Needs Update
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Gear Fit 2 for some time and enjoyed it. Since it performed well I didn't really see a need to upgrade to the Gear S3. But, seeing the S3 go on sale I decided to make the switch. At first glance it is a large watch, but I'm ok with large watches. Beyond that it looks great and is very comfortable to wear. I have been enjoying Samsung Pay which was a deciding factor for the S3 over the Sport. Although the Sport offers Pay it only supports NFC, it doesn't generate the mag field that makes the S3 usable in so many other locations. The screen looks great, interfacing with my S8 is great, the only downside is no fitness tracking. What? Yes, this fitness tracking smart watch is only good as a smart watch. That is until Tizen 3.0 gets to it. At this time Tizen 3.0 has been out for about a month, but my device does not see the update. Samsung told me that the roll out is in stages and my device hasn't come up yet, be patient. But, I've heard the update is seriously flawed so the roil out may have been suspended. Samsung would not confirm this. Right now the heart rate monitor only works while I sleep and if I start a run workout, any other workout uses a generic burn to count calories instead of actual heart rate info. This is disappointing as my Fit 2 worked great in this area. I'm considering returning the device if I can't get it to do what I need it to do.

first smart watch, very impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is my first smart watch. i never liked the mini phone look of them, this is the first one that really looks like a real watch. from the pictures i thought it would be a little bigger, maybe too big, but it's not. it's pretty much the exact same size of the luminox i was wearing. overall i'm very happy with the watch and everything it does. notifications come in quick and i can read, respond, delete, and clear all of em. it doesn't work specifically with non stock apps (email, messages, etc), but i can still get and interact with the notifications that come in. i use textra and inbox, both work great. s-voice works pretty well too. i never use voice commands with a phone, but on the watch it's kinda necessary. typing is nearly impossible to do comfortably, but using voice works pretty well. the ui is clean and works well, customizable enough for me. i've browsed just about all the watch faces, and still my favorite is one of the preloaded ones. the always on is handy and doesn't really take that much battery. when u turn it on it says it will "significantly" drain the battery, but it really doesn't. battery charges really quick too, but i guess that's what happens when the battery is so small. the rotating bezel is very handy navigating the menus and stuff, i prefer it to using the screen. for me, the biggest plus is having samsung pay fully incorporated. and by fully, i mean it also supports MST like the S7 does. u do have to add a passcode to watch to use it, but it's not as bad as u may think. i thought the watch would lock when the screen times out, like a phone, and i really didn't want that. but that's not how it works. while wearing the watch, u type in the code one time to unlock, and it remains unlocked as long as you are wearing it. as soon as u take it off, it relocks. amazing, i never expected it to work that way but it works perfectly. display is beautiful too. pretty standard size for bands too, and there's lots of different options. very little i don't like so far, but if i had to pick one thing it'd be how the phone and watch work together when browsing or installing apps. phone app gets really laggy and works really slow. the gear app itself works fine, but it's the Galaxy Apps one that slows down a lot. i guess the other big thing i'd change is the incorporation of third party apps. i'm not sure how many people used stock messaging or email apps, but i never have. better integration with other email, even google's own apps, and other messaging apps would be great. overall i'm very happy with the gear s3 and highly recommend it.

Quit working after a month
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WAtch quit working after a month. My son thought the battery was dead and when it wouldn’t charge we replaced the charger. The watch comes on briefly and then shuts off. Will not buy an open box item again! Total loss of money

Junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My watch only lasted about one year before the battery life dropped off. After that it would malfunction to the point of being useless.

Good smartwatch for an active lifestyle
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is a good smartwatch, especially for one with an active lifestyle. Battery life is great, lasting 2 days before requiring a charge. The smartwatch has 2 buttons and a rotating bezel which allows for easy access to widgets and navigation within the touch screen. The built in speaker works well for hearing calls, provides enough volume as a music player and the built in memory storage means I can store music to listen to at the gym without requiring a phone in my pocket. Built in GPS helps me track distance and height traveled during my hikes. Pairing the smartwatch with a Galaxy S7 is simple and Bluetooth connection is reliable. Being able to use Samsung Pay with the smartwatch is a plus. There are plenty of apps that can be added to the smartwatch through the Samsung Apps market. The heart rate monitor is a bit spotty, working most of the time but usually requires adjustment on the wrist with sweat affecting a good reading. Overall a good smartwatch that feels solid and has a robust app market to suit user needs.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.sold my s2,bought this. This is so inaccurate, it thought every time I Drove I was cycling. I got credit for workouts at my desk. I guess it's great to get your wife off your back, but if you're actually looking to improve health, get the s2

Samsung s3 watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The watch overall is good quality. However I had a terrible experience with bestbuy. I had to do a partail return and they sent the wrong thing and it was delayed. I will not do anymore internet orders with bestbuy.

The Best Smartwatch to date…
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Gear S3 is easy to set up and comes with several great apps to get started which include stopwatch, timer, alarm, altimeter, barometer, calculator, reminders, News Briefing and Samsung Pay. Pros: • Nice, large, easy to read screen. Way more masculine than the Gear S2. • Always on Display makes the watch look real and it will have little effect on battery life • Speakerphone for accepting calls. The calls sound great...just a little odd looking if speaking into the watch. • 1000’s of watch faces to choose from in the app store. • Rotating bezel. The bezel is the best way to see notifications and go through widgets. The bezel also minimizes the need to swipe which in turn reduces fingerprints on screen. • Easy to respond to text messages using voice. • Samsung pay. Load up your credit card info and you can shop and several stores without the need for you credit card. • Step counter works great. • Easy to swap out watch bands. In addition, there are so many watch bands to choose from which makes the watch so versatile. • Transferring media files (music or photos) is super easy. • Battery life is 2 days with heavy use which will be perfect for a weekend getaway…no charger needed. • Easy to use magnetic charger. Cons: • Not many apps available accept watch faces. Yes, there is Yelp, Uber, Trulia, CNN etc but there could be so many more. • S Voice. This app is on all Samsung phones and suffers from lag to get info and is often not accurate when converting voice to text. • Heart rate monitor is not that accurate during workouts. • Sleep monitor is somewhat useless. • The onboard keyboard is a pain to use for responding to emails or text messages. I have had every Samsung smartwatch…yes everyone (Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Gear 2, Gear Live, Gear S, Gear S2 and Gear S3). To be honest, I have tried several smartwatches including Moto 360, Apple Watch, Huawei and even the Asus. All of them have their shortcomings however, the Gear S3 is the best smartwatch to date and I would highly recommend to anyone.

Samsung gear s3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not used a watch for over 10 years but I wanted a fitness Watch to track my everyday workout. I decided to buy the Samsung gear s3 after returning two other fitness tracker. So far I like the watch and it is doing more than what I bought it for. I like the phone option where I can make and receive calls without taking my phone out of my pocket. The gear has great battery life, I am getting over two days on a charge. I don't charge my gear past 90 percent and I am still getting over two days of heavy use. The heart rate monitor works very well. You can take your heart rate manually and the watch also take automatically every hour. I am very happy with my gear S3. Hopefully Samsung will keep on updating the gear software often to make the watch more useful. If you have not bought one, don't hesitate to buy one.

Excellent Smartwatch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Smartwatch as an early Christmas gift. This is my first experience with a Smartwatch and I am impressed. First of all the watch looks beautiful. Its a little thick, but still looks and feels comfortable on my small wrist. Its nice that Samsung includes a 2nd watch strap to accommodate smaller wrists. The build quality of the watch is excellent. Very solid. It paired very easily with my Samsung Note 8 phone. By the way, apparently this watch is now IPhone compatible. If you review videos about the watch one thing that is confusing is that they refer to the Samsung Gear app which Samsung renamed as the Galaxy Wearable app. Once I realized that I found setup very easy. But if this is your first Smartwatch expect a small learning curve. I like the S Health app. I only monitor my steps, heart rate, and sleep, but it does monitor much more if you choose. I like how I can get and respond to text messages and emails, and make and receive phone calls from the watch. One caveat is that I have the non-LTE version which requires that the watch be paired with and be in close proximity to my phone to use all the features. Typing on the watch is a little awkward so I like to respond to messages by using the microphone for voice to text feature. Its been very accurate for me and is much faster than typing. Its nice that I can check the weather, download and play music, and play YouTube videos. The speaker is okay, nothing special. One nice feature is that I could pair it with my Jabra Elite 65t true wireless earbuds. I even found an app that allows me to control my WEMO smart switches. I like how the watch is customizable. with different watch faces, custom ring tones and notifications. To be honest I could go on and on. I really like the watch a lot. One last thing, battery life is pretty good, When setting up the phone I only got 1 day out of the battery, but under normal usage I easily get 2 days and almost 3 days. Overall, "Well done" Samsung. Well worth the money especially at Christmas sale prices. "Thank you" to my co-workers for giving me the watch.
