Lives up to the ULTRA name - Best WearOS watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: * Premium look and feel * Beautiful bright display * Smooth WearOS UI * Battery life has improved (but could be better) * Robust fitness features * Larger size (this may be a CON for some, but for me it's a PRO) * Speaker and call quality is excellent CONS: * No rotating screen (should be here for an Ultra watch experience) * Some health features are locked to Samsung phones * Price Here it is. The possible answer to all Android fans who have wished for an "Ultra" watch that has WearOS running on it. I know I have been wishing for this for so long that I ended up going with a Garmin Forerunner 965 for my smart watch needs. I wanted something premium and practical - and a tool to help me stay motivated on exercising. The Forerunner does a great job at most things, but it obviously lacks WearOS as well as the flair that Samsung brings to their products. And boy do they bring the flair with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. I've also owned a Pixel Watch 1 and 2, a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6 (the premium versions). I tend to rotate between a lot of them. But Samsung has always been the one I felt was the most premium and best all-around. It's a beautiful watch - that is evident as soon as you unbox it. It packs a heft, but the look of it differs from the majority of other watches. Yes, it borrows a lot of colors from the Apple Watch Ultra, but that is where the similarities end, really. If you don't get the orange band, you'll won't notice any similarities. The watch is round and square - if that makes sense. The squared border around the circular watch face gives it this unique design that to me looks so much better in person than the still pictures. It has a very premium look to it that you can customize to your liking depending on the band you use. Samsung has their own OEM bands, but there are plenty out in the wild that are much cheaper, though not as quality. Samsung's WearOS is snappy and fluid this time around. I haven't had any hiccups or glitches with the software since I put it on my wrist a week ago. Battery life continues to improve the more I use the watch. As of today, I get around 1.5-2 days with everything turned on and using the GPS for long runs or walks at least once a day. This also takes into consideration the LTE connectivity. I have mine on my Verizon plan and often don't even bring my phone on these runs, which I'm sure hits the battery even more. Though, coming from the Garmin, which boasts 3-week battery life, it is shocking to have to charge it every other day, but I know that's the price I want to pay for WearOS and a full-fledged smart watch experience. Once you get the band fitted properly to you, it's a very comfortable watch to wear. The crown balances the weight perfectly for me - I would say it's more comfortable than the Forerunner, which was surprising because of the massive size of it. Technology devices seem to keep going up and up in prices. I'm not sure why that is other than companies just wanted more and more profit, but for this watch to be $650, it really needs to be a premium product, which I think it is. But that's a large jump from the Galaxy Watch 7, which is in itself an excellent watch that will do 90% of what this Ultra watch does, so does it justify the high price? I'm not sure. It is cheaper than the Apple Watch Ultra, but Apple prices are nothing short of ridiculous a lot of the times. In a perfect world I would want Android to come up with an Ultra watch that was a hybrid between the Pixel watches and Samsung's. I think that's the only way to truly overthrow Apple in the smartwatch game. With that being said, I think the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is just as good as Apple's in the majority of ways. I for one like the design of this versus the Apple Ultra. As of now, this is my favorite WearOS watch I've had and I have a feeling I will always come back to it, even with the other watches I own. If you don't mind the price and desire the most premium Android watch you can get, this is it and it's not even close.

Love my watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my Galaxy Watch Ultra in Titanium White! It looks sleek, modern, and high-end the white titanium really pops and gets compliments all the time. It’s lightweight but feels super sturdy, and the 47mm face is the perfect size for both readability and comfort. The LTE feature is incredibly convenient I can leave my phone at home and still stay fully connected. Calls, texts, streaming music all from my wrist without a hitch. The battery life holds up surprisingly well even with LTE and all-day use. Fitness tracking is spot on, and the health features like heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking are accurate and easy to use. The display is sharp and bright, even in full sun. Overall, this is the best smartwatch I’ve owned. If you're looking for something with style, substance, and serious features, this is the one.

No rotating bezel, but FAST and long battery life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s get the elephant in the room immediately out of the way: the Galaxy Watch Ultra copied a lot from its competitor’s Ultra watch. But that watch isn’t compatible with Android phones while the Galaxy Watch Ultra is. So, if you were envious of the other watch, know that the Galaxy Watch Ultra takes a lot of design cues from it. The watch has a square encased in a square but the display itself is still circular. Some people call it a squircle. Some call it cushioned. The display has a 1.5” diameter, which is the same size as the Galaxy Watch 7 44mm’s display. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is only labeled at 47mm because it includes the case, but as you can see, that method of marketing is deceptive. There is a clear advantage to the 47mm over the 44mm but it has nothing to do with the display and more to do with the other internal hardware. Internally, the larger space allows the Dynamic Lug System, which is used for switching bands on the Ultra, to fit. Band installation is fool proof. You simply push the band into the watch until it clicks. No more finding tiny pinholes, and aligning the band’s pins to fit inside them like traditional bands or the Galaxy Watch 7. Removing bands on the Galaxy Watch Ultra is as simple as pressing the eject buttons on the back of the watch. At the same time, they will never eject accidentally no matter how hard I forcefully push the watch against my skin or clothes. Unlike its doppelganger from another company, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has speakers that you can play content with. It comes with LTE, so if you use it with a mobile plan, you can use it independently without your phone to stream music from apps like Spotify while you’re on a run. The speakers are also convenient for playing back voice memos. Or for your alarm to wake you up when you wear the watch to sleep. What makes the Galaxy Watch Ultra different from the previous generations of Samsung watches is that the Ultra has the best sounding speakers yet. They’re the loudest and open sounding that they don’t sound like they’re coming from inside a tin can. Not just for music and video, they also enhance the quality of phone calls with the watch. Calls can be heard as clear as a phone’s speakerphone and people on the other side of the line couldn’t tell I was using my watch to answer their call. At no point did either of us ask to repeat anything because the calls were so clear. Despite the heavier weight, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is very comfortable to wear. Maybe it has something to do with the stock watch band evening out the around your wrist. I’m not sure. The watch band itself is very breathable and doesn’t irritate my skin. The part of the band that holds the tail end of the band in place is metal, but more importantly, it stays in place when worn. I never have to fidget with it, worrying about it sliding off and not keeping my band in place like other watch bands of this type. The disadvantage of this is that it hits the palm rest and edge of my laptop. I worry about it scratching my laptop, so I usually take it off. This can be remedied by using a different watch band. The processor is one of the highlights of Samsung’s latest release of smart watches, which includes the Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. With Samsung’s previous releases, I’ve never noted the processor’s performance, but with the Galaxy Watch Ultra (and I assume the Watch 7 as well since they use the same processor) the improvement is a lot more noticeable! Everything feels so much more responsive. Apps like Samsung’s Internet browser are the big winners for this. Unfortunately, if you’re using it as a Wi-fi device, the Watch Ultra will prioritize the Bluetooth tethered connection with your phone over actual Wi-fi so using the Internet app will still appear sluggish due to it using the internet data over bluetooth from your phone. There is no way to keep it on Wi-Fi because while you can connect to it manually, it will eventually automatically disconnect. Wi-Fi is mainly used for updates as was the case with the older Wear OS Wi-Fi Galaxy Watches. What separates the Ultra from the 7 are a few things. One of them is the battery life. I ignored Samsung’s Watch6 line because they didn’t release a watch that was comparable to or better than my Watch5 Pro. Not even with the Watch6 Classic, which saw the return of the physical bezel. The Galaxy Watch Ultra uses a 590mAh battery, the same rating as the Watch5 Pro. Using the Photo watch face with no monitoring complications except for battery, I was able to fit 2 workouts across 2 days, with a battery life span of 44 hours. However, with the Ultra Info Board watch face, which has the heart rate monitor, compass, and battery complications, under the same usage I got 41 hours of battery life. With that said, it lasts one whole day with a session of sleep easily under heavy usage. I found this more or less similar to my Watch5 Pro. The Ultra also has a Quick button which isn’t present on the Watch 7. It’s a customizable button that’s unfortunately extremely limited to Samsung’s own Health app and a few system functions- Stopwatch, Flashlight, Water Lock. Or you can set it to no function at all. It’s setting it to the Health app that makes it truly convenient because you have the option to assign it to a specific exercise. Even better than that is during workouts, a single press of the Quick button will pause or resume the workout tracking. A double press records a lap when running or biking. And my favorite: a press and hold will finish the exercise. I no longer have to slide a menu open to pause or end an exercise, which was so inconvenient. It’s a shame Samsung doesn’t allow you to assign the button to third party apps. But if the quick button suits your needs, it’s a moot point. Holding the Quick button for 5 seconds activates a siren which is loud and piercing. My issue with it though is that after it’s activated, it uses up 10 seconds to make a blaring sound- like a warning sound- before it gets to the piercing siren sound. I imagine for dire emergencies when you need immediate attention from people that can be very frustrating and counterproductive. Unlike the 7, the Ultra is made of titanium instead of aluminum, so it’s more durable and resistant to dents. However, it still won’t help prevent scratches so keep that in mind, especially with the black paint on the bezel. Both use sapphire crystal glass which make them very resistant to scratches, which is great to have when you’re touching the screen a lot of the time. Bear in mind, sapphire crystal isn’t for preventing damage on impact, so it can still crack. I can’t speak to the accuracy of its health monitoring other than the heart rate monitor matches what I get on a treadmill when I’m running at the gym. It has other gimmicky monitoring like ECG and sleep apnea, but the watch itself warns you of its accuracy and that it shouldn’t be substituted for actual medical equipment. To monitor sleep apnea, you need to sleep with the watch twice over a 10 day span. After that, if you don’t have sleep apnea, the Watch Ultra simply tells you it didn’t detect it. I can’t tell you what it tells you or what information it provides if you do since apparently, I don’t experience sleep apnea for the watch to trigger it. The library of apps and watch faces is one of the main reasons to choose a Wear OS watch over a fitness watch and the Galaxy Watch Ultra is arguably the best one currently on the market. It runs on the latest Wear OS 5 thanks to its partnership with Google. Besides having the latest features, it also ensures compatibility with the newer apps that get released or updated, unlike some other Wear OS watches out there. Historically, Samsung has been great with releasing updates for its Wear OS watches as well. The cons going against the Galaxy Watch Ultra is despite it being marketed as a fitness watch for fitness enthusiasts and adventurers, it doesn’t deliver the way other sports smartwatches do. For starters, there is no physical control option for when you’re really drenched. Many have complained about the absence of the physical bezel on the Watch Ultra but it’s more than that. They could have added buttons for physical control navigation. They could have made the Quick button a rotating crown. They didn’t. Without it, using it in the rain or when you’re drenched in sweat, becomes a challenge as the liquid will register accidental inputs and make it behave erratically. And that itself can be a deal breaker for the serious athlete or adventurer. For ECG and sleep apnea tracking, it can only be done with a specific list of Samsung phones since it’s isolated to the Samsung Health Monitor app, which is not compatible with any other Android devices, including older Samsung phones. The Watch Ultra’s battery life pales in comparison to some smartwatches in the market but you have to consider that those watches don’t offer the same user experience as the Watch Ultra either. Their OS can feel more basic and sluggish. Their app library is nowhere near as expansive or active as Wear OS. You’re also paying significantly more for the battery life and wearing a heavier watch compared to the Watch Ultra. So there’s no easy recommendation for everyone since everyone’s different. I wouldn’t recommend the Watch Ultra for the serious athlete because its fitness data and lack of physical controls for navigation is a deal breaker when you can find them on other sports smartwatches. But for the casual user that works out, it’s probably the best you can get for Android phone users. You will be paying more for the battery life, stronger titanium build, and the quick button, but the price is comparable to what other companies charge for this sort of watch- cheaper in some cases. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth it.

Excellent upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro that I’ve been wearing for a few years now, I was expecting a similar experience with the Ultra. When you live with a watch day to day for a couple of years it kind of just fades into the background. I had the opportunity to upgrade to the Ultra and figured replacing the two-year-old technology was probably a good idea. As I said, I expected a similar experience to the GW 5 Pro, but I’m happy to say the Ultra is a vast improvement and I find myself interacting with it more and taking advantage of the features the watch has to offer. It’s not so much that the Ultra has so many new and wonderful features over the GW 5 as it is the speed and processing power of the new chip set being leaps and bounds above my previous Galaxy watch. I think the main reason my GW 5 became more of a wristwatch than a smart watch was the laggy interface with everything from the complications on the face to simply unlocking it with a pattern lock. This is not the case with the GW Ultra. There is zero lag on the interface compared to my last G watch and that alone made it worth the upgrade. In addition to the snappy interface, the brightness of the display is noticeably improved. The GW 5 topped out at 1000 nits and the Ultra has tripled that to an amazingly easy to read 3000 nits no matter how bright the sun is.In regard to the usability of the display, one of the new features on the Ultra is Night Mode. As a person who works at night, I can attest to the advantages of the “easy on the eyes” all red display at night. It’s definitely one of my favorite features. My only complaint is that I wish it was available on more, if not all of the available watch faces. Currently, Samsung only offers the night mode on two of their watch faces and both of those are analog. I prefer a digital watch face and I do hope that they will make the night mode available on more faces in a future update. The squared circle design of the watch may not be for everyone. Personally, I like it very much. It is a very large watch (47mm) but I have wrists on the larger side and the watch size suites me just fine. I always put a bumper guard or case on my smart watches and in this case I went with the Spigen rugged armor case. It adds a little more bulk to the watch, but I can’t see spending $650 for something that will inevitably smash into things and not protect it when possible. I haven’t found either accessory to impede the usability of the watch in any major way. Another one of my favorite features is the built in LTE. My GW 5 was wi-fi/bluetooth only. I love the idea of my watch being a stand-alone device especially if I’m running, biking, or any other outdoor activity. Having the ability to leave my phone with its extra bulk at home and still enjoy all of the features of streaming music or podcasts, taking and making calls, and google assistant is definitely worth the couple of dollars that your carrier charges a month to add a watch to your account. There has even been the occasional time when I left the house without my phone and had to turn around. Now I can definitely make do with the watch by itself (temporarily) with the addition of LTE. Battery life is much improved over my GW 5. Between the larger capacity battery and the improved chipset, 48 hours of use is easy to achieve. If you play with the power save mode and are mindful of what you’re doing, I’m sure 72 hours or more are well within the Ultra’s capabilities. I personally don’t sleep with the watch on just because I find it uncomfortable. Not just this watch. I can’t sleep with watches or rings or just about any other accessory. That said, my watch goes on the charger whenever I’m asleep. I had to force myself to test it for 48 hours and it held up just fine. Also, since I don’t sleep with the watch on, I can’t really speak to it’s sleep tracking ability. I would mention however, one of the new tricks of the Ultra is the sleep apnea diagnosing feature. If that’s something you're interested in and you don’t mind sleeping with a watch on, this might be a selling point for you. Overall, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is a vast improvement over the Galaxy Watch 5 pro that I had been using. My favorite features are definitely the elimination of UI lag and the huge improvement in display. My biggest criticisms would be the lack of options for watch faces with night mode and the lack of a rotating bezel or functional crown for scrolling. I think Samsung missed the boat on adding one of these features. If you’re an Android user the Galaxy Watch Ultra is a bit pricey at $650 ($200 more than my GW 5 pro) but I would say the improvements are worth the price of admission. Also, there are trade in offers available if you're upgrading from a previous Galaxy watch. I am very happy with my Galaxy Watch Ultra up to this point and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra Titanium 47mm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was currently a Samsung Watch 5 user and I wanted an upgrade. When I saw the new Samsung 7 Ultra, although pricey, this watch has the coolness of the bigger, non-smart watches I used to have like the ones from Invicta. My watch 5 was a 40mm and the new 7 Ultra is a 47mm. Bigger, but if you have had bigger watches before and were fine with them, this one will appease you as well. It’s nice! As far as aesthetics, the look and feel of this is amazing, if you have ever worn a bigger watch, you will not even notice this one. Even while walking, mowing, swimming, chilling, this watch’s feel is seamless and non-intrusive. Now for the features, I am blown away at the improvements in the Samsung Health app for the Watch 7. I really liked the health app on the watch 5 but the watch 7 has opened up additional features that really step up the health game. I really like the Sleep Score which seems to do a much better job of analyzing my sleep. Even if I have to get up to go to the bathroom and come back to sleep, it seems to recognize that this is not but just an interruption in the sleep pattern. The Watch 7 measures the entire night and has a more accurate sleep score. It also offers suggestions such as less alcohol before bed and other things that may aid in better sleep scores. Some may think this is a big watch to sleep in but it only took me 2 nights to get used to it. I do think its important to not have it too loose on your wrist or you could get inconsistent results. I always check mine before going to bed and have been pleased with the accuracy of the measurements after the first couple nights wearing it. One health measurement feature I really like is the Energy Score. Within the Health app on my phone, when you select it, it shows you how your sleep, sleep consistency and other factors play into your overall Energy score. It will also show you if something “needs attention”. For example, in one of my pics, it shows how my “Previous Day Activity” needed attention. Very interesting because it was raining off and, on that day, and I really didn’t get outside much. The amount of depth that you can dig into your daily habits and sleep and activity is amazing with this watch. I am still discovering things daily. Since this was the LTE version, I added it to $40+ setup fees, especially since it was all done online and very quickly. I love Verizon because of the coverage but their fees and costs are getting to be too much. The call quality was amazing on the watch, I was able to answer calls and, in most cases, as long as I was speaking pretty close to the watch, no one could really tell whether or not it was my phone or the watch. I did have an interesting thing happen. I was not able to make calls from the watch but quickly realized that the app I use for preventing butt dials was causing it. It’s called “Call confirmation, it basically makes you swipe to confirm a call. Its very helpful as prevents butt dials but prevents calls from the watch unless you have your phone there too and can swipe. I need to see if there is a way around this one. For the Battery life, I do not have power saving on. I know you can customize the power savings, and I may play with just turning off certain features but since I work from home, charging is quick and easy for me. I can generally fully charge in no much over an hour or so. As for the life, I am getting anywhere between 43-49+ hours on a single charge. I only let it go to about 3% so I probably could have gotten another hour on it. I also have the Adaptive display and always on turned on and set to activate with a wrist turn. I didn’t do this on my old Watch 5 but I love it on this new bigger Watch 7 ultra. I think it makes it more like a normal watch, so you don’t have to tap it to see the time. I have seen some comments about display and bezel, they don’t really impact me at all and I have not noticed any issues. I do think its very cool that the face that I am using has a compass built in and rotates as the display is on. I like to watch the space station when it flies over and this will be great because now I don’t need another compass app to open up and map the path of the station as it passes over. I will say I am very happy with this watch. It is a huge improvement over my older Watch 5. The health features only make this worthwhile. The titanium build is solid and feels amazing. The watch band and ability to snap new ones in and out is great. I have a hot tub so I use the feature to put it into water mode regularly and have not had any issues with it, nor did I on the watch 5. Its just a nice feature so you don’t have to take it off and on. This was a great investment, and I would highly recommend it to others, just make sure you like this size watch or have had a similar size before.

Large yet comfortable w/ good battery
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was intrigued by the Samsung Galaxy Ultra Titanium Smartwatch primarily because I found my Pixel watch, while a great watch too, a bit "boring" stylistically. The Galaxy Ultra watch has a bit of pizzazz and features a nice, large 47mm screen (41mm on the Pixel 2). It is also a thicker, heavier watch but the weight feels balanced on your wrist. The "BioActive sensor" on this watch is top notch. Per Samsung, the BioActive sensor "more accurately measures health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels and stress levels. Even the measurement of heart rate during intensive workouts is 30% more accurate compared to its predecessor." Given this Ultra watch is marketed toward those with active or outdoor lifestyles, improvements to accuracy are important for those who track their heartrate, O2, sleep, etc. I did find that my watch wanted me to slide the watch slightly UP my arm to get the most accurate readings, however. Given the weight and size of this watch, it is only natural, then for the watch to slide back down the wrist away from the optimal touchpoint for sensor readings. However, the watchband is very adjustable and comfortable so finding the right "tightness" on the proper spot on your arm for the watch shouldn't be too difficult unless you have fairly thin wrists. Nonetheless, this watch is bonkers if you want a device to help monitor your health and activities! The higher-end materials help push this watch up in price. The storage, processor, and display resolution on the Ultra are the same as the Galaxy 7 watch (44mm version) so the main upgrade over the 7 is the larger capacity battery (590mAh vs. 425mAh) and the higher durability rating (to which I cannot speak to as I am not willing to test "breaking" this watch!)...in addition to the superior materials. The battery has the ability to last well over 24 hours but a lot of that depends on how you set up the watch services--starting with whether or not you "always on" the display. Out of the box, with no real configuration other than to make the watch pair with my phone and my Google account, I drained the battery faster than expected and was caught off guard. Changing the display to "adaptive" and "always on" to off, coupled with Bluetooth ON and wi-fi OFF significantly improved the battery life and gets me well beyond 24 hours. 0%-100% charging seems to take about 2 hours. The "fitness" tools are front and center on this watch and record tons of data. I don't have the means to speak to their accuracy (especially while tracking sleep habits) but the bottom line is you can quickly identify trends and baselines to help improve your workouts and routines. The GPS seems accurate, and I really like the default watchface which includes an always accessible compass. Speaking of faces, there is a fairly decent selection of watchfaces included in the Samsung Wear app. I will admit that I wish this watch would integrate with an Android phone w/o the need to use the Samsung app, but that's just how it is. Setup was easy, although I did have to run through the process twice simply because I screwed up and tried to recover settings from another Samsung watch account unintentionally. I did bump the font size up a notch during setup to help me read the screen with a little less effort. Once I had the watch properly connected to my phone and configured in the Wear app, though, I have not had to touch the app on my phone. One other random thought, the actual screen is slightly recessed. If the watch ever falls and lands face down on a flat, smooth surface, that little bit of a recess should help prevent scratches or cracks. Another nice feature is a "siren" alarm (that I did not test) that will apparently make a VERY LOUD alert to help find you if you need help. It is worth nothing, however, that the siren is not automatically linked to any SOS/911 features. Although bulky, I like the styling of the watch--as well as its features--enough to think that I will make this my daily watch moving forward. If the pricepoint doesn't scare you away, the only real concern you should have is will this bulkier watch feel comfortable all day long on your wrist. Assuming you don't struggle with "normal" watches slipping or fitting correctly, the Samsung Ultra Titanium Watch should make you very happy especially if you had battery issues with previous watches and if you enjoy tracking your health and exercise activities.

Tuff And Comfortable Smartwatch With Sharp Display
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Package Contents Samsung has hit a home run with their Ultra Titanium smartwatch. The watch comes in a well made package with all that you need to get up and running. It comes with a USB-C to smartwatch charger. It's well made and has a flexible cable. It's typical of smartwatch manufactures to include a short charge cable and Samsung isn't any different in this. It would be good to see Samsung include a 6ft. charge cable in the future with their watches, but I expected Samsung to be similar to others by including a 3ft charge cable. I'm happy to see that Samsung has moved forward by using a USB-C cable. Mine came with a grey watchband which matches the grey color that is seen around the outer part of the watch. The silicon band is just soft enough to be comfortable to wear all day and strong enough to endure during exercise and hiking trips for a long time. It has a metal clasp that I expect to be able to take some abuse for yeas of me exercising and mountain bike riding. Construction The first thing I noticed about the watch is it's construction. It is built incredibly well. The watch case is not only super strong, it looks great. Samsung has put a lot of time in designing the watch case to look amazing on the wrist. I have the 47mm version which fits my writs perfectly. It's watch face is large and easy to read. I also like the tick marks around the bezel. I think it adds to the overall look of the watch. It was easy for me to connect the watch band and I didn't have any problems disconnecting the band due to the push button release. The release buttons are metal and blend in with the main part of the watch. There are three buttons on the side of it. The main center button is metal and is somewhat protected due to a raised part of the watch case but unfortunately the buttons to either side of it are not as protected. It would have been nice if it was similar to the center button regard this. It's not that big of a deal as I don't expect to be hitting that part of the watch against anything. Use The touch screen is very bright and clear. The resolution of the screen and brightness stood out to me. It's also very responsive. I didn't have any problems with the touch sensitivity. The watch's batter lasts me around 50 hours. I will be adjusting settings to try to get more hours out of it before having to charge. I really like the brightness of the screen and health app related settings, so I'm not expecting to get a week out of the battery, but I should be able to extend it to 70 plus hours by making a few adjustments. Charging the watch is simple using the included magnetic charger and I feel that it charges quickly. I've used the Ultra watch to track my running sessions and I've worn it out riding my mountain bike. It was comfortable through out the runs and bike rides. While doing that I was sweating and that didn't cause any problems with the watch tracking the sessions. Final Thoughts I like that Samsung has stepped it up with the Ultra Watch. The construction is nothing short of amazing. I like the feel and really like the very bright high res display. I think Samsung has done a great job with the design and construction of it. I had no problems connecting the watch to an Android phone. I would like to see Samsung support connecting to tablets and not just phones, but that isn't going to be a problem for most as most people, like me, will be connecting the Ultra to their phone. I would also like to see the next iteration of the Ultra to have a case that is all metal instead of the perimeter part of the case being plastic. That part of the case, for the version I have, is grey. If I want to change the band and use an orange band or some other color, it will look a bit strange. That wouldn't be a problem if the whole case was metal, but that's a small complaint about aesthetics. Overall, I really like the watch and like to see where Samsung is going with their smart watches.

Premiere Outdoorsy Watch That Can Do It All!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smartwatches have been an increasing part of people's tech lives but they have been somewhat plateaued in what they offer over the last handful of years. That has changed with the introduction of these "ultra" level watches and Samsung came to play with their latest and greatest! PROS: - Unboxing this you immediately can tell how premium and next level this watch is. It has a a really nice build, good size, and just has that rugged do it all look to it. Really nice design overall! - When you turn it on and set it up the screen is amazing! It's a large display, I like the circular design, and just is super crisp and clear. Obviously you want the screen to look nice and the Ultra pays off. - With the ultra branding comes the next level battery and this delivers. Being able to wear it multiple days without charging is great especially using those extra features like GPS or LTE or fitness tracking. - Speaking of LTE, this is also an incredible feature to have! Being able to leave your phone at home and bring this on runs or hikes or swims while still being able to take calls or texts or listen to streaming music on the go is a really nice feature to have! - The Ultra comes loaded with so many features as well. I particularly like the health features and tracking like sleep tracking and getting your metrics on your heart and of course all of the fitness tracking letting you know how active you were for the day. - Also on features you have the dial and buttons which although the touchscreen is really responsive, the buttons just add a nice level of being able to quickly get to certain features and easily navigate. CONS: - This is apparent with its bigger screen and battery, but watch is more bulky than typical smart watches. Once again, I understand but it's something to consider. BOTTOM LINE: - There are a lot of compelling reasons to make the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra your daily driver. The screen is brilliant, its comes with an incredible amount of features, has a battery that last for days, and can go anywhere you push yourself to go from a physical or outdoor perspective. It's simply the best watch any Samsung user can buy but it may be too much for some depending on their use. Overall though its a fantastic watch and will really change how you use your smartwatch!

The watch I've been waiting for!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had many smartwatches over the years since the Moto360. Loved the size of that one but it got outdated soo fast. Then makers decided smaller watches were where it's at. The last watch I had was the pixel and it's good but I wanted bigger! Release the Galaxy watch Ultra. What a great size! It is nice and big, with a beautiful, easy to read screen. I have an 8 inch wrist and this fits perfectly. Before smart watches, I loved my big chunky analog watches so I love this design. Something still different, not just round, not a rectangle, love the squircle! It is noticeably heavier than the pixel but I got used to it quickly. It feels solid! Being made from durable titanium and sapphire glass will keep it looking great for a long time. I didn't really care for the included band. I like the bands that have the ability to tuck the end under the rest so there is nothing to get caught. There are plenty to choose from online already and more to come. Setting up the watch to the phone was a breeze, it connects and syncs seamlessly but... This ultra is LTE, so I wanted the watch to have it's own plan. It's own number away from the phone. (it's nice to leave my phone behind if I don't want to carry the huge brick around) So far Verizon couldn't do it after trying for an hour over the phone. I had to get a prepaid plan and ended up getting us cellular to work. It did take an entire day and hopefully I can save some people some headache. It is absolutely samsungs fault in the wear app. When setting up the ultra, it asks to set up a lte plan, and it only "checks with provider", I hadn't told it what provider I wanted so this was confusing. (If you're linking with your current phone plan, I suspect there won't be issues) They don't have a simple scan qr code button! (you get a qr code to enable the esim you purchase) You can find out how to enable it by searching reddit. There's a secret menu to find. Once I had that, I was up and running in 5 minutes. The ultra watch is fast and snappy, swiping screens is fluid. Battery life so far is fine for me. I can get 2 days on a charge. It really depends on the watch face you choose (there are soo many to choose from) if I use the ultra analog, I get a day and a half. You can dramatically increase the battery life if you turn off the aod but that's not the point of having a watch like this. Also turn off the "hey Google" and just use the button to activate. I think the charging is pretty fast too. I use the Insignia travel 25 watt charger and it only takes an hour and a half to go from 2% to full. I like the fact the watch stays on when charging so you can use it as a clock. I would like to be able to charge the ultra with any wireless charger but you have to use the one from samsung or equivalent. The screen is great outside, nice and bright! I have no problem reading it in the sun. It's nice that it's soo bright so the flashlight is actually usable. The buttons on the side are customizable but not as much as I'd like them to be. There should be different button presses you can program and options for any action you'd like. So far it's limited on what you can choose. Hopefully they'll fix that in an update. This watch is really designed around your health. The dual GPS is great for running, hiking and biking. Soo many workout options to select. Tracking your sleeping habits and stress, sensors for your heart and bmi. Soo much is packed into this watch! I suggest getting cozy and watching YouTube vids to get a handle on it. I am going to enjoy this watch for many years!

Big watch is big.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trying to capitalize on the “Ultra” name from its competitor aside, the Galaxy Watch ‘Ultra’ is taking the place of the ‘Classic’ from previous generations. Sadly this does not also take the amazing rotating bezel from the classic series. But that would be my only complaint. The screen is amazingly bright and crisp. I’ve had a galaxy watch of one form or another since the Galaxy watch 3. And my favorites have been the classic with its nice large diving watch kind of style and the nice rotating bezel making for easy use when wearing gloves. Sadly that feature as I said isn’t here but we get an even larger screen here and a larger battery as well for longer time between needing to drop it on the charging puck. As pictured I received the Titanium Silver model with its slate gray/blue body and marine band, it really looks amazing. If you’ve owned any Samsung watch from the last couple of years feature wise it’s not all that different here, you still have all the same sports and exercise features, maps and media playback, but with the larger screen replying to messages on device is much easier with its full keyboard and swipe typing capabilities. A 3rd button joins the 2 familiar buttons from before with this new one being partially programmable for different features, from exercise selection, a flashlight (turns the face white and ramps the brightness to max, kind of handy with how bright the ultra can get, an instant water lock button if you swim often, or a stop watch for those that run laps, or do other competitive timed events. I myself am not a big fitness freak, one look at me could tell you that, but I appreciate the reminders to get up and move around because my job has me at a desk for most of my day, and the little buzz is a good reminder to go stretch my legs and move for a bit. Keeps you from getting sore when stuck in an office. My favorite feature of all however is GPS and navigation. I ride motorcycle and don’t really care to have my phone on a mount on the bike because If something goes bad on a ride, I rather not also have to replace a $1000+ phone on top of medical bills and bike repairs, so I use my watch for gps navigation. Also it keeps the oled screen of the phone safe in a pocket from direct sunlight. I can just wear the watch face on the inside of my wrist so it’s facing down while I ride, but I can quickly turn my wrist to check the map, and the turn by turn instructions can go to my earbud via Bluetooth. And since the whole watch is cellular connected I can easily just leave my phone behind altogether if I don’t need to for wherever I am going because I am still connected and reachable. I’d dock points for copying the name, but honestly the moment the competitor chose that name I knew Samsung would do it too, they both keep taking each others ideas year after year. This is no different, but with Samsung even if you don’t decide to fork over the extra money for this model you get most of the features aside from the action button in the others this year. Just a little smaller screen and less battery. If your using an android, and want a watch for fitness or fun, or just to be able to leave the phone behind to keep yourself from doomscrolling TikTok the Samsung watch is a great choice.

A change in style, added features, rugged w/class
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung has taken a whole new design to their watch series in this release from the traditional “rounded” style to the alternative “square” styling. This new look is aggressive and moves Samsung into the non-conservative look. While this look is designed for sports and ruggedness, it still pairs really well in a suit and tie in the “Titanium Silver” color as tested. When not in a formal setting, this watch has a number of sporty and gym bound features to support all of the various activities out there. One notable key feature added is the gesture controls and potentially life-saving tools for health-related criteria as a part of it’s bioactive sensor upgrades/changes. While one of these has been available outside of the US for some time now, it is great to see here in the US; noting from my use of a Galaxy Watch Classic 5. This is the Samsung Health Monitor; it does require initial and continued calibration to ensure accuracy to a Pulse Ox/Blood Pressure tool. One highly noted health and safety feature added is the sleep apnea detection helps to record sleep patterns and breathing patterns to pass onto your physician and recommend you to see a doctor if need be. This will not change pre-diagnosed findings in an individual of having Sleep Apnea. This is one of Samsung’s current highly noted goals in tracking your own wellness via a wearable. The ”quick button” is customizable, limited to what Samsung feels is the most important and hopefully this will change in the future in one their next feature updates. AS. Of now, it can be set to default to start your workouts or custom to specific workouts, water lock, flashlight, or stopwatch (not in any particular order). The other buttons are still customizable as well. Energy. So far this watch under heavy use if finding itself to last a little over a day, but the watch does need time to calibrate itself to the user. The watch charger uses the current standard of USB-C to charge itself and rapid charges. Energy Score, refers to YOU, looking at your daily activity, sleep, and heart rate data points, and includes tips on wellness. Currently, I have this setup on one of the recommended service providers tied directly with my phone service and have not had any issues or complaints with connectivity. The watch easily switches to WiFi and Bluetooth connection as needed and when selected to. Rugged. Overall this watch does have added thickness compared to my other Galaxy watches and uses a much wider band with dual pin-holes for closure. The included Marine band fits nicely on your wrist while having sweat release areas to let your wrist breath more easily. There are additional bands to purchase if needed to suit your style, use, and need. Overall, Samsung has a way to keep their watch looking classy while being able to support their user in various ways. I can highly recommend this watch as even during my time with it, there’s always something new to learn from the watch itself, through a tip, my exercise routines, and even my sleep patterns.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra: A Rugged Tech Titan
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is a bold departure from Samsung's previous watch designs. Its "squircle" shape is a unique aesthetic that, while growing on me, lacks the tactile satisfaction of a rotating bezel. Nonetheless, the watch is a solid piece of hardware built for endurance, both in daily wear and fitness activities. The sapphire crystal display is impressively resistant to scratches and its brightness ensures excellent visibility in any light. I've worn it from everything from casual strolls to intense workouts, and it's held up flawlessly. The LTE capability is a game-changer, offering freedom and convenience that cannot be understated. Being able to leave my phone behind without sacrificing connectivity is a luxury I didn't know I needed and now never want to give up. Battery life has exceeded my expectations, consistently delivering 2-3 days of use on a single charge, even with heavy reliance on features like GPS and music playback. The audio output is surprisingly robust, making calls and alarms clear and effective. The emergency siren is VERY loud, which is the point, of course. While the watch seamlessly integrates with Samsung devices, offering a full suite of features, its compatibility with other Android phones is somewhat limited. It's a minor drawback considering the overall package, but it would be great if Samsung opened up all features for all Android phones. For those seeking a durable, feature-rich smartwatch that can handle the rigors of an active lifestyle, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is a compelling choice. Its combination of rugged design, impressive display, and robust performance make it a standout in the smartwatch market.

Great Watch with a Few Setbacks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've spent the last few years using a Garmin watch exclusively. Before that the only experience I had with a Wear OS based watch was a Fossil watch and it was a terrible experience. That said, I was pleasantly surprised for the most part with the Galaxy Watch Ultra, but also a little let down at the same time. For starters the build quality on this thing is impeccable. Without pulling up the specs I can tell you that it has an extremely bright display with amazing colors. The body is solid metal with the exception of the ring on the face and the three quick buttons. The band is ok, its neither great nor bad. It could get a little uncomfortable after a while, but it worked really well while working on, having flex as well as holes in it for breathing. It would have been nice if there was a better retention device on it for holding the excess length as it can get flappy, come out of the restraint and just look floppy. The weight of the device is a little on the heavy side, feeling ever so slightly heavier than my Garmin, but nothing you would really notice. The backside of the watch with the sensors extrudes a bit which caused a bit of discomfort over time paired with the weight, and if the watch was not tight enough, it would hit my write bone when moving a lot (running mainly). The problem arises from the fact that there wasn't an adjustment that was just right with this band to keep it just tight enough, but not too tight. For this I would recommend a new wristband. Battery life on this is much better than I thought it was going to be. My previous experience with the Fossil watch had me at less than a full day of battery life. The Galaxy Watch Ultra lasts me 2.5 days on average. In battery saver mode I can make it 5 days (according to the battery metrics, I haven't tried it). That said I did make a tweak to the display settings so the watch face wasn't on all the time, but instead only when I twisted my wrist to look at it. This setting worked very well and only on a few occasions did it not understand I was trying to read the watch. The software for the device is very good. I didn't experience and hitches or slowdowns when using the watch. It just did what I asked it to. It feels very responsive and fluid with the animations. The included Samsung apps are nice, with good apps for tracking your sport activities (walking, running, swimming, hiking, etc), more accurate steps/stair monitoring (it was comically bad on my Garmin), and a plethora of health apps that I simply lack the know how to utilize. I will say that the Sleep monitoring app is a little redundant because with the battery life the way it is, you're most likely going to be charging the watch while you sleep, so you're going to missing data every third day. The customization of the watch I feel is a little disappointing though. While it offers a wide range of stock clock faces, I couldn't find one that was just right for me. I ended up settling for the default watch face as it has the most customization available, but it still didn't do what I wanted. As an example, I am in the military and in my job we express direction in mils, but the watch only supports degrees. Same thing with location, where it will give you you're location but only in lat/long while I need MGRS. There was also only 2 watch faces that I could find that had the compass on the watch face itself. Additionally on the customization side, you're very limited on what you can bind your buttons to. That was one of the marketing pushes for the watch with the Quick Action button and the two other buttons. With my Garmin I used the Quick Button to get my location and altitude. I had to download an app to do that from the store, but I found out that I can't bind that app to the button. You also can only bind one action to each button. It gives you the option in the software to be able to set a long press, short press, double press to the buttons, but you can only bind one of those. So say I want a quick press to bring up "My Exercises" but a long press to open up the compass, I can't do that. I feel like that is low hanging fruit for Samsung that would make the watch a lot more accessible for people. Finally on that topic, volume control. There is no easy way to turn up or down your watch while its playing audio. There is the drawer that has sound control, but its on/off and vibrate. If you're in an app that has audio playing, you have to use the app to control the volume level. I found this rather annoying as I would be playing music from the watch and have to get through multiple clicks in order to turn it down when I needed to. I really wish they would have made the ring on the face rotatable so that it could be utlized by apps to various things like volume, or with the compass a means of declination. Overall though I do enjoy this watch and will be replacing my Garmin with it for day to day use. Because of the battery life I won't be able to for my longer field expeditions, but it works great as a daily watch.

Amazing watch, best if you also own Samsung phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, watch was pictured with orange band, mine had black/gray band. Not tragic, I don't wear rubber/silicone watch bands and had a metal band ready to go. Double check when your watch arrives. Now, a quick rundown about the watch. WOW! This Ultra watch is packed with everything. It tracks everything a man or woman might want to track from exercise, women's cycle, sleeping, snoring and falls. Plus there is all that heart health stuff (ECG/EKG still Samsung Only). And first new feature I have ever encountered, an emergency siren alarm. Haptics (vibration motor) are the best in any watch I have ever owned. And a clear and very audible speaker for notifications, calls, music and that siren. So, if you like your exercise to be rewarded with trophies like on video games. Your gonna love the Samsung Ultra. It even celebrates when you finally move, lol. Pros: 2 day+ battery Great haptics and speakers Large screen for easy to ready text Infinitely customizable Nearly every human metric can be monitored Built like a tank Meet new people when wearing Cons: Price ECG/EKG is Samsung only, shame Setup/Customization: There is too many things to say about this beast of a watch. You might need to download a few new Samsung apps and you do need to know how to setup techie devices. The watch is user friendly, but so many features as a non-Samsung phone user might have required me to do more settings tweaks as the default option did not activate everything my other Wear OS watches did by default. And some unlabeled Samsung icons were unfamiliar to me. I did have to turn on email notifications, even though my email app was already installed. If watch is not getting alerts when your phone chimes, look for the: Wear OS app on phone, watch settings, notification, app notification. Most stuff was ticked to off. A few other minor things like sleep (digital wellbeing bedtime) times since my phone did not initialize the nightly do not disturb mode, I had to set bedtime up on watch. 2AM chirps and vibrations equal grumpy mornings. Ultimately, once you get it setup. The Ultra is a joy to have. So many options for chimes for notifications. Many of the watch faces are customizable with dozens of options for colors, hands and complications. These are on the Wear OS app, and most settings are just easier from the phone app vs the watch. If you like custom watch setups as opposed to the forced look from the manufacturer. Samsung made your new favorite watch. Glad this watch is not locked down. Buttons/Crown and Health Tracking: The three buttons are a little less customizable. You can choose a few options and a secondary long press option. Mostly it depends on how active you'll be when using the watch long term. I have defaulted to the top button being home and assistant. Bottom button goes back a screen. And made the middle (Action Button) start my most frequent activity done lately, kayaking, with long press to be the siren. Its a nice setup for the buttons. Just know there is no rotating crown or bezel (fake finger sliding bezel in settings), it is just buttons and touch screen. Also, there is a setting to do the finger tap (thumb and pointing finger) to control phone and media interactions. Little gimmicky, but many might like to try it out. I am far from an exercise expert. I am closer to couch potato than Iron Man athlete and my exercise routines are fairly mild and relaxed. I did not use most of the presets and did have to search for kayak exercise tracking, but its in there. My kayaking is mostly on flat lakes or dammed rivers. Very few rapids. But I do like knowing how far I go and calorie burn. My other main exercise, bike rides, are often 25-50 miles on trails. Online pro's say the Ultra is a fairly accurate watch, and you can trust the metrics. Which makes it easy to keep an eye on how hard my older dad bod is working to not over exert to the point of an issue. My exercise sessions with the watch looks like I am starting a stop watch when I begin. Data can be checked, but best when done. My first kayak paddle workout awarded me "A great start" kayak trophy/badge. Nice motivation to get out there again. Trophies show on watch as awarded, but all can be seen on phone. Bluetooth/LTE If you are more in the, I just want to know messages and email notifications without needing your phone all the time or pulling your phone out to see the notification. This watch is great at that too, but might be overkill. Samsung sells other Galaxy Watches that are cheaper and no less ready for the less extreme active/demanding lifestyle the Ultra was built for. The Ultra has Bluetooth so it will tether to your phone like most smartwatches. It also has LTE which depending on your carrier can go completely independent from you phone and have its own signal and data plan. I have free smartwatch data plan on my phone plan. Unfortunately, I learned while setting it up that Visible will only support the other "fruit brand" ultra watch to be added. Since there are so few Android watches with LTE, they do not currently support them. And when I tried Verizon and T-Mobile to get a watch data plan. I was told they only offer the plans if I port my phones over too. That's just not feasible for how little I pay for "Visible by Verizon" unlimited data for all of North America at Visible. This feature was really what I looked forward to, but will have to wait for my carrier to catch up. Just make sure your carrier knows it is a "Samsung Galaxy Ultra" and it has its own IMEI number, just like cell phones. Sadly I can not speak of the LTE signal and data for the watch, yet. Bluetooth connection is fantastic. Battery: If you go with default always on setup and get many messages per day, stream a little music. And not using it as a phone too often. I am getting 2 days and almost 5 hours (53 hours total) for the last few recharge cycles. That's almost double any other smartwatch I own. If I switched to tilt/touch to wake and tweak a few settings. I can see it going almost 3 days. And this will be up to you if you want a watch all the time, or just sometimes to stretch the battery over a full weekend. Either way you go, it charges up quick enough that its usually ready to go after a typical morning routine of putting on charge, getting ready and get going with the day. I see a possible issue if you replace your phone for only this. In a case like that. Order a secondary work charger since it can only charge off the included puck. No Qi charge from what I have seen. Downsides: The only real downsides aside from Samsung phones having more feature access to the watch than other phone brands, please let all phones access the ECK/EKG sensor. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is pricey when compared to the other new Galaxy watch. I am sure, sapphire crystal, titanium and testing it to meet spec are not cheap. A ruggedized watch that is accurate will cost what it costs. And I have wanted a rugged watch for active lifestyle days when I kayak or go on bike rides and not worry I might knock my watch around or worry water could damage it. The cool features and a design style of the Samsung Galaxy Ultra Watch made it a must have.

Overall a great watch with one big bezel booboo...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you need a smart watch – a BIG smart watch – you may want to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. Now admittedly, for a lot of people, one of the more moderately sized and priced Samsung watches may be just fine. But if you are involved in a lot of physical activities you like to keep track of, have need of a larger battery and screen, then the Ultra may be worth the extra money. First is the size. The Galaxy Ultra has a large, Sapphire glass, AMOLED 47mm screen that looks really nice and is so bright you can see it easily in sunlight. The body is a mixed bag for me – it’s Titanium which is great and sturdy, but it’s kind of a “round screen on squarish body” design that isn’t my favorite mix, but it does the job. While not an anchor, it’s large and heavy enough that you WILL know you’re wearing a watch, especially with the thick “Marine” style band that comes with it (I’ll be switching to a more stretchable fabric band for comfort). On the right side you have three buttons – a menu/power button, a center action button that can be programmed for a limited number of things when pressed, and a back button. The bezel around the screen does NOT rotate (more on that later). Mine is a darker watch with a dark band, which to me, looks nice. You can also get lighter variations of watch body with a bright orange band or white(ish) band, which by the way, basically just snap in to the watch body, and a quick release button on the back of the watch will release them. MUCH easier then previous bands. The sensors on the back can track a huge number of measurements. Your heart rate, blood oxygen readings, an ECD heart reading, and a ton of fitness tracking features to measure your steps, stairs, swimming, hiking, running, skin temp, fitness comparisons, and so much more. You can customize shortcuts on the watch Wear-OS operating system to more quickly reach the features you want, or don’t. Samsung Pay and Google Pay are usable as well. The watch of course pairs up with your phone quickly and easily via a dedicated app, which allows you to control features, watch faces, and more via that route if you don’t want to adjust settings on the watch face itself. The just under 600 mah battery should keep you going all day, depending on use. The Ultra charges pretty quickly with the included round/disk magnetic charger, but it’s only roughly a couple of feet long – I’d have loved to see a longer cord on it. If you decide to activate and use the 4G LTE feature with your carrier, it will drain the battery a little quicker, but with standard use, it shouldn’t be an issue. I think the speaker works well. I can hear calls and other audibles clearly and loud enough. Those I’ve talked to on calls say the mic is pretty good – they can tell I’m not quite on my phone directly, but have no issues hearing me clearly enough. I get text and call notifications as I should, with customization for the vibrations and tones, although in my opinion, the “ping” that hits your wrist to alert you, even on high, could be stronger. 32 gigs of internal storage is sufficient for many purposes, and 2 gigs of RAM keep things moving smoothly. The Ultra has an IP68 water-resistant rating. This means based on their specs, you can expose the watch to about 10 minutes of saltwater, or 30 minutes of fresh water for a short period of time, but they do not recommend diving/scuba diving with it. Rain should not be an issue or if you wear it in the shower. I’m a bit more paranoid of a person, and I do not wear it in water just to be safe. There is a setting in the menu for water exposure to, perhaps that closes off some ports inside (?). I will have to address the one “inexcusable” flaw in this watch, though… the non-rotating bezel. On some other Samsung Galaxy Watch models, you can turn the bezel around the screen to access menus and adjust settings, and this is a HUGE plus. It makes navigating your watch seamless, and keeps you from having to touch the screen as much. The Watch Ultra’s bezel however, is stationary, causing you to have to use your finger to go around the screen as a substitute. In my opinion, this is a huge flaw for a watch of this level and price range, and I hope they consider adding a rotating bezel to the next model. Overall I do like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. I have large wrists, so the included band fits well and looks good. So far, all of the features seem to work as they should with no issues. The speakers and mic work well. The screen is nice and bright and clear. I would give it 5 stars, but the lack of a rotating bezel knocks a full star off for me. Only you can decide if the extra features of the Galaxy Watch Ultra are worth the increase in price over Samsung’s other offerings for your needs. Still, I would recommend this watch for those who do need something a step above the other standard offerings out there.

Premium Watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this watch to replace my Watch Classic. Major upgrade. The screen is bright and easy to read in bright sunlight. The watch has some weight but is not too heavy to be cumbersome. I love the "oversized" look of the watch face and the general aesthetic of the design. I opted for the white band which compliments the darker watch bezel design that I ordered. Flipping between apps and screens is very snappy. I am able to get several days on a charge using factory watch face settings. I am still using the factory watch face. I tested the apnea feature. The feature requires two nights of solid data, but it took me three nights to get the data. The first night I didn't wear the watch high enough on my arm (too close to the wrist). This is clearly shown in the instructions, but I wanted to test it out being that it is a little uncomfortable wearing it higher on the arm. Luckily you only need to do it for two nights. It did detect that I have mild apnea (which I suspected I did), so I am going to wait a month and test again. Once you get usable results from the test, the watch turns the feature off so you will have to re-enable if you want to test again. Overall I am extremely happy with this watch.

A Superb Piece of Tech
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Galaxy Watch Ultra has exceeded my expectations during the time that I’ve been wearing it. Its case is visually appealing, and the contour fits comfortably on my wrist. The placement of the buttons is perfect, making it easy to navigate through the watch’s features. The digital bezel allows for smooth scrolling and quick access to various functions (making one certain button useless). And battery life, when working right, is nothing to scoff at. Overall, my experience with the watch has been overwhelmingly positive. Let’s get into what I want to highlight. The design of the watch case is aesthetically pleasing. At 47mm, its large pebble shape takes up nearly my entire wrist. Despite the size, the display resolution is perfect. Not only does it enhance the visual appeal but also provides a comfortable, ergonomic fit. I wear it all day and night with no discomfort. Its titanium housing is unbeatable, but it comes at a premium cost. And although I’m not a huge fan of the band design, it is durable, and I appreciate how easily the bands snap into the case, making it convenient to switch them out. Taking the band off my wrist is a minor annoyance, as the prongs (yes, two prongs) sometimes don’t like to let go. The battery power of this watch is great with its 590mAh capacity. With power-saving mode off, I’ve had it last nearly 60 hours, which is great for me because I’m not too interested in having to remove, charge, and attach the watch each day. However, sometimes encounter an issue with potentially some background processes. It seems the watch’s battery life can vary, lasting either two-and-a-half days or less than twelve hours. I’ve experienced both. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is quite resilient. Its titanium build is hardly beatable. Also note that it has a 10ATM rating, which allows it to be used in various water situations such as showering and swimming for 10-30 minutes, depending on the water pressure or depth. I've had no issues in these situations. The action button on the watch is a new feature and could have been useful with different input types, but Samsung seemed to have dropped the ball here. You can only assign four functions to the action button: Samsung Health (although you can set the exercise), stopwatch, flashlight, and water lock. This limitation makes the button feel underutilized and barely saves me any time, and so I’ve found little use for it. As for LTE capability, it is largely useless to me personally. Unless you don’t keep your phone with you or have a significant distance between you and your phone during workouts or exercises, you won’t find much use for it. It’s nice to have the option, but it’s not a necessity. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is certainly impressionable. Its battery life is strong but sometimes inconsistent, and I would recommend fine-tuning all the features if you want to maximizing battery life. The action button’s limited functionality feels underdeveloped, and LTE is nice but not a necessity. Overall, my experience has been very positive, and, despite a few drawbacks, I fully intend to continue using this fantastic watch.

Best Samsung Galaxy watch so far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used various smart watches in the past from Samsung, Apple and Google and this is the best I've used on the Android side that's for sure. This is an LTE connected smartwatch which means you can sign up for a cell plan which connects to your phones plan so you can leave your phone at home and take it out and have service for phone calls, texts and GPS for like Location services without bringing your phone with you. This is a 47mm case which I find a tag big I prefer a smaller watch like the pixel watch but I like the durability of it so it's a trade off. Specs Sapphire crystal glass Samsung Exynos W1000 SOC Titanium frame 32GB of storage 2GB ram I have used other recent watches with older Exynos chips and the battery life was mediocre. After using this for about 5 days I can tell this will last longer. As far as performance goes it's snappy. I am using the default watch face but there is plenty to choose from in the Galaxy gear app. I am using this with a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This watch can detect workouts fairly quickly and end them quickly as well which is nice if you don't start one manually. There is also a new action button as well which I set up to start walking exercise workout and that's great they added it. As far as workout monitoring and etc I find it accurate enough no complaints

Not hard to use and has good functionality. When it comes to the battery it last quite long when it comes to smart watches. I'm very satisfied with said smart watch.
