Useful and Comfortable Cellular Watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Galaxy Watch5 is the latest watch from Samsung using WearOS. It is functionally identical to the Galaxy Watch5 Pro except that the latter has a larger battery and possibly a more upscale look. The one that I am reviewing is a Watch5 with a black band and black face and the ability to be used either linked to your phone or as a cellular device. It is 44mm and is easy to see in broad daylight with its bright screen and is light and comfortable for a person with fairly large wrists. The combination of a black band and black face is also attractive. Charging is wireless. Setup is through an app on your phone. During setup you may choose whether you want the watch linked to your phone or whether you want it to be on your cellular network. Applications can also be initially chosen at this time. I chose to try the watch both ways. Initially I just linked the watch to the phone. This worked fine but of course you are required to have your phone at all times. Later I setup the watch on my T-Mobile account using the same number as my phone. This also worked out well and freed me of needing my phone to make/receive messages and deal with notifications, etc. The latest version of the WearOS is reasonably fast and has matured with numerous useful convenience and health apps available. Battery life is reasonable although some days I had trouble getting through a full day. This is somewhat offset by fast charging. In summary, I recommend the Watch5 to anyone looking for and attractive and functional watch that operates either linked to your phone or a separate cellular device. Heavy users may need to be careful since some days will require charging.

Great for everyday
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Impressive addition to the Samsung Galaxy family. This is the best update to the Samsung Galaxy Watch by FAR. Super light weight, I barely feel it on my arm, this is what a sport watch was meant to be like. The round design still feels very large compared to other square shaped smart watches on the market, but once you get the right band on it. It feels great. The User interface is smooth and responsive and the customizations you can make are endless. A watch was always a way to show off your style and when smart watches took over, we lost a lot of "character" because everyone had this same "black/blank" screen. Those days are over, the options for watch faces are plenty and its very easy to find your own unique style. It goes beyond the look though, the endless options to customize the way you USE this watch is so much fun. I can keep my favorite apps and routines on my wrist and do not have to worry about being bothered by unwanted apps or bloatware. I find myself mostly using this as a way to determine if I need to grab my phone. I dont find myself texting or interacting as much but mostly reading important notifications before grabbing my phone.

Decent Watch - Worth buying
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The galaxy watch 5 is really good, but is a bit heavier from the previous model. Changing watch faces from the wear app is really fast. Right when I took it out of the box, my z flip 4 instantly recognized the watch and the pairing and setting up the watch was really easy to understand and set up. One negative part I find of the watch is one you’re done setting up the watch it lags a bit on the tour for the watch but it only lasts for a few seconds. The watch is only compatible with android phones, and works really well with Samsung phones. The built quality and the hardware is really nice, in fact my favorite part of the watch. Although that you have to pay for the LTE version of the watch, I find that it's useful in "no phone scenarios". All the basic apps work really well, and some other 3rd party apps. The watch is rated IP68, in which it can withstand dust, water, and dirt. The watch overall compared to the Watch 4 is improved in speed, and durability, and performance. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. Hope this review helps you to decide to buy or not. I tried to connect this to iphone 12 pro max but it did not work.

Great, fully featured smartwatch!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm LTE version) just for the fitness features (heart monitor, oxygen sensor, etc) during workouts but ended up using it daily for so much more. I love using it without my phone; I can still listen to downloaded offline music via connected bluetooth earbuds, pay for stuff with Google Wallet, GPS tracking with Google Maps, etc even without a SIM (can connect to hotspots/WiFi when I need to). It's a bit bulky but I've gotten used to it over time; the larger 44mm screen is worth the extra weight/size over the 40mm version. I do end up charging it daily as I use it so often; standby time is great but the battery depletes quickly if you're constantly using it.

One of the Best on the market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung watch 5 is a really nice watch but not exactly perfect. I am a Samsung watch user and have been since the early Tizen powered watch a few years ago. One of the features on the old watch that really set it apart was the rotating bezel that allowed users to scroll through screens without having to leave finger prints on the screen. The new Samsung Galaxy watch 5 does not have that feature and is about the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I really miss the rotating bezel. With that out of the way, the Galaxy watch 5 is a very nice watch. I expect the pro model would just add to the greatness of the watch. Things I have noticed since having the watch 5..... the screen is usable wearing polarized sunglasses. This may seem like a little thing, but on the older model, I always had to raise the glasses to read alerts that came up on my screen and the new watch doesn't have that issue. The battery on the 5 is about the same as my older watch. I set up the new watch and then charged to 100%. With regular use the watch 5 was at just under 40% charge about every time. That gives me about 1 1/2 days of use on a full charge with sleep monitoring turned on. The screen is very clear and bright. The watch is exceptionally responsive with no lag. Controls are fairly easy, even without my favorite rotating bezel and with the Samsung app, it is easy to rearrange the order of the tiles on the watch as you swipe from one to another. There is just about any sensor you would need on a watch, including blood oxygen, heart rate and ECG. Samsung health has a world of settings for just about any type of workout. The new screen is Sapphire Crystal and is rated as very scratch resistant. The version I have is the larger watch 5 with the larger battery. There is a smaller version of the 5 and then there is the watch 5 pro which has an even larger battery, tougher glass and a little bit sportier look. I am sure if you look at the three available choices of the Galaxy watch 5 you will have no issues finding just the right one for you. That is, unless you are an iphone user, then I guess there is not a choice. The earlier Galaxy watches were compatible with iphone, but the watch 4 and this new watch 5 do not have an app to use them with an iphone. Maybe someday in the future, but not today. The watch is great. Buy it and I feel certain you will be happy with your purchase.

very nice watch, not the best battery life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch is one of the latest offerings from Samsung. It has remarkable specs: 1.5Gb RAM, 16Gb storage (about 1/2 used), super AMOLED 1.4 inch display with 450 X 450 pixels, blue tooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, water resistant, sapphire crystal, speaker, microphone, etc., etc. It comes loaded with numerous apps such as maps, contacts, compass, Samsung Health, phone, play store, weather, calculator, alarm, voice input, etc. I found the screen quite bright, and viewable outdoors. I really like the customizable, interchangeable watch faces. The background, color, hand color, and complications can be customized. The tiles can be customized - added, deleted, order changed; the app on the phone can be customized to monitor different activities such as walking, jogging, health parameters such as heart rate, sleep, oxygen, etc. The alerts can be set for texts, phone apps, etc. The watch has a ton of functions - ability to monitor physical activity and health parameters and set goals. The user guides and instructions were very minimal to me, and found many abilities / functions through "trial and error" method. I did test uploading a music track to the watch, and it played clearly through the watch speaker. Then I paired a quality headphone set, and the playback was excellent. I could see leaving the phone home if you did not want to be disturbed, and still have your tunes while exercising. However, all is not perfect. I was not able to download Samsung Health Monitor - was "not compatible with my device". Also, due to the sheer multitude of apps, functions, health monitoring, I would think there is quite a learning curve. And for me, the most glaring issue is battery life. I do have brightness 80%, but the minimum screen time is 15 seconds - 7 or 8 seconds would prolong battery. Using the watch mostly in a basic manner, it looks like it will need charging every 2 days. The good is it does charge quickly. Overall, the watch is a lot of fun, and can be used to monitor activities, health parameters, and run many apps right from the watch.

Potentially Exceptional - Marginal Battery Life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL/DR: If you don't mind charging daily, this is quite possibly the best smartwatch available today. Despite disappointing results from my battery life tests; overall this is an excellent watch, especially if you're considering an upgrade from an older Galaxy model (3 or below). -------- If it wasn't for subpar battery life this watch would be exceptional. I tested the following scenarios and recorded the time between 100% and 5% battery life. Note your results may differ. Tests: 1. Always on Display - On, Bluetooth - Auto, WIFI - Auto, LTE - Auto, Continuous Pulse -On; Battery life ~12hrs 2. Always on Display - Off, Bluetooth - Auto, WIFI - Auto, LTE - Auto, Continuous Pulse -On; Battery life ~14hrs 3. Always on Display - Off, Bluetooth - Auto, WIFI - Auto, LTE - Auto, Continuous Pulse -On, Single 10 minute phone call (watch only) and 45 minute walk (No direct connection to phone); Battery life ~9hrs 4. Always on Display - Off, Bluetooth - Auto, WIFI - Auto, LTE - Auto, Continuous Pulse - OFF; Battery life ~ 22hrs 5. Always on Display - Off, Bluetooth - Auto, WIFI - Auto, LTE - Auto, Continuous Pulse - OFF; Changed watch face to all Basic (big info) and turned off all "Complications" to take advantage of OLED screen; Battery life ~ 29 hrs. 6. Always on Display - Off, Bluetooth - OFF, WIFI - OFF, LTE - OFF, Continuous Pulse - OFF; Changed watch face to all Basic (big info) and turned off all "Complications" to take advantage of OLED screen; Battery life ~ 37 hrs. Test conclusion: To obtain acceptable battery life all smart features need to be turned off defeating the purpose of a smart watch. Battery life aside, this watch is packed with features and seemingly well constructed. Despite the large size of the 44mm version, the curved back is extremely comfortable. Heart rate monitoring seemed to be very accurate and the biometric (body composition, and EKG) are neat, but I really cannot speak to their accuracy. This watch is also equipped with blood oxygen monitoring, however I found it a bit finicky. I'm sure this will be improved with a firmware update. It is also supposedly equipped with skin temperature sensors, however these are not cleared for use (yet) in the US. Connectivity is extremely stable. During my tests this watch remained connected, unlike previous versions. Overall the Galaxy 5 watch is a decent full featured Smartwatch and a great choice for a first time buyer or someone looking to upgrade from an older Galaxy Watch model.

Very good digital smart watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 LTE retails for $359.99 usd. It comes with a USB-C Qi wireless charger. But it doesn't come with the source plug unit that plug into the outlet. Here are some of the features that I thought were pretty useful. The face glass is made from sapphire crystal for sturdy protection. The frame is made of aluminum which makes it pretty light weight and scratch resistance. The display type is Super AMOLED and is very good looking with smooth graphics with the 321 ppi density. The brightness can be adjusted and can be set to environment ambiance. You have to option of having an always on display or not. The watch comes with several built in sensors such as accelerometer, gyro, heart rate, ambient light, compass, and a barometer. It has built in GPS. Water resistance up to 50 ft. The watch face is a touch screen control. You can pay for things with built in Samsung Pay. The included exercise app is very accurate. It has the option for physical notification through vibration. There is a built in speaker as well as a microphone. Battery lasts about 60 hours and takes about an hour to charge from zero. There are a couple of things I wished the watch had. There is no memory expansion slot nor camera. Overall, I thought this is a very good smart watch. It pairs easily with my Samsung phone. Since the frame is made from aluminum, I wouldn't just throw it around. I invested in a bumper guard for the frame and it came with the screen protector.

Samsung Lied
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for the blood pressure feature, which it doesn't have. One can call Samsung Health to discover a fix/workaround, but they don't work weekends. So in fact advertising blood pressure measurement as a feature is a lie. Not Best Buy's fault.

Works wonderfully, looks great, connects easily.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung Galaxy Watch is convenient and full of the information you want and need. The touchscreen is responsive. The look is sharp. The strap is sturdy. The apps are plentiful. With the Samsung Health app you have monitoring galore. Whether you walk, run, jog, swim, hike or whatever your activity of choice is, it keeps track for you. It even keeps track of your sleep. Lots of options for watchfaces to get the information you want quickly. Connection is great. I also have a Samsung Fit watch and my phone will connect to whichever watch I put on my wrist automatically. The convenience of adding a sim card to it for calls and gps when/if you leave your phone at home is great. Works wonderfully, looks great, connects easily. The only con I find with it is that even the smaller 44mm is still pretty large. For anyone with small or dainty wrists this might be a problem. My wrist isn't small and it still feels a bit too large for me. But I'm used to wearing the smaller Samsung Fit. Overall, the amount of information and the ability to leave my phone at home without giving up the safety and convenience of being connected is worth it.

Great watch that seems to do it all!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So lets get into this! Where to start? Build and quality - build is solid, casing is made of solid aluminum with sapphire crystal front and back. 2 push buttons extend off the side. The casing is marked 5 ATM(atmospheres) so we are talking about 50 meters or 164ft. manual states Water-resistant up to 50 meters per ISO standard 22810:2010 Watch comes with the standard rubber sports band(20mm wide). I do really like the way the band clasps. As the end piece is under the band so it doesn't catch. The highlight to the sapphire is that the under side is curved for better readings. It does seem to work well during my time with watch. Lets get into setup. Setup was really easy. I had a previous version of the galaxy watch. So the changeover was detected and went almost automatically. Once the sync was complete we were operating seamlessly. Easy peasy! Text and email had some preload response but voice to text works very well for quick response with not needing the phone Apps and notifications - This watch was paired with a Galaxy S21+ and Samsung Health Apps currently customized for text, emails, Apps notifications(defined), calendar display battery - charging is done via wireless base. The base is a USB-C cable and seems propritary to the watch. My old watch charger works as well. only complaint is that the cable is a bit short for my bedside table but good for my desk. Health apps do the basic walk steps, BMI, sleep tracker, ecg, stress and work out trackers.

Best Android watch on the market today.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I’m both a tech junkie and a watch lover. I love all sorts of toys and smartwatches are no exception. Out of the box pairing with my Samsung phone was super simple, and allows the full usage of all the health apps and sensors. Pairing with the non-Samsung required downloading apps and drivers and you lose some features, but the watch still works fantastically for daily real world uses either way. I primarily use this for keeping tabs on messages, emails, and step counting. For those three things, this seems right on the money. Heart rate and steps counting seems fairly comparable, with neither definitely being more accurate than the other. Battery life is where this really shines. It holds a charge all day with 30% or higher still available by sundown. Charging is super quick as well on a 10w usb-c brick. The screen is easy to read, and the apps cover just about anything you’d need on your wrist. There are several great Samsung phones out there and the watch5 pairs with them perfectly. Highly recommend this watch as both a quality fashion accessory as well as a fantastic life assistant. Once I switched from Bixby to Google Assistant, the smartwatch easily interfaced with my entire Google Home and extensive network of Google apps and services, but still had the ease of use expected from a Samsung device.

Extremely disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi there, first let me say that my heart isn’t to be mean or anything like that, I just want to help you not waste your money. (However that depends on what you're expecting in a watch phone). You see, I bought this watch phone with the expectation that I could "leave my real phone at home," but this LTE phone didn't live up to my expectations. If all you want in a wrist phone is to monitor exercise data, and make phone calls, then this phone is fine. However if you're expecting it to largely replace your real phone for running errands and such, it's a huge disappointment. For one thing, it doesn't have a camera, so you totally lose that functionality, and it's internet/YouTube functionality & user experience can only be compared to the earliest flip phones from the early 2000s. And to top it all off, a lot of the apps that you use on your phone can't be loaded on the watch. For example, I couldn't put my car insurance app on the watch to show proof of car insurance, Therefore to leave home in an automobile, i have to carry my real phone to show proof of insurance. Thus, this watch's limitations doesn't really let you leave your real phone at home like you hoped. Then you have the whole issue of having to learn a new & awkward way of navigating another digital device. In short, it just ain't worth it. (And this situation would likely be applicable to any watch phone, regardless of the brand). So if you want such a thing, Understand that it's usable functionality is really for exercise data, and phone calls. Is that reason enough to be married to another monthly payment for data, and yet another device to keep charged? Only you can answer that. For me, it's not worth it. I returned it the next day. Thank you for sharing some of your valuable time with me. All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever!
