Best Smartwatch!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung Galaxy Watch5 PRO LTE This is by far the best smartwatch that I've ever had. Not only does it do the basics it also does so much more! I also have the Galaxy Watch 4 40mm which I purchased with my S22+. Although I like the Galaxy Watch 4, I do love the new improvements of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. First of all, I love the 45mm size! I can now see my messages or see who's calling without my glasses! It is all black with a black watchband that has magnets to keep closed. Include in the box is a USB-C charger. I contacted my wireless provider to activate my watch. Now I can make and receive calls without being near my phone or wi-fi. I'm not a fitness buff, but being a senior citizen I like to keep up with my body stats. The Galaxy Watch 5 PRO can register your heart rate, take EKG, register BMI, skeletal muscle, record your sleep. You can use the GPS to record your route while walking, running, etc. If your sport or physical activity is not listed on the app, you can add it. Overall, I really love this Galaxy Watch5 PRO! Highly recommend!

Horrible Fitness Tracker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up returning it because of the horrible GPS tracking. Great smart watch, but shouldn't be marketed towards those who run or do strength training.

Amazing Watch with a Frustrating Learning Curve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was attracted to this watch for 2 reasons. The first is the LTE. I had wanted the LTE version of an early version Galaxy watch but couldn't find one to buy so I got one without the LTE. I thought that it would be nice to not have to have my large expensive phone along as I exercised or walked about in today's crime ridden cities. Being a watch collector, I also avoid wearing an expensive looking watch in public as I travel, especially in the large cities. The second reason was the health measurements that this watch can take. I have enjoyed being able to wear this watch during my workouts without having to have my phone nearby. The watch seems to measure my exercise time and heart rate the same as the machines that I use. The only curious thing that has happened is that one day during an "other workout" The watch for some reason switched to "auto-pause" and measured my 20 minutes on that machine as 7.5 minutes. I'm not sure what triggered this. It has only happened the one time. I love the sleep monitoring and reporting. While sleeping with a watch on does wake me occasionally, I really like the sleep feedback the watch provides. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea a couple of years ago. I tried a CPAP and hated wearing it. The CPAP made me feel no better so I stopped using it. I understand that this watch isn't a substitute for a (actually another) medical sleep study, but it does show me how sound my sleep is as well as if my blood oxygen level has gotten low. A watch that has continuous oxygen monitoring, heart rate monitoring, BIA (body fat analysis), a telephone, EKG, stress (OK I'm clueless here), GPS... is truly amazing to me. I will say that with all the features packed into this small watch there is a huge learning curve and that after a short time with the watch, much of it remains unexplored. I have had a couple of frustrations with the watch. I tried and tried to set up the E-Sim to get LTE activated. The app led me around in circles. I finally gave up and went to Verizon. It took 3 people and an hour for them to figure it out. The number of menus and the depth of some of them can be a bit frustrating. When I click on the user's manual on the phone app it says that it is not available in my language or compatible with my operating system or browser. Much of what I have learned about the watch has been learned the hard way. The other thing that I have been surprised by is the amount of time some of the readings take (i.e. EKG, Oxygen...). The battery life is not great with everything turned on. In spite of my frustrations setting up and learning this watch I really do like it. This may sound silly but every time I answer a call on the watch, I get a silly grin remembering Dick Tracy.

A More Pro Build Feel
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a solid evolution on the now long-time product. The smartwatch market has become more saturated than ever before, and new partnerships have emerged. One of them is Samsung and Google. Google is yet to produce a smartwatch, but they have been making and OS (Wear OS) for a while now. Samsung on the other hand is one of the biggest players in hardware for smartwatches and has some software experience with Tizen OS. Last year’s Galaxy Watch 4 had some Google flavors, but the partnership didn’t feel fully fleshed out. The 2022 line of Galaxy Watch 5’s marks the first product to feature the combined efforts of Google and Samsung from start to finish. Build/Software: If it’s a modern Samsung product it’s going to look and feel like it belongs at the top of the food chain. Nothing has changed here. This Pro model makes use of titanium which keeps it light and strong. Even if it looks a little chunky, it doesn’t feel like it. Both versions of the Galaxy Watch 5 uses sapphire, however this one uses an even stronger version of this sapphire display. On the Pro, the display sits within a rim which provides added protection. Let’s talk about this rim. On last year’s Watch 4 Classic, this rim was a rotating bezel. Now, the watch is fully touch. There is no rotating bezel. This is by far the most polarizing feature or lack thereof. There is a strong argument to be made that the rotating bezel was Galaxy Watches killer feature. It separated it from all other watches in the market. It feels like a step backwards. The software feels mostly unchanged. This makes me feel like most of the Google software help came in the form of behind-the-scenes software functions. For example, battery life has improved significantly. Part of this is probably due to better software optimization, not just a bump in battery size. The faster charging is incredible. Its stupid fast. Real world experience for me has been very, very good. I can’t envision a situation where this thing is ever dead. The feel of the new band design is also great. Its super easy to put on and take off, as well as adjusting the length. Samsung claims the sensors have been improved. This is in part to the design of the area that comes into contact with your wrist. I can’t prove or disprove this as I don’t have other wearables to compare it too. However, I haven’t gotten any crazy values like heart rate or steps. So, at least it must be consistent in its measurements. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a step up in build quality from not just the Galaxy Watch 4, but also the standard Galaxy Watch 5. If you strongly value build quality then the Pro is a nice option.

My first Smart watch and its pretty awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the longest time I never though a Smartwatch was something I actually wanted and/ or needed. Well thats changed now after seeing all the cool things it can do. Theres not much in the box other than the watch so unboxing is rather simple. But once I saw and then felt the watch I could tell Samsung built this thing to last. The watch looks amazing. Yes its a lot larger than a standard watch but of course it has to be with all that is packed inside. The 45mm screen is the perfect size and all the info is so well laid out you can see everything you need easily. The titanium case has a raised lip to prevent scratches and screen damage. The unique sports band holds the watch in place well, and easily stays in place and on with even rigorous activity. The initial set up was very easy pairing it to my Galaxy S21+. Then its just a matter of installing the widgets and getting all the settings the way you want it. I was starting from scratch, but if you are upgrading you can restore data. I personally prefer the old school look of hours and minute hands. But there are plenty of other ways to personalize it to your taste. One of the coolest things I have found this useful for is when I am out on bike or scooter rides. Using the GPS on my watch is a lot more accurate on my scooter rides, and a lot easier on bike rides since I use to have to always pull out my phone to check things like calories burnt, distance, etc. Ive never trusted a $1000 phone with a plastic phone holder so I always keep my phone in my pocket. So being able to just glance over at my wrist for all the info I need including heart rate, etc. has been great. Answering calls, texts, and receiving notifications all work perfect as well. I was pleasantly surprised at the microphone and speakers quality. I was sure there would be issues, but I was able to hear and be heard with no issues at all. The improved 590mah battery in the 5 allows for a full day of heavy use and more. But I just do the same thing I do with my Galaxy S21+ and use the 25w charger to get both charged so they have full life at the start of each day. Like I said before this was something I didnt know I wanted or needed until I tried it. It has so many unique things it can do and makes a lot of what you can do with a phone easier with a glance at your wrist. I look forward to finding more cool things it can do to make things easier and more productive. If you are looking for a Smartwatch this is one you should not pass up. Much recommended!

Much improved over the previous Galaxy Watch4
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro is a great improvement over my previous Watch4. The Pro version has many features aimed at outdoor activities and is much more rugged and with longer battery life than the 4. Samsung ditched Bixby and added Google Assistant in it's place which makes this a much better and easier to use watch than the previous version. The Watch5 Pro is much bigger than my previous Watch4, but with this bigger size comes a longer lasting battery and a much more rugged watch body. I like all of the additional outdoor and health features that are added with this watch and it makes it easy to get outdoors and have some fun and be able to track your progress and keep track of your health. The larger display makes it much easier to write on the screen when texting or making notes and the speak to type seems to be work MUCH better than my previous Watch4. I have also had way less freezing and overall the Watch5 just seems faster and more responsive than my previous watch. I would highly recommend this to anyone that uses a Google phone and the tight integration with Samsung makes this an excellent choice for anyone using a Samsung phone.
