 2 GB are used for the OS, leaving less than 2 GB of storage for watch faces, apps, and any locally stored pictures and music. I don't personally store pictures on my watch (I don't see a use with such a small screen) but I like to store music. I use Google Play Music, and since there is not app for TGizen, I download the music and put it on the watch, using the watch's built in music player. This is great for when I go running, no need to bring my phone as I have music and communication within the watch. But with about 1 GB of music, and a very rudimentary way to manage it, on the watch it gets very annoying. I almost did not buy the watch because of this single lack of a feature. Conclusions: The watch itself is amazing. It has nearly all the features I want. Samsung needs to add more storage, in 2019 4GB total storage on anything is unacceptable. Adding a Sp02 senor would also be great. Keep working with app developers and maybe try to incentivize more development within your ecosystem. Otherwise, this is an amazing watch, and honestly the best all-around smartwatch for Android users. In the end, I returned the watch and bought the LTE version.

Outstanding Watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As close to the iWatch as an Android user can get. The faces on this watch are actually better than the iWatch. It has everything. The band selection is outstanding. Just go on Amazon and search for the bands, they have a endless amount. Battery life is up to 2 days. Not as good as the the iWatch but close. Personally I can’t believe how good the watch faces are. Much better than my series 4 iWatch. And the price is really good!!!

Watch out
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works good , charges wirelessly with the wire provided and also charges on my samsung galaxy s20 ultra through reverse charging. Battery life is very dependent upon how much you use the watch have had it vary from 1 to 3 days , can copy photos , mp3 files and make calls using watches speaker and mic also counts steps and heart rate. Watch will also connect to galaxy buds plus which is handy for when my phone is dead and i wanna hear music.

lightweight, lasting batt, tracks a lot of things
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i used to own a heavy gear 3. i always say, if you cant bring it, you wont use it. its not good. this one, its so light you don't notice its there. i charge it every two days or three with the brightness set to low. give you good idea bout your workout, sleep, water , caffeine intake, etc. I also say, smart watch should be the only watch youishould own. especially if you're into tracking key fitness factors but get a protector. it could easily get scratched or damage without it.

Less masculine looking smart watch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new version is prettier than the huge watches I have had before. It has a few more functions. The problem I have with Samsung watches is they start to go haywire within about a year and a half. My last one lasted only nine months. This is why I keep buying the warranties. I like the watches and all they can do, and now I like the look better, but I have had to return these every year or so. I bought my first Samsung smart watch several years ago (when the watch face was long and narrow. I didn't buy the warranty. Same with the second. Back then the watches lasted just under 2 years. Which is why I keep buying the warranty.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 Smartwatch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up this watch for my wife, it is working really great. She shows me all of the time how many steps she gets in at work, what her heart rate is and most of all she can check and send text messages while at work on a busy showroom floor instead of pulling out her phone. The watch also will receive and let you view pictures that are sent via text message! I found it really amazing. I did get to try one out at work and I did this because my wife and I have Google Pixel 3a phones and wanted to make sure that a competing brand name like Samsung's smartwatch would work with the Pixel's and it did! I did just simply pair the watch at work and it did not work correctly. So I unpaired it and then downloaded the Samsung Smartwatch app that is suggested for this product and everything worked perfectly. It really is that easy. When we got home with my wife's watch, I let her go through the set up and she had no problems at all either. Only one phone at a time can be paired to this smartwatch and if you do pair a second phone, it will wipe all of the previous phones info when going through the process of pairing to the second phone. One more thing, you can answer phone calls with it, which is very convenient and the sound quality is not that bad at all. Decades ago, only James Bond could do these kinds of things with a watch! I think I might get one this fall, I have to be out side a lot and do not want to tarnish a nice finish from sweating.. The are also great looking watches and I like that you can change the clock theme to a few provided themes by Samsung or you can do what my wife did and download a app with a ton of themes, it cost under five dollars but gives a lot of options. This is a really fun watch!
