    VERY HELPFUL

This vacuum has really out done my expectations, I was really hesitant on wether or not robotic vacuums were my thing and if they could get the job done. I have several pets and one of them is a dog who blows her coat and this little guy has really helped keep up on all the hair. I immediately connected it to the wifi so I could control it while I was away and I also set up the geo-fence option that started it before I got home from work making it look like I had spent time cleaning the house all morning. it does make a little noise but I think a lot of it is because I have it set on turbo but its nothing compared to a larger vacuum. It's easy to clean and I like that it sends me notifications when something gets stuck in the wheel or I have left one of my phone chargers down. It does a great job getting under the bed which has saved a lot of time for me since I suffer from allergies. I would recommend this to my friends and family as it has saved me so much time.

Let me just start out by saying, in my house, I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 kids, and one husband. Our house is 100% hard floors, so there is no place for dirt to hide. On day 2 without vacuuming, there are visible dirt and hair tumbleweeds! This vacuum is going to be a super time saver for our household! Instead of vacuuming the whole house everyday, I think we can cut that down to twice a week and run the Samsung POWERbot the rest of the days. The Quick Start guide made startup easy. After running the POWERbot for about 30 minutes, it had already picked up a dirt cup full. My favorite thing is how careful it is around obstacles. It doesn't ram into the baseboards or the dogs, it detects a barrier and just turns the other way. I had the pleasure of reviewing this product as part of the Insiders program. Trust me when I say, if you have indoor pets and hate being glued to your vacuum, you need this product in your life!

    POWERbot to the rescue!!

This is my first time owning and using a robot vacuum and I don't think I will ever not own one. It has saved my back, my time and sanity with dealing with the abundant dog hair. I love the ease of scheduling the POWERbot R7040 to clean twice a day. The only thing I would recommend is if you have pets that have accidents I would not schedule the POWERbot to clean at night or early morning before you wake up. I woke up to dog pee on the floor and the POWERbot running very close to the area. Thankfully it had not gotten to that area yet or that would have been a bigger mess! I really cannot say enough great things about this vacuum. Its easy to clean out the dustbin and clean the filter and its amazing the amount of hair and dirt it picks up every cleaning. After a month of use I am very impressed and happy with my Boyfriend aka POWERbot. I am reviewing as part of the Insiders program

I love how it finds its way back whenever it's low on battery. I also like that I am able to be notified when it's stuck somewhere via app. I gave a 4 only because I wish the manufacture would include the "sensing tape" that I could put on the top stair case so that the POWERbot doesn't fall when it cleans upstairs.

I'm not sure if mine was defective. This machine started off alright. It was cleaning the house rather slowly but eventually it got a lot of dirt and pet hairs off the floor, which was awesome! The problems began when this machine started randomly turning itself back on in the middle of the day when I had never told it to clean. I'm not sure if there is a timer feature on this bot but I didn't tell it to do this. It would turn on multiple times throughout the day. I also started noticing after a few days that it wasn't cleaning as efficiently as it used to. I think at that point I realized that this wasn't a long term product for me. I noticed that the dog hairs were merely being pushed around instead of sucked in by the vacuum. It was such a cool little robot :( i'm sad I had to let him go (i named him sammy, the samsung brobot).

    Disaster for the cost

Mine is a complete mess. It acts very erractically. Will only do a couple strips in one room and then darts out a door into another area. It never finished my not large house before it starts to die and looks for the base. However, it never finds it way back to the base and I usually find it under a chair dead. Once it recharges it takes off again and does the same thing all over again. It also wont go up on short pile rugs so that is useless. Waste of money.

Purchased this to help with daily cleaning on my hardwood floors. I've been really happy! Easy to set up. Starts with a button. Easy to clean. Finds it's way around most everything and is gentle on things it's about to run into. Runs a good hour before finding it's way back to the charger. Recommend it!

    WORLD'S WORST VACUUM

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am so glad I had a Roomba before this, because if this Samsung was my first robot vacuum, I would think they are all just sub-par. This vacuum could run no longer than 20-30 minutes at a time, meaning our open floor plan was never cleaned fully (but the Roomba could do it). The height was just low/high enough that it constantly got stuck under our dressers and end tables. It would get under them, but couldn't get back out. I gave it a small space to clean where cracker crumbs were, and it gave its completion noise while crumbs were still all around (in a 3 foot by 2 foot space). The container that holds the dust, etc. is located on top of the vacuum, which seemed convenient, until dust, etc. starts to fall out of the container when you take it off, and then you have to clean out that space before replacing the container, an annoying extra step not needed for the Roomba as the trash container slides off the back instead of off the top, so any extra dust or trash just falls out, rather than onto the vacuum. Even bringing the vacuum to the charger was a pain and took forever for it to connect correctly to the base to start charging. The Roomba has a handle for picking it up to bring to a room. No handle on the Samsung, and when you pick it up, it starts playing an annoying tune. The Samsung didn't go on some of my rugs that the Roomba was fully able to, maybe the camera thought the edge was an object and avoided it. The Samsung came with nothing in the box to make a barrier (the Roomba comes with a device to set up to keep the Roomba out of a certain room, or away from dog bowls, etc.). Suffice to say, I was really hoping the Samsung was actually better than the Roomba because of the camera it has. In experience, it was much, much worse and I was more than anxious to return it and go with the Roomba 890 instead.

I have absolutely loved having the power of in my house! I come home to clean floors all around the house and a little bit filled w dirt and dust. I am absolutely pleased with my powerbot and highly recommend it to anybody that has floors needing cleaned! It works well, cut back on my time spent cleaning, and helps allow for more time doing things I love. The vacuum even kept itself atop the counter after being placed there by a visitor. Thank heavens for great sensors!

I am absolutely loving the PowerBot, it is so easy to use. The integration is seamless with Alexa and one-touch start is amazing. It is such a time saver as I don't have to vacuum anymore. Super-easy to schedule events in the Samsung Home app. The run-time is about 60 minutes, but the vacuum auto-recharges and starts cleaning again (it takes about two charge cycles to go through the entire house). Amazing product, highly recommend it!

I have 3 dogs and 2 kids. I use it every day. It’s been attacked by the dogs, “accidentally” landed on by my kids and it still works amazingly well! I Love how effective it is especially around baseboards. Totally grosses me out how much dog hair it collects but glad it does.. I hope when it’s time to replace it the new version is as sturdy as this one!

Works OK, when it doesn't get stuck

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted to love this vacuum, but the bottom line is I can't take advantage of the scheduling feature or use it at all unless I'm on the same level of the house to babysit it to make sure it doesn't get stuck. We have wood floors on our main level and the Powerbot gets stuck on a small piece of floor trim that runs around our fireplace EVERY TIME it runs. We tried putting cardboard boxes in the area to see if it would adapt/learn to avoid the area but it would just push them out of the way and continue to get stuck. We called Samsung and were told to try magnetic boundary tape but they were backordered and no one could tell me without a doubt that this model is compatible with the tape since it was not included like some of the higher end models. Most of the third party boundary tapes available online say they are not compatible with Samsung robots. We're past the 14 day return policy and Best Buy doesn't make exceptions so I'm stuck with an expensive vacuum that needs to be monitored while it runs which completely defeats the purpose of a robot vacuum in the first place.

Hey Kevin! I'd like to help you take advantage of your PowerBot. This link: https://bit.ly/2n6wlHj can help you schedule your vacuum cleaner. Also, on this link: https://bit.ly/2ls0U9C you can find information on how you can get your unit back to its charger base. To increase the performance, turn off the emergency button located at the bottom for 60 seconds and then turn it back on, make sure to remove any obstacle that may interrupt the vacuum's operation, and start the unit. Keep in mind that you can use your PowerBot through your mobile device. For more information, refer to your user's manual:https://bit.ly/2GOroKV on pages 28-31 as well as you can see this video: https://bit.ly/2KdZ4Is for more instructions.

    NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PETS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Okay! So, this is going to be a very critical review for the following singular reason: THE BRUSH ROLLER. If you are not comfortable spending 30$ on a new brush roller every (potentially) 30 days, then I would recommend you skip this until Samsung addresses this issue! I don't dole out one-star reviews for just any reason, mind! I have to feel extremely cheated, and for this 400$, one-month half life wonder, it definitely warranted this from me! When I bought this vacuum I decided to keep my expectations in check. I expected to have to sweep up my pet's hair every other day in order to help this little dude keep up with the mess. But to my surprise, I never actually had to! It worked so well, at first, I had no troubles what so ever. I would manually run this only, on tile, in about 400 sq ft of kitchen/living room space. I have one dog and 3 cats in that area. ( A border collie. Lots of fur, mind you, so I understand some realism was in order as to what to expect this vacuum to do!) I decided to run it once or twice during the first month, and noticed the brush roller got loaded each time. So I stopped using it on carpet altogether. I then cleaned the rollers, regardless every other time I ran it. The dirt cup was emptied every single time I ran it. The hair built up slowly on the brushes when ran on the tile. I was bummed about having to clean it so often. But, I figure I have a pretty exceptionally hairy house - so whatever. I went to clean it one day and realized at some point during the last run that the bearing had spun and the plastic housing AND brush roller end were completely melted. Again, I understood that I had high demands. But I think what has allowed to this to occur, is a genuine design flaw. There's a space between the roller end and brush roll itself that allows hair to become trapped, and it isn't easily removed, causing this part to fail. Whatever, I thought, it must happen all the time, I'll go find the part and fix it. Nope! Your ONLY choice is to purchase a new brush roll for 30$ from Samsung. I had this vacuum and ran it for 30 days TOPS. Again, no issue I figured. Wrong! Best buy's return policy is now 14 days? I'm not sure when this happened. I feel pretty sure it used to be at least 30 days.. Oh well. To the manufacturers site! Oh. Brush rollers and surrounding parts aren't covered by their warranty. So now I felt completely taken advantage of, this is a feeling most companies would want to avoid. If you feel like 30$ for a month's maintenance on a 400$ unit is acceptable, then by all means! But for the use I got out of this, and the maintenance I feel I tried to provide on a consistent basis, this product fell completely flat for me, and if I could I'd get a refund. For those of you who DON'T have a hairy home: Here's what I loved about this unit! 1. Cleaning is so easy, and the dirt cup is rinse-able! 2. The robot's AI is actually really well done. I really loved watching it get more and more efficient with each cleaning, every day with the smart things app! it shows you its path of cleaning and travel and as it learns your home, it gets better and better at doing it! 3. It's very gentle. Not like other robots, it doesn't ram into things. It actually predicts when its about to run into stuff and goes up to it carefully. the edge clean is fun to watch as well. 4. Battery life is pretty good, I have a small home so I could let it run 2 passes in the tiled area twice on turbo before it had to go back. No more little particles stuck to my feet in the morning! 5. it actually does avoid obstacles. And it can detect when its on a different type of surface, very handy for area rugs etc. in conclusion: I was extremely skeptical of robot vacuums in general, I felt like they were a waste of money for pet owners, and people who need a lot more than just a touch up in a kid free, pet free model like home. I think that this vacuum could be amazing, if they would just fix that brush issue! It really is the only con I have about the vac that would cause me to return it. They need to address this so people can feel confident, or maybe just offer the actual rubber bearing part on their site for cheap. This would fix the product for me, personally. I think 30$ a pop is too much. Especially if it's only incurred because you didn't know where to clean, specifically! All in all, if you have low cleaning needs and low hair in your house, this vac would do great. I think it does a lot better on tile than carpet, and I personally am fine keeping up with the carpet myself. This keeps all the little things that get tracked in like dirt and bits of food picked up so nothing is sticking to your feet on your hard floored areas ( That drives me insane, personally! )

    Extremely poor design, limited reliability

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The small bearing found on the brush bar on my unit completely froze within 6 months of owning the unit. This caused an extreme amount of heat to build up around the bearing and it melted the chassis and burned the rubber boot that houses the bearing. Using a plastic chassis and a rubber bushing and relying solely on a 1/8" shielded (not sealed) bearing means this machine is designed to fail. Dust will inevitably penetrate the bearing, freeze it, and then you have to buy another of their $30 brush bars. Although it's doubtful that Samsung will ever consider customer input (due to cost saving reasons) I suggest changing out the housing to metal (or heat resistant PA6 glass reinforced) plastic. Owing to the fact that no service center is nearby, I will have to attempt to repair this myself.

At first I thought I would love this vacuum. But it doesn’t live up to its claims. It constantly runs full speed into furniture and also loses internet connection every few minutes while cleaning. It gets lost on the way back to its base. I had hoped there would be a firmware update to help but so far after two years nothing. It’s ability to navigate is getting worse. Don’t recommend any vacuum from Samsung. Get a roomba.
