I got the watch for my husband, but he only used it for a few days because it drained the power from his phone. It's now collecting dust.

I’ve owned my Galaxy Gear 2 since its release date and it’s a definite upgrade from my Galaxy Gear. From the faster processor, camera placement, extended battery life, and dust/water resistance. Out of the box NFC makes connectivity a breeze to my Galaxy Note 3. In my opinion the Gear 2 is a sleek High~tech Piece that demands attention. The Gear is definitely a conversation starter with the women because it stands out especially when taking pictures, answering/making calls or even responding to emails/texts. At the gym or just exercising, obviously the Heart rate Monitor and Pedometer are very useful. The battery life is extended, but depends on the user. I’m a brutal user of my Galaxy Gear 2, and I can usually get about a day’s battery life before having to recharge with the very small charger that is easy to loose. I Highly recommend The Plantronics Voyager Edge Bluetooth with portable charger for discrete conversation when answering the Gear 2 and also because The Voyager Edge Has NFC and can connect up to 5 devices. Don’t forget about the Best Buy 2 year Replacement even though the Gear 2 has been tested and received an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of IP67, which means that it is protected against dust intrusion and capable of withstanding water immersion of between 15 cm to and one meter for 30 minutes . Overall I am very pleased with the Purchase of my Galaxy Gear 2.

    Just what I needed

I have tried the Moto 360, LG wear, and the Samsung Gear 2. This Samsung Gear 2 is Hands down the most useful. I was skeptical since it doesnt use the Android Wear software...but now after using all 3, the Tinzen is by far the easiest to use. Pros: Easy to use Can control the camera from your Gear 2 and see live view Battery life lasts 2 days Apps that are available are easy to use View all your photos from your phone on your Gear 2 Easy to customize your Watch Face Easy to customize your home screens (just like Android) Mic and speaker work good for making calls from the watch itself Cons: Not very many apps in the Market Uncertain future technology (I hope they keep developing Tinzen) Proprietary charger (annoying to charge) When I got the Moto 360, that cutoff bottom part of the circle is very annoying. It just ruins the look of the watch. You cannot customize very easy on the Moto 360. All functions are voice activated, and it gets confusing when you swipe alerts away. Battery life lasts 1 day. The wireless charging was the best feature.

By far the best smart watch on the market.

I've owned a few other so called smart watches, almost gave up on the concept altogether, and glad I didn't. If your OK with the style and use a late model Samsung smart phone your in luck, because no other smart watch on the market offers the features, all day heavy use battery life, and outdoors all weather durability. Out of the box you have everything you need, the setup is simple and the gear manager phone software works great. It has a handy camera I use to photo recipients, you can make and received calls clearly, read and srnd text messages, and record voice memos that converts text notes. I also found the heart rate and fitness features work well.

This second generation Samsung Gear watch corrects the shortcomings of the previous version. It's good looking, feature-packed, intuitive, and a nice extension of some of my phone's features to my wrist. Love the pedometer, heart rate monitor, camera, and having S Voice to answer questions.

I was initially worried about spending a lot of money on something that was not widely used but after the purchase I found that I am using it every day and looking at the apps that I never paid attention to before like the pedometer and heart rate. Batter can last 2-3 days at a time after the initial set up which drained the battery getting used to it and playing around. The watch alert you to phone calls, messages, emails and other apps that you choose to let it sync with your phone like notes and sports updates and the notifications are what you choose at the time weather it is vibration only or sound. Definitely worth the money.

Works great as an addition to your galaxy phone with apps and extra features like remote control and camera on your wrist. Only two things I wish the price was more affordable and that the battery could last more. Still well worth it if you are a galaxy phone owner

Everything is perfect except for the fact that you can't customize the ringtones or the fact that it makes a noise every time you take a picture but it works wonderful with my Note 4. If you root it then you can completely customize it. Thanks Best Buy for offering a discount on open items.

I missed out on the pre order by a single day. My local Best Buy is in Simsbury, Ct and the Samsung Reps were going to try and see if I could purchase any extra that might be shipped to the store. On the day of the launch unfortunately there were no extras. I went to the Best Buy anyway to check out the Galaxy S5. When I arrived at the store I began talking with Samsung Rep Alec about the launch and he was showing me the Galaxy S5. All the sudden he said he just got a message that another Best Buy close by had gotten a drop shipment and they might have gotten a few Gear 2s. We called the other store and I rushed to purchase the only Gear 2 that store had received. Thank you Alec!! The Gear 2 is everything I thought it would be. The build quality is excellent and sits very comfortably on my wrist. The pairing with my Note 3 was simple and configuring the watch settings was a breeze. I've been using the Pebble for the last 4 months and although this watch is $299.00 compared to $150.00 of the Pebble, the extra features of the Gear 2 make it worth every penny. As a guy who takes his technology very serious I am thoroughly impressed. Samsung has set the bar with the Gear 2.

...for some reason, after all the (exaggeration) mediocre reviews, the device is short supply! After talking with a few Samsung representatives, they only get 2 maybe 3 at a time per monthly delivery. It's very strange, but I will tell you this thing is a blast and living up to expectations! It's very versatile and stylish and day to day productive. It looks good too. Yes, a little pricey, but it's a newer technology. Also, if you are looking to get in to Tizen development, Samsung has a SDK for it. You can get your apps running right on the device!

    Overall Great Device

Pros: First off I absolutely love the physical appearance of the watch. It looks rich and business ready! You wont go walking into a office without some kind of compliment towards this device. The watch strap is easy to use and comfortable, and can be changed. The home button was better placed in this model. Samsung really did a great job with their OS Tizen. It has great capabilities, it makes the color pop, it doesn't completely change from the android OS we are all use to, and it is very easy to maneuver around. Last of all the Bluetooth connectivity has improved from the older model. Cons: I really don't have much trouble at all besides the speed of the heart rate monitor and its sensitivity. The apps are limited now to about 40+, but are expanding more and more, The cradle is a bit small and easy to lose. I really wish they would have included a audio jack to the you would not be just limited to Bluetooth headphones (although Bluetooth headphones are better for running). Those are really the only problems I have with it besides that I would highly recommend picking this device up!

    Not Worth it Yet

The watch is too tight on my wrist. I cannot control the camera noise. I cannot respond to emails from the device. None of the music on my phone is supported by the watch. Not to mention, the apps are not good and I find the device was just another thing to annoy me when I got a message. Even the S voice was limited on what it could do with the device. I love a good tech toy as much as the next person, but I just did not enjoy this device. Perhaps in a few years when they have developed it more I will get one, but for now this was not the smart watch I dreamt of having when I was a child. I will be returning this the moment I get off work.

Gear 2 is great, but the band is TIGHT!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After somehow getting the only Gear 2 that Best Buy had in Austin, TX, I have spent a half day with this new device. I didn't come from a Galaxy Gear, so the overall experience is new to me. After somehow strapping my wrist into the band as if I were trying out for some tech inspired S&M video, I was easily able to sync the watch up to my Note 3 and begin the experience. Early impressions were positive (outside of the band darn near cutting off circulation to my hand). Notification on my watch were cool and helped keep the Note 3 in my pocket. I was able to add notifications from pretty much any app on my phone and found having my wrist buzz was an easy way to keep me in sync with my day. The battery was about 60% out of the box and seemed to be strong even though I kept messing with the Gear 2. It was cool to be able to use any picture from my phone and make it a background for the Gear 2. So for tomorrow - 1) Buy a new watch band. 2) See if there is a way to tweak the auto turn on setting. I seemed to accidentally turn the watch on quite a bit just going about my day. Since the screen stays on for a minimum of 10 seconds, I don't want to needlessly run the battery down. 3) Load some music onto the device and test out BT earbuds 4) Make a phone call and test the quality. 5) Take a couple of photos and see how they turn out. 6) Look for any/all apps available for the Gear 2.

The smart watch is the best accessory I have purchased thus far for my Samsung Note! With the ability to replace the band is a great option. I purchased a stainless steel band and the look is classy. Which is a conversation peace every where I go. The one thing the watch is lacking is the ability to add google now. The Tizen os is steadily improving the selection for apps. If the watch had android wear os I would give it 5 stars.

Big step up from the first generation Gear

After having the gear 1 and then hearing that the Gear 2 was comming out within a month I took it back after a week. I didnt realize that the watch wasnt even splash resistant and the watch band wasnt replaceable as the camera was part of the band. Had i kept it and not gotten the 2 i would have been livid. the Gear 2 is a huge step up from the 1 in many respects. the dual core- Tizen based operating platform will give delelopers alot more freedom with applications, so the skys the limit. Still no gps so you still have to lug your phone with you while your running. which is why i took away a star. its nice to have a smart phone but i would like to be able to be free from it while performing sport related functions like running or swimming(try taking your phone in the water. The phone is pricey and has a few bugs they are working out. but I enjoy it and am glad i took the gear 1 back. for those that have the gear 1, well, give that one to someone and move on up. overall a nice solid watch, the bands are now replaceable, should see some good stuff with that. phone at this time is only compatible with: Galaxy Mega, Note 2, Note 3, Note Pro 12.2, S III, S III mini, S 4, S 4 mini, S 4 Active, S 5, Tab Pro 8.4, 10.1 and 12.2 and select Tab 4 Series models for wide-ranging use. You can only set up one tv and one cable box, but its easy to setup and use. it only does basic funtions like turn on/off and volume controls.

I bought this watch 2 weeks ago to go with my Samsung galaxy s5. The battery life is good minimal use:4 days Max use:2-3 days. So far I have been fishing, cleaned fish, done tons of yard work, so many activities including swimming with it on and it still looks and works great. The charger is fine nothing good, nothing bad about it. The only problems I have with this watch is the lack of customization. You cannot add the apps you want to the main screen just delete which doesn't make a bit of sense, you cannot change the template of the reply to text messages, the background of it has to be a picture on it. If this had a few more apps and you could customize it more this watch would be amazing over 5 stars. A few small positives to finish the review, the camera is incredibly clear, its comfortable, when you point the watch towards you it comes on and it can be worn as formal or casual. Overall great product will get better with time.

    Just Got it, Looks Great

They released in US today 4/11. Looked everywhere and no one had them in stock. Then found a local AT&T store that got one Gear2 and one Fit. So I grabbed the Gear2. Just opened box and can share this. I am very pleased with the size, slimness and comfort. I thought it was going to be bigger. Just looks like a real nice watch. Second thing that I am afraid will be a problem for others. I am an average size guy. I had to use the last adjustment for it to fit on my wrist. I don't see how guys (or gals) with a large wrist will be able to wear this. Maybe there is another adjustment I am missing. It is charging now and I will attack it tonight. Will provide more updates after I get to use it. So far it is 5 stars for me on look and comfort.
