Sweet robot vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vac is simply amazing! Setup was super easy (surprisingly!) and pretty much is plug and play. Obviously there's a bit more to it to manually run it and to setup the schedule the way you want it to run automatically, but outside of that it's pretty much plug it in and hit play. From there, the bot does the rest! In terms of coverage and learning the room the bot was able to clean the whole first floor of my condo with no issues the next morning after letting it fully charge before using it. I have tile and hard wood floors with rugs on the floors. The bot didn't seem to have issues with the large rugs and runners that had good gripping but any smaller ones that don't have good grip, it did manage to push a little. I would say that's more of an issue with the rug and not the bot but it's worth thinking about what's on the floor that it's going to vacuum and making sure it's not going to get caught up on it. I will say that when using this it's super important to make sure objects like toys (dog toys in my case), any charging cords from phones, and similar loose items are picked up when I know it's scheduled to run and to make sure the pantry door is closed so it doesn't go in there and get lost. The cool part is there are boundary strips that you can put down that let the bot know about places you do not want it to go or objects you don't want it to "bump" into. When i say bump, I didn't notice it hitting things hard but because the wheels grip pretty good that it can move/slide smaller or lighter things for example a small houseplant that's on a wheeled base that's not locked or a lightweight slim vase. Again, these are just things to keep in mind to make sure are in a spot where it can't get easily knocked over or broken by sliding. Again, I have yet to observe it hitting or bumping anything hard enough to damage it but it may push on it firmly enough to move it if it is small/light. So, the most important thing to me was it's ability to clean and not get lost!! It definitely lives up to having good suction and cleaning power and is pretty impressive in that regard - it even has settings so you can adjust the level and is smart enough to detect the level needed based on floor type (hardwood vs carpet/rugs for example). Since receiving it, it has yet to get lost cleaning a 1000 sq ft area and when it's battery runs low it simply returns and then goes back at it. Again, pretty impressed with the cleaning ability overall. As for the App and WiFi connectivity.. pretty cool and it makes it easier to program the bot but outside of that it does essentially what the remote does and makes it easier to update software on the bot automatically. Don't get confused on which App to download as there are many Samsung apps.. the one you are after is the Samsung "Smart Home" app. The app though did seem to lose connectivity to the bot quite a bit so using it for manual control did not seem logical to me and was a bit clunky to use. The included IR remote is nice to have thing but not necessary to use it outside of spot cleans, manual cleans, and programming the schedule. There is a bit of a learning curve using it to manually clean with the bot and it requires waaaaaaayyyy too much effort to steer and drive it so it's a bunch easier to just grab a normal vac and quickly use it instead. Samsung should have considered a remote a small joystick like what's on a game controller to do that like a remote controlled car is controlled -- same for the control in the app, the way it's designed is just way too clunky to use in a practical way and is just way to much effort to learn/use. Anyway I'm very disappointed with that particular feature but it works if you do want to use it. Last, the only other thing I would say is the charging base definitely needs to be flush against a wall and nothing too close to either side of it (it says this in the manual too!!) and on a carpeted floor if possible. Reason I say that is Samsung should have made it heavier!! Mine is flush against a wall but is on a hardwood floor and two times now the bot has cleaned nearby it and when driving past it knocked it away from the wall thus making it a bit more difficult to come back to it to dock for charging. In one case it knocked it far enough from the wall and turned it enough that it couldn't come back to it so I had to intervene. This might not be an issue for everyone but is something to keep an eye on so you can make sure the dock is in in a good area as stated in the manual and is secured enough so that's not an issue. The manual said something about not charging on dark floors and the bot having trouble with spot cleaning dark floors or finding edges, which so far has made no sense to me because I've not noticed any issues from that. So that's something to also keep in mind if your floors/walls are extremely dark colors or are black and if you notice certain problems. Overall, this is a good product and while it won't fully replace a thorough vacuuming manually it will keep your hardwood/tile and even carpet floors looking good and clear of debris/dirt. So it's one I'd recommend to save time while keeping your floors clean so the manual more thorough cleaning jobs don't need to be done nearly as frequent!

It works for me... literally
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung Powerbot R7070 Too busy to do sweeping around the house? This might be just the drone you are looking for. It has wifi, bluetooth and it works with Alexa… or does it. There’s app for it (SmartHome for iOS and Android) that you can use to program a cleaning time schedule. No smart device? Well, it also comes with a remote. I use it to pin point areas that were missed. Yes, It will miss spots here and there. Remote is line of sight meaning you have to point the remote directly at the unit. It has rugged rubber wheels that lets it go up and down area rugs, uneven floors with ease. It can maneuver its way in and out of chairs and table legs. It even tried going up the base of a pedestal fan. It comes with a magnetic tape for creating boundaries. For instance, you can block out stairways or anywhere that you don’t want the powerbot to go. It also has sensors to avoid obstacles and for the most part, it works. I hear it bumping into things here and there. The self cleaning brush is more like a squeegee, not bristles. Intelligent power control automatically detects surface types to optimize the suction power. It turns up the suction power when it is on a rug. Lives up to 90 minute cleaning time, give or take a couple minutes. When it does run out of battery, it will return to its base, the charging unit. However, if you start it away from its base, it will return to that same spot when it runs out of battery. Then, after 15 minutes or so, it will try to return to the charging unit to charge. The only thing that didn't impress me was its method of sweeping where it was just going anywhere and everywhere. No method or a mapped out plan. That's why I gave it a four star. Other than that, it does what it was meant to do, which is to sweep floors and vacuum rugs. Check out the video I made showing some of its features. https://youtu.be/nXbxsP-R_-k

Returned- very disappointed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I have a Neato Connected Botvac that does a fantastic job cleaning but is a little rough on the furniture. I heard the Samsung was better at not bumping into walls and furniture so I purchased the Samsung to compare the two vacs. The Samsung stayed about an inch from the furniture. That isn’t good. The dirt is there also. Then the “brush” is hard plastic and was really slapping at the floors. It would cause damage in no time. I thought I would buy a different brush but there isn’t one available. In fact I cannot find any replacement parts. Not good, this is expensive and parts wear out. After I ran the Samsung I was surprised how little dirt it picked up. I really wanted to love this but for the money, it should clean better and have replacement brushes. Neato has both.

First Vac not impressed...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first robot Vacuum, it does not seem to scan the room like a thought it was suppose to... does clean under the kitchen cabinets (too tall?!?). I do like have a remote and it does take care of the stuff under the couch. I’ve only had for a couple of weeks. Will see

Great, nearly effortless clean
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This robot vacuum provides an excellent clean in a stylish package. Its ease of use and quality clean would be a welcome addition in nearly any house hold. Pros: Cleaning quality - As this is the first robo vacuum I have used, I was skeptical of the level of cleaning it would provide. It didn't take long before that skepticism was sucked away as quickly as the dirt on my floors. The square front, rubber brush, and very intelligent mapping system provided an excellent clean for the areas it was able to reach (more on that below). The ability to increase suction power automatically during a transition to carpet from hard floors is also a very nice touch. Finally, the easy access dust bin and washable filter are a welcome addition to help reduce downtime. Ease of use - I can't stress enough how easy it is to use this vacuum. Once you set up the base station in the proper location and charge it, you can have your vacuum automatically cleaning in as little as 1 press of a button. The app itself is a nice touch (with minor limitations below) and you can even use the included remote to manually guide the vacuum if you would like. Also, for the tech junkies: this vacuum works very well with IFTTT. I had zero issues setting up a recipe to voice control through my Google Home. Cons: Obstacles - In order to get the best use of this vacuum, you should really put in a bit of effort to clear obstacles from its path. It is a bit on the large side so I always put my dining room chairs on the table and pick up the lighter floor mats that can bunch up/ be pushed around. There also may be some areas that the vacuum simply can’t reach due to size or shape. In that case you will still need, at minimum, a small hand vac to finish the job. You can also use the included magnetic strips to block off a full area, but I haven't found that necessary. While making preparations for the vacuum is a minor annoyance, it is a no brainer of a tradeoff for the convenience it provides. App – I was unable to get the coverage map to work in the app. This was disappointing as it was the one thing I was looking forward to most about the app. In fairness, this could easily be operator error which is why it was not enough for me to deduct a star. Overall this is an excellent vacuum. While it may not be the only vacuum you ever need and is slightly on the pricy side, I can’t imagine a better option in the market than this.

Do NOT buy
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello, please save yourself a headache. Purchased this vacuum and after 4 weeks the machine stopped working. Getting technical support was a waste of time; I was disconnected a few times and no call back (why to they ask for my number if they are not going to call me) taking HOURS to get support. I shipped it to be repaired and received a dead vacuum back. Very disappointing.

Very Nice Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't have high expectations for this vacuum cleaner and I actually thought about returning it before it was delivered to my house. After I tried it, though, I decided that it is a good vacuum. However, it definitely isn't a necessary household tool. It cleans well, it responds to the commands of the remote control well, it is easy to clean, and it is easy to charge. I have another vacuum cleaner that cleans just as well but is a regular push vacuum cleaner. I do like that all I need is a remote control and that this vacuum cleaner can get into almost any spot. I especially like how easily it cleans under beds. Vacuuming all the way underneath beds is almost impossible with a regular vacuum cleaner unless you move the beds. This vacuum cleaner makes this no longer a problem. You also can use the remote control to move the vacuum cleaner or you can just let it clean the room by itself until the battery runs out. It recognizes where the charger is and you can push a button on the remote control to tell it to go back to the charger and put itself on the charger, which is great. You can also set it up for auto-clean if you want. Additionally, it saves time while cleaning because I can clean something else in the room or a nearby room while it is vacuuming if I let it vacuum by itself without directing its movements. It recognizes furniture, walls, and corners so it rarely runs into anything. It also recognizes when it is on carpet. Overall, a very nice vacuum but again it is not really a necessity. I will continue to use it as my main vacuum cleaner, though. So I recommend it if you are looking for something to make vacuuming easier and are willing to spend the money for a vacuum that can move by itself.

Bad product design, bottom kept coming off
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vacuum bottom kept coming off and the brush would fall out but vacuum would kept going, collecting nothing. Also unit would get caught up on throw rugs in the house. Took it back for a refund and bought another brand.

Good Robo Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this was a good robo-vacuum, better than a two year old Bissell I have. They keep getting better. It's not just new features, but the vacuuming is better. I have yet to see a robo-vaccuum as good as an upright, but on the highest setting, this one cleans pretty well. Pluses- - The remote allows you operate the device directly in the direction you want. - Good cleaning options and you can set by time - Went out and cleaned rooms fine and found its way back with no problems. - The remote lets you control everything, so you don’t have to bend down to work it. - Vacuum power is great on highest setting on carpeted floors. - Battery life was fine, cleaned two large rooms with plenty to spare. - Easy to swap out the dirt bin, comes with an extra filter. Con- The app, didn’t use it. Why? - Wants to access my contacts? Why? - Wants to make and manage phones calls? No. - Access to files and photos. Okay, standard I guess - Wants my location? It’s in my house, GPS is not needed. If you want to use the app, you have to agree to all four. No thanks.
