I purchased this item, and there was no charger in the box. I contacted BestBuy and they stated that they could only replace the full item. However, if I were to do this, I would be charged a $45 restocking fee (because the item had already been activated)

Great Watch, but Few "New" Features Over Watch 4

First and foremost, if you’re an existing Watch 4 owner, there’s probably not enough here to make it worth laying down the money for the Watch 5. There are a couple of “nice” features, but nothing that is going to make it completely worth your while. Pros: Slightly larger battery Wear OS instead of Android Not as heavily tied to the Samsung apps ecosystem Super fast charging with USB-C charger Cons: Biggest new feature (skin temp for sleep analysis) isn’t even turned on No wall charger for new USB-C cable That said, the Watch 5 is Samsung’s newest release, but features little in the way of “new features” over the previous release. Same size, form factor, though a bit heavier thanks to a slightly larger battery. Perhaps the biggest new feature (long overdue) is that the watch now runs on Google Wear OS 3 instead of Android, opening the watch to be able to download apps from the Google Play store with a lot more ease than its predecessors. You can also more easily replace all the Samsung-added apps, including the voice assistant no one likes but won’t go away, Bixby. Wear OS allows you to change this out for the much more widely used Google Assistant, allowing you to seamlessly issue voice commands and access home automation. The watch also boasts a bigger battery, but your results will vary. The Watch 5 gives me about 2 days of battery use, but that’s if I turn it off overnight between day 1 & 2. I generally don’t like wearing it overnight for sleep tracking so I don’t have the charge the device during the day when I want it tracking my actual activity. Note also my 2 days of use is without the “always on display” feature turned on, which will eat substantially more battery over the day. In fact, with the display on during setup, it used 10% total in less than 30 minutes doing the initial setup and updates to the watch. The LTE version, if not connected with Bluetooth to your phone, will deplete the battery rapidly, as well. Samsung also changed the shape of the back of the watch, with it now being convex where it sticks out more, instead of sitting flat, giving the watch better contact between the watch and your arm, which improves sensor accuracy. I though it might make the watch uncomfortable, but found it’s not even noticeable, and I do find that my heartrate is tracked much better during heavy exercise than the previous version of the watch. Samsung also touts better sleep tracking with this, but that’s predicated on the new skin temperature sensor on the back of the watch that, at the time of this review, had yet to be enabled by Samsung. So perhaps the one actual new feature included on this over the Watch 4 doesn’t even work, with no timeframe estimate on when it will be. They have also added much more durable glass, using sapphire crystal, which so far has proven scratch-resistant for me. Here’s to hoping it stays that way. As noted, you can now easily add Google Assistant, Google Wallet, and other non-Samsung apps directly from the Google Play Store. But you can only customize 1 of the 2 buttons to launch apps (I made mine launch Google Assistant). The bottom button remains tied to Samsung Pay, whether you’re using it or not. Of course, this watch works best when paired with a Samsung phone. The sensors will work with any fitness app you wish to use (Strava, Nike, etc.), though you’ll get the most out of it with the Samsung Health app, which people have a love-hate relationship with. Overall, the watch is fast, and battery life is better than previous models, and I love my Samsung watches going back to the first one they released. but barring anything major in the future with watches, I’ll probably go back to my “skip every other model” plan for watch ownership. It’s a great watch, but not enough “new” for me as compared to the Watch 4.

Basically just a watch phone , cant even use gps with the LTE model unless connected to your phone which defeats the purpose. Buy it if you want to pay extra for a miniature phone.

    Nice upgrade from Watch 3

Setup was extremely easy & only took about 15 minutes. And that included the setup wizard establishing LTE service on my existing mobile plan. It uses a magnetic charging ‘puck’ which is very similar to the one that my previous Watch 3 used, and the Watch 5 will also charge when using the puck from my Watch 3, so that’s nice. However, as is the norm these days, there’s no charger included - just the puck & attached cord. And the new puck uses USB-C, so you’ll want to make sure you have an appropriate charger or adapter. Battery life is okay, so far. I’ve been getting about a day and a half, including wearing it during sleep so I can take advantage of the sleep tracking, but I have been using it quite a bit more than I normally would. I suspect, under normal use, I could probably go two days before needing to recharge again. Watch features are great; some of the best around imo. Manual and automatic tracking of several different exercise activities, sleep tracking (and coaching after it collects a weeks worth of data - not sure what that really does yet though), send/receive SMS, Google Maps, on-board storage for a moderate amount of music, and the list goes on. It also adds a body composition analysis function, and it’s supposed to have a skin temperature sensor, but in true Samsung fashion (referring to prior models promised blood pressure monitoring that STILL hasn’t arrived in the US) the skin temperature sensor isn’t available for use yet. And the switch from Tizen to WearOS has really opened up the selection of wearable apps. Overall, a very nice upgrade from my Galaxy Watch 3

Won't charge while searching for cellular signal and over heats. It gets stuck in a boot loop, constantly turning on and off while I wear it. It's very slow. Complete garbage of a product and good luck returning it. Unless it's totally broken you won't get anywhere with Samsung.

Iterative Update - Battery improvements only

TLDR - If you're already a Galaxy Watch 4 user, don't bother with the 5 series. If not, this is the best choice for android users (for now). I have been using the Galaxy Watch 5 for about 10 days now and it replaced a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE watch. Aside from the missing physical bezel, the Watch 5 is pretty much identical to my prior Watch 4 classic, with slightly improved battery life compared to my Watch 4. The only truly new feature is the temp sensor, but Samsung has not activated it yet, and judging by past history (still waiting on BP monitoring here in the US from the Watch 2 active!), it may never come. iPhone users need not apply - it's not compatible at all. Positives - This is easily the most feature complete watch for an android user. Comfort and features are all largely the same as the Watch 4 series. For non-Samsung android phones, the Samsung Wear app will provide almost 100% the same features as using it with a Samsung watch, but you'll have to deal with the Samsung Health ecosystem to get any of the monitoring features working. The battery life is improved over my watch 4 classic, but only slightly. As an LTE device, I can leave my phone behind (I accidentally did this a few times already) and make it through the day while still getting my notifications, messages and phone calls. The faster charging (via the included USB-C charger only) is a nice addition. Negatives - I miss the physical bezel interface; the touch bezel on the 5 is just not as reliable or effective as the crown on the watch 4 classic. Battery life is still just only one day, and the included USB-C charger is slightly smaller than the previous Watch 4 charger, so my Spigen stand no longer fits it. Overall, this is a great choice if you have a Samsung phone, but there's not enough improvements to justify getting the Watch 5, if you can find the Watch 4 series in stock at a lower price.
