This Samsung robotic vacuum overcame all of my low expectations immediately. I surely anticipated much less suction but this is a heavy unit with a great battery and the suction is much better than I could have expected. And there is very little setup involved - it is practically plug-and-go. But the biggest surprise was its intelligence. I had never thought about how these devices navigate but have now realized that a combination of mapping and memory would not be useful in situations where, for example, a chair might be moved by an inch between vacuums. Instead, this unit appears to re-navigate from scratch during each cycle and it does it very well - it knows how to explore and knows how to extract itself from little robot traps (my house is a mess!). The navigation mechanism also allows it to clean all consecutive rooms that aren't closed-off (it's not tied to a single room - it wanders all over the house). The collection chamber isn't huge but is sufficient for my house assuming the vacuum gets to clean every day or two. It's certainly heavy and feels well-made - and it's attractive but I have it set to run when I'm out of the house so beauty isn't as important as the fact that it's a beast. Also: it comes with a simple remote that allows you to change cleaning modes and to start/stop/charge the unit or program it to clean at specified times.

I tore into the Samsung POWERbot box when it arrived the other day and I used the Quick Start Guide to immediately set up the POWERbot docking station and charged the unit. I thought it would be more difficult to do as the directions seemed very specific on where the unit and docking station should be placed and how the cord should go. Luckily, I had no problem getting it to work. While it charged, I moved anything on the ground, including chairs, shoes, dog toys, etc., and I read the first 20 pages in the user manual. Kudos for a book with large font, lots of graphics, and a good use of bold type. Once it was fully charged (it didn’t take very long), I cleaned four rooms on the ground floor of my house using the auto clean command. I was fascinated and followed the POWERbot around the house. I was surprised by how much it picked up when I cleaned out the dustbin and filter. I was thankful with how effortless it was to clean the vacuum. It is sleek looking, even after being used multiple times, and the exterior seems very durable, so I don’t mind it sitting out in a room and not putting it away. The next day, I used it to clean the only carpet in the house, which is on the second floor. I was amazed at how it avoided falling down the stairs. There is a boundary marker you can attach to prevent the POWERbot from areas of flammable substances or moisture, a high threshold, and stairs. It did a great job picking up the massively large dust bunnies under my bed. It actually motivated me to do some additional mop dusting when I saw how much was in the dustbin. Here are some of the things I recently learned that I thought to share with potential owners: 1. The remote is very helpful to choose the cleaning mode, suction power and additional functions (see p.19) as the display panel has icons and you don’t know which to push. To understand the grid, you need to know which remote you have (A, B, C) on page 18. 2. Use the remote to schedule an auto clean so when you come home after long day, the floors have been vacuumed and the POWERbot is back at the docking station. 3. Spot clean is great for highly trafficked areas or when you spill something on the kitchen floor. 4. Auto clean will clean an area just once, then move onto the next room. 5. Use Smart clean when you have a room with hardwood floors and a rug as it will automatically use more suction on the rug. 6. Select energy-saving mode while you are away from home for an extended period. 7. Select to clean in Quiet mode when using it while watching TV. I took several days before I set up the Smart Home app on my phone. I read the information on page 28-29 about setting up the router and the special notes. I didn’t have high hopes that this would be simple as I have a secure connection that requires a password. I downloaded the app on my Samsung phone. It has a low user rating (2.8). I then followed the steps on page 30. I was pleasantly surprised with the process went quite easily and I got the notification that the setup was successful. Though it is set up on my phone, I haven’t used my phone to control or run the POWERbot. I feel that any good review should also include the downside of a product. We have a dog that leaves white hair embedded in the carpet/rug. The POWERbot does an average job of picking it up. I do want to experiment with the different suction power to see if there is a difference in future uses. Additionally, there is a lot to know in order to efficiently and effectively use this highly sophisticated electronic appliance and I would encourage anyone who is considering purchasing it that s/he be committed to spending some time with the user manual before using it and then going forward. Each time I use it, I reread sections of the user manual to learn or relearn valuable information. There are still many functions I have not used yet, but look forward to figuring out, including manual clean and setting a one time or daily schedule. The price tag of the POWERbot is a bit high for me for a spontaneous purchase, and if I didn’t get this for free to review, I don’t know that I would have bought it for myself. But as someone who values her time, lives in a household that has carpets/floors that get a lot of use, and detests vacuuming, I would be tempted to consider purchasing a robot vacuum. When I make a high price tag purchase, I spend considerable time researching the different models before making the final purchase. Though I have never used another robot vacuum model and I have nothing to compare it to. Though I am rating this product a 4/5 due to the high price and the lack of comparative knowledge on my part, I feel very confident in saying that anyone purchasing the POWERbot would be very pleased with their decision.

Making cleaning less of a chore

My Testimonials as part of the Insiders Program POWERbot R7070 Pet Robot Vacuum DJ Robot 2018-10-29 16:23:18 Like all Samsung products the set-up was very easy. I loved that the innovative protective packaging around the product. If you order online (even with drops and bumps in transit) you can be assured your vacuum is well protected. Once I removed all the covering and set-up it up it took about an hour and a 1/2 to fully charge the first time. The first thing I tried was just the basic start button. I have a long haired dog and daughters and it seems to do a great job sucking the loose hair up. The dust bin is very small and the hair seems to quickly fill the intake opening. (I am not sure how well it continues to vacuum up dirt and hair once it seems to be puffed in front of the hole.) There seems to be no set pattern as how it vacuums a space. I would have expected a more go to the far wall and vacuum back forth in straight lines making adjustments for blocked pathways. Instead it seems to be a bit more random and kind of wanders the room. I watched it go to one wall on several run troughs and watch it continually miss a piece of leaf near a wall edge. it doesn't seem to go to the edge and create a straight line to vacuum back and forth. The sensors are great in avoiding objects but I find it a bit too sensitive stopping 1 to 2 inches from the edges of things and then bypasses cleaning the edges. It is great at getting out of snug places it vacuums. It vacuumed up under our recliner going as far under the back as it could squeeze and then wiggled its way out quite efficiently. The vacuum a spot feature is nice though I had to pick it up and carry it to where I wanted it to vacuum, which is kind awkward. It did get stuck in my bedroom in a narrow path beside my bed where I felt it should have been able to adjust. It turned left into my dogs crate and continued to try to go straight. I cannot see that it has the ability to back up. It turns right or left and goes forward. I then used the remote to clean the area. I did not like that I couldn't direct it to back up, only turn right, left or go forward. I also was frustrated that the turns were huge when adjusting right or left. I wanted to inch it slightly and re-vacuum when edging around furniture. If you have large open rooms without a lot furniture or items flush with the floor I think this would be a great vacuum. Especially on hard surfaces. I will continue to try out more of the Wi-Fi features and look at mapping a room. Right now I think it's a good backup but wouldn't replace my push vacuum. One of the worst purchases I’ve ever done here. Never again, it was recommended by an employee but it was a complete disaster, waste of my time and money. It doesn’t clean well, the cleaning is disorganized, battery won’t last long, sound is super loud, and after a few uses it started to sound like an old locomotive.

Pros: This vacuum has great suction and cleaning power! It gets the fine dust much better than other robot vacuums I've had. The remote is very helpful and the app let's you schedule cleanings. The cleaning power is truly the best feature which is why the rating is 4 stars. The brush does stay pretty clean and it moves debris inwards as advertised. Cons: the dust bin is small when it comes to pet hair and it needs to be emptied a few times each cleaning. The battery seems to die quicker than other robots we've tried. The mapping sometimes gets lost and the robot wanders about at times. The robot overall gets pretty dusty, again due to the small bin and clogging of dog hair. The app is more cumbersome than other native vacuum apps from other companies... In fact I have yet to figure out how to view the cleaning map. Lastly, every time I go to empty the bin, a small pile of dust falls on the floor....guess it's time to vacuum again after a lengthy charge.

Given the advertised features on this robo vacuum (not to mention the price tag), I was really hoping to be wowed by it. There are definitely pluses but also some negatives. First off, it does clean well when the surface is flat and there are no objects impeding it. I've had cheaper robo vacs that either went right over dirt and didn't suck it up or even kicked it out of the way! This Samsung did clean up, and of course that's the main thing! I had several issues with it though. For one, as mentioned above, the vacuum works well if it is on a level surface. But I have a minor dip in the floor between my living room and kitchen (from carpet to hard floor). The vacuum is able to go into the kitchen, but it then thinks there's an edge when it tries to get back out of the kitchen and gets stuck. This means I can't leave the vacuum to run while I'm gone because it'll never make it back to the charging station. I've had similar issues with a rug in my family room. Sometimes it gets over that ok, other times it gets stuck there as well. Additionally, it is louder than other robo vacs I've had. Although the suction (as promised by Samsung) is better, so I'd say it's a fair trade off. Overall, I'm happy with the vacuum, but I do wish it had a little more..."get up and go" for going between rooms and over rugs etc.

One less chore I have to manually take care of

It’s amazing how smart our gadgets are these days. I’ve been hesitant to try a robot vacuum thinking it would be too difficult to figure out. Well this Samsung POWERbot R7070 Pet Robot Vacuum is super smart but to my surprise the user manual made it easy to setup and use. I’ve had my eyes on robot vacuums for the past year. When I finally gave in to get one, I decided this POWERbot R7070 was the right choice for my home. Of course I’m already a huge Samsung fan so I’m familiar with the brand. The vacuum set includes a large docking station, power cord, battery charger, boundary markers, spare filter, a remote control with batteries, and an easy to read user manual. The vacuum is very large, approximately 13” wide x 4” tall and about 9.5-lbs. There are 4 cleaning modes: auto clean, spot clean, repeat clean, and manual clean. You can also choose a one-time schedule or daily schedule. To access some of these features you can do it manually on the vacuum or with the included remote control. You can also control the vacuum with Amazon Alexa and even with your smartphone like the Samsung Note 9 that I have. To prevent the vacuum from entering certain areas, like stairs, you can use the included magnetic boundary markers in a certain pattern. This D-shaped vacuum maneuvers easily in corners, tight spaces, and around obstacles. The front of the D-shaped vacuum has a bumper mechanism with a small roller on each side. There’s also a thin rubbery red line on the front that’s the edge master cleaner. This piece extends when it comes to an edge and it flattens to gently run across the baseboards. The underside features two rugged wheels and one large silicone vacuum roller. I love how it automatically adjusts the suction based on the floor type. There are three suction power modes: Turbo, Normal, and Quiet. On average you get about 60-80 minutes, give or take, of battery life per charge. Overall, this robot vacuum has been wonderful for cleaning my hard floors and low-pile carpets. It’s just one less chore that I have to manually take care of.

Much better than my old Neato Botvac

I had a Neato Botvac for 2 1/2 years. It did a excellent job cleaning. However, in it's life time it was riddled with various problems and it made it very difficult to keep running. It's quality in electric parts was below zero. It finally broke. I decided to give Samsung a try. I wanted something that was more reputable and still used a logcial pattern for cleaning. I was going to buy it from Amazon, but they were sold out. I bought mine at Best Buy and it was even $50.00 off on sale($550.00). Here are notes on the first run: 1) Decent logic pattern. Nothing was missed. I'll update this some more later. 2) Good suction. It got a small Styrofoam particle in the crack of my floor. 3) I like the low profile front end.... it pushed cords away instead of sucking them in. Neato would always try to vacuum the cords. 4) Edge clean is really cool. Does a excellent job on the edges. 5) Did not get stuck even one time!!!! Neato would always get stuck somewhere. 6) Motor is less loud than my Neato, not by much but that is ok. 7) Cleaned my black mat ok... it missed the middle part. I think it has trouble with the black color. Neato had no issues with this. And the most important..... it did not malfunction!!!! Neato would always break and malfunction(rather it be a sensor, false drawer open alert, or clear my path). I will update this review as time goes by. As of right now, I am happy with my purchase. It's nice to have a robot vacuum cleaner that won't break and uses a logical pattern.

It took me a long time and multiple tries to get the vacuum working with the app, for some reason. I see that some had a similar problem, but most did not. Anyway, after getting everything working together, I can confirm that the vacuum works quite well. We have travertine and carpet, and the vacuum could go from one to the other without any problems. I think I was getting about 90 mins or so on the charge. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be more than that, but it's definitely adequate for our use. Sound/noise level was acceptable as was what was required for basic cleaning/upkeep. I don't have any experience with the closest competitor, but I'm pretty happy with this vacuum. Only downside, as mentioned above, was the initial connection to the app. I would recommend it, but with the stipulation that Samsung works harder on the app.

We have had the courtesy of trying out the Samsung POWERbot R7070 robot vacuum for almost a month now courtesy of @theinsiders. This unique experience has been wonderful for our family. Our floors look and feel so much more clean after the vacuum runs vs when we just sweep. The initial setup of the vacuum is super easy right out of the box. I connected it to our WiFi via the SmartThings app and am able to control the vacuum remotely. From here you can view the history and mapping of the home. It has three settings as far as the suction. It is nice being able to use quite mode when the kids are sleeping and then switch to turbo when we are not home! The robot does not repeatedly bump into things as it can sense our edges and corners. It even has an arm that helps sweep when it senses things need to be swept when it cannot get close enough with the brush. There are no issues with the robot docking itself either. Our battery will last almost 1 hour of continuous cleaning before it docks to recharge and will then pick-up where it left off. This vacuum has been so nice as our kids know how to trash the house! The POWERbot R7070 will not disappoint. I recommend it to anyone who likes automation or just needs help cleaning up in a busy household. Ours is named Sally and we will love her forever. Thank you again to the Insiders for letting use be a part of this amazing opportunity! Here is a link to our un-boxing video: https://youtu.be/hf_81gDCSQY

I've always wanted a robot vacuum cleaner and this one has lived up to all the hype. To begin with, this vacuum has great suction. It really picks up well and I have never noticed anything left on the floor that it didn't pick up. Cleaning the dust cup is fast and very easy. There are several different modes of operation that allow it to be used as you need it. The auto mode is standard one we use, and works very well. You can also use the spot cleaning method to do a quick clean-up of a spill and guide it by pointing the remote to show it where to clean. The third method is where you just basically drive it around and show it where to clean. The POWERbot itself is well designed and low enough to fit under most (not all) furniture. There seems to be a trade off in robot vacuums where if they are very thin, then they don't clean well and if they have a really good suction, then they are a bit taller. This one works well for us even though it can't fit under our sofa. I look at this as a tool to keep the house vacuumed and free of dust. But I don't expect it to replace my upright vacuum or my own good thorough cleaning. This guy is great at the maintenance cleaning though, and does a remarkably good job of getting into corners and under the front edge of kitchen cabinets. It is thin enough to get under a lot of furniture and it surprised me with how methodical it is when cleaning. Our house is on the smaller side and so we have a lot of obstacles for it to maneuver around. It does very well with avoiding things and is very tenacious about visiting as much of the floor as it possibly can. It works very well on hardwood floors but is also surprisingly adept at carpeted floors as well. The drive wheels are well designed and it can get good traction on both. I've watched it get itself into some sticky situations and thought that I would have to rescue it, but it works out a way to free itself every time. The one downside (if it could be called that) is with light weight bathroom rugs. It can get stuck with these. But these are very tough to vacuum for anyone so I don't really consider it a con. I just pick them up and shake them out over the floor before I turn the bot loose and it picks up everything. We don't have a pet but we have had them in the past and the amount of hair they shed is hard to keep up with. I would highly recommend this to anyone that does have pets. You could run it every day when you're not home and come home to a clean house. This is a well made and very well designed and programmed vacuum. It gets to all parts of the floor in a methodical manner and doesn't rely on the ping pong method like some other vacuums. It's relatively quiet and only ramps up the suction on carpeting where you really need it. You can download the Samsung Smart Home app to control and program it from your smartphone or tablet. Or you can do the same thing from the included remote. The plus side of the app is that you can control it even if you're away from home. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it does work really well.

    Amazing Product

This product is amazing. I don't know what took me so long to get this product. First, let me say, I thought my house was spotless until I received this small but powerful machine. I vacuum my house a day prior to receiving the powerbot. After unpacking and using the vacuum, I could not believe how much dirt it took off my floor. I was baffled as to how much dirt the powerbot got off my floor. This thing is powerful, it went in places that the regular vacuum can't go. i.e., under the bed, dresser table, couch, etc. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical buying this product, I just thought it was going to be another gadget in my house. My family told me a vacuum is a Vacuum, so this one will not make a difference, we were all wrong. This is a time and life saver. Allergy sufferers in my home are suffering less since we got the Powerbot 7070. This thing will pick up everything. I am so amazed by this Machine, that I sometimes sit there and watch it do it thing. This is my first robot vacuum cleaner, so maybe I am bias, but this thing is very impressive. I was not disappointed at all purchasing this product and you will not be either. I like the powerful suction edge and the visionary mapping. I was amazed that the thing went to the edge of my stairs and did not go over, I stood there and kept looking to make sure that it was not going to go over and it didn't. For those naysayer, give this a try and you will not regret it. I have had this for a few weeks now and have not had any issues so far. The only problem I had when I first got it, was trying to setup the Wi-Fi. Almost every electronics in my home is Samsung, by the time I am done with my home every product in there will be Samsung. Samsung makes innovative and quality products and they are stuck with me for life. This product will vacuum all types of floors. My sister is trying to take away my powerbot, she was one of the non-believers and now she's a big big fan. I can go on and on about the powerbot, but I think by now anyone reading this should be able to tell how impressed I am with this product. I have not been disappointed with any of my Samsung products. The powerbot is supposed to work with Alexa, but I haven't try it yet, but will do so in in the near future. To recap what makes the product fantastic: Edge Cleaner Wi-Fi connectivity Time saver Visionary Mapping Get this product, you will not regret it. I will have to hide mine from my sister, she is trying to take mine away.

I would recommend this to a friend
