Dont have to sweep anymore this does it all for me.

I will start by saying this is my first robot vacuum so I don't have a lot to compare it too. But after using this thing for a little while...I have to say, I really like it! I haven't had to pull out my regular vacuum since I got it. The setup was about as easy as you can get. Unbox everything and then plug in the docking station. Remove the packaging materials from the vacuum itself and then power on the vacuum and set it on the docking station so it can get charged up. Other than that...there really isn't much to it. Then you download the app and get it paired with the vacuum and you are ready to go! There are a few different cleaning modes, but I usually just had it scheduled fro during the day when I was gone at work so it wouldn't be getting in the way when I was at home trying to do stuff. It worked like a charm. I came home and could see that the floor had been vacuumed and the vacuum was back in the charging dock getting charged up and ready for the next use. There are also a few different speed settings as well...I just left it on turbo because even though it was a lot louder than the other 2 modes...I had it running when I wasn't home so the noise wouldn't bother me...and also that cleans the best! As far as the actual cleaning this thing does. It does just as good of a job as any other vacuum I have ever had...maybe even better! I would have thought it would constantly be running into things and not getting corners and things like that. But it really seems to have gotten my whole place mapped out and knows exactly where to go and where not to go. The coolest part is when it gets to a edge or corner and this other little squeegee like part comes out and scrapes inward so it can suck up the dirt. In that respect...it probably cleans edges better than most vacuums do! Itr is also very easy to take care of. There is a washable filter that you can re-use...so you don't have to spend a lot of extra money replacing filters like you do on some other vacuums. The canister that catches all the dirt can easily be removed with the touch of a button and then easily put back in. That's really all you have to do as far as maintenance goes. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a robot vacuum. They are significantly cheaper than other brands and models I have seen out there, and they do a great job of cleaning.

Frankly, a HUGE disappointment. Had to de-clog dog hair frequently. Lots of error messages / stopping / dying after about 4-6 months, and then at about 10-11 months it stopped working altogether, couldn't take or keep a charge.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to be part of the Insiders to review the Samsung POWERbot R7040. This unit’s lithium-ion battery does a good job getting about 30-45 minutes of run time before returning to the base for recharge. The motor was improved and is more powerful than the previous model which does drain the battery faster. Once the unit does recharge itself, it is smart enough to continue where it left off. The POWERbot’s navigation system uses a 120 degree camera to scan for obstacles, ceiling/walls, and finding corners to aid in positioning. It uses a mapping feature to know where to go and where it has been and has bump sensors to avoid obstacles on the floor. However, I noticed that the unit does have some scratches/light damage on the surface because it does at times hit obstacles which means that the camera does not sense everything. I found it works best to pick up light rugs/rugs with fringe so that the unit does not push them around or suck up a corner and drag it around the floor. The unit does have three suction power modes (low, normal, and high) so that you can control the level of power on the device. Having a long haired dog that sheds constantly, I have found that the unit in normal mode works great on hard floors as my floors have never been cleaner. With the edge clean technology, my baseboards and corners look great and stay clean. The unit does a good job on carpet as well. Although in my situation, the transition from hard floor to a higher knap carpet, it can have difficulty transitioning at times. Once it does make the transition, it has only gotten stuck once on the higher knap carpet. The R7040 comes with a remote control and also allows you to download a mobile app for wireless control. With the remote, I could set a schedule, start, pause/stop a cleaning cycle and dock the robot to recharge. I also installed the Samsung SmartThings app which gave me the same controls as the remote, but with added benefits. I could get a map of the areas cleaned as well as a battery level indicator. After pairing to my home network, I integrated Amazon Alexa with the device. In conclusion, the POWERbot did a great job in keeping my basement spotless daily removing a surprising amount of dust/dog hair and was able to navigate well around all obstacles. The mobile app gave me the ability to track the movement along with the ability to control it with my voice. If you don’t enjoy vacuuming on a regular basis and desire a clean home, this is perfect. #InsidersPOWERbot

I had a Roomba for years and loved it, eventually it saw the end of its life when I moved and dropped it. This vacuum has been nothing but a headache. It consistently gets stuck on its own charging base then stops to warn that it has something stuck in its wheel (killing the battery by the time I get home). It is constantly throwing up error codes saying that it has something stuck in it, and there is nothing stuck. It would be lovely to have the scheduled cleanings, but I think it has only completed a cleaning 50% of the time. When reading around online this seems to be common. I jumped at the sale price, and will never do so again. Samsung says I have to send it in for repairs within a couple months of owning a brand new device...but I highly doubt that will fix it's complete stupidity of getting stuck in it's own charging base.

POWERbot looks cool and got decent reviews but we have had nothing but trouble. There is a known issue that causes the rotating cylinder with the brushes to wear a groove in the casing, causing severe vibration and noise. Each time we have sent it back they put a bandaid on it: first, smoothing down the worn housing, and then second by mounting a "sleeve" that will just wear down over time - as ours did. After the 2nd repair we were told if it broke a 3rd time, they would replace. Well it just broke a 3rd time and we submitted all required paperwork and now they are giving us the run around. Better off going on Amazon and buying their recommended robot vacuum.
