Customers are enthusiastic about the POWERbot™ Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum's cleaning performance and powerful suction, noting that it effectively cleans carpets and removes pet hair. Many appreciate its ease of use and relatively quiet operation, while the intelligent mapping feature is also praised for its effectiveness. Does the job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've not used a robot vacuum before so I can't compare to other brands. This one was quieter than I expected. I love the remote control! It has different cleaning patterns you can choose from and it doesn't crash into obstacles. I love that I can let it run and not worry about it. It will go back to its base on its own for charging. The gathering container is a bit in the small side. It doesn't handle corners and edging too well. Might need to use an edging wand for that. All in all I really like it for hands free cleaning!

The future of Vacuuming is here!! Get this Robot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The POWERbot R7040 is a new Robotic vacuum from Samsung. I had a Roomba before it got stuck so many times it was more work than it was worth. After using the Roomba a couple of time it was relegated to the closet. When I got the opportunity to review this Robotic Vacuum I was excited what guy doesn't like robots! I was skeptical that this thing could do a good job in my office full of chairs and desks and other equipment serving as obstacles. Not only could it do the job, It did a great job! The vacuum was able to navigate the office and return to its charging pad about 90% of the time occasionally it got stuck in a tight spot and turned off. After I identified those areas I moved the furniture slightly and it has returned 100% of the time. You can also use barrier markers to tell the device not to enter certain areas, this is explained in the manual. Per Samsung an "Onboard digital camera and nine individual smart sensors help create an optimal cleaning path by scanning the layout of your home and its surroundings." allow it to navigate most obstacles. The Vacuum has really excellent suction it automatically adjusts the power for different surfaces. You can manually adjust the vacuum to standard suction or turbo if you wish. The vacuum can be directed at an area with the remote if you just need spot cleaning. The vacuum can adjust it’s height as needed for different carpet or hard flooring on the fly. The dust canister is easily removable and the filter is water washable. I am still surprised at all the dust this thing picks up every day. I used to develop sneezing and mild laryngitis by the end of each day of work requiring me to take antihistamines and nasal steroids but no longer since the POWERbot has been on the job. FYI I had a cleaning service vacuuming my office 2 times a week and I personally saw them do it, the POWERbot still got dust up after they vacuumed! The set up is simple, locate an area to place the charging pad with enough room around it as noted in the manual. Plug in the charger. Turn on the power switch on the bottom of the POWERbot and place it on the charger. Let it charge until it displays Full on the LED panel. Pair it to your wirelessnetwork if you want to use the mobile app. Use the remote or the Mobile app to set the vacuum to single or repeat vacuum mode, set the time and day then the schedule. After that it's all automatic! If the vacuum gets stuck and shuts off just bring it back to the charging pad and let it charge, if it does show the charging animation you need to push the power button on the remote to bring it out of sleep mode or it will not charge. During a normal run the vacuum operates until it gets low on power then returns to it's charging pad after it is fully charged it will restart until it finishes the entire area. Each charge lasts up to 60 minutes. I used the remote to control the vacuum. There is an IOS and Android app but it requires an open firewall to work. I call Samsung support but they were unable to give me the port numbers required or how to locate the MAC address of the Vacuum to put an exception in my router so I could keep my firewall on. There is also an Alexa skill for the Vacuum. I suspect most homeowners will not have difficulty with this, I just have a very restrictive firewall because this vacuum operates in my business. With that being said.. Samsung if you are listening a solution needs to be developed that allows firewalls!! I recommend this Robotic vacuum for daily cleaning of your flooring surfaces especially under furniture where you can not get with a manual vacuum. By the way my wife; who is a little technophobic, said I was a little crazy getting a robotic vacuum now she loves it! Search for the R7040 on YouTube (I can't post the link) to check out the vacuum attacking a room full of obstacles, it will give you a good idea of how it navigates while doing its job. IF YOU WANT A FIRST ROBOTIC APPLIANCE THIS IS THE ONE TO GET!!!

Great Vacuum but Gets Stuck Occasionally
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this Samsung PowerBot vacuum to demo and review. Unpacked everything and got it setup on the charger. The next day we gave it the first run about an hour after cleaning our floors. I was impressed by the amount of stuff picked up, some of which was dog hair from or Shih Tzu. We have a large full wall entertainment center this just fits under and I'm guessing it did a better job under there than I did. Watching it work, I was impressed by how well it does at finding the corners and using the edge brush to get into these spots and the way it worked it's way around all the legs of the dining room table. The only negative so far has been starting it right before leaving the house and coming home to find it stuck, once partially under a sofa table we use for family photos in the entry way which has a slight arch to the bottom edge and had become stuck where the arch was a little lower than the center. The second time was our bike stand in the game room, which the front legs taper from about 1" on the outer edge to almost 3" high at the center and the vac had run up the leg from the short section until one of the wheels was off the ground. I'm not sure if the learning will take care of this and it won't continue to happen, or if I'll need to mark it off with the tape so it won't hit these areas and just follow up with the handheld. A little more time will tell. It transitions well from the tile in the entryway, game room and living/dining room onto the carpets in the bedrooms even going under the beds. Overall I"m really impressed with how well it works. We start once or twice a day and then empty the bin in the evening. It always has a decent amount of debris it's picked up. We haven't setup the smartphone app yet or tried to schedule the programming, but we keep the remote on the coffee table and that's been our primary means of controlling it so far.

Very Good For The Right Type Of Place
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I've never owned a robot vacuum before so I can not make any comparisons to others out there. I have always wanted one since I am an absolute neat freak (I have two Dysons, a steam mop, and various other cleaning implements just for floors - I may have a problem but at least it is a good one to have). Finally pulled the trigger because the Samsung POWERbot seems to hit the sweet spot of power, versatility, and most of all price. Setting up the POWERbot was simple and while I attempted to use the iOS app, I had read from several other reviews on here that it really wasn't worth it, so when it kicked me out for the 2nd time, I just stopped. I don't really see a need to use it anyway since this is intended to be an independently running system and if I do need to interact with the POWERbot, they give you a nice remote control to use. Ok, so now for how well it works.... It works wonderfully for the right kind of place. I live in a two-story house and one of those floors is the right kind and the other is not. My ground floor is the one that is not particularly supportive, and to be fair, I have a hard enough time with it and I'm (supposedly) a sentient being and not a rudimentary AI in a small vacuum. The majority of the floors on my ground floor are large tiles and some pretty thick rugs under the main dining table and the coffee table. In addition the furniture around the rug in the living room comes right up to the rug and while the couch, love seat, and chairs have plenty of clearance underneath, the gap where the rug and furniture meet is too narrow for the POWERbot to squeeze through. Also, the end tables and coffee tables probably look to the vacuum like they can be traversed under but there are bars further in that act as supports and probably confuse the heck out of the machine. I think my first floor is a bit too much of an obstacle course for this machine. It cleaned in many of the open places but to tell the truth, I really wanted something to make it easier to get under and around some of these things without having to move everything. That being said, my upstairs floors are all carpet with the exception of tile in the bathrooms. It is also free of too may obstacles and has clear runs underneath furniture. Here is where the POWERbot shines. It cleans up the carpet continually and does a nice job picking up all the hair my wife leaves on the floor in the bathroom (seriously, how is that woman not bald?) and all the litter the cat seems to carry out of the litter box in the laundry room (I think he does this out of spite). This is actually probably a better use for the POWERbot than what I had originally intended and I should probably give it 4.5 stars but that is not an option. I would say that my wife and I spend 75% of our time upstairs and have the windows open almost constantly now so we get a lot more dirt and dust up there anyway. I have noticed a marked decrease in dust on the furniture upstairs and in general so the POWERbot is saving me time not only with vacuuming but also reducing my need to dust quite as often. I'd call that a win-win. All-in-all, I'm pretty pleased with the Samsung POWERbot. I have always been very happy with Samsung products (my washer and dryer, fridge, TVs) and this is another winner in their stable of products. If you have been holding off on getting one of these but have always kind of wanted one, you really don't have much of an excuse not to get one now. Go out and get the POWERbot; it will pay for itself with all the time you will save not vacuuming/dusting!

Not my thing
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum works, but it was not what I expected. You must empty it’s bagless deposit many times. Our house is mostly grown ups, not too much dust but a broom is faster and more effective.

POWERbot R7040 - Part of the Family
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note: I am reviewing this product as an Insider… A few weeks of using the POWERbot R7040, I can easily say it has become a part of our family (known by my kids as our robot vacuum dog). This thing has changed our lives and we don't think we can live without it. Starting with the packaging, this thing was packed safely inside the box with hard plastic within so it would not move around during shipping. Taking it out of the box, everything was very easy to put together and the instructions were clear. Once it was set up and charged, I connected it to the SmartThings app on my phone (which again was easy to do) and it updated the device. I set up a schedule to have it run every morning at 3 AM, but I just couldn’t wait. I went ahead and started it up. And was I surprised! I just wanted it to run around a few areas to see what it would do and didn’t even pick up any of the toys around the house. It avoided every toy and was able to go under our tables without any issues with all of the sensors it uses. I thought it would be loud (like a regular vacuum) but it was actually fairly quiet compared to it. You would think that means it has less suction but it had no issues picking up whatever dirt was in it’s way. We also have multiple rugs throughout our first floor(the rest is hardwood) and due to the heavy adjustable wheels the R7040 comes with, it had no issues going on and off the rugs. The dustbin was pretty full after the first run but after it started running daily, we were only emptying it out every three days or so. Once completed (or the battery is running low -- more on that later), it would go back to the dock and charge itself up. You can see the current status of the R7040 through the SmartThings app. The best part is that once it has finished vacuuming, the app will draw out the path the R7040 took while doing the full cleaning. I actually took one of these maps and was able to draw out the whole first floor, knowing exactly what rooms it had mapped out. One minor con is that the battery life is pretty low, but in the end it really doesn’t matter -- once the battery begins to run low, it will stop where it is at and return back to the base to recharge. Once it’s fully charged again, it’ll continue where it stopped to finish up the rest of the vacuuming. We wouldn’t even know about this unless we check the SmartThings device history. Overall, I highly recommend the R7040 to anyone who wants to save some time from having to vacuum constantly and enjoy some well-deserved free time.

One SMART Robot!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty amazing little robot! The Edging function is terrific, better than I can do with a traditional vacuum, in normal mode. The first time I used it the battery did not last long. However, it was mapping the home so that makes sense. It's a lot quieter than a traditional vacuum and my cat, while unsure of it does not run away from it. There were times when I thought it was going to miss a spot but amazingly it came back and didn't miss any areas. It's so smart, it knows how to accommodate for obstructions, even those little door stoppers near the floor. I do not believe this robot replaces my traditional vacuum as it is a lot slower and won't do stairs, but I can definitely see the usability in this robot. I did set up the SMART home app, and had no troubles, it even sent me a notification that it was docking to recharge. Overall it is a smart little robot that I'm happy to have help clean.

The future is Now
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Long ago, we dreamed of a future where we would have robots do our menial day-to-day house work. Well, with Samsung’s POWERbot R7040 robot vacuum cleaner, the future is now. This little saucer on wheels rolls around the house and literally vacuums it for you. Right from the package with little to no assembly, you just plug it in to charge and off it goes, leaving you to do other things. The vacuum offers powerful suction with very little noise and even comes with an app and a remote so that you can make sure every nook and cranny gets covered. I was worried about little bits of things that get left behind like the first generation of vacuum robots used to do with their sad rotary sweepers - you would have to vacuum after your robot vacuums because the rotary sweepers would fling things elsewhere.

Amazing features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've really wanted to try one of these robotic vacuums for years and it finally gotten the chance and have been so impressed with the Samsung POWERbot R7040 and the way that it really does self-clean and keep my house extremely neat without me having to do anything. Once I got it I was so excited to give it a try I was really impressed by the way that you can use it right out of the box and it had extremely easy to follow instructions. My first impression was that it definitely has a very modern and Sleek look to the unit. After first setting it up I was impressed with the fact that it has a very powerful and efficient cleaning system that got up all the little pieces and particles but most of all the hair around my house for their pets. I like the fact that it can maneuver around all obstacles and all parts of my house. I was especially impressed by the way that it can clean against the walls and in corners and the way that it's able to go from hardwood floors to carpets. I was also completely impressed by the way that you're able to actually use an app with it to be able to connect it through WiFi and use the device while at home or away. I really don't know how I lived without it before. I'm constantly cleaning since I have children and pets and this device has become such a big help I saving me time and energy and keeping my house much cleaner. And also found it's very easy to empty and clean with little work. I also like the fact that it's very quiet. The only thing that I would say would be a little bit negative if it does take a little bit longer to clean which is fine especially since I can use that while I'm not. And the fact that the canister fills up pretty quickly with hair so it needs to be emptied often. That actually looks we know how well it's cleaning I feel like that's a good thing. I would definitely recommend it and have already recommended it to friends and family just because it's very powerful but also self cleaning and simple to use and very effective

Decent Robotic Vac
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Powwrbot R7040 is a decent robotic vacuum. There is definitely some pros and cons with this machine. The pros: Large surface roller Grid cleaning App control Easy Decent size dirt bin Picks up dirt and pet hair Suction auto detect from hard floor to carpet Look stylish Rarely gets stuck Doesnt run into furniture The cons: Doesnt clean along baseboards well Loud in power max mode Short battery life Power cord is long and hard to hide This review is part of a campaign and I was so excited to try the Powerbot because I am a fan of Samsung and the product description looked like it was perfect for me. Ultimately I do like the Powerbot 7040 but being a previous robotic vacuum user, another manufacturer, prior to this, I have some knowledge about them. My initial reaction when opening the box was pure excitement. It was packaged very nicely and the unit looked beautiful. No perks or extras came with the unit but I knew that starting out. One disappointment was it did not come with a barrier of any kind. My previous bot has an invisible barrier you can set down to avoid stairs or rooms you dont want to vacuum. The first few times I ran my bot, it did the job. Picked up the dog hair on my tile floors. I loved how it runs in a grid so it doesn't miss anything. Right away I noticed that it wasn't getting the dirt/dust/hair around the wall (baseboards). It has a function where an edge cleaning tool comes out and cleans the baseboard but only if it goes to the wall straight on. Possibly because of the sensors. It would have been great if it had a mode to run along the walls. Then it started to squeak. I examined the wheels and roller and did not locates any reason for the squeaking. The battery life is short in my opinion. Although I dont want to mention my other bot, it does last longer. The Powerbot rarely bumps into my furniture which is great but could be why edge cleaning doesnt work well. One other drawback that I noticed is that I have a small rug by my pet door that the Powerbot lifts up and therefore cannot clean it. Sometimes it gets on it, but rarely. I have larger area rugs in several rooms and it has no problem cleaning those. Does a fantastic job and I really like the way it detects the rug and automatically changes the power mode to max. Great feature. Overall, I do like this vacuum. But having experienced others, I do see some drawbacks. It does get the job done.....decently.

Good Robotic Vacuum.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like Samsung products and had high expectations for this product and they did not let me down. Set up is easy and the directions are clear. I first set it up behind a couch in a corner. I later learned to put it in a more central area which worked better although it is visible when docked. At first it seemed to do the same area over an over, run out of battery, and start with the same area. When I moved it to a central area and set it in normal mode, it worked better. The vacuum is larger than I thought but it does work well and I do have a large area. It had a few quirks at first with my bar stools but seems to work better now. In turbo mode, you get about 20 minutes per charge. In regular mode, I get about an hour and the noise level is lower. The dust pan is always full at the end. The app set up was really easy. The device comes with a remote but does not come with boundary markers which many do. I have mine programmed to clean daily which can be monitored with the app. The app also lets you initiate a clean. You can clean a specific spot or an entire area. This is my first robotic vacuum so I have no comparison to other products. I would give it 4.5 stars.
