Absolutely Awful

Beats Fitbit Blaze & Garmin Vivosmart 3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nearly a smartwatch. Notifications from any app on phone and you can feel the vibration, unlike other brands. Waterproof & great screen ! Performs as advertised. None of the fit trackers do perfect exercise heart rate due to technology limits but Samsung gets closer than the 2 others I tried. Price is right now too.

Too many flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've worn this thing for a week. The claimed battery life is completely false. The battery lasts one day, not including the night, on a charge. The auto excersise detector does not work at all. I wore this through 3 gym sessions and it did not register a single one. The floor counter doesn't register accurately in my 2 story colonial house. The heart rate monitor is very inaccurate while excersising (my BPM registered between 154 and 160 on 2 different treadmills, the Fit2 never went above 110) This alone renders this nearly useless as a fitness smartwatch. I think I'll be returning this for something else.

Nice features but Disappointing Battery Life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this band. It is packed with features including GPS, waterproofing and offline music but the battery life is a deal breaker. First, the positives: 1. Screen is gorgeous. So much nicer than Fitbit/Garmin products. 2. Full array of features. Too many to list but the standouts are all day HR tracking, GPS, offline music and a robust app platform. 3. Fit and comfort. This is personal but I like the way this looks. It's fairly thin across the wrist. I prefer my tracker to be boring and not noticeable. This fits that well. 4. I often have trouble getting wrist based HR trackers to work during cardio on things like elliptical and Stairmasters. Usually due to positioning and poor fit. This band seems to do better on that front. It picked up my cardio routines over the weekend within 5 minutes or so. It seems to stay put with the wide band so I think that's a good design choice. Now the problem and it's a big one. Battery life is horrendous. Samsung claims "up to 3 days" with typical usage. No way. I'm worried I can't even get two days on this thing. That is with location OFF, almost all notifications OFF and wrist gestures OFF. Even like this, it will barely last 2 days. What's the point of this if I have to turn everything off to get 2 days? I don't know what the issue is since I have the screen off almost all of the time so it can't be that. I even did a full reset and that improved things a little but still the target is barely two days. 2 days without GPS on at all is simply unacceptable. As I write this, the watch has been on my wrist for 30 hours and it's at 40%. I have a workout scheduled later for 45 minutes and I'm worried it won't make it through the day since the battery life drains fast when tracking exercise. Samsung needs to do better. I'm going to give this a few more days to see if it settles down but I'm not hopeful. I'll revise this if things improve.

Works Great- Nice Color Selection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I moved up from the standard Gear Fit2 to the Gear Fit2 Pro and was not disappointed. The built-in MyFitnessPal app seems to work better than the same app on the standard Gear Fit2, the default watch faces are better (more info), the style of the watch band itself (the way it looks and holds) is much improved, the fact that it claims to be waterproof is a needed improvement (they say you can track swimming now as i understand it, but it's not swimming weather where i am as i write this).. I haven't had any freezes/hangs/slowdowns etc. like i did often have with the original gear fit2 (so far, anyway), though with the original band I found when that happened a reboot often fixed it Battery life is good, i went at least 2 days without charging (which for a smartwatch is great, i read the apple watch won't last a full day) and had around 40-50% battery left at end of 2nd day (note: battery life depends on what you do with it, what apps and watch faces you install will also affect it). I do think exercise calorie tracking more closely matched the machines reporting of calories burned (on treadmill, elliptical).. Overall, I'm not disappointed with this upgrade from the previous watch, even if overall the core functions of the watch are not that much different than the standard Gear Fit2.

Cool look, disappointing performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch was a Christmas gift this past year, so I've had it for a little over six months now. I did my research and actively asked for this because it is a very sleek, attractive look, is waterproof (I free dive), and not a GIGANTIC watch on my wrist. Appearance and waterproofing have not disappointed. It also integrates with text, email, skype for business, etc. pretty well. The cons... IT DOES NOT FUNCTION AS AN ACTIVITY TRACKER. I went for a run with three different fitness trackers on my wrist on two different occasions and found the result to be the Gear Fit2 Pro only recorded 60% of my steps and distance. If I turn on any combination of the GPS, heart rate monitor, or music, I don't make it through my run before the battery dies. Also, it's been a while since I tried to add music to the internal storage, but it was an EXTREMELY clunky and slow process. So much so, that I never tried to add any more music after the first 10 or so songs. Given the position of this watch as a "hybrid" between fitness trackers and full on smart watches, I was very excited about it. I have been very disappointed with it's performance, though, and did not get any support from Samsung when I called to inquire about it. Non-functional eye-candy is how I would best characterize this product.

Terrible battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this when my FB Surge 2 bit the dust. Not that it really died, but the band finally gave way, and can't be replaced. I've had the GearFit for a few months and still trying to get used to it. Yes, it is cool looking. At a glance, I can read the screen easily. There are a lot of options and customization. Built in GPS and the bands can be replaced. Those are the primary reasons I bought this. I'm not a runner, but the GPS tracking is a must for cycling. Built in WIFI. After walking, I like seeing the steps, time and MPH. (who knew that I could walk so fast?) But for the few months that I wore this (bought in middle of winter, then never got around to having the bike tuned up), there wasn't any cycling so I can't comment on how well the GPS works. While walking, the GearFit will pick up on the activity, and if I glance at the face, it shows the activity time. This doesn't really help me, I'd prefer to see the steps at a glance. Again, I am sure that this is something that I have to customize. But that battery life! Went for a walk yesterday and realized yet again that I wasn't wearing it because it was at home sitting in the charging cradle (where it spends a lot of time). Seems like it has to be charged at least every 3 days. Ideally every other day, before you get the low battery notification. Activity tracking is not as good as my FB, or maybe it's just different. Spring and summer is lots of mowing (not a riding mower). 1 piece of mowing is around 5000 steps, the other two are around 7000 steps each. The FB would capture these steps, and pretty accurately, too. I know because I had someone with a Samsung tracker follow me around while mowing and we both recorded the same number of steps +/- 200 steps. The GearFit just says "other activity" or something like that, and does not capture the steps. I think I could probably push buttons on the tracker and tell it to capture my walking, not sure about this, but even if I could, I don't think that I should have to. Pairing with Samsung apps on my iPhone is a manual and tedious process. FB would constantly sync if I set it up to do so. The Samsung does not. In order to sync, I have to open the app on my phone, and make sure that my GearFit display is on. My SO tells me that there is no trouble with constant sync, so apparently this is something that is unique to me, another setting that I might have missed. For casual activity (ie, not a hard core runner), I think that this tracker is great for the price IF you don't mind the battery life. And if I could remember to charge it every other day, instead of realizing at the last minute that it's almost dead, I probably wouldn't mind. After doing some browsing, I was going to give this away and possibly go for the Garmin Forerunner 35 or 235. But not being a hardcore athlete, I am going to play around with it some more and give it until the end of the summer.

Very disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sleep tracker seems to work. About the only good thing I have to say about it. No battery life. Can't download any more exercises or circuirs to the watch unless you use a paid 3rd party app, all of which seem to just lock up the watch. No interval timer available for this. The heart rate monitor is grossly inaccurate unless you are at rest. Almost no apps available. Serious buyers remorse.

It looked good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life was terrible at losing 10 percent a hour(not so good when samsung claims around 3 days usage). Steps were off (I guess i exercise in my sleep since i woke up with 400+ steps. Whenever i drove up a hill it counted as climbing a step. The idea of it was good and i had high hopes but i think i will be trying out other products.

What not to do in the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Run, walk, swim, bike, yard work, hike, workout, canoeing, bowling, yoga, hot yoga, backpacking participate in any sport or any physical activity. I purchased this smartwatch and I wore it while working out at the gym, and while working out like anyone I sweat. The watch failed in month 10 and would not charge. I sent to watch into Samsung to repair it because it was within the one year warranty. Samsung returned the watch to me within a week and stated that the motherboard was corrupted because it got wet. I thought that to be strange because it was advertised that the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is waterproof, and I don’t swim just workout at the gym and yard work. So I went back and forth and was finally told that the watch was would not be replaced, and was not warrantable because it was my fault that I wore the watch and my sweat got into the watch and all Samsung watches aren’t waterproof. So I was out of money time and would have to buy a new watch. So to close do NOT buy this watch or any Samsung Fit watches if you are an active person. Please avoid what I went through and look into another brand. Samsung does not care.

Does the Job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this to help me keep track of my daily activity and find it very useful. I use the Samsung Health App on my phone as they complement each other very well. I enjoy the interaction between my phone and the Gear Fit2 Pro very much because my phone is in a case hanging from my belt so I rarely have to take it out just to look at the phone for information because I get a good snapshot of what is on the phone from the watch. Battery life is about 2 days I just need it to get through 1 day and I am happy because I charge it at the end of the day anyway. As for water resistance I doubt it after reading the horror stories about Samsung not covering water damage. How can it be water resistant to the point you can set it to swim with and it not be actually water resistant so I have opted to treat it as not being water resistant. If this thing were to die or get lost or stolen I would run out and get another one maybe even one of the larger versions with the round face.

DO NOT GET IT WET
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a great watch if you don't have to send it for repairs. I have had it for a little over a year had it sent in for a repair it came back not working properly sent it back and they said their was liquid damage on it. LIQUID DAMAGE ON A WATER RESISTANT WATCH?! The only liquid that touches this watch is sweat. I was told it depends how much you sweat. Is it no a FITNESS WATCH?! Don't waste your money on a Samsung you will just be out the couple hundred dollars and have to look for a new watch. Their customer service dept is also a joke they do not want to hear what you have to say they just accuse you of the problem.

Not bad, could be improved
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have gone back and forth about which fitness tracker to get after two horrible experiences with fitbit. So far I like the device, but it needs work. If you are one of those people who needs your device to be completely accurate your barking up the wrong tree. If you are normal and looking for something to give you a general idea of what your activity level is you'll probably be happy. Pros: Its not bulky, you can personalize the watch faces, and there are tons of apps and accessories you can use for it. It connects to MyFitnessPal. I'm going to assume it's water-proof, I've done dishes with it on and no problems. Haven't been swimming yet. Cons: The battery life is awful. 2 days maybe? The only consolation is I can charge it while working on lesson plans and it usually charges pretty quickly. It's also not super accurate. I can not go up a single flight of stairs in a day and it will say I've reached my "goal" of 10 flights of stairs. For the price I'd expect better tech. Overall it's not a bad device. It's by no means perfect, but nothing ever is.

Cannot Swim with it! Beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am VERY disappointed in Samsung and their marketing team. They lead me to believe that their Gear Fit 2 Pro was water resistant and that I could swim with it. I have not had it for even a year yet and I just swam with it once (in a 4 ft deep pool) and the screen went out. Called Samsung Support, they told me they would repair it as it was still under warranty. I sent in the watch and they want to charge me to repair it saying there is water damage?!? What happened to your marketing saying you can swim with it? I didn't dive with it! So I called Samsung support and he told me you can only swim with it for 30 minutes max. I don't remember seeing that in the ad? Your marketing team needs to say that upfront! SO DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD COMPANY THAT SELLS A SMART WATCH THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY SWIM WITH? AND THAT THEY WILL STAND BEHIND? Because I am in the market for a new smart watch... Fitbit, Apple, Garmin? By the way, in case you missed it, I do NOT recommend Samsung watches.

Could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The information on the watch could be good. It's comfortable to wear and not too big. However, the charge last only about 24 hours and its always vibrating with some sort of information. Step count not very accurate. More of a toy than a tool. Will probably return the watch.
