    I received defective ones.

    A great sounding soundbar, however, I got two defective ones. The first one I bought worked great for about three days and then suddenly stopped working...the bar registered no power to it. After checking all connections and determined it was defective, I exchanged it for another one. That one only worked for three hours before the bar gave up and showed no power being received...I called Samsung Customer Service...went through all the motions and they finally told me to send it to them for repairs! I simply returned it to Best Buy for a refund.

    My used unit when has no center channel audio when using 5.1(multichannel) sources. Only sound effects and no available firmware updates. Stereo sources sound great over optical, hdmi, and bluetooth. I don't own any samsung tvs (only tcl, Vizio) but it shouldn't behave this way regardless of branding. I was on samsung support hotline for 35 minutes trying to figure out why the center channel didn't work. Got no answers. also the optional sub costs over $200 on it's own and the soundbar should come with additional hdmi inputs. I should note I returned the unit and will wait until I see software updates for the unit, which will need a micro usb otg cable because this unit has a very inconvenient way to update, not app compatible

    It's not expensive but it's not cheap but it sounds kind of low-end and the remote seemed lacking connectability was easy was expecting more then I got

    Trash. Sound drops out whenever it scans for Bluetooth which is every 30 seconds. Blue light flashes, sound drops out. Music sounds awful as it drops out bass response entirely. Wish I read all the forums where people are trying to firmware upgrade these to try to address this issue. Oh and to do a firmware upgrade you have to buy a super hard to find micro USB cable and a flash drive to upload firmware. This is garbage.

    I've had it mounted on the wall for a while still have not yet been able to get it work. Decent price but I have others that set up alot easier

      There are several ways you can connect the soundbar to your TV, so you can customize your movie watching experience. Although they all have their benefits, certain setups provide better sound quality than others.

      HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) lets certain TVs and soundbars transfer audio back and forth using one HDMI cable. In other words, you can use the HDMI port as both an input and audio output. The only downside is that your soundbar is going to take up a port on your TV that would normally connect an external device.

      To set up HDMI ARC, power on your TV and soundbar.
      1. Next, connect one end of an HDMI cable into the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your TV.
      2. Connect the other end into the HDMI OUT (TV-ARC) port on your soundbar.
      3. Next, change the source on your soundbar to the D.IN. setting.
      4. After a few seconds, "TV ARC" will appear on the soundbar's display, and the TV will transfer audio through the soundbar.

      If you are connecting wirelessly to the TV via Bluetooth, please follow these steps:
      1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode. You can also press the SOURCE button on the top panel and then select BT. “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record.
      2) Select the Bluetooth sound mode on your TV (See your TV's user manual for assistance)
      3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar S Series” from the list on the TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list.

      To connect the TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection. Once you have connected your soundbar for the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

    Terrible sound bar. I purchased this for my 130sqft room and it sounded awful. This came with center channel included, I would imagine the dialogue separation to be define. Not the case. To top it off, there's no display screen. There's no way to know exactly what the volume level is at. If you want define hi-def Dialogue in your late night viewing, I recommend you to check out the Roku stream bar. Miles ahead of this.

      To improve your experience, try using Dynamic Range Control (DRC). DRC lets you apply dynamic range control to Dolby Digital tracks. With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced.
      1) Turn off your Soundbar.
      2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display.
      3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

      You can also try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND, MUSIC, or ADAPTIVE.

      Thank you for your review of this Samsung HW-S50A Soundbar System. I’m sorry to hear that your out-of-box experience has initially fallen short of your expectations. Your experience will be shared with our product teams. If available, we recommend using the HDMI connection to your TV. Connecting your soundbar to a TV through HDMI will give you the best audio because HDMI cables transmit sound digitally.

      If connected via Bluetooth to the TV and the soundbar is dropping out intermittently there are a few things to check before performing any troubleshooting:
      1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft.
      2) If there is a wall between the sound bar and the subwoofer it may cause interference or not work at all depending on the material in the wall.
      3) If there is a device that uses the same wireless frequency (5.8 GHz) near the Soundbar, interference may cause some sound interruption.
      4) Check all the sources on the soundbar. If the audio is dropping while watching TV it could be an issue with the broadcast.
      5) Also, please be sure you have the latest firmware update featuring improved Bluetooth connectivity. You can update your firmware by using a USB device. You can find the update on the product page of your HW-S50A on the Samsung website.

    This may be user error and it more than likely is however, I could not get the audio to sync properly with my television right away and when I did I could not get it to work with the controller that it came with.

    Sound kept skipping every 30 seconds. I changed to a brand new HDMI cable same issue I even tried a optical cable. Wouldn’t recommend this product.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-S50A soundbar and for sharing your review. I’m sorry to hear that your out-of-box experience has initially fallen short of your expectations. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try that may help resolve the skipping issue you are experiencing.

      First, try updating to the latest Firmware version (v.1508.0). Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. When an update is available, you can update the Soundbar by connecting the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the Micro USB port of the Soundbar.

      1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper right corner.
      2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
      2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
      3. Save the downloaded software to a USB memory stick and select “Extract Here” to unzip the folder.
      4. Turn on the Soundbar and connect the USB memory stick containing the software update to the female port on a Micro USB adapter cable (not supplied). Connect the cable to the USB port on the Soundbar.
      5. Plug USB into Soundbar and switch to USB source, the software will update automatically and will complete update within 2 minutes. During the update process, the 5 LEDs will start flashing in a loop, and then the 5 LEDs will all be bright white, and then the 5 LEDs will flash in a loop again. When the update is complete, the cyan indicator blinks 3 times, and the soundbar automatically restarts.

      If LED sequence flashing is not displayed:
      1. Turn off the Soundbar, disconnect and then reconnect the USB storage device that contains the update files to the Soundbar’s USB port.
      2. Disconnect the Soundbar’s power cord, reconnect it, and then turn on the Soundbar.

      If the issue is still occurring, try resetting the soundbar. With the Soundbar on, press the + and - (Volume) buttons on the body at the same time for at least 5 seconds. The LED display changes and then the Soundbar is reset.

    Some of the time sound does not come on until I unplug and plug back in. Remote works part of the time despite new batteries! I expect to return and possibly demand another brand. Will not recommend.

      Thank you for purchasing the HW-S50A and for sharing your experience with the sound and remote. Please try connecting the soundbar via HDMI ARC. Connecting your soundbar to a TV through HDMI will give you the best audio because HDMI cables transmit sound digitally. ARC is the way to go if you want great sound from streaming apps on your TV and a soundbar.

      To set up HDMI ARC, power on your TV and soundbar.
      1. Next, connect one end of an HDMI cable into the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your TV.
      2. Connect the other end into the HDMI OUT (TV-ARC) port on your soundbar.
      3. Next, change the source on your soundbar to the D.IN. setting.

      Regarding issues with your soundbar’s remote. First, you may want to replace your batteries in the remote. Also, be sure that the distance between the remote and soundbar main unit is not too far. You can also adjust the Soundbar volume using the TV’s remote control. This function can be used with IR remote controls only. Bluetooth remote controls (remote controls that require pairing) are not supported. Set the TV speaker to External Speaker to use this function.

      1) Turn Off the Soundbar.
      2) Push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “Samsung-TV Remote” (Default mode), “Off-TV Remote”, “All-TV Remote”. The LED indicator status changes each time the mode is changed.

    Great Speaker

    Sound quality is great for movies, but even better we can use it as a regular bluetooth speaker as well. I wanted a low profile speaker for the living room that did not have a subwoofer and this is a great fit. It is a little bigger than what I wanted, but the price and quality fit the bill.

    The volume button broke. Only 1 year warranty. Thats pathetic. You make junk products that break from simply being used, then only fix them for up to a year. Makes 0 sense. Will not be messing with samsung anymore.

    Great for small rooms

    This Samsung HW-S60A soundbar is smaller than other soundbars and features more speakers than a typical soundbar. When viewing TV or movies, there are 3 channels, including a dedicated center speaker for voices. This soundbar is ideal for what I require for the space in my workout room. This is ideal for tiny living rooms and rooms. The base is adequate but not explosive; the bass will be considerably more prominent depending on the music. The specifics of this soundbar are that I can hear more instruments in music as well as outside noises when viewing movies. This is owing to the additional images and sound provided by the five channels.

    Small soundbar, great sound. The sound stage is fantastic. Pro Tip if you have a Roku stick make sure you activate Dolby and DTS.
