Great upgrade for Samsung
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the Gear S3 on a whim while picking up my Google Home. I did have a Fitbit and previously an Apple Watch (when I had an iPhone through work) and realized that while I always wore a watch, a smartwatch wasn't exactly the thing I needed. I mean, who needs another screen to remind me that I have 200 unread emails? However, on a whim, I bought the Gear S3. At first the S3 seemed large (much larger than fitbit and apple watch for sure!), but not much bigger than a regular timepiece. It also has the weight of a good automatic watch, like an Omega. Connecting to my Galaxy S7 Edge was a snap - the app was preloaded - I started it, it recognized the watch in about 30 seconds and began configuring it. After about 5 minutes, it was ready to go. Functionality: The Gear S3 is super easy to use. The bezel on the top moves smoothly but doesn't get bumped or moved accidentally, even with my hands in gloves or in my pockets. Vibrations for notifications are felt easily. Apps are installed quickly through the Gear app, as are pictures and additional faces. Oh, as it relates to faces - unlike the Apple Watch, custom faces are easy to create, even if they kind of sort of look like a real watch (Apple frowns on making your Apple Watch look like an Omega or Rolex). I did take a phone call from the watch and my wife said she didn't even notice I was speaking into my watch vs. on the phone. Fitness tracking: Coming from a Fitbit and an Apple Watch, my expectations were high. Both of those fitness trackers were first rate. That said, the Gear S3 is on par with them - step tracking is excellent, workouts are logged perfectly, and heart rate (while it does take a bit to get used to where the watch should be for perfect tracking) is pretty accurate. Everything syncs to S Health properly and quickly. Notifications The big gripe for folks on smartwatches is "too many notifications". That's true - unless you control them. Through the Gear app - I was able to turn off Facebook and Twitter notifications, along with the notifications for email and other non-essential services. I now have my Google app, Samsung Pay, and Weather as the only things pushing notifications to me Battery As I write this, I am at 35% battery remaining. I took the watch off it's charger 2 1/2 days ago. In short, the battery life is amazing. A Fitbit will last the better part of a week, yes, but when compared to the Series 1 Apple Watch that I had before - well, that watch was on the charger each night... All in all - I'd absolutely recommend the Gear S3 to anyone looking for a fashionable, rugged, and downright usable smartwatch. Perhaps this is just what the industry needed to change it's fortunes....

One of the best smartwatch!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family members and friends own other smart watches but none of them I have found stunning. Apple iWatch I call "Barbie watch!", it doesn't look manly enough for a grown up guy.! I bought Samsung Gear S3 non-LTE version on Feb 14th and wanted to test before I write this review, watch is full of really useful features. 1. Watch faces with various embedded features. 2. Fitness features - many many 3. Quick reminders - Love this features (use S-voice, no typing) 4. Altimeter, pressure sensor 5. WhatsApps messages, GMail (you don't have to setup anything!) 6. Weather alert through pressure sensor 7. I never type but use S-Voice 8. You can draw on the watch and the gear S3 watch recognizes letters. 9. Text messages - auto response selections 10. Automatically connect to WiFi, you don't have to setup! 11. Nice DND (don't disturb ), on schedule! 12. Flipboard news 13. Very impressive Stop Watch 14. BATTERY LAST 3 DAYS! 15. Pickup your calls on the watch and call out while driving using S-Voice - real safe driving! 16. If you are not wearing, watch get lock for a good reason! 17. Remote locking system. 18. Amazing music app while I am running! 19. Quick access to music, brightness, airplane mode, etc with single swipe 20. Skeptical at first - Not anymore
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this watch after my EcoDrive watch of 7 years went. I was not crazy about having to charge my watch. I have had it for about a month and it's been great! Goes 3-4 days on a full charge. I have sort of a watch fetish so I love the fact that the bands and face are quickly changed for unique looks. Unlike regular watches this will remind you to stretch or move around. The step counting and other health benefits are truly motivational. All around this is an awesome watch!

Exceeds all expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this watch to replace a different brand of smart watch. I have a Samsung phone so I also wanted something with better compatibility. Right out of the box this watch was amazing. Battery life is incredible, i can go 2-3 days without charfing it depending on use. Operations are lightning fast, and the functionality with my phone is amazing. Running or doing anything active with this watch is what really puts it over the top. I never knew I could enjoy a smartwatch so much.

Beats Apple Watch Hands Down
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus. Right after that my Apple Watch crystal popped up and needed to be repaired or replaced. I researched the S3 and demo'd it in the store. This watch is amazing and is much classier looking than the Apple Watch. The watch goes 3-4 days without requiring a charge. I have dress watches but this will be my every day watch compliment to my phone. You cannot go wrong with this watch especially if you have a Samsung smart phone!

Great looking smartwatch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried various smartwatches including Apple Watch, and fitness bands, but this is the one that has best user interface among all others. Thanks to its clicky wheel around the watch. This also is the best looking smartwatch in my opinion. Best feature is the Samsung Pay; no doubt. It works not only the contactless credit card terminal, but also at the regular mag stripe payment terminals. Only downside at this point is the limited number of useful apps in the store.

Went from Iwatch to this and I will not go back
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay if you are into flashy lights and screens and such in other words just for looks, this might not be for you. BUT! If you are into data about your performance and even your health this IS for you. I purchased this after going from an Iwatch, and going to android in which I had tried the Samsung S3. I wanted to go to android so of course I needed a different watch than my Iwatch, I tried the Samsung and the heart rate and performance was awful, as soon as I would sweat the rating would spaz out. Frustrated I felt that this was the top of the line so it would be my last attempt for a heart rate monitor watch. I bicycle indoors, outdoors both road and mountain and the heart rate monitoring has really helped me gauge myself to see if I am pushing myself. I have already lost 50lbs in doing so, so I was frustrated when none of the other watches worked as they were advertised to. So the heart rate monitor on this is incredible! The feedback through the app gives you a huge insight to your performance. Like I said if you like information this is your watch. We like to explore trails and at times we loose our bearing but this watch has built in trails maps which I have not tried yet but I am sure it will be incredible as well. The screen like I said is not flashy, it will not be the shiny colorful display like your Iwatch but it does look great in the sun when your on your adventures. Indoors it may be dim for some which it was for me but the amount of info and customization pushed the scales in favor of this watch. In so many words my wife that is a diehard Apple person has ditched her Iwatch so Santa can bring her the fenix 5s which is the smaller version of this minus the topography. Great watch for the adventurer!

Overwhelemed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased for me as a gift, so with that expectation understand that I can only review based on my use and not as a "sought out" item. I did research this however as compared to other models for overall integrity purposes. It's a beautiful watch. The construction is excellent. I wear it on my left wrist and I don't find that the buttons on the left press themselves when I bend my wrist. The bezel rotates smoothly and doesn't feel cheap or loose. The touch screen is very responsive as well, and can be set to be even more responsive for those who wear gloves. It has excellent compatibility with my Samsung Note 8 and the Gear app. That's a given of course. There are hundreds of watch faces online. I'm still learning this and working to let the functionality influence my daily activities. I do like that I can take phone calls through it via the Bluetooth connection with the phone (this is NOT the LTE model!). You can even write on the screen to spell out text messages, but it's a bit crude and awkward, and you'll probably used the pre-canned messages (which you can edit). Battery life is okay. I don't use the "Always On" feature and I'm getting around 3 days. The charger is wireless and the watch connects to it magnetically. That said, please note that this CANNOT be used with other wireless chargers. I looked into this, but sadly it's not the case. I have a Samsung wireless charger at work and I cannot use it. There's a possibility you can fry the watch doing so. If the battery gets low and you're worried, the watch will ask you if you want to go into a low power mode. I'm happy with it and it's an amazing piece of tech.

Great watch!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this watch for over a year, and I've been nothing but happy with my purchase. It integrates perfectly with my Samsung phone. Battery life has been good, as I usually get 2 days out of an single charge. The watch has recieved regular updates and has not shown an signs of lag or battery life degradation. I purchased it mainly as an activity tracker, which it does very well. Samsung health has an exhaustive list if exercises you can choose from to track. It does a great job recognizing that you are working out if you forgot to trigger the activity. I love tha it prompts me with a daily briefing of scheduled tasks I have for the day. I also make calls and texts, control spotify, make payments, track my sleeping, and set alarms/timers pretty regularly. There is also an overwhelming number of watch faces you can use, some free and some paid.

My Gear S3 Frontier with iPhone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m somewhat of a techie, but I’ve avoided buying a smartwatch since they were introduced a few years ago. So why did I pull the trigger on a Samsung Gear S3, and why didn’t I buy an Apple Watch for my iPhone? The Gear S3 looks like a luxury-brand watch. A couple of my coworkers actually mistook it for a Breitling, so that’s a big plus! Its fits my 185lb, 5’10”, male wrist perfectly, but it dwarfed my wife’s dainty wrists and looked quite large. How well does this watch work with the iPhone? For me, getting app notifications on the watch is priceless. All notifications displayed on my iPhone are instantly shown on the watch. It’s not possible to reply to text messages through the watch with the iPhone, but that’s not a huge negative for me. For active and healthy-lifestyle users, Gear S3 offers the ability to store music on the watch and has built-in GPS. Now you can jog or workout without bringing your phone along. A negative is the S3 doesn’t share its GPS data from the workout to the iPhone for use in other apps. One of the biggest concerns I had with early smartwatches was the battery life. How does the S3 do? I’ve made it 3 full days without recharging! The watch includes a charging base that you set the watch on, without plugging any cables into the watch. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my S3 and how well it works with the iPhone. I do think Android users would be better able to utilize a few features, but it’s great that the watch can work on both phone platforms. My biggest piece of advice would be to go to your local store to try it on and see what you think.

First smartwatch for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always been a watch guy but mostly analog. Took a bit of time to get used to this. Now that i have I'm liking it alot. So nice to not have to pull my phone out to see emails or texts. My only gripe about it is i wish it was more waterproof than it is. 1.5 meters just isnt enough. Battery life is good, I'm getting almost 3 days worth before it needs charging. Love the different watch faces.

This thing is too big!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this watch. But when I joke, I say that this is a smart clock, not watch. That's how it feels on your wrist. I'm trying to get used to it but all I learned is to press my arm against my stomach to avoid hitting surroundings with the watch especially when I'm outside shopping or riding in the train. But let's say i got used to it. Although I remember seeing the word "military" somewhere in the description, I must say there is nothing sturdy or military in the build of this watch. The rotating bezel is mate of a relatively soft material as I managed to get it scratched by slightly bumping it against the door knob at home on day 4. The reason I bought this watch was the fact I didn't like the apple watch at the time (series 2), and in the description it said it would work with iPhone. Take into consideration that this watch will fully work only with a samsung phone. Mine is an iphone 7 and i don't even have the messaging app enabled on the watch. It will only show up when you connect to a samsung phone. It didn't work with my moto G3 either because there is a 1.5 Gb RAM requirement for the gear app to function. But if it did it would still be limited. With the iphone i get notifications from messages but cannot reply. Also i couldn't find a single GPS application which would work as a simple GPS for guidance. The watch has gps but what's the difference for me if I can't use it? As a "spoiled" apple user where everything "just works" i have many questions regarding this watch. I should also mention that i was led to believe that it had LTE. When i checked the video description on the bby web site the guy said that the frontier has lte. I know it's my mistake that i rushed and ordered it after that but nonetheless the information was such. Recently I descovered that the bottom "glass" doesn't feel like glass at all: you can push it as if were made of packaging plastic . I thought it was firm glass but it's something else. One oher thing about having a completely flat glossy surface touching your skin alongside with a very bulky design is that when you sweat a little the flat glass starts to stick to your wrist like a suction cup (you know, kind of like two pieces of glass stick together when there is water between them). Now i see why apple made the underside of its watch roundish – to avoid this circumstance. But I did not hate this watch enough to return it, as I said earlier, i still like it and hope that many things will be fixed with updates. Not the size obviously, but if it starts to work without hiccups I think I can still disregard the bulkiness of it. Otherwise - apple watch 3. I still believe this watch has the potential to be one of the best if corresponding updates arrive.

Gear S3 Frontier
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a person who never wears a watch, I was very fascinated by the S3 gear and excited to own it. The watch is Bigger, attractive and is very feature-rich than ever. A brilliant smartwatch at fairly good price. I would say the price is little bit on the higher side but definitely worth it. The pairing was very easy and simple. I like the hand writing feature for Text and also enjoy the different watch faces every day. Only complain is that it is slightly on the heavier side for a smartwatch. Battery life is good and sound quality is also good, overall a great watch with lots of features.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -rugged and well made product. -has lasted a long time -great apps available -2 day battery life if you make the screen go off automatically and set it to come on with a button press -works well with my S6 -control music apps while streaming to blutooth speakers without having to get your phone! Cons: -could be more apps and you have to use the Samsung app store -No "OK Google" functionality S voice is completely useless. -rubber like band feels and looks a little cheap compared to the watch itself. -Expensive investment to not have the OK google capability.

Awesome Smart Watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first smartwatch and I bought this to monitor my sleep and exercise. I have been very impressed and satisfied. Great quality especially the battery life. It takes about 2-3 days before I need to charge it. It looks good and pretty durable. I almost think it's scratch resistant after several accidental hits. It also works well with my iphone 7. I love this watch!

Great Watch!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great watch. The media's talk about bulky is overblown just to find something negative. Better than Apple watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the watch for 2 months now, I also have the Apple watch. The battery life is way better. The speaker is louder than the Apple watch. Has more features and you don't need apps to get notifications like whatsapp. The galaxy s3 frontier is much bigger than the Apple watch. The other benefit is the amount of watch skins available to download, it's unbelievable.

Good watch, pleased with purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a go to watch and everything works. There are plenty of customization's and it does all I wanted it to do. The flexibility to use several watch bands styles really helps make the case for it. The size isn't over the top, but certainly was thicker than I was used to. All in all I am glad I purchased this and wear it quite often.
