The Watch to Beat
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 appears to be a modest upgrade compared to the Galaxy Watch 4. Now without the rotating bezel that set it apart from other watches (I did not have the pleasure of using it myself), it still outperforms other fitness tracking watches on the market. Pros: Fast Charging / Good Battery Screen Size Customizable Fitness Tracking Calls Cons Finicky Texting Most apps are not functional on the watch The prior Galaxy Watch 4 battery was notorious for poor battery life. However, the Galaxy Watch 5 battery is an improvement and contains a 410mAh battery (compared to its predecessor, 361mAh). With a Samsung live wallpaper that I customized for my watch face, I am able to get about two days worth of battery life out of my watch (I literally had 2% battery left before charging it on day two). Though, when I changed the watch face from live to "standard," I had two and a half days of battery and charged the watch in the middle of day three. The screen size is 44 mm, which I believe is adequate enough (I even put a 40 mm size on my wrist; it was too small). The watch is comfortable, and not too heavy on my wrist. I viewed all of my alerts, texts (photos displayed well and large enough for me to see), and my tiles screens well with the gorgeous Super AMOLED display. The colors, text, and screen display are vivid and bright. Everything from the screen display to the customization of the watch was what I expected from Samsung. Speaking of customization, the Galaxy Watch 5 provides various "watch apps" that are functional (not all apps unfortunately, but more on that later). The option to add tiles, customize what the two buttons do (being able to set up which each button function does was a plus, and the ability to set up alerts for apps on your phone make this watch a powerhouse. While accessing the tiles screen, you see several built-in exercises, tasks, and fitness body tracking functions such as heartrate and, my personal favorite, "stress" measuring. However, you can add additional tiles such as your Calendar, Samsung Smart things (to control other Samsung devices in your home from your watch), Alarms, etc. The options are endless, and you can reorder how you display the tiles (or delete ones you do not want to use). Additionally, I was able to set up (through the Galaxy Wearable App) alerts from apps on my phone to my watch, such as Amazon (for package tracking), Arlo (for security), and Gmail / Yahoo mail. Keep in mind, the more apps you set up to alert you on the watch, the more your watch battery will drain (so choose what alerts you want wisely). As I previously mentioned, one of my favorite tracking functions is the stress measurement tool, which I found accurate. Ideally, if the watch finds that you have a moderate to high stress level, it will walk you through deep breathing exercises (I found this to help me). Also, I took the watch with me on a bike ride and found the distance/mileage tracking accurate, as I brought my phone with me to track my cycling (to compare it with MapMyRun). What was fun during my cycling was that I answered a call on my watch, and the person I spoke to heard me clearly. Speaking of calls / texts, I found the calling to be flawless. I did not experience any issues hearing other people talking to me, nor did anyone mention that they could not hear me during the conversation. I specifically worked on my lawn mower during a call, and I did not have the watch at my face to talk; the person I spoke to had no issue listening to me. Additionally, I used (after setting up google assistant) Google to ask to call from the watch. The watch was responsive, clear, and precise with calls. As great as the watch is, one issue I found was the texting. Yes, there are options to use swiping (from letter-to-letter) to insert words, but the keyboard I found was not as responsive. There were times where what I was typing (or deleting) the watch stopped or lagged when it could not keep up. Although this does not happen that often, it happened enough to where I had to back out of texting and reopen Google Messages to retype what I needed to write. When you use the Google play store on the watch, please note that not every app is functional with the Galaxy Watch 5. Meaning, apps such as Gmail, Yahoo mail, or MLB at Bat (as an example) are not compatible. Yes, you can set these as alerts, but there are limits with receiving alerts (that you set up via the Galaxy Wearable app for these apps). The email app I found was Outlook (which I use for work; there are other third party email apps you can choose too). Thankfully, I found the app functional; options such as "deleting emails" did not require me to open my phone (other emails I set up as alerts from Gmail and Yahoo mail asked me to open phone to continue). Again, this is not entirely a deal breaker for me, but I would like to see more apps compatible with the Galaxy Watch 5 in the future. The Galaxy Watch 5 is the newest watch from Samsung. With a Super AMOLED display, a better battery than it's predecessor, and fitness tracking options, users will want to pick this up -- if the returning users can get passed the non rotating bezel. The Galaxy 5 watch is the best smart watch on the market.

Pairs Perfectly With Samsung Galaxy Phones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is a perfect companion for Samsung Galaxy phones. The performance, design, and overall capability has impressed me, and everyone that I have shown it too. Even a few Apple watch users I know have given it a subtle approval. If you need a new smartwatch or have been on the fence, then this is the watch to get! Setup is easy peasy. Take it out of the box, turn it on and pair it with your phone. Download the watch App and the devices do the rest. Included in the box is a magnetic charger that plugs into a USB-C power adapter (which is not included). The magnetic lock is strong and feels quite secure when attached. Then the next step is to customize the watch settings. To Samsungs credit, there is a nearly limitless different possibilities. Take some time to explore and experiment with different App's and configurations to make the watch your own. I strongly recommend using the Samsung Health App because that allows the watch to provide biometric readings that are unique to the Health App. It is amazing to be able to effortlessly check health related information by glancing at one's wrist. One of the first things I noticed was the bright, colorful display. The precise specs are available in the specifications section, but the bottom line is that the display looks great and is easy to read. The touch screen is responsive and precise to operate. I am using it primarily as a convenient readout, but it can also be used to type messages. To do so it utilizes a finger swipe method which I am not fond of, so like I said I use my phone for messages. My model is LTE capable so cellular service can be added from your service provider. It cost me about an extra $10 a month to add the watch to my plan. I tested the LTE capability independent of the phone and yes it can send messages and make phone calls. But with all the limitations of operating a watch as the primary as opposed to a phone. I think the LTE feature would be especially useful in an emergency if your phone was damaged or lost. Samsung has completely exceeded my already high expectations. The Galaxy Watch 5 lives up to the hype and pairs perfectly to the Galaxy Phone. You can't go wrong by getting this watch! Very Strongly Recommended!!

Great Android Smartwatch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first smart watch and as I also own Samsung Galaxy S22+ phone, all I can say that I am very satisfied with it. It has a sleek design and fits well on my wrist. As I am an IT professional, I spend most of my working day on the keyboard. In the past, I didn't like wearing watches due to that as they feel heavy and uncomfortable while doing my work. But that is not the case with this one and it is a very good thing for me. It comes with Wear OS 3 and has all the standard features to track your bio-metrics and health. The setup was smooth and easy. As, I have Samsung phone, the integration was extra smooth, I guess. I like that there are a number of watch faces to choose from and even customize them. The glass is supposed to be stronger and scratch resilient than previous versions. So far, I have used it to measure the body-composition, heart rate and stress level and track my sleep. Sleep tracking was the another things that I was skeptical about as I wasn't sure how comfortable will it be to sleep with a watch on my wrist. But I don't really notice it while I am trying to sleep. The battery life is decent. I am able to get a little over 2 days without charging it but it also varies on my activity levels. I think on an average I will be charging it every morning as I get ready for my day. The user interface is good and responsive. It integrates well with other google services (e.g. gmail, maps and google assistant). There is a temperature sensor but it is not functional yet. Overall, it is a great smartwatch in my opinion.

Samsung Watch 5
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my latest move back to a Samsung Watch. I was an early adopter back a few years ago when Wear was in its early stages. At the time, I was not overly impressed. I was curious how the new health features on the 5 were going to be. I have always been a long time Samsung Phone user. I prefer Android and always have. I currently have the S22 Ultra. Setup of the watch was a breeze and the integration with the phone is much improved over the few years I have been away. Everything was seamless in the setup as far as automatically installing watch apps that matched the apps I had installed on the phone. I had already installed the latest version of Wear so I was ready. I went to do the Carrier connection since I have the option of LTE on this model. It did not complete and gave me an 800 number to call. I “assumed” this was Verizon since it even had a look alike Verizon colors and check mark. It ended up being a marking number that pushed me to try and switch to AT&T. I was not happy about it, tried to redo the steps several times to the same result. I then noticed that I has passed the Verizon Customer Service time and they had closed. I decided to skip for now since I could still get calls to the watch while connected to Bluetooth. I did have to install the Samsung Health app so that I could take advantage of those features and was especially interested in the Sleep Monitor. The watch is snappier in its performance than my previous Samsung watch from a couple years ago. Movement between screens, apps, back and forth, etc. was much smoother. I went into the app on the phone and downloaded about 5 more different watch faces. This is actually one of the things that I really love about these watches. The number of free cool and beautiful watch faces available is amazing. That, coupled with the ability to buy more for very reasonable $1-2 amounts is equally nice. It helps to keep the interface interesting and fresh. I am keeping the band that came with it for now. It’s fine and actually very comfortable, unlike previous ones I have used. The health features are great too. They coordinate with my Samsung Heath app. The sleep app is amazing but I have had a few different interactions with it. First of all, its amazing all the settings you have. I have it not only logging my different sleep periods ( Lite, Deep, REM, Awake). During this, it also calculates your Blood Oxygen while you sleep. One mixed blessing is, that it can calculate snoring. Well, I know I snore as my wife has told me over and over but this has the ability to not only track your snoring but record it ! As soon as it detects snoring, it can record it so you hear it too. These are amazing tools that help you be more aware of potential issues to discuss with your doctor as well as taking measures to increase better sleep. To me, this is a great value of the device. My experience as been spotty and I hope it will improve as I know this was just released. My first time trying it, it was perfect. It measured my sleep, my snoring and recorded my snoring and blood oxygen. The next night it didn’t record it at all, didn’t give me an error or anything. Then the next night I forgot to put it on after a shower and it obviously didn’t capture but I guess that based on my phone charging, it did pop up a notification asking “Did you sleep between the hours of 11:30pm and 7:45am?” and then it let me confirm to record. It will then record that sleep but you didn’t get the measurements because the watch was not actually being worn. I am hopefully as the app and software on the watch get updated that this will improve to be a more consistent and repeatable user experience. Overall I would recommend this, I am only giving 4 stars for now but if they get the sleep function working consistently, it will for sure get 5 from me!

Smart watch works good
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been looking at these for a long time and wanted to get one. Finally got this one and it seems to be a good device. I have always hated the bands that come with them but found you can change them pretty easily and cheaply. I ordered the new band even befor getting the watch which was great. The device itself has many things I want to keep track of and it was pretty easy to set up most things such as email , notifications, etc. The one thing I was unable to set up was the ECG traking. For some reason when you go to set it up and it links to the phone it says it doesn't like the browser and I should use Chrome but it's open in Chrome. Not really a big issue it's just another fun thing to have. I haven't had a chance to set it up with LTE yet through my carrier but as long as the phone is close by I can get texts and make and answer calls so that works for me. It does have some proprietary thing that you need a Samsung phone to use and I don't have a Samsung phone so I'm out of luck there unless I can find some other way of using those items. It's nothing major anyway. Watch faces were easy to change and most are free to use which is nice, Found one with weather, steps, battery and date besides the time of course. Still pretty new and getting used to using it but it seems to be a good device.

Cute Watch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the open box option and the product is exactly as described. It looked brand new and no scratches. I enjoy the ease of using it and the set up process. This is my 1st samsung watch. I am able to use it to make calls/answer if im close to my phone, i havent purchased a plan for it yet but i will eventually. The only thing i do not enjoy is the battery life. My fitbit battery lasted longer than this. You will have to charge it daily, max may be a day and a half before the battery goes low regardless of putting it in battery saver mode. All in all, im content with my purchase.

Still Running Strong
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this over a year ago to this review. I have banged this watch around and it is still in great shape. I've used it to monitor my steps, workouts, sleep, and keep a record of my activity. It's great in situations I don't want to bring my phone, and making and receiving calls are easy enough on such a small device, sound quality is good and had probably saved me from losing my phone on boating trips and hiking. It is great to have so I do not have to tote my cell phone around and don't have to worry about missing messages and call.

Great Watch short battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Watch short battery life. This is like a phone on your wrist. There are many apps to download and a few already there. My only complaint is the short battery life of about 50hrs. It charges in less than an hour though ..Super fast charges. Bought leather band and I love it.

Great Product!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here's some key points to know about this watch: Battery will last a couple of days if you wear it while you sleep. The watch can track steps, heart rate, sleeping patterns, and detect snoring. The watch has an internal storage so that you download and store songs. Sync your wireless headphones to your watch and you know have the perfect running setup. Also, if you have LTE service, you can still use it as a phone, to some extent. Overall, I think this is a great watch to own. My wife and I each have one now.
