    Great Refinement over S3

Bottom line, the galaxy watch is just a refinement of the already great Gear S3. Everything has been improved, the battery life is excellent 24 hours with 20% battery used, more accurate sensors and improved fitness tracking. However there is one big negative, no MST if you use Samsung pay one the coolest features of the S3 was being able to pay with the watch just about everywhere. I got so many comments about how cool it was and now that has been removed, it is a big step back not having MST anymore. It really makes using Samsung pay with the watch useless as most places do not have NFC. I removed 2 stars because of this limitation.

    Nice but not great

First things first, the materials are fragile. Ive already got a little nick on the bezzle within the first 24 hours of ownership. It works ok, but its definitely something you have to work with to get it justbright for you. Battery is really good, screen us nice except in really bright sunlight. Also its big. I wanted a bigger watch but if you don't, then don't get it. I'm glad I didn't pay full price and glad I got this at a discounted rate. I dont see it holding up well and i may end up get and apple watch. Even though i is my Samsung Note more than my iPhone, I feel like the apple watch is more durable.

    Solid! Better than Wear OS

So bottom line this is a great watch!... Easily 4 days of battery life. The fluidness of it is way better than Wear OS. Pairs with my Google Pixel 2 XL with no issues. Giving it 4 stars because Bixby is useless and should be Google assistant Instead....

    A lot of weirdness

This will be partially some tips and problem reports but I'm also starting to think the watch is defective or I have some physiological issue that makes me incompatible. The final straw was last night I had about a one hour phone call and afterwards I got an alert to tell me that I was asleep while on the phone and a progress report on the quality of my sleep. Previous two nights the watch auto-locks thinking that it's been removed from my wrist while I'm asleep. It's super swell having to enter a 4 digit code when you're mostly asleep but want to check your messages. For a sleep tip you should know that Goodnight mode and Do Not Disturb both say in the manual that alerts will be suspended. But not all alerts. You will get vibrated in your sleep if it looses connectivity with your phone. So if your phone is in in fringe location get ready for the worse sleep of your life. I understand that the watch might think it's protecting you from someone stealing your phone in your sleep but again this happening while you are in zombie land isn't good. You can turn this alert off but if you do that means no protection for your phone going out of range during the day unless you go through many gyrations to turn it back on and then you have to remember to turn it off of sleep with your phone. Another note for Goodnight is it takes several steps to turn it on. You can put a short cut on the pull down menu though you have to bump something else first. This is another irritating feature of the phone. I have to try several swipes to get the menu to pull down. While you can turn off exercise reminders, they don't go away all the way. It seems Samsung thinks we don't make wise declensions so the reminder still pops up from time to time in the drag down menu. This area is way crowded as it is and I don't appreciate the harassment. But what do I know? I have three devices that have Bixby on them and I hate them all so it must be me. I have a 12 step staircase in my home. I'd say 3% or so of the time the watch will acknowledge I climbed the steps. The manual says it requires a 10 foot change in elevation which I more than covered. I don't know how it determines this. Altimeter? GPS? Accelerometer? Mind you my Fitbit Charge 2 nails it every time. At midnight when both counters were at 0 I walked a local Walmart with the Fitbit but also counted the steps off in my head. I'd guess that the count is 8% ish undercount and it's hard to test in my house since there is a lag until the watch reports steps. You can see 1000 steps then walk 100 steps and it still shows 1000 steps. Then, suddenly the counter goes nuts and reports 1100 or for me around the house a lot less. The sleep reporting isn't as detailed as the Fitbit which reports actual stages though who knows if that's accurate. If you awake for about 5 minutes the watch resets to a new sleep period. I prefer one report instead of having to average stuff out. But again, this is a device that thinks I'm asleep when I'm talking and that I'm totally not wearing the watch during sleep period. Logically the sleep data HAS TO BE FALSE if the watch thinks I've gone missing. How can it insist I give it a pass code because I'm not present yet get the sleep right? I'm either there or not. The screen is very nice and quite snappy. It's flabbergasting to realize no stopwatch or timer app comes with the phone. The Samsung Timer app in the Galaxy store is nice and free but I never loaded it. The stopwatch has a lot of complaints. How these aren't included with the phone is baffling. I also got prompted for an exercise that was detected that I wasn't doing. Be prepared to turn off auto dectect if it happens to you.

    Nothing Really New

So I purchesd the Galaxy watch 46mm on Friday morning and just returned it today. I really wasn't impressed I had the frontier and it was ok. 1st of all so called Bixby app on the gear is just a icon don't be fooled it's the same old crappy svoice. Now the watch was very well made and looked great pairing with my note 9 was a breeze. Just noting that makes me swith from my Android Wear. I will wait for the new chipset to come out for Android Wear then consider another watch ,right now the market is really stale for Android. I have allot of smarthome items lights, locks, speakers etc and no smartthigs intergration just not what I'm looking for in a 350.00 smartwatch I guess u can say this is more if your into fitness. We already have enough fitness watches on the market wish someone would come out with a great smartwatch

Faulty HR sensor & Step Counter

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This watch is a disgrace to Samsung. How they can get away with producing something so faulty is absolutely amazing. from the day I bought the watch it started out pretty good giving me at least 3 days battery use on one charge. Then out of the blue the heart rate monitor stopped working and the step counter work sporadically. Due to the heart rate monitor not working, it does not monitor your sleep properly as well. The Gear 3 never accurately picked up any floors climbed so I wasn't surprised when the new Galaxy watch didn't either. If you check Samsung's forms you'll see that this is an ongoing issue that Samsung is ignoring. The watch cost $350 & should not be having these major problems only after a couple weeks. I'm so disappointed in Samsung.

It is a very basic smart watch that just works. Most people dont need a lot of the gimmicks. Told time, the weather, heart rate, steps, and i could see who calls without pulling out my phone.

Not reliable for downloading music, fitness track

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the second time I have purchased a Galaxy Watch for fitness. I wanted a watch that I could download music/podcasts so I didn't have to take my phone on runs, and I could track my mileage. I worked pretty well for a couple months, but then it started to not download music in Spotify. When it did download, it would either take 30 minutes or it would not show that it had downloaded (when it really did). And it has inexplicably stopped tracking my workouts halfway through several runs. The huge problem with Galaxy/Android is that you have to rely on third-party apps to do anything interesting, and the options are very few and not that great. The "market" simply hasn't produced a sufficiently reliable number of apps to make this watch un-risky. Apple's seamlessness rules this part of the smartwatch productivity market.

Finally upgraded from my S3 Frontier & I'm certainly very pleased. The rotating bezel design has been improved & battery life has been improved. I'm no longer jealous of my wife & her Apple Watch. Thanks to BBY for the excellent service.

Great smart watch with a huge problem.

I wanted this watch for a long time and my wife gave it to me for X-Mas. It was great until I wore it while driving. My car has a built-in hands free system that connects, by Bluetooth to my phone. During calls in my care on the hands free system, the watch would interfere with the speaker and microphone (usually after a few seconds into the call) turning them off. It happened on every call. I contacted Samsung that told me that I should unpair the watch from my phone before getting into my car which is unacceptable and inconvenient. Samsung needs to resolve this problem. Most newer vehicles have "hands-free" phone systems. I cannot recommend this product until this problem is resolved.

Great smartwatch and works flawlessly with my Galaxy S9+. I would give this a 5 star rating if it had Google Assistant cause let's be real, Bixby is mediocre. I hope Samsung has an update in the future to allow Google Assistant on the smartwatch.
