I got this computer thinking this is the answer to all my prayers! I was wrong... this computer ha a processor error and crashed every few minutes. I thought "this must just be a fluke! There's no way this would happen to me if I exchanged it for the same one". Again I was totally wrong! The second time I got this computer, brand new mind you, it had the same problem right after I booted it up and finished setting it up. I was devastated! I thought I had done something wrong! I took it back! Thank God for Connor working in computers! He spent so much time with me helping me make the right decision for me! I wound up returning it completely and going with a different brand. I cannot thank Connor enough for his help and recommendation!

My laptop built-in camera and mic are defective. Computer doesn’t see either. I have tried drivers and this and that. I work in IT so I am fairly knowledgable. I am working from home right now like most of the world. Since stores are closed, Best Buy’s solutions are send it back or buy a new one. Neither are good solutions currently for me. Yes, I understand we are in a trying time. But I won’t be buying another Samsung anything and I encourage everyone else to avoid them.

    Samsung - Notebook 7

Read the reviews online first, and this laptop had good reviews (4.5 over all when I checked). I took it home and it was easy to set up. Its is fast, light weight, easy to use, great picture, love the touchscreen, 13.3 screen is the perfect size for my needs, and it is a laptop and a tablet all in one. So far it is a great product, hope it last like my Samsung TV's have. You can also add a SSD drive to this model which I haven't done yet.

Purchased for 15 year old daughter on sale for Christmas... She loves it! The design and display are excellent, touchscreen works great. Super easy to use and blazingly fast! We totally underestimated Samsung! Only downsides are the sound (not great) and that it's heavier/bulkier than other models, probably due to having the hard drive instead of solid state. However, the benefits far outweigh the negatives!

    Don't believe the battery hype

It was between this and the Spectre 360 i7 8GB for me. I also considered a MacBook Pro for one hot minute (price is 3x the cost of this for similar computing power). After 3 days, here are my observations. 1. Keyboard - If you learned to type circa 1995 on a keyboard as hard as a rock like I did, you are likely also a violent typist. I need a recessed keyboard for wrist comfort, a lot of key resistance, and as much key travel as possible (Spin 7 is 1.35mm; Spectre is 1.3mm; MacBook Pro is 0.5mm). If you tend to fat finger keys, there is enough space between these that error rate is low. A lot of people prefer the Spectre's more sensitive and quieter keyboard, but that's not for me. 2. Battery - Gracious, I've never heard so many people complain about a battery before! All of the settings that suck the battery juice are maxed out when you receive this computer to show off its performance. If you fiddle with the Intel Graphics Settings, perform basic Windows 10 alterations for power (ex: turn off background refresh and auto-update for apps), and keep the keyboard backlight off when you don't need it, you jump from a puny 3 hour battery life to 7.5 hours (without the battery saver on). Spectre is widely reported at 9 hours; MacBook at 10 hours. A little longer would be convenient, but it's still acceptable. 3. Processor/RAM - Unless you're a gamer worried about framerates or doing some hardcore video editing, an i7 is a waste of money. i5 processors are only a couple of seconds behind i7s for normal, everyday function--sometimes, they're equal. The 12GB RAM is even a little much unless you like to have 10 programs open at once. Anyway, I ran dxdiag on this laptop and clocked a 2.7 GHz processor speed. (I'm not sure if this is actually means anything, but it looks important.) 4. Durability - This is not an aluminum skin, it's plastic. For people that like to drop their computers off buildings like me, this is risky. However, I heard a dirty rumor that Spectre screens break easily. I have frequently tossed my MacBook across a room--not in anger or anything, I just don't even think twice about heaving it at the laundry basket when I'm done with it and if I miss ... oh well! I have even dropped it onto a tile floor in the kitchen, knocked it down a flight of stairs, and once my dog surfed across the hardwood floors on it. That sucker is hardly even scratched on the corners--no dents! I feel like I could accidentally run over it with a car and it would just pop my tire. Anyway, I don't get that impression from the Spin 7. It's solid and doesn't make any annoying plastic rattles when I shake it or bang on it--yes, I just did--but it's like driving a car made out of metal vs. plastic. You can just *feel* the difference. 5. Misc - *Yes, the power button sticks out on the side a half millimeter or something, but after smacking it twice the average human brain begins to auto-avoid. *The speakers are on the bottom and only work well on hard surfaces--no soft carpets or beds or anything. *There's are (2) USB 2.0, (1) USB 3.0, (1) USBC, (1) full-sized HDMI, and (1) micro-SD slots. *Comes pre-loaded with a couple game apps, including the Minecraft app. *The charge cable is like 8 ft. long. The charger itself is Longwell LS-18 125V (turbo charger?)

So I use(d) this laptop for work, gentle use, and 21 months after purchasing it, the hard drive fails. I'm not sure if I got a lemon or what but I expected it to last longer than 21 months. Still trying to decide if I'm going to get a new hard drive or get a new laptop.

Not Too Bad, But a Couple of Quirks

    Posted .

Highs: lots of factory installed memory, BIG hard drive, upgradeable to an SSD. Touchscreen, tablet mode, and backlit keyboard. Lows: weight (there are lighter laptops out there), battery capacity is so-so, some quirks with hardware. At $799 this is an expensive machine. But...it is a solid machine. If you're using this more in the office than on the road, you'll be happy. Even on the road it's good, but true road warriors will want something lighter and even faster. Bottomline: If you like this machine, wait until it goes on sale. You'll feel a lot better about your purchase down the road. REVIEW: Pretty good laptop if you can catch it on sale. With BB Rewards and a student discount, I got it well under $600. Two strange things about this laptop: the backlit keyboard is...finicky. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't. A restart sometimes does this trick, sometimes, not. I updated Samsung's own custom control panel and that helped...a little. There's a "Keyboard Backlit" (seriously, that's how they spell it) button in Samsung's Settings. And BTW, to get to those custom settings, hold down the Fn button and hit F1. Surprise! Another quirk: missing battery icon in the taskbar tray. The fix: Hold down the "Windows" key and Hit "X". That'll take you t o a menu where you can find device manager. In device manager, go to battery and uninstall two things: Microsoft AC adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. Once done, go to the action menu in device manager and select Scan for Hardware changes. Windows will "re-create" the files you just deleted. If you don't see the icon immediately, try a restart. As a laptop, good size. A little heavy in a bag and if you're a daily rail or bus commuter and you have a lot of walking, you're probably going to grow to hate the weight. Surprisingly functional as a tablet. I was in the field yesterday and put this in tablet mode- worked well for what we needed including the touchscreen. And strange as it may sound, the more you use this laptop, the better it seems to get.

First, the purchase: Bought item from Bestbuy. After about 5 minutes the screen went blank. DOA. Back to store. They did not have another. Found one at another store nearby. They setup a pickup for me and I picked it up. Now the product: Compared the Notebook 7 against HP Pavilion. Both had the same $699 price. Two main differences. Samsung has 1tb hard drive, HP has 128 solid state drive. Samsung has 12gb of memory, HP has only 8gb. I chose the memory and greater drive size over the drive speed. Brought it home, turned it on and it worked perfectly. The only problem I have with it is battery life. Supposed to be 8 to 9 hours, it appears to be more like 5 hours. Because battery life on a laptop, or tablet, is important, I give it only 4 stars. I would recommend it to a friend, however I would point out the deficiency. I also have to note, battery life seems to be a problem in many other 2 in 1's.

Bought this laptop for the size and specs after my old one broke. I spent alot of time looking at other more expensive machines, but the price if this was hard to pass up. It is a little heavier than the other new models, but I don't notice it. The size is great as a laptop or tablet. The speakers are great and everything runs really well and fast. I have enjoyed playing with it and works great for my school work and note taking. Gets good battery life as well.

There weren't a lot of reviews on the computer but I decided to buy it anyways. I'm just an average college student so 12GB ram is pretty good. The charging cord is only like 8feet long which feels really short. The battery dies quickly and the camera isn't the best. Other then that the computer is portable and is a good out of box computer.
