Coolest Watch I've Ever Owned!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I've basically had FitBit watches until getting the Galaxy Watch, so I can't give any comparison to previous generations of the Samsung watch series, but I can compare it to the FitBit Blaze that I have. This smartwatch is light years ahead of the Blaze! It's entering an entirely different dimension of usability and connectivity. When I'm wearing this watch, I'm not thinking about it as a health monitor like the FitBit, although it has all the health monitoring features of the FitBit. The health monitoring takes a back seat to all the other cool things this watch can do, so it's not always on my mind that I'm wearing a fitness tracker, which makes me want to wear it everywhere. It looks like a regular wristwatch, and it doesn't scream "I'm wearing a fitness tracker!", which is very nice. One of the coolest features is the way the well-known divers watch ring around the watch face works in a tactile feedback kinda way as you use it to cycle through pages, apps, or scrolling the text up and down while reading something on the screen. It's very functional, and intuitive! The clock faces are amazing, and wow there are a LOT of them you can use and download. It's like having a watch for every mood / occasion with a couple clicks. I love this! The faces display all kinds of information besides the time, if you want it like that, or just the time if you want to keep things simple. I was wondering how the battery life would be on a watch like this, and I was pleasantly surprised. With moderate usage, I have so far been charging it every 3 days or so, which is super easy with the wireless charging cradle that comes with the watch. You just set it in the little cradle, and it has a slight magnetic cling, and starts charging. No having to plug in a cable every time! Very slick! The integration with my Android phone, which is not a Samsung btw, is excellent. I've used the watch to send text messages, and make phone calls so far. The speaker on the watch is about what you'd expect from a watch sized speaker, I'd say. Decent enough for my tastes, but probably would not please everyone. It's a great extension of my phone, and allows me to interact with my phone without having to pull it out of my pocket, and also allows me to launch apps on the phone to see things "on the big screen". Super cool! The display is small, obviously, but it's surprisingly useful. It's obvious this has benefited from several generations of smartwatch improvements, and feels very polished. The UI is quite intuitive. Widgets let you have have all sorts of apps front and center, and you just cycle between them using the dial or the touch screen navigation. Then, you can see your last used apps, or step into the app directory with the app icons arranged in a ring fashion with paging, so it doesn't get overwhelming. I generally don't have any issue clicking the touchscreen, but sometimes if a clickable element is on the outer edge they can take a couple attempts to click depending on the size of your fingertips. Might be an issue for some, but a good amount of the clicking takes place towards the center. One really cool thing the Sumsung Health app does is remind you to do a some simple exercises or stretches, and suggest something, then goes into an interactive visual guide of the exercise and walks you through the exercise and counts your reps as you do them. This feels a lot more interactive than my FitBit, which is really basic in comparison. The setup was really easy, and the app on your phone that you download lets you adjust watch settings, look for new watch faces, see your fitness information... as a gadget nerd, this is nergasm material with this watch! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a smartwatch. I haven't tried connecting to a set of bluetooth headphones, but the bluetooth connection to my phone works excellent. The screen is bright and clear. Very easy to read in any lighting! Ok, back to playing with my new smartwatch :) So cool!

||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Samsung gear 3 watch my wife got for me on my birthday, so i wanted to reciprocate the gesture and bought her this. Its was a great watch for the first 3-4 months, but now seems to be not working properly, the wake up gesture no longer works, and does not properly sync with my wife's S9+

Not all features work as expected!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The step count was off and the stairs cpuntnever worked. I go up and down the stairs numerous times throughout the day and it never counted them. I had my fitbit blaze on and it didn't match the steps or the sleep well. I'll wait until Samsung tries again, so it can work with my Samsung 10+ phone.

Size too small/battery drain
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch because I prefered the midnight black color option but the size in my wrist fel too small. I charged it to 100% but after 1hr, the battery went down to 77%!!. This watch doesnt have a good battery even though Samsung states that it should last you more than 2days without re-charging.

A great addition to an already great line.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Gear S3 Frontier that I've used for a couple of years. It's a great watch. The 42mm Galaxy Watch is the perfect size for my wife. It has all the great features of my S3 with some welcome additions. First off, the battery is much better. After wearing the watch all day at work, she still has about 2/3 battery life leftover. That's much better than my S3 although maybe not as good as what the 46mm is boasting. But getting several days life out of single charge is a really big improvement. If you're not familiar with the Samsung smartwatches, they are pretty amazing devices. They come preloaded with a large amount of useful apps. One of the new ones I've noticed, is a Theater Mode app that is great for when you're sitting in a theater. It turns off the display so that you can't inadvertently turn it on in the middle of a movie and disturb the people around you. The touch screen is very responsive and recognizes taps the first time. Thanks to the Galaxy app store, there are quite literally thousands and thousands of watch faces (and apps) to choose from. This is a huge deal if you like to change faces a lot. Other smartwatch manufacturers don't have a large selection and really don't offer the tools for people to make their own faces. Samsung does, and by doing so, they have amassed an incredible variety and number of faces. The SHealth app really makes this watch worth getting. I use it on my S3 and it's one of the best fitness apps I've used. Combine that with the fact that it will automatically recognize various exercises that you start doing, and starts tracking them for you. It works really well and you don't have to remember to turn it on to use it, it starts when you start. The Galaxy also works for swimming. It has an IP68 (50 meter) rating that means aside from actual diving, you're good to go for swimming. It has a nice heart rate monitor which you can set to automatically check your heart rate at different intervals, or you can have it constantly to monitor your heart rate. New to the Galaxy Watch is a stress monitor, which can monitor your stress level. As it's predecessor does, you can receive and answer calls right from your wrist, get text messages and emails (and respond), and get notifications from a huge list of apps. It charges pretty quickly via a wireless charger (which is included). The rotating bezel is hands down the best user interface you could ask for and that, combined with two intuitive side buttons and the touch screen make for a very easy to use watch. I've used Android watches running Wear OS, and they don't even compare with the amount of features you get with the Samsung watches running Tizen. If I had any complaint at all (and I'm hard pressed to find any), it would be that it's a bit tall (thick?). That's to be expected with great battery life I guess. My wife loves the 42mm size, and I'm glad to see Samsung has listened to people who complained that the 46mm was just to big for them. These are all very competent and intuitive watches, and I would recommend any of them. They are by far, the best smartwatches available.

Battery life, an issue with this one...
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After ~19 months, the watch will no longer take a charge. This is the 2nd watch of this model I bought for my wife because the 1st one went dead after 2yr. Be cautious if considering purchasing this watch.

Defective watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apparently my watch is defective. It holds a charge for 18 to 28 hours only. No, i don't use it for anything except telling time. If i use it as a phone or to text the battery lasts 10 hours. It is on watch only mode. Called Samsung and now I need to send it in so they can fix the issue.
