I did, however, replace the strap with a metal one from amazon. That was an improvement for me. My wrist is on the thicker side and the strap included was not really cutting it.

Just search for Galaxy Watch step counter and you'll see. I contacted the Samsung US CEOs office. They didn't have any word on when a fix was available, or even if there was one in the works. If I had an ETA on a fix, I would have kept the watch. But I wound up returning it. The steps being off that much was a deal breaker for me.
