You would think that a vendor made always on display feature would, you know ... work. But Samsung continues to impress me with unrelenting fail after fail.

Figured this would work with an iPhone, even if just for alerts, but I was wrong. They stopped supporting this with the iPhones.

    Best Android Watch Yet

    Posted .

The other reviewers clearly do not know how to use the watch. Notifications for apps need to be turned on seperately from the phone and you can litterally put any face you want on the watch using Facer or another watch face app. This is by far the best Android watch to hit the market yet. The joining of Tizen and Wear OS is a perfect balance for Samsung features with Google Play applications. The only disappointment I have is the lack of the Google Assistant which I hope will be updated in future.

This watch does a lot so I can understand battery life being less than ideal, but I can get about a day and a half on a charge, which works fine for me; I just charge it when I go to bed. My body composition measurement seems a bit off but I don't really care about that bit of info anyway. I've seen others with more accurate readings on their Watch 4's so I'm not marking it down as a whole because it probably is just user error on my end. Anyways, it feels solid, it looks great, and the display is very nice.

Good watch, wrist band is not its equal

Having owned and been satisfied with a Watch 3 for 5 or 6 years, I elected to get a Watch 4 when the battery in the 3 at last became unreliable. The watch itself is good. The charging disk is a change from the cradle which had a removable USB but it travels nicer, although I worry the permanent wire connection may break easier. What appalled me though was the wrist band, and is the reason this watch is going back to the store. Its not a Brietling, but its a higher end watch, you pay a few bucks for it, and I was shocked at what a cheap plastic synthetic yucky weird colored band it came with. My bad in some ways, I shoulda asked more questions. My 3 had a nice professional black leather band, this band is a complete embarassment and I wont be seen in public with it.

I bought the 42mm version of this because I prefer the look of the smaller size. I've owned the original Galaxy Watch, the Watch 3, and now this, all in the smaller size. The look and feel on this are better than the others. It is also a little lighter and thinner, although not that different from the Watch 3. The big issue is the battery life. I would get about 30 hours on the Watch 3. While that wasn't as good as the original Galaxy Watch, it worked well to be able to use it through the day and then for sleep tracking, then charge it in the morning after exercise while getting ready for the day. This watch is lucky to get 12 hours of battery life. I first tried using it with the exact same setting as I was using on the 3. That meant not using "snore detection," which isn't on the 3, SP02, or stress measurement, but having heart rate measurement on continuous. I also had exercise and sleep detection enabled. After a few days for it to learn my usage patterns, I put the watch on after getting showered and dressed in the morning. With the 3 that would have meant being able to use it until I finished my morning exercise and having about 40-50% battery life left. The 4 was down to about 30% at bed time, and the battery would die some time during the night. I got up and charged it and it said I had 24 hours of life left. Then after a couple of hours I looked and it was down to less than 60%. Next I tried turning off everything that I had been using, leaving them all on manual only. I was never using wifi, Bixby, or GPS on the watch, so those were already off. I turned the brightness down from about 40% to about 25%. The battery life was marginally better, but still wouldn't make it through the night unless I took it off in the evening to recharge it before going to bed. I could use this if I was willing to deal with charging it multiple times a day, but that's either inconvenient, or turn on power saving mode, but then it's not really a smart watch. I ended up returning it. I'll wait to see if the next version is any better. While I'm at it, I also hate the new charging cord that comes with this and came with the Watch 3. The charging stand from the original watch was MUCH better, since you could use any USB cable with it. This has such a short cord that it's almost useless. I don't have any outlets that are close enough to be able to use this to charge the watch where I like to. I ended up getting a double wireless charger with a spot for the watch, but it means buying one more thing that I didn't need since I already had a single wireless charger for my phone.
