    Switching from Gear Fit

When my wife broke the band on her Gear Fit device, she started looking for replacements, including just replacing the band. She decided to switch to the smart watch, since she also recently upgraded her phone to the Galaxy Note 9. She is happy with the watch and learns new useful features about it every day. She gave the Gear Fit to her sister...

I would not go without my smartwatch! It records when I am feeling AFib so my cardiologist can see the episodes. Alarms are awesome and keep me on track and in time. So many features like a record of step, diet, fluids etc.

    Variety of apps

    Posted .

It has good work out apps which helps you work out but I'm not really sure if the steps counter is accurate. If you have small wrists like myself, I wouldn't recommend it because it's too big which makes it uncomfortable. It doesn't sit well on my small wrist. It's constantly moving and if I tighten it then it's too tight and loosening it is too loose. The bulkiness of the design tends to hit other things around it if you're constantly using your hands. The writing is a bit annoying because of the round shape. I wish they would allow you to customize the face watch instead of downloading premade ones and I would like them to add more Always on Display layout than just the one style. It's not very customizable like the apple watch unless I just don't know how to do it. Battery life is pretty good. If i sleep with the watch on, it usually give me about 2 days but I disable all my notification except for text messages and calls. I do like the sleep tracker, not sure if it's accurate but it's interesting to know your sleep level. Overall, I personally don't like this watch because it just doesn't fit my life style and what I want in a smart watch.

Beautiful but not functional enough for the $$

I LOVED wearing this watch. It was so pretty and the spinning bezel was an elegant design. BUT for this price - it is missing some serious functionality. It is getting returned to my Best Buy store ASAP. I wanted a smart watch mainly for work because I cannot carry my phone around everywhere (darn ladies pants pockets are too small). It was great for a day or two but then I found some serious flaws. 1. Cannot see or connect to my work guest wifi which is brand new installed a year ago using Mist which rocks. 2. VIP notifications for emails work on my Samsung phone but not on the watch. So its either all emails (50-100 a day) or none notifying me on the watch. 3. I didn't know this was a seperate OS , which means you have to get apps from the samsung store not regular Android apps and there is just less there to choose from. 4. Bixby is terrible and you can't get google assistant

    Step count WAY off

    Posted .

This watch looks great and it does a lot. I was really excited about it, until I saw how horrible the step count is. It was thousands of steps lower than it should be. After I noticed this, I did a search and found I was far from alone on this basic issue. Also, I found that those experiencing this issue are getting no support from Samsung and a run around about when it will be fixed. I'm extremely disappointed in this watch and will be returning it and going back to my fitbit. Do your research before you buy this to save yourself the trouble. Unless accurate step count isn't high on your list of functions. Other than that I really like it. I wish I could make it work for me, but I need the step count function.

I've been using this watch for 3 years now and all works fine. Always On mode is tough on the battery and will not last a day now. I used it in my workouts and it keeps good track. Overall very satisfied, now searching for a replacement.

I was looking for a tech watch and google this -went to the store to test it out and a month later I love it! It does everything, calls, text messages, counts your steps and even helps you exercise! This is convenient and easy to use!

Great watch but way too bulky...

I loved the muted colors but I was just overwhelmed with using the watch and getting all the settings just right. But ultimately it was the bulkiness that really bothered me. Great functionality and looks but in the end it just wasn't for me.

Great watch but not an activity tracker

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I traded my faulty FitBit in on Friday 2/22 and was notified that Best Buy no longer has a warranty contract with FitBit so I was on the hunt for an activity tracker that still had a warranty available. I looked at the Garmin's but didn't see the one I wanted in stock and wasn't going to pay $800 for another one. The associate told me about the Samsung smartwatch after letting him know I have an S9. I was excited as I looked at all the features. The tell tale sign should've been the fact that all they had in the case were open box watches. He went to the back to get a new one.. I loved the watch up until today when I realized it's terrible. I customized the watch how I wanted it with a cool free watchface. Organized and setup all my apps and workout shortcuts. I was kind of lazy this weekend so I didn't think anything of it when I didn't have many steps. Although I was kind of peeved it wasn't tracking the floors as it should have been. I had been up and down our steps in our 2 story house several times and it showed I only went up 1 set of stairs. Today I got ready to go for a run at my lunch break and noticed I only had 2,000 steps and 1 flight of stairs. I typically have 6,000 steps and 5 flights of stairs with my Fitbit. So, not only is it a little bit off, it's way off! The watch also vibrates anytime you are out of reach of your phone and buzzes again once you get in reach and puts a ton of useless notifications on your phone. I will be going tomorrow and returning the watch and going back to Fitbit even though there is no warranty available. It's the only product that I have loved, this watch, not so much!

Gave it a try, not for me.

I had a Fitbit Ionic for 14 months before it crapped out. Did a bunch of online research into the Galaxy watch, went into Best Buy and talked to the salesman about it. I am partial to Samsung, and really wanted it to work and for me to fall in love with it. Bought it, and set it up and was playing around with it and really started to like it. Has many more features than the Ionic, and functions more efficiently. It is smaller than the Ionic, which is surprising given all of its capabilities, and the wireless charging is pretty cool. Wore it around at night, and went to bed with it, woke up and the appeal started t get lost. With the Ionic, I could easily get 4-5 days out of one charge after changing the settings to accomplish what I wanted, and this is what I became used to. After the first night with the Galaxy, I woke up to a 68% battery remaining, by mid afternoon it was down into the 30's. I quickly realized this would be an everyday charge deal. The software for the Galaxy is rough around the edges compared to the Fitbit software. With the Galaxy you have to download the wearables app, but all of your health tracker information is used in Samsung Health, Fitibit only requires one app. Fitbit interfaces with many more third party apps as well. If you are primarily looking for a fitness device like I was, unfortunately this is not the item for you. It does not provide constant heart rate monitoring unless you select that, which would drastically reduce the already daily battery life. For food logging, there is no option to scan bar codes. It is a very rudimentary app. The Galaxy does provide more precise workout modes than the Ionic, one of the few advantages it has over the Ionic. I really wanted to fall in love with this thing, but if you are buying it primarily as a fitness device and don't want to charge it everyday, this is not the item for you. If you don't mind charging it everyday and don't want to log food with the Samsung Health app, then I strongly recommend this item. When Samsung comes out with an Ionic type device with a battery that lasts at least three days, I will gladly jump ship. (BestBuy employee told me the Galaxy Active has a shorter life than the regular Galaxy watch, so i didnt even bother trying that one out.)

Awesome watch even today in 2021. Tizen OS from 2018 still can compete with Wear OS in 2021.

    Great Watch...but

So the 42mm says 4 days of charge. Misleading. 2 days at most and that's with everything stock. I think the advertisement might be with everything off and in sleep mode so the display never comes on when you look at it. I hate it when manufacturers overstate their specs. If your going to state "4 days", then state what criteria will get you there. If I have to turn everything off to get 4 days, why did I buy it? Would have received 5 stars otherwise. Going to call Samsung support to review. The only saving grace is that it doesnt take long to charge.
