As someone who thought of a smart watch as a pure luxury purchase and something i never needed, I couldn't be any happier with the watch. It makes using your "phone" on the move even easier and unnecessary to even touch the phone. I can look at and respond to my text, check incoming emails, look up scores through ESPN, operate the music on my phone, make payments with samsung pay and even make phone calls. The speaker on the watch is amazing and makes it so easy to take a call and have a conversation. If you need to be hands free or want to look at something on your phone while having a call the watch is the best way to do that. The speaker is loud, it never has connectivity issues and the other side of the line has no idea your using the watch vs being on the phone (unlike how you can tell when someone uses speaker phone). Also it is very simple (one button) to switch a call from your phone to your watch and vice versa. Another great feature about the watch is S health. I already have S health set up on my phone so that synced right away and its great all the things you can do with the watch. You can keep track of your steps, floors climbed, water drank, coffee drank, and your inactivity time. For anyone who is into fitness this watch is awesome. Samsung pay on the watch is the last feature that had a big impact on my opinion. Once you load the cards on your watch, just like on your phone, you can use them almost anywhere (as long as they have a card swipe function) to pay for stuff. The awesome thing is you dont even need to have your phone to make the purchase, max of 5 in this scenario. The only negative is that the phone app isn't fully synced with the watch and you will need to add cards to the watch even if you already have them on the phone.

I purchased the Gear S2 last year and after a week I returned it. It just seemed to be lacking in certain areas. It was a very expensive accessory. The new S3 has improved enough that I am glad I bought the new one and am keeping it. The added microphone and speaker makes it fun for answering calls and using voice control especially when paired with my Samsung Level U Pro headset. The screen looks great, lots of customization options and navigation with the rotating bezel is why I prefer this over other smartwatches. Some people say it's too big but I love it. Fits my wrist great and is big enough to actually read and see things on. Even watched a couple videos but not for long of course. S Health works pretty well. It told me to get off my lazy butt at one point and start walking and once I did it registered steps right away. Only function that doesn't seem to be very accurate is the Heart Rate Monitor. My BPM has been around 90-100 which is too high. But other than that everything has been working great! Several ways to input text and I've found all of them to be pretty intuitive and fun to use. Battery has been pretty good. used about 20% in about 4 hours with moderate use and playing around on it. I charge my devices every night so it's going to be great on battery life for me. I dont ever need something to last 3 days without ever charging. If you're looking into getting a smartwatch and have a Samsung phone I highly recommend the Gear S3.

    Now a watch person...

I've never been a watch person so I was a little hesitant to try this out. Not really because I don’t like the look of watches….I just never really saw a point. I was aware of smart watches and trackers becoming more and more popular but every time I would look one up I didn’t see enough value to sway me into the watch wearing world. Then the S3 Frontier came along…..I was pretty excited when this watch arrived. So much so that I was actually worried that it wouldn’t live up to the hype I had built up in my head. It definitely exceeded it. My 1st impression as I opened the box was “Wow that’s a good looking watch.” Not just smartwatch…watch. It has such a good look to it, and as I turned it on and began exploring watch faces and learning how to do everything it was just 1 awesome discovery after another. The OS is super easy to use (love the bezel navigation), so I didn’t have to spend much time learning all of that. The only possible knock on this watch that I have found is the weight of it. That may just be due to the fact that I’ve never been a watch person though……I got used to it pretty quickly and don’t even really notice it anymore (except when I’m playing with it haha). I can pretty much guarantee my family, friends and co-workers are sick of me talking it up by now, but hey it’s that awesome. My favorite thing is seeing people’s faces when I pay with my watch!!

    Better than its predecessor

I have been toting around the Gear S2 3g watch for a year now and have really been loving it. When the S3 was announced I was very interested to see what new features it would have. To be honest the one thing that struck my fancy more than anything else with it was the battery. The Gear S2 3g has the mic/speaker so I was able to take calls already. It has GPS in it as well. What it didn't have was a battery that lasted very long. With the 3g version, it had a larger battery than the non 3g watch but it did have an extra radio in it to power, the 3g radio. Even though I never activated or used the 3g part it still took a toll on the battery. It would typically last a day. Some times, if I was very careful I could get 24 hrs but that's it. The Gear s3 has a larger battery in it. So far in my usage, which is pretty heavy, I get around 60-70 hrs out of it. The speaker on it seems louder than the s2 as now when I am driving I can leave my hand on the steering wheel when taking calls and can still hear the other person just fine. Another aspect of the s3 I have really liked is the upgrade in hardware. The processor makes this watch stutter free, which was not the case with the S2. Great improvement on that. The one draw back I have seen with this watch is the band. The band is a silicone band and seems to be more "sticky" than the s2 band. The S2 was also silicone but smoother and more slippery. I don't like to wear watches that are secure tightly to my wrist. I like to be able to have them slide up and down my wrist. With the s2 this worked great, the S3 however needs to be loosened up so much that it will actually fail to recognize that its on my wrist all the time and screen lock (because I have samsung pay activated, I need screen lock). So I do have to wear it slightly tighter than I prefer but this can be fixed with a new band. Speaking of Pay, it is so nice having MST on my wrist now. I shop at many places that don't use NFC so I have always had to pull out my phone to make a payment. Those are now days of old as I have been successfully using my watch at these same terminals with no problems at all. All In all I would say its a great watch with a lot of great features. It blends in nicely with my s7 and it would definitely be missed if I were to lose it. I think Samsung has made a great product and I hope it has many days of flawless operation ahead.

I was really excited to get this watch. I read the reviews and did some research along with some comparison to other smart watches. The LG was the only one that was considered the same if not better than this one. I gave it a three because it seems to me the hype over it is unfounded. You have to play around with it to find the setting, which is a bit limited as to what you can do for sound, and which alarms you want to have on. Another thing I didn't like was that the watch does not turn on every time you turn to look at; if you have it on power save mode. I found this frustrating especially when lying down; it won't turn on to tell the time. Then there is the speaker on it. You have it set up all the way the sound is becomes distorted, and you can't hear the other person who's calling. Finally, there is the S-Health app. I really like it but I don't think the step counter is super accurate; my phone counter and watch were off by about 200 steps, give or take. There some cool features like the alarm to get moving; it'll instruct you on stretching if you want. I like the reminder app, though writing on it is a bit hard, and some practice will be needed. It picks up other phone's Bluetooth signal automatically. You can switch the face of the watch; lots of options. E-mail and text messages show on the watch. Overall, I don't this watch is worth the $300 I paid for it; at lower price yes. that's for now. If I come up with more I'll add it later.

    Best Gear S Yet

The Gear S3 is Samsung's best smartwatch outing so far. It's got a great feel on the arm. The band's connections are updated (one of the many improvements over the S3's solid predecessor the S2), The rotating bezel is back, and super smooth. Probably the biggest improvement over previous Gear watches is the vastly improved battery life. It's great not having to charge the watch every day. I can usually get 3 days on one charge, and even then the battery isn't completely drained. The addition of the altimeter and barometer and GPS coupled with the scratch/dust/water resistance really make this a great outdoors/fitness accessory. A surprising feature I found is even though this watch still runs Tizen, the media player controls on the watch itself work seamlessly with my go-to music app on my Galaxy S7 (Google's Play Music) - a really nice touch. Speaking of cross compatibility, it also works with iPhones. Simply put, this watch is fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into smartwatch ownership or just looking to upgrade their current tech.

I use the notifications more than I thought I would, but do not get if you intend for fitness tracking. Heart Rate monitor is terrible, and does not register if you are moving around at all... in fact it has trouble registering if you're just sitting still. Bluetooth also has conflicts if you're trying to connect wireless headphones to phone rather than watch. If I had it to do over I would spend a little more money for the Garmin.

    So far, so good

I've been trying to purchase the Samsung Gear 3 Frontier since January 2017 but it was not available in the local area. It wasn't available with 250 miles and neither I, nor Best Buy could order it online. The availability and shipping status seemed to change every 15-30 minutes. I was ready to give up on the watch when Samsung discounted the price by $50.00, making it even more desirable. I was finally able to pick one up yesterday (March 5, 2017) . However, Samsung had discontinued their $50.00 discount and raised the price back to $349.00. I suppose it's easy to offer discounts on an item that is not available anywhere. Well played Samsung. As stated, I just got the watch so it's too early to honestly rate it at this time. PROS: 1. Setup and syncing with my Galaxy Note 5 was quick and easy. 2. I am impressed by the availability of different watch faces and apps for this watch. 3. The notifications are almost instantaneous. 4. The crisp, sharp displays are amazing One of the major complaints I had read involved a short battery life. I'm testing that as I type. So far, I've been wearing it for about 5 hours and the battery life is down to about 89%. I like that it monitors my steps and heart rate, although it's too early to determine the accuracy of those features. I have not tried the music or phone features yet. PROS: The only PRO so far is that sudden unannounced price increase by Samsung which I feel makes it over priced. Still after waiting so long, I'll run it through its paces and determine if it's worth keeping. If I'm not impressed with it after a few days, I can always return it.

My SG3 watch is awesome. I find myself wearing it a lot more than my regular watches. It looks just as good as them, I have the rugged one and the beveled bezel looks good. It's easy to use with just a turn of the dial you can take a desired action. I've answered and made phone calls on my watch while on the run without the need of pulling out my phone. The user on the other end can't tell I'm talking through my watch. Answering text's is pretty easy and convenient when your in a meeting and don't want to pull your phone out. There are three options to reply, voice to text, handwriting, and text input. You can set goals for yourself, such as step count, floors walked, and calories as well. It keeps track of all this on it's own and gives you a nice and easy summary to review at the end of day or week if you'd like. I'm really impressed with how easy it is to use. I'd never thought I'd buy one of these but now that I have, I can't imagine not upgrading when the next one comes out.

    Good with IOS

I purchased this watch to replace my four year old $700 Apple Watch. I have an iPhone but my complaints about the Apple Watch was the unattractive square look and poor battery life. I frequently travel and with some trips over 27 hours of plane to plane, my watch was dead by the time I hit Singapore. This watch has lasted 3 days after the initial charge! I am pretty happy with this purchase. First of all, it looks like a watch! Reminds me of some of the Seiko watches I have had. Functionality is fine and notifications work seamlessly. If you like to play games on your watch and you are pairing it to iOS, I would not recommend this as an alternative to an apple warch. I use my watch to read the time, date, weather, and notifications. Outlook and sms notifications are clear and easily readable and there are so many free face designs that I’m sure everyone will find one that matches their style and complications. My only complaint about this watch is the cheap rubber wrist band which is extremely uncomfortable and out of place in comparison to the quality of the watch itself. I was able to buy another one online for $40 that makes this watch very comfortable. My opinion: if you are not a gamer and want a step up from the ugly Apple Watch, this is much more affordable and and has ample functionality for most people.

Actually having played with the Frontier for a few hours I can't wait to own it! Starting with the size - it is comparable to the very high end time pieces I own. Then the quick change straps ranging from Rubber to Leather also excite me. I love a variety. Now to the Tizen OS! Just my opinion after using Android wear for over a year on my Tag Connected I really can't wait to go back to Tizen. It totally works for ME - key word me - so if you like Android Wear don't buy it - but you might want to check it out. Lastly the calling feature on the frontier is incredible - once you get use to it you will feel comfortable leaving your phone behind.

Welcome to the Gear S3! This watch is chock full of features! My favorite has to be that one can answer a phone call on it, and talk to someone on it. Very Dick Tracy! I used to have the Gear 2 and the Gear S2. The S3 is a great combination of both! There are a load of new watch faces to choose from. It has a vibrate feature to let the wearer know when calls and notifications are coming in. It is a lot stronger than the Gear S2. There are only two negative things that I can say about it: 1) there are some watch faces that the S2 has that the S3 doesn't. There was a watch face that had a shortcut on the top of it, and it was very handy. 2) the watch band that comes with it is not very comfortable. It doesn't seem to be too flexible. I placed the band from my old Gear 2 on it, and it feels great! So, yes, I would recommend this to a friend, and it is a great improvement over the S2!

Good, despite the lack of app support

There is allot to say, so I will summarize. The watch is not too heavy, the screen is sharp in all lighting settings, its fast, comes with a few watch faces, the battery life so far has been good (2.5 days without charge). The turn dial on the face is a huge convenience to scroll through apps and notifications, and I am looking forward to using samsung pay. Calls on watch are impressively clear. Now for cons for me, it was a hesitant buy given the lack of app support for tizen. One area is streaming music, you have WiFi and cell but only spotify as the only STANDALONE solution? Wheres pandora or other solutions? By the way, spotify ONLY works standalone if you are a paying customer. The app store is still very limited, Samsung needs to make a push if they are going to stay the course. Apps will limit such great devices, I say the same for my Samsung TV. Apps enable the device, not so much the other way around. So, if Tizen support doesnt get boosted in the next year. These might be my last Tizen enabled products, despite it being a great product. I am hoping the integration with home automation comes along this year as well, that would be great. Oh and final con, is the heavy price tag. Thankfully watch technology is not moving quickly, I would not spend this on a bi-yearly or even 3 year basis.

The screen is very big which made me question if this was gunna look good on my wrist since it was big. But it turns out this isa nice size and very useful. What I also appreciate is the watch can work off your home network and you can use the built in speaker to stream music easily. Don't forget about the rotating bezel, it's so genius and I'm glad Samsung was the first to do this on a smartwatch. They're always innovating and making the greatest products. The downside I do have for this product is the lack of apps available, I see great potential on this device and what it can live up to. Lastly the coolest thing that i've been able to do with the watch is make contactless payments. It always blows the merchant away when I pay with my watch.
