A nice looking watch with a few smart features

If this is your first dive into the world of wearables, my advice is to keep your expectations low. While phone calls are relatively clear and convenient, that's about the best feature to mention. The aesthetic and design are beautiful, and the user interface is pretty intuitive. But beware: this is a wrist watch with some smart features. If you consider yourself a power-user, do not expect it to replace your primary device in any real capacity. App selection is incredibly poor, with only a few official Samsung apps aimed primary at health/fitness tracking, and a few very basic functionality tools such as voice memos and alarms. Outside of Samsung, 3rd party apps are extremely hit-or-miss, and most of the worthy options are not free. If your primary use is to have a beautiful, highly customizable watch face with a few extra perks, you will be perfectly satisfied. If you are expecting anything like a digital assistant, maybe wait it out for the Watch7 or so. Simple, expectable things like different notification tones for different apps are not possible here, and expect to pay for a third-party app even if you want to deviate from the ~10 built-in notification tones. My hope was to supplement my productivity at work and be able to prioritize work emails over text messages and other notifications without relying on my phone, but they all sound the same from the watch's notification chime, and not even third-party apps can change this. The only solution is to turn off other notifications through the Samsung Wearables companion app on the primary device while at work, then back on when I resume my personal life - this effectively takes the "smart" out of "smart watch." Spotify users, you'll be happy. Anyone else, you're pretty much out of luck. Pandora support is limited to a transport controller of play/pause/previous/next on the watch while the audio is playing through the primary device. If you want the watch to play audio, you'll need to transfer the audio files on to the watch and use the built-in music player. Maybe I'm being too demanding, but in 2021, this feels like a half-step upgrade from carrying around a Walkman. All in all, I am happy to have a new toy, but just like a kid on Christmas, I'll probably lose interest in the less-than-life-changing functionality and lose it in the bottom of the toy box within a few months.

    Overpriced with limited health options

This was my first smartwatch - it was billed as a combination of health tracker + mobile accessory. For starters the watch does look nice. I thought the 45mm version might be too large, but I really enjoy the way it looks. As a mobile accessory - it does what it's supposed to (i.e. read notifications, respond using the watch), but it's not very practical. I've found limited real world applications to responding to a text from my watch - I'd rather just pull my phone out and respond that way. The biggest shortcomings are the health features. It seems that it is missing many basic features, such as: - oxygen tracking while sleeping - ECG (still not active in the US) - way to seamlessly sync samsung health mobile app with the data from the watch. For example if I am on a bike ride, I can use the watch by itself to track my distance and heartrate - but I won't be able to see my speed, time, distance etc. on my smartphone. Battery life is also not that great - will last a little over a day with basic usage. I suppose that's normal for smartwatches, but it becomes a chore to recharge daily.

This is a review more about best buy than Samsung but also have some quips with them. I purchased the demonstrator for a 22$ discount(!) was shipped to me but did not arrive with a cable or charger. when discussed with customer service they didn't have any chargers to give but offered a $29 unit. NO! Have been charging with my s20 but is difficult to use power share as there is only a very small spot. S20 shuts off after a while, never get a full charge. Got 75% but it only lasted 5hrs when it started sending low battery notices. overall I like the watch mostly my problem is not getting the correct charger. b waiting for delivery from another souce.

    Heartbroken

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was quite happy with my previous watch, but extremely excited to see that the Galaxy Watch 3 was offering advanced heart rate sensors, ECG, advanced sleep tracking and eventually SpO2, BPM and max VO2 monitoring. All that's missing is temperature, and, well, blood sugar that no wearable can track currently. Enough so that I was willing to deal without 2-3 of my favorite WearOS apps that have no Tizen counterpart. I have resisted/ignored Samsung watches in the past because of the lack of apps in the Tizen store. But I thought other features made it worth it to find a way to get by. Except within a few hours I realized I would return this product The watch is as amazing as advertised, but I was SHOCKED to discover this absolute deal-breaker: the Always-On-Display in dim mode has been limited by Samsung to 15% brightness to compensate for batteries that are too small. (BTW, I understand this to have happened with the onset of Tizen 3.0, and also applies to Facer and, presumably, other premium watchface apps). Many of the beautiful Watchmaker faces I have and love are simply not bright enough - to the point of barely readable - in dim mode. Completely ruined this watch for me. I'm disgusted. This is something I would have only expected from Apple.

Beware if you are going to swim with this watch

after owning the watch 3 month the watch started to acting up and send it in for repair. i got a $198 bill to repair! when i called for explanation i was told water damage, when i explained i used it twice a week for swimming, i was told warranty did not cover that. when i asked what is the swimming icon in the watch for then well they repeated warranty did not cover water damage. it is only good for 5 min to be immersed in water. huh? who swims 5 min. otherwise great watch but beware of the deceptive marketing. FYI had the previous galaxy watch 2.5 years swimming no issues.

    Features not available yet...Once again

Having brought the Active watch 2 because of the promise ECG and this watch because of the added Blood Pressuring monitoring...it's disappointing to see that none are available out of the box. I've had the Active 2 watch for several months and it still does not have the Ecg feature which was promised months ago. So now we are selling products that are unfinished and features that were a selling point not being release yet advertise that they do. If you can't sell the items being honest, don't sell them. This is the reason I went back to the Apple watch. Disappointing to say the least!

    Glorified Paper Weight

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this for the ECG functionality as I do not have an Apple phone and can not use the Apple watch. After charging up the watch and doing the initial setup I went to try and setup the ECG functionality. It was here where things fell apart. In order to use the app that runs the ECG you have to set a password to the device, something I do not want to do as I am sick of having to add passwords to everything and do not want to run the risk of bricking my phone should I forget it. After speaking a couple of time with Samsung tech support they informed me that not only is there no way around this, but you are also forced to log into a Samsung account. As my sister's phone was bricked because someone hacked her account this was an immediate no go. Since the singular feature that I bought this paper weight for is unusable this thing will be going back to the store. Save yourself the trouble and do not buy this thing.

Watch is great Samsung support is not

I love the product but the reason I'm leaving a one star review is because the product warranty support. About to watch a few months ago and went to six flags and had a wonderful day where my watch stopped working while I was at the park sent it in for a repair and him told that water damage destroyed it even though there was no physical defects with the watch and its waterproofing system somehow it's on me to replace the watch not the manufacturer for a manufacturer defect. The product claims that it has water resistant features up to a certain depth but couldn't even handle less than 2 m of water Don't waste your money on this product or Samsung watches in general because if you have a problem with them the support staff will not help you.

Run away if you don't own a Samsung phone

Even though it says compatible with android phones. It isn't really. I have a Pixel 4 and the phone app software hang when you try to set it up. Common problem apparently. Solution is to uninstall, install previous version from sketchy we site, log in, then update to newest version of the app. This bug cost me 90 minutes to figure out. (2) The samsung health monitor app (The one that supports ECG, not the other simple step counter) doesn't work on non android phones - you have jump through hoops to get it which include setting up developer mode on a laptop and on the phone etc. This was another 60 minutes of wasted time. It *might* be worth it if you have a SS phone, but if you want ECG functionality, get an iPhone and iWatch.

    STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG

If I could give this product less than a 1 Star, I would do so. I purchased the Galaxy S3 watch in June of 2021. In Sept of 2021, the watch stopped working completely and would not power up. I sent the product back to Samsung (within the warranty). After 2 business days at their location, it showed the repair was covered under warranty. At the 3rd day, it showed the repair cost was $187 because of "water damage" In the 3 months I owned the watch, I never showered, washed dishes or did anything where the watch was submerged in water. They refused to honor their warranty for a defected product. I will NEVER purchase a Samsung product again. BUYER BEWARE!!

I bought this watch so I could keep track of my blood pressure and heart rate. After charging the battery and turning on did the software update and started setting up the watch. Downloaded several apps to run the watch. After downloading My BP lab 2.0 found it would not work with my Motorola Moto Z4. So I had to return the watch. Their web site says it will work with any android phone but seams like unless you have a Samsung phone it will not work correctly.
