I love this size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this watch because of the new smaller size. I have been wearing a Samsung Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier which I like very much. My wrists aren't small but they are very round, making larger watches uncomfortable at times. I find this new smaller size much more comfortable. The screens and apps have been updated and changed somewhat since I got the other watch but are quite easy to use and familiar. I really have come to depend on using the heart rate monitor, the step counter, the stair counter to remind me that some days I really need to get up and get moving. The reminder that I have been still too long isn't too useful for me because it always goes off when I'm stuck at my desk working and have few options to be active. It's really nice to be able to see texts and e-mails in the watch, especially when in meetings and staring at the phone is frowned on. An unexpected bonus is that my young granddaughters love the watch. They love to make "Dick Tracy" phone calls from the watch simply by pressing someones picture on the speed dial screen. They also think it's incredibly cool to control my phones music app through the watch and a Bluetooth speaker. Battery life has been great, some days I've used little over 10% of the battery when I get home from work. My two trivial complaints are 1. I miss the stopwatch on the Frontier watch face, I used it often and 2. The bezel is a bit too recessed for me, making it harder to grasp than the other version. Overall I am very happy with this watch, the new size works better for me.

Too big
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great watch, but if you have small wrists then skip this watch as it is very large in size. Apps work wonderful

Freedom Through Technology
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The world is so controlled technology, more than ever by cellphones. This can be a freedom, but it can also be limiting. The new Galaxy Watch, Samsung’s new smartwatch, allows users to enjoy all the freedom and benefits without any of the standard limits of carrying around a phone. As an active adventurer, my life has been simplified by owning a watch with the convenience, waterproofness, battery life, and health tracking it provides inspite of its equally jaw-dropping price tag. Whether it be at the gym, on the lake, or on all-day trip, the Galaxy Watch adds value to my life through convenience. When I go to the gym, it can be cumbersome to keep track of my phone. I have to pick it up and move it with me to the different equipment. I waste time propping it up somewhere when I am on the treadmill and making sure it is out of the way when I am on the mats so no one steps on it. The Galaxy Watch is attached to my arm so I never have to think about where it is. I can receive all my calls, texts, and stream music wirelessly all without having to keep track of where it is when I am moving around. Outside the gym, the watch is perfect for trips on the water. Whether kayaking, swimming, diving, or just being out in the rain, Galaxy Watch keeps your investment protected with a 5ATM waterproof rating. That means it can withstand pressures up to a 50 meter depth underwater. The user can be relaxed in using the watch without fear of the elements. While the waterproofness is a spectacular positive of owning a Galaxy Watch, one of my absolute favorite features is the all-day battery. This watch boasts a 472 mAh battery for its 46mm model, and a 270mAh battery for the 42mm model. I can use the larger watch for five days before I put it on the charger. While the smaller watch is about half the battery, that is still several days without having to worry about it dying. With the Galaxy Watch, I know I can make a call, text, pay with NFC, or even get an Uber® all on my watch. I can take pictures of all my adventures using my phone, without fear of my battery dying and potentially losing my ability to communicate and navigate. Not only can the watch be used for standard communication purposes, but as a fitness tracker, too. The Galaxy Watch can recognize and record up to 35 different activities. The user can get accurate and immediate data on calories burned, time spent on an activity, distance traveled, and heartrate. The heartrate feature serves not only to keep track of cardio workouts, but to detect when the user may be stressed. If the watch detects signs of stress, it will suggest ways to help relax like controlled breathing exercises. Galaxy Watch doesn’t just monitor health in time of activity, but also during sleep. The Galaxy Watch monitors the user’s sleep and offers detailed reports available on the Samsung Heath app with info such as the users REM sleep patterns. While the list of benefits and features for the watch impressive and eye catching, the price may also surprise some. The cellular capable Galaxy Watch is $369 for the 42mm size and $399 for the 46mm size. While the price is fairly standard for a smart watch, it is not in price range for all consumers. A fitness enthusiast could find a wearable health tracker for half the price of the Galaxy Watch if willing to sacrifice certain benefits like independent cellular service. As most people always have their cellphone on their person at all times, the watch can feel repetitive in utility, therefore making it more difficult to justify the cost. However, for those interested in water sports, frequent physical activity, or simply leaving their phone behind, the watch may be a fantastic solution very worth the price. Overall, I think the watch is an excellent device that adds value to the user’s life. The Galaxy Watch offers functionality that no phone can offer. If you are looking to get serious about your health and wellness goals, the watch may be the perfect solution. I highly recommend buying one, especially if you are a fitness enthusiast interested in the latest gear. They are currently exclusively available for activation on T-Mobile’s network, but can be Bluetooth connected to a phone regardless of carrier. I give it a five out of five-star rating, and two thumbs up!

Fantastic Update to the S3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a former S3 frontier owner. I wasn't sure if this watch was going to be worth the upgrade. I liked my S3, but my major problem was I have relatively small wrists for a male, so small that the thing JUST fit and didn't look awkward, but it was overall bulky and just never really found a spot in my heart. So I took the plunge and bought the Galaxy watch (Black of course) the day it came out. Upon opening and putting it on my wrist, it was perfect. 42mm hit the sweetspot just as my 42mm Swiss watch use to a couple years ago prior to my S3 investment. A thing to note is the girth of the watch is still the same. So while the face of the watch is smaller, the girth is still the same, but in my opinion less noticeable. The side buttons still click confidently and feel satisfying when pressed, and the turn-dial is a nice upgrade. It's still notchy as expected, but feels slightly more "secure" than my S3 did - the S3 had a vague cheapness feel in the turn-dial. The galaxy watch improves upon this, but still doesn't completely fix it. The band is actually quite nice. Feels good and doesn't pull on the arm hair. I'll still order a couple more different bands to keep it feeling fresh and mix and match with watch faces. I have found that all of the faces I purchased for my S3 do download and work correctly on the Galaxy watch. So that was nice to see. And finally, and I think the biggest overall improvement is Tizen 4.0. The colors are more vivid, things are definitely snappier on response, and there's just little pieces of improvements such as transitions and animations that just make the watch feel like it's overall higher quality. You can now have background colors that work with translucent buttons on the screen when given options. Again, Tizen 4.0 just brings the watch up a notch and makes it feel more premium. Not that Tizen 3.0 was bad, but more could be done to make me believe I was wearing a top notch watch. To be clear, the difference between Tizen 3.0 and 4.0 is not drastic, but it adds the appropriate flare to make you say, "oh that's cool, this is a high quality watch." Unlike others, I always liked Tizen. I think it's the perfect pair to the Samsung eco system, and I always found it intuitive, it just never jumped out and grabbed my attention. With the new vibrant colors and animations/transitions, I think Samsung may have breathed new life into Tizen. Overall, I'm quite pleased I upgraded over my S3, most definitely to have a more size-appropriate watch on my wrist, but the software updates and refresh has been a pleasant surprise as well. Pleased to see the direction Samsung went with this.

Not for iPhone
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This probably would be a nice piece if I had a galaxy phone . But I was under the impression that it would still work with an iPhone ( I’ll be it ) at limited capacity but it really doesn’t work with an iPhone at all . At least not unless you just want a watch . So I returned it .

It's ok
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life not up there yet. Malfunction with compatibility with the phone with note 9. Was saying that apps and do the update and wouldn't return my watch to the phone, and the phone wouldn't fix any of the bug problems it would just freeze up. It's super pretty and slick. But just not there yet.

Decent Smartwatch but needs work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung - Galaxy Watch Smartwatch 42mm Stainless Steel - Midnight Black is a well featured smartwatch backed up by the Samsung ecosystem; even if the Tizen OS ecosystem is still in its infancy. This review will be done in 3 parts – features, usage impressions, and pros/cons. Features: The watch comes with the following main features; • It is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones • It connects with Bluetooth • Smart Notifications • Customizable watch faces • Samsung Health Fitness Tracking • Swim Ready (50m submerge) • Water Resistant (10m submerge) • Built-in speakers/microphone • Samsung Pay (not tested) Usage Impressions: This watch is well designed. I like the black color and bands. The 42 mm size is appropriate, and I would not want a watch that is much larger (Note that I am 5-7 in height). This watch is heavier than others I have owned in the past, while this takes some getting used to it is a sign of its The interface with the rotating bezel and the buttons is easy to learn and somewhat intuitive It can be much quicker to get to where you need vs other watches that use buttons for navigation. I found the notifications capability to be very overwhelming when getting emails (Like I have on my current smart/fitness watch) – thus I turned them off early in my usage. The fitness capabilities are comparable to other watches I have used and since I was wearing both my current device and this one at the same time, they tracked consistently with one another. I used two watch faces during this review and found them to be easy to find and switch between. Pros: Appearance, durability, user interface Cons: App availability, notifications can be troublesome, no native GPS app,
