I loved this watch. Had it for 5 years and 7 months before it finally pooped out on me. I use mine mostly for silent alarms. I'm HoH and can't always hear my alarm for work, or phone calls, texts. It works great for tracking my HR all throughout the day. Previously, I was a fitbit wearer. I disliked how my fitbit would only give an option on one messaging app when I use 3 regularly. The find my phone option is wonderful as well. If I could, I'd get the same watch again. Waiting for my Watch 6 to arrive. Hope it's better! Hope it lasts me just as long.

Have been using this for 3 weeks. The first week was the mix of a little bit of confusions and ah-ha moments. Now, I feel quite content with this little one. I am using always-on display and it has about 60% battery remaining on average.

I've had my Sport for over a year. its been a solid watch. I use it mostly for fitness. I like being able to see my messages, notifications and emails on the screen. I get around 3 days of battery life. I dont use it but having offline spotify to listen to your playlist is also cool. Not bad for the price i got it for which was 200 a year ago. Shop around for a good price its a so;id watch.

BEST SMART WATCH ON THE MARKET

    Posted .

I purchased this watch from Best Buy-Hurst, TX, store about 3 weeks ago. I've had an iWatch, a FitBit Charge 2, and a FitBit Versa. The Samsung Sport Gear watch surpasses all three "other brands" in its functions, apps, watch faces, exercise tracker, etc. You have to dig through a bunch of menus on other brands. This watch is such high quality. I do not like the band that comes with the watch; however, I replaced it with a stainless steel one with a magnetic closure. It was less than $10 Prime and is much nicer for a lady like myself. I love that the bezel turns right and left for many different functions. I have finally found a smart watch that does everything and pairs via Bluetooth. I also use My Fitness Pal to track my foods, and it syncs beautifully. I highly recommend this watch and all the fabulous features. I have it paired with my Samsung Note 8 cell phone, and it is awesome.

If you don't own a Samsung phone, forget about it.

Let me get this out of the way first: I really, really wanted to like this watch. It's a gorgeous device. The hardware is top notch....but the user experience is absolutely garbage. I'm on a non-samsung phone and, despite what store associates told me, the watch experience is less than acceptable. I get text and email notifications, but that's it. The email and messages app that comes with the phone is completely inaccessible. When you pair your device, those two apps simply vanish from the app drawer. Being those are among the most important apps in a smart watch, Samsung is clearly just holding your device hostage to force you into buying their phone. It's underhanded. I can reply to texts from the notification window, but the watch holds zero record of the conversation, again, on non-samsung phones. Tried it on the OnePlus 5, pixel 2 and the new lg. And the app store is an even bigger rip off. If you are buying this because of Samsung's boast of "thousands of apps" be warned. Sure, there's a lot of apps, but a large majority of them don't even work....and you have to pay for them with no hope of a refund. When I say they don't work, I mean they don't do anything at all. I've yet to run across a single 3rd party app that doesn't have a very long list of "misleading" or "doesn't work" comments. I've tried several myself and the commenters are right. 90% of the apps are rip off garbage. Here's the kicker: several of these non functional apps are on the editors top pick list. Samsung picked those apps to be among the best and they don't even work.....and Samsung only has like 3 or so devices to support. Garbage. Then there is Svoice which I can't even review because I only ever got it to work once, every other time I would get an error message. Svoice is useless. Honestly my old Fitbit blaze was more reliable than this one....and it's BARELY a smart watch. Limited functionality, holding essential apps hostage for non Samsung phone users and paid apps that do absolutely nothing except take your money. Classic Samsung. Make beautiful hardware and then screw you on the software side. This will be my last Samsung device. Apple holds their devices hostage too, but at least the apps they offer actually work.

    Tizen

Firstly, this review is coming from a non-Samsung phone user (Pixel 2XL) and coming from AndroidWear. The watch is a good looking one. Solid build quality. The rotating bezel is handy. The screen is beautiful. The silicone strap is actually very nice also. Battery life is pretty decent depending upon usage. Everything about the watch is nice. So the amount of 'S' apps you have to install to run this watch is ridiculous if you don't own a Samsung phone. The amount of redundant apps you have to install to get this watch to work is again ridiculous. It doesn't even sync to Google Fit which again you have to install another 3rd party app. Tizen is a perfectly decent OS if you live in the Samsung ecosystem. The weakness is the lack of compatible apps made for Tizen is some to be desired. I would say only ONE of my app from AW was even worked on Tizen. My favorite heart rate/workout monitor didn't work on Tizen. You have two hardware buttons which you can't even map something different too. That said if you live in the Samsung/Tizen ecosystem you probably don't know what you are missing. Coming from AW the lack of apps is noticeable. If you are hardcore gym goer this watch is okay. If you are one of those casual gym person and walks a lot it probably is perfectly fine.

I had a Pebble Time Round that was not holding a charge so bit the bullet and purchased my 3rd smartwatch in 5 years. I own a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, so thought it would be best to get a Samsung smartwatch. So far, not disappointed at all. I didn't like the blue silicone watchband that came with the watch, so bought another one that is much better.

Sports Tracking Is Not For Me

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As a smart watch, yes it looks good and the battery lasts. As a sports tracker, don't get your hopes up. I still have yet to fully track my workouts. I've had to install map my run, since the Samsung Sport has limited workouts. My experience was when you track other you can't edit the activity in Samsung Health. Samsung Health seemingly does not sync to the watch when the correct activity is started on through the phone. The reason I find sports Tracking so bad. Is because I do roller derby and skate a lot. Skating is listed in Samsung Health app but not on the watch. So I can't properly track my activity. Which I have yet to figure out where the synced activity go after Samsung Health log in is achieved. This is common amongst most activity trackers. So I'm truly not surprised. Though through Samsung Health once an activity is logged. There seemingly is no time line and rhyme or reason to how it logs.

After purchasing a Fitbit 3 Charge I was not impressed so purchased this watch to replace it. My husband a Gear S3 and always raves at how much he likes it. I find it very easy to use and the features are more in depth.

great watch but does not work with my pixel phone

HI, this watch is pretty and well made . The salesman at the store failed to mentioned that this watch works its best if you have a Samsung phone. I have a Pixel 2 xl and use my google assistant and all of google music and such all the time. i switched from a Moto 360 2nd gen ( after the last update my watch refused to charge so it is useless) . It only works with gear s app and functions. I had to download multiple apps and plug ins to make this work with my phone and still very limited functions. I wish I knew it was not compatible with my device. The watch is very nice so if you have a Samsung phone it might be prefect.
