Not worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm so bummed! The idea is great, features are awesome, if only it was accurate. I have two sets of stairs in my home but end up with zero floors every day. The steps are also extremely off. I can't return it because it's been almost three weeks and Best Buy only takes returns within two. Complete waste of $200.

Samsung does not stand by warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a new Gear Fit 2 in July, 2018. It has some very nice features and claims to be water resistant to 50 meters. I received the watch and immediately registered it with Samsung. However, after wearing this watch for 2 weeks including swimming twice, the watch stopped working. Samsung was very efficient in transporting the watch back to the service center via UPS. I was then told that the watch had sustained water damage and was being returned with no compensation for my purchase. Through numerous phone calls and a letter to the Senior Vice President of U.S Customer Service, Michael Lawder, the answer in a phone call from a Samsung representative was the same. As soon as the consumer purchases this watch, any water damage is assumed to be due to the customer’s misuse of the watch and the “water resistant to 50 meters” warranty is null and void. If you’re planning on purchasing this watch, please get the Best Buy warranty, since Samsung will not stand by their warranty.

"Swimming watch" that you can't swim with
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my wife last Christmas. Initially we really liked like and I wished it had NFC. If it had Samsung Pay I would have gotten one instead of my Gear S3 Classic. Great screen. Nice app integration. Waterproofing for swimming. Lightweight... That all changed in about 6-7 months. All of a sudden it wouldn't charge and it wouldn't turn on. I contacted Samsung and they said the battery needed to be replaced. Since it was registered with my wife she needed to do the warranty request. Being that my wife takes a long time to get things like this done, about 4 months later it finally went in for repair. A few days later it showed up with a letter saying that Samsung would not repair it because it had water damage. I immediately went and looked up the specifications and the warranty. The warranty states that Samsung will not warranty water damage, but it will fix defects in the product. So my wife called Samsung to discuss the issue since the watch hadn't been used beyond the advertised specifications. She had swam with it 3 times for maybe 15 minutes each, but beyond that she never got it wet (probably a splash when washing her hands...). Since the watch is clearly rated for swimming in the advertised specifications, water damage is a defect in the product if it was never used beyond its rating. If you go to the official web page for the watch the very first thing it says is: "Go from swimming laps to jumping in the shower. Gear Fit2 Pro is water resistant up to 5 ATM*. And whether you choose the pool or open water, the Speedo On** app developed for Gear Fit2 Pro tracks your stats...". It goes on to state "water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010". If Samsung won't warrant it to its advertised water specifications, it should clearly stop highlighting the feature and having the Speedo app one of the default apps installed. Even though it's clearly stated that the watch is rated for water usage, the support rep my wife talked to on the phone said that since they said it was water damaged (which it states in the warranty isn't covered) they wouldn't fix it or replace it even though the water damage is due to the product being defective. What a waste of time and money... Bought a swimming watch, swam with it, it stopped working because it's defective, and then the company won't back up its advertised specifications. We're probably going to follow-up with support one more time because it's ridiculous that they won't replace a defective item. Given this interaction with Samsung, I'm hesitant to buy a Samsung product again. I almost bought a Note9 last week but it didn't end up working out. Was going to buy it in the next couple weeks but now I'm thinking I'll look elsewhere.

Great watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first smartwatch. My wife bought it as an anniversary gift in 2018. Only bad thing I have to say about it is the construction of the strap. It fits and feels well on my wrist but the way it is attached to the watch itself is poor. I have been through 2 of them as of last week with the same issue. They need to make it so you can change them out. I am glad my wife bought the extended warranty as Best Buy did give me another one. I am now getting the Smartwatch Active 2 instead of this because of the strap issue.

Unit is fantastic, but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the tracker! Does it's job very well. Great smart watch features, really nice to read and reply to text messages, get the weather, listen to music, etc. The issue, coming from 5 years of Fitbit products, is the Apps. F itbit has one app that does it all, and quite well. Samsung needs several apps that try to talk to each other, and the tracker, to do the same thing. Lots of lag, need to disconnect and reconnect every now and then. Not a compatibility issue, as I am using a Samsung S8+ for my phone. If Samsung can fix this problem, they have a 5+ star system!!!!

What not to do in the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Run, walk, swim, bike, yard work, hike, workout, canoeing, bowling, yoga, hot yoga, backpacking participate in any sport or any physical activity. I purchased this smartwatch and I wore it while working out at the gym, and while working out like anyone I sweat. The watch failed in month 10 and would not charge. I sent to watch into Samsung to repair it because it was within the one year warranty. Samsung returned the watch to me within a week and stated that the motherboard was corrupted because it got wet. I thought that to be strange because it was advertised that the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is waterproof, and I don’t swim just workout at the gym and yard work. So I went back and forth and was finally told that the watch was would not be replaced, and was not warrantable because it was my fault that I wore the watch and my sweat got into the watch and all Samsung watches aren’t waterproof. So I was out of money time and would have to buy a new watch. So to close do NOT buy this watch or any Samsung Fit watches if you are an active person. Please avoid what I went through and look into another brand. Samsung does not care.

Doesn't work with my running apps.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Fit2 Pro to replace my old Heart Rate Monitor, but after a week I still haven't been able to get heart rate info on Runkeeper or Strava. They claim that it works with these apps, but only appears to accept data from the apps and doesn't push heart rate to the apps. It is a nice watch and being able to see steps and heart rate instantaneously is really neat. I get a full day of battery on one hour of charge. I'm returning it today and will be looking for something else, or waiting for the service to be added.

great if you don't want to swim with it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I had not bought this watch to use for tracking lap swimming, it would have worked fine (other than the battery life not as good as advertised). The watch is advertised as water resistant to 10 meters and as a swim tracking watch. However, when it died in the water (swimming laps in a pool, definitely not over 10 meters), Samsung said it was repairable and they would not replace it. They said it isn't meant to handle extreme conditions and that "liquid damage" is not covered by the warranty. So apparently, an indoor swimming pool is "extreme conditions."

not accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Gear Pro for 3 days now and I am going to return it. The battery will hold up for 2 days before you need a charge. It's odd most things you have to program from your watch but the watch doesn't retain blocks that your phone has set up so emails at 2am, blocked by phone will vibrate on your watch. If you go to spin class this watch will not work, doesn't track steps while in class, where phone alone will if you are standing up on the bike. Watch will override the phone when it comes to tracking. If you sweat the heart rate will not work. Even after numerous times clearing the back of watch and placing it back on (very tight) when you press the button to get heart rate it will tell you to check and clean the back of the watch again. Going back to my Polar heart rate monitor.

Not for swimming, despite being advertised as such
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why advertise a product as swim ready or swim friendly when 1) it can get liquid damage and 2) this damage won't be covered? I got the gear fit 2 pro in October, and used it to swim almost every week for 9 months. Then it up and dies in a pool, with the water mode on. Now it isn't covered by the basic warranty. Liquid damage apparently isn't covered for a watch that samsung advertises as swim ready.

Loved it for the first 6 months.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband gave me this tracker for Christmas and I wore it about 23 hours a day for 6 months. I used it primarily to track steps and sleep. Then I stuck my hand in my fish tank to grab something from the bottom and soon discovered that it isn't really water resistant, The screen failed several hours later. I sent it to Samsung for repair and they sent it back with a note that they wouldn't fix it due to water damage.

Love the watch BUT then I didn't
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.band broke 4 weeks after I got it. defective part. It broke where the screws go into the plastic, cracked from being over tightened. i was wiping the band carefully with a microfiber cloth and it just fell apart in my hands. I absolutely loved this Mothers Day gift and was extremely gentle and over protective of it. Best Buy said sorry its past 14 days. Samsung said yes send it in we will fix it. After 10 days I get an email saying it was $70 for the band. I just got my watch back today, It is completely reset and the band isn't even put on! I have Samsung everything and love it. Never needed service before. I love the watch just do not send it to get the band done. I wish I had just bought a band off Amazon and been done with it. So why I love it, its a reality check. I know why I am not losing weight, It tells me everyday how much I didn't do LOL Had I written this review before the repair service I would give it 5 stars. That's why the low star rating but I would recommend. Watch is great, band and service suck.

Not Accurate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wildly inaccurate in step count and heart rate. Put on 1000 steps while driving and 76 while sleeping. Heart rate when active 20 - 30 beats high (checked with BP cuff) Nice display and comfortable to wear

Terrible running watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are considering this one because it is packed with features and affordable, move on to something better and bite the bullet. I could not get it to work with my Samsung(!) S7 phone, and it took the IT guy at work a solid 45 minutes to get them to sync. First hurdle, it should not have been that difficult. It synced ok with the Aftershokz open ear headphones, but on my first run the GPS drained the battery in about an hour. Oh well, it was a beautiful morning under a moonless sky with lots of stars, so at least it was a nice run. It can work with Strava, but getting the app on the watch was another half hour, and it does require that the workouts be synced manually (grrr). And, for the GPS to locate the watch, it needs to be disconnected from the phone via turning off the phone's bluetooth 5-10 minutes prior to the run (double grrr). Oh, and the heart rate monitor is all over the place- it's close some of the time, varies wildly in it's guess of your heart rate most of the time. In conclusion, once you get past the syncing process it works ok as a smart watch, but not great. And, it might be ok for doing 5k's or maybe a 10k, as long as you're ok with it not really wanting you to do those things, but otherwise spend a little more and get something a little more satisfactory. Run away like krill in front of a humpback whale!
