Google-fi texting did not work

But the 2 free years of Google-fi didn't work for text messages. I had countless calls and emails to Google-fi. I even called my cell phone provider. I finally took the watch back in to Best Buy and stayed there an hour while the tech and the manager tired to fix it. No one was able to. Finally, the manager waived the restocking fee and allowed us to return them for the Bluetooth versions.

To take advantage of the Free 2 years data and texting included promotion through Google Fi, please update your watch, when the update is available, in the Galaxy Wearable app. Then once your device has been updated, please open the Galaxy Wearable app, navigate to your watch settings, then to mobile plans, and finally Setup mobile plans. *Google Fi phone plan not required. No changes to your current phone number or plan required. 4G data speed is included with the offer up to 500 MB per month, after which usage, data will slow to 256 kbps. Data will be capped at 1 GB per month. Voice calling over LTE is not supported. Hope that helps. Not a Fan!

It's been 2 months since purchasing and I'm seeing new things about the device daily but the major down side is the battery consumption; IT"S AWFUL. It doesn't last a full day without charging.

I have not been able to wear it 2 consecutive days due to the battery is dead more than it is working. Too much $$$ to not be able to use it. I can't give any info on the features, can't use them. My suggestion is don't buy the Galaxy 8.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 requires a Samsung mobile phone to use the most important health monitoring functions. Generic Android phones will not work. Samsung Galaxy Tablets will not work. (It took an hour of conversation with their online support agent to get it to finally admit this. At one point it actually told me that I could set up the watch without a Samsung phone as long as I used a Galaxy phone instead.) So if you want to use these functions, you must own additional Samsung products. Moreover, the phone must have and active mobile/internet connection, according to the documentation. Finally, in their privcy statement Samsung claims the right to maintain substantial and personally identifiable data on their remote servers in indeterminate countries where US laws have no effect. It is not clear whether this includes personal health data. I did not see where such data was specifically excluded from that being captured nor did I see any promise that such data would not be captured in the future. The invasive privacy data collection/terms coupled with the proprietary and captive design of the device (vis-a-vis Apple) was unacceptible to me. I returned the watch. (Kudos to Best Buy for accepting the return without issue.)
