Posted .Hello Jcas, if water gets in the air vent hole after the Gear Fit2 Pro has been submerged in water, the Gear may act abnormally. Learn how to remove water from the air vent hole by following this link (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003455/). ^Elizabeth

Not for use in the water
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this watch for my daughter who swims competitively. 4 months after buying the product, the battery lost life, randomly shut off, and would not charge. I contacted Samsung customer service and they had me send it back to them for a repair. The watch returned with a letter that said the watch was unrepairable due to water damage. What? Samsung's website claims you can go straight from swimming laps to the shower. Did they mean with the watch, or without it? Apparently—stated contrary to the website and the box—Samsung customer service informed me that this watch is rated for less than 30 minutes in clean water (not chlorinated) and no deeper than 5 feet. By using the built in swim workout mode, you void the warranty and risk ruining the watch. We also purchased one for my son to use for running. His watch tracks three quarters of a mile short over a three mile run. Disappointingly inaccurate. When counting steps, the watches are fantastic, but so is a pedometer from the dollar store. So if you want a $200 pedometer then this is the watch for you. Just don’t count on it for swimming or running and certainly do not expect Samsung to stand behind their product or their marketing.

Not waterproof as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my watch six months ago and haven't had any problems with it. Then, a little over a month ago, I noticed the band was separating from the watch face. I knew it would eventually be an issue, so I had planned on sending it in for repair (hoping it would be covered under warranty). As it's supposed to be and is advertised as being waterproof, I have always showered and even swam in it with no problems. This morning I charged it to 100% and went about my day. I took a workout class at my office gym, took a shower afterwards and then went back to work. My watch vibrated, which it's set to only vibrate when the battery is low, so I looked and it was dead. I put it back on the charger and it said 1%. After inspecting, the band has seemed to separate more, so I'm wondering if water got into it when I showered after class. I started reading reviews on the watch, only to be extremely disappointed in what I found. It seems that water damage is a fairly common issue. And when people have sent their watch into Samsung for repair, they have been denied, saying water damage isn't covered under warranty. This is my first fitness watch, and I'm extremely disappointed to have it only last 6 months. I'm a Samsung user, and prefer their phones to the iPhone. So I'm really sad this watch didn't work and that people who have sent their watch in have had such horrible experiences in getting it repaired

Stopped working --3 different times
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this watch for Christmas last year (Dec 2017). My husband purchased the Best Buy geek squad plan which I am very thankful for. I loved the watch. It did everything that I wanted--heartrate, sleep tracking, steps, email/text other smartphone features. I wore it 24/7 only took it off to charge when I showered (charge only lasts 24 hrs at best with everything on). I never swam in it or submerged it. It did not get wet to my knowledge. I did workout with it so I sweated in it. It is a workout watch btw. It lasted less than 30 days before it shut off and would not turn back on. Black screen. I had geek squad so I brought it back and they replaced. Totally awesome. We thought it was a lemon. No worries. Got a new watch. The same thing happened again but it lasted about 3 months this time. Really odd but I took it back again and Best Buy replaced since I still had geek squad. Now I'm losing interest in this watch since this is number 3 and now I don't wear it to sleep anymore so it charges overnight. Watch number 3 stopped working after 3 months. Got another. It never came out of the box and I just returned it. Clearly, there is a problem. I don't submerge the watch I only workout in it. I have read other reviews where they had similar issues and sent the watch to Samsung(they didn't have geek squad) and Samsung said it had water damage so they wouldn't replace. I just bought the new Galaxy watch and am hoping for better results. Love this watch even more than the Gear Fit2. Hopefully, Samsung has fixed the sweat issue.Just in case I got geek squad.

Most disappointing purchase of 2018
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product fails, almost completely, to do what it's designed to do. Oh, there are some good points. The OLED touch screen is a revelation compared to Fitbit's crappy monochrome screens. And having onboard GPS and music capability is nice, but since I almost always have a phone with me not terribly important to me. And it does seem to count steps pretty accurately.And..... that's about it. What does it fail at? Well, it's totally incapable of recognizing a flight of stairs. I live in a typical American home with 8 foot ceilings. I typically go up and down the stairs about 10 times a day. The Pro 2 rarely counts more than 5. Sometimes as few as 2. It even sometimes fails to recognize the 12 foot flight of stairs at my gym. These forums are full of complaints about this problem on all of Samsung's wearables, and Samsung ignores them. The HR sensor might as well be a random number generator. When exercising, it has no relationship to my actual heart rate. I've compared it to a Polar chest strap monitor, which I've verified by comparing it to my manually taken pulse. On an elliptical trainer, the Pro 2 generally runs 20 to 40 bpm below actual. I've gotten off and had the Gear say my PEAK HR was 20 bpm below what the Polar shows as my average. For whatever reason, though, sometimes the Gear jumps up and shows numbers 30, 40, even 50 bpm higher than actual. It's shown my peak HR at over 190 bpm. I think I'd be dead if that happened. When weightraining, the Pro 2 varies from about 20 bpm too low to 20 bpm too high, and everywhere in between, at random. Sometimes it goes up when I'm resting and my HR is going down. Sometimes it just seems to get stuck on one number, no matter what my actual HR is doing. Oh, and it's supposed to automatically go on continuous HR monitoring when I start an exercise program, but that doesn't seem to work either. If I manually take my HR during exercise, it will show a number much closer to actual than the "automatic" reading. Battery life sucks. I have the HR sensor set to "Frequent," and if I don't go to the gym I can go about 3 1/2 days between charges. But if I spend 90 minutes a day at the gym (with the HR sensor on Continuous during exercise), which is typical, I can barely get 2 days of battery life. My old Charge 2, which had it's own problems, easily went 4 to 5 cays when I went to the gym every day. And while it's nice that I can see so much information on the watch itself, it does make the UI cumbersome. To start an exercise program, for example, takes something like 7 button presses, taps and swipes to start. Even stopping an exercise takes 3 actions, which seems like at least 1 too many. I'd fine things like the UI and battery life to be less annoying if the device did what it's supposed to, but it just doesn't. It's no better than (maybe worse), than a $30 fitness band. At $200, it's a complete ripoff.
