Verizon + standalone = dont work

Different verizon support reps also seem to believe this, but, after so many hours, on the phone with Verizon, it appears you may only use this as a companion device, with a smartphone. I expect this is verizion, not samsung. I find itvodd that the only standalone watch Verizon currently supports is apple.
