Perfect device for those who truly multitask

There is a lot of slack about the necessity of this device, it being bulky. Actually, The size is perfect. I had to get a bigger band because it didn't fit, but I also have fat hands and can navigate it sufficiently. It's awesome if I'm with a patient and not have to pull my phone out to check messages or phone calls. Pedometer and HR monitor are surprisingly accurate. Battery life for me is barely 2 full days. And that's stretching it. With heavy use, I'm often hanging around 50% at the end of the day. Great device, does what it's supposed to.

At first I wasn't going to purchase the Samsung Gear. But after I did I fell in love with the devices and now that I have upgraded to the Gear 2, I'm even happier, the new design is much better and feels more comfortable on my arm. I love the heart monitor and camera location which is much better than the first version.

Great concept but not there yet

The watch itself worked seamlessly. I guess the real problem is once you get over the idea of how cool of a gadget it is; you realize you really can't do too much with it. I had the watch for a few weeks before returning it. The cool factor just isn't enough to outweigh the fact that it just doesn't offer any real functionality for the price. I can't be heard using the speaker function no matter what environment I'm in. You aren't able to type a response to any emails or texts. The few apps that are available are too small to be useful/entertaining. The benefit is probably more for students who want to sneak and view alerts without pulling out their device. Otherwise it just isn't very useful is as. It does have potential.

The Samsung Gear 2 is the perfect edition too the Samsung smart phones. I am able to control all the main functions from the watch which allows me to keep my phone in my pocket. Allows me to send text messages, emails, and also place calls. The screen is scratch resistant and water resistant. The watch is very light for what it all does. It has a long battery life.

This beat the pants off my Pebble I have had for months now. My only negative is that it does lose power if you are a power user like me and a secondary charging dock is NOT available. Apparently has something to do with NFC in the dock and the phone are paired and so a second unit cannot be used. This sucks as I would love a second charger just to charge only. Other than battery life,,, great gear to have on my wrist!

    GREAT WATCH !!!!!!!!!

I original pre-ordered the Neo, which I thought I would get by pre-ordering. I was wrong about that,I was on back-order for that watch up to two weeks. I only wanted the Neo,because of the price difference and wasn't to concern with having a camera. But since the Neo was on back-order and the had this one to order. I had just decided to pay the extra money and get the Gear2. I happy with my purchase overall just because I heard about the Neo being made more of plastic. I had the original Gear and i fell like they are going in the right direction with this watch.

im a dental assistant. so in a fast pace environment i love how i can see whos calling me or who texted me while my phone is either in my pocket or in the back room charging. the great thing about it is that i can actually pick up the call on my gear 2 and talk to the person. i don't use it for long convos tho. i just say "hey im kinda busy, let me call u back in 5 mins" (instead of the person thinking im just ignoring him/her# as i finish up whatever im doing. along with a whole bunch of other cool things you can do with this magnificent device. NOW! what i don't like about the gear is that it wakes up to easily. like i said i work in a dental office so i had times when i go into the xray room to develop a film the gear wakes up and ruins the film #smh#. if there was a way to wake the gear up with a LIGHT shake that would be awesome. Also sometimes i just want to check the time and keep it moving. if there was a way to have the gear go back to sleep in about 3-5 seconds that would be great too. i think the minimum is 10 seconds and that's way too long for me. PLUS...enough already with the clock apps. i understand that android is big when it comes to customizing but i think we as gear 2 customers are fine with the 1st 3 million clock apps android provided. lets have something useful like a turn by turn navigation #that's useful while im riding my bike or walking#. too much games and clock faces. now lets think business!

I had the original Galaxy gear and I love that they brought back all teh similar functions listened to feedback. They added a new operating system and similar apps. You still have to have samsung device using gear manager app but the processing speed is fast. You can customize quick reply texts and more. Great upgrade and buy

The watch and other simple apps work fine with the device, but this is not a device for the exercise enthusiast. The heart rate monitor does not pick up when you are working out. The device says to wipe sensor off and try again, or just does not pick up the active heart rate. The phone works, dialing is great, speak to return text is good; however, again this is not for someone that wants to track their workouts.

    Perfect Campanion to phone

I use the watch for business and the watch is perfect reminding me of appointments, and receiving calls when I am away from the phone(watch works from a distance of about 40 to 50 feet from phone.) Also I use the watch for hiking and it is perfect for tracking my route, calories, heart rate, texting, and calls when phone is buried deep inside my backpack. I am very satisfied with the performance of the Gear 2.

    Great Smartwatch

After the release of a number of new smartwatches recently this emerged as the best one. This has all of the major features of the Apple Watch plus is water resistant, is less expensive and is available now. Don't read the "professional reviews" read the reviews from actual users. Android Wear has received a lot of hype but the functionality is still very limited. You can answer a phone call with this watch. Do I do that all of the time, no, but it is great to have the option.

Heart Rate was inaccurate 80 percent of the time

I purchased for the heart rate monitor feature primarily! The other frills not that important. The monitor does not function 80% of the time giving some sort of adjustment or placement message. The times it does work the reading taken during active exercise are mostly inaccurate when compared to the reading given using other measurement tools such as threadmill. You may want to view the report that Cnet published last week May 22, 2014 5:30 AM PDT on their findings. http://www.cnet.com/news/how-accurate-are-wristband-heart-rate-monitors/ I think Samsung should recall all these devices! At that price point $199.00 you would expect the monitor to work accurately. Wearable tech is all hype if it does not do what it is supposed to do.

Had this for 7 weeks - operated OK, although installing and operating software on it is a bit clunky. Then, with a software upgrade, all the sudden my car Bluetooth would not work. When I tried to reconnect the phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) to the car (a Toyota 4Runner, pretty typical Bluetooth system) I was *only* presented the option to hook the media audio Bluetooth to the car, while the phone audio was only permitted to go to the Gear 2. I had to completely uninstall all the associated software (Gear Manager, the fitness software I had paid for, and a few other apps) as well as shutting down/terminating them in the S4's application setup screens. Only then could I go back through the setup for the car Bluetooth and re-link the phone to my car. This has been an annoying experience and one that I 1# did not ask for and 2) occurred after weeks of successful ownership without any prompting from the device, the software, or anything else. I no longer want the device and am either going to get some kind of credit from Samsung or Best Buy, or otherwise simply trash it. I don't want a device "grabbing control" of the car Bluetooth #phone capability) and not leaving me an incredibly simple way of countermanding it. This is a simple case of a device/software asserting control over my preferences and requirements in a harmful way and it will not happen with this device again.

Underperforms and still no idea why this exists

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm not going to spend time reviewing the entire watch. If you're wanting to buy one, you should know what it does. This remains a big mystery: Why does this watch even exist? How hard is it to pull the phone from my pocket or my desk and check things out? Why do I need this watch to play music, take pictures, or otherwise alert me? The biggest use that this device has is if you want to be sneaky or subtle and check your alerts via watch versus hauling out your phone. But....that's why the phone exists in the first place! I gave this thing two weeks, I really did, hoping it would grow on me. It has no practicality. Oh, sure, it's a cool idea, but in practice, it's disappointing because I am forced to use a "stock" messenger program with the watch, and, the Bluetooth range is HORRIBLE! I left my phone in my office which was less than twenty feet from a meeting room. LOST CONNECTION. With clear line of sight, I can get maybe thirty feet away before connection drops. Thus....why does this watch even exist if I can't go too far from the phone? In the end, it's a gimmick that doesn't live up to the hype. Smartwatches do nothing to add to functionality of the cell phone, and serve as yet another device that needs charging and maintaining. This is a device whose time hasn't arrived. Don't believe the hype, don't get sucked into blind consumerism. Do your research (this device is averaging 3 out of 5 stars in reviews all over the web) and you'll discover you can buy the same for less, or, simply not buy it at all and be no worse for wear (pardon the pun).

Much improved over the 1st generation Galaxy Gear. The battery does last longer, but still could use improvement. The apps are plentiful now!
