Big, beautiful watch--but too big for some?

If you want a big, striking, beautiful smart watch that has the aesthetics and appeal of a large analog watch, then the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is for you. At 47mm and with large metal bezels, it's not for everyone, though. I'm an average size man, and it's *almost* too large and heavy at times. I got used to it wearing it over a week, but I am totally unable to sleep with a watch on even if it's smaller than this, so there was no way I could get to sleep with it on--the sensation of it being on keeps me awake. Setup is super easy with the Galaxy Wearable app. I was up and running in just a couple of minutes. As is probably obvious, this watch is aimed at Android users, especially those using Samsung's phones. (I tested the watch paired to a Galaxy S23 Ultra.) As noted, the watch is large, and its AMOLED screen is gorgeous. With the size and brightness, it's easy to read, something my middle aged eyes is grateful for. It also definitely catches attention. You can set the screen to be always on, or to save some battery life, it will turn off unless you take an action to reactivate it. I opted for the latter, and was very happy with the battery life. You'll need to charge maybe every day and half or so, depending on usage. I could see perhaps squeezing almost two days out. Charging is via a magnetic connector that fits onto the bottom of the watch and ends in a Type-C connector. No brick is included, which I actually found a little troublesome, because I don't have a lot of Type C chargers that aren't in constant use with phones or tablets. I do have a ton of Type A connectors around, so I may invest in an A to C adapter to make use of these. Feature-wise, it does all of the standard things one would expect in a modern smartwatch with regard to notifications and communication: email, texts, incoming phone calls, media controls, etc. All of these are well-executed and simple to navigate with the two side buttons or the bezel "wheel." Beyond those, however, exist a variety of sensors and trackers that make it an interesting health monitor. This makes it great for activity, but I find it looks aesthetically awkward for the gym--almost too formal or dressy. I did take it out hiking, and it automatically detected my activity and began tracking it. When I stopped, it stopped on its own as well and provided a summary of steps, distance, time, and calories burned. It measures your heart rate, but can go beyond that to also perform an ECG, which thankfully turned out normal for me. It can also measure your oxygen level, which was pretty awkward to figure out at first, but it matched what I got on my standalone pulse oximeter. I didn't do the sleep tracker because I've never been able to sleep with a watch on, digital or analog. Overall, if the look of this watch appeals to you and fits your body well, by all means put this at the top of your considerations. It's got a ton of features, a superb screen, great battery life, and a fast and smooth interface. Its large size is definitely eye-catching and it looks very similar to a very nice analog watch. Despite its heft, this is the best smart watch I've used and find it a home run by Samsung.

I really do love this watch, but I cannot give it a perfect 5 stars. Reasons below. First the good: - Great physical form factor. It feels very solid and rugged. The 1.5 inch AMOLED display is stunning! Very easy to see in bright sunlight. The 47 mm size is perfect for this average size guy's wrist, and the advertised 59g weight is fine (sleeping with it was ok). My previous watch from a competing OEM (at purchase time, the flagship) is a bit larger in diameter and thickness so I am thrilled this is smaller. The thinner bezel helps. As mentioned countlessly by others, the rotating bezel is fantastic. The only very small nit is that taking off the band to replace it with another can be tricky, but not too bad. It is very nice to be able to customize the physical home buttons (for instance, a double press of the home button will now bring up the Outlook App on the watch since I have configured it to do so). I am not a fan of the stock silver eco-leather band - it is a bit stiff - but I plan to purchase additional bands - especially for fitness. - Setup with my Galaxy phone went well. Pretty easy and intuitive. I have not "standardized" on the Samsung ecosystem, but this could nudge me in that direction (along with the great Galaxy integration with Windows via the Phone App). The Wear app was already on my phone so that was easy too. - Fairly easy changing watch faces with the "included" ones. I have not yet tried 3rd party faces but I trust they will be easy to use too since I think I probably will want to try others as the "stock" ones are meh IMHO. - Pairng, loading and listening to music directly from my watch on a pair of non-Samsung earbuds (previous watch did not have this) was easy. The controls are intuitive as well. I wish there was more memory for my 10K+ songs but the internal storage is currently acceptable. Specs say it has 16 GB, but really, there is less than half that available to load music. - Fitness tracking is great. Selecting an activity by rotating the bezel in the "Tiles" is great. It will auto start an excercise if you forget to start one and that is a nice feature. There is no Pickleball activity like my wife's watch from another compitor has, but I use Tennis for that. I have barely touched the surface on all the features/activities, but the ECG monitor, blood oxygen content, a sleep functions look to be excellent. The ECG (EKG) funciton needs a separate "Samsung Helath Monitor" App which is a bit cumbersome - why can't this just be part of the "Samsung Health App"? A nice feature is that it supposed to detect irregular heart beats and a-fib which would be life saving. - Heart rate monitoring is great - although it seems to be a bit high compared to my old watch and fitness machines I use that have HR monitoring. You will need to change the settings to continuous monitor the HR - or else it may update only every 10 minutes (although it does update in real time when doing an activity). I have not had the chance to swim with it yet, but I truly hope it does measure HR well while swimming (the watch has a water lock feature designed to reject water from the speaker which seems like a good feature). - I have just gotten started on sleep tracking. Looks very useful and it gives a number for your "sleep score". However my blood oxygen reading while sleeping was way lower than when I measured it manually. I'll have to look into that. I like that it has not detected snoring (YET), and I'm not sure what to make of the skin temperature reading yet. Apparantly there is a "sleep coaching" function you can use after seven days. I'll see how that works out. - Love the ability to snap a photo with my watch! - Processor performance appears to be excellent. No lags/jitters. - Body composition measurements seem pretty good and it will be great to track over time. They seem to be in line with my smart scale. There is no blood pressure monitoring. I believe it has the ability to do, but it is not regulated to do so in the US. This is disapointing. That is a good segue to the disappointing aspects: - No embedded golf activity. To me this is either overlooked or a giveaway to the paid golf app manufacturers. Samsung should include at least some rudimentary golf functionality "out of the box" like distances to front/middle/back of green, layup distances and shot distance tracking. If someone wants more, then they could get a 3rd party app (and possibly pay for the premium version). At setup, it asked if I wanted to install the Golf Pad app which I did. Then when I went to view it on my watch I got a message I needed the paid premium version (I could use the Golf Pad app on my phone, but I absolute need my watch to display the crucial distances on my wrist - not needing to look on my phone). Come on Samsung - give me something simple immediately. I understand the Watch 5 Pro had this....Why not the new flagship? The GPS function is already there! - There is no web based interface or portal to view your activity, sleep or health statistics. This should be standard as it is with other OEMs. It is so much nicer to view these items on a large screen and enter data with a full screen keyboard and then save to your local PC hard drive. There are many requests and much chatter about having a web based portal/interface on Samsung community forums, and this request has been ongoing for years, but Samsung has chosen to ignore the pleas. I cannot understand why. - I also think battery life is a bit wanting, but I have been using the "Always On" display for now as I get used to the watch. I am able to get at least a day of charge, but my wife's watch from a large competitor which also has an OLED color screen gets much more out of a charge. So in conclusion - this is an awesome watch. I am very happy to have it. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but no way does it get 5 without an "embedded" out of the box golf activity or a web based portal to view stats from activities and all the other great health data the watch provides. Samsung - please get on that!

Not much new but still the best smartwatch

If you can afford it, it is safe to argue, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic checks almost all the right boxes. It does not break much new ground in terms of looks or features but is probably one of the most capable smartwatches on the market, with robust health and exercise monitoring and coaching and tight smartphone integration, especially if you happen to have a Samsung phone. As with all previous new models, the 6 Classic includes a modest collection of tweaks that mostly make it bit better than the one that came before. Although perhaps the biggest "new" feature is a actually an old one that was oddly eliminated last year -- the rotating bezel. It allows you to easily move between the many screens of information on the 6 Classic (only the Classic has the bezel) Most longtime Samsung watch users will tell you the physical bezel is a much easier to use and is a more precise navigation tool than the finger swipe or virtual bezel, which was standard across all models last year. The premium Classic version is built around a sturdy stainless steel case this year (budget models are aluminium) and comes in two sizes (43mm and 47mm) and two colors: A polished silver with gray "faux leather" (plastic) band or black with a black band. Stick to the smaller model if you have a small wrist since the biggest-ever 47mm version is pretty bulky. If you are not crazy about those band choices, Samsung makes it a bit easier to swap them out this year. The small, hard- to- manage spring-loaded lug pin of earlier generation bands has been replaced with much larger release button. Sadly, it appears most of the more ecnomical third party bands still use the lug pin. The slightly larger 1.5 inch Super AMOLED screen is very bright with crisp saturated colors and is protected by a tough sapphire crystal. And thanks to the rotating bezel the screen is recessed a bit from the top edge of the watch, making accidental bumps and scratches less likely As before, the watch is water resistant to about 150 feet, so is good for swimming and the shower. I found the new default watch faces offered this year pretty ugly but fortunately there are lots of others to choose from and lots of them are free. I stuck with a black analog face with red sweep second hand I have been using on an earlier model. As for new features, well, the list is pretty short. The 6 Classic has fall detection for the first time, improved heart rate monitoring with automated warnings (if you turn them on), along with new, more extensive sleep monitoring. Everything from pulse to blood oxygen levels to skin temperature (new this year) and snoring (optional with phone) is monitored now and there is a new sleep coaching program built into the Samsung Health app. As before, the watch still has complete exercise monitoring. It keeps tabs on steps, time, pulse, distance traveled and calories burned as well as elevation changes. More than a dozen exercises are included and some, like walking, trigger automatically after 10 minutes. Others must be turned on manually. Each exercise session is saved in the Health app on the phone, along with maps of the route taken, real time health stats and even photos (must be added manually) if you want that level of detail. If you are upgrading from the earlier Samsung watch and also have a Samsung phone, you will very happy to find that process is now nearly effortless. Using Smartswitch, all data from your old watch, including watch faces, health and exercise info and even settings will migrate to the new one -- eventually. Most of that data downloaded in a few minutes but the health and exercise information took several hours perhaps because there is so much of it. I have been wearing Samsung watches for several years so there is a LOT of data. But with patience, you will find your new watch looks and works exactly like your old one, right down to the small settings tweaks you may have made before . That was a pleasant surprise.. I have been through watch upgrades several times and and this was by far the easiest. The only significant disappointment with the 6 Classic is battery capacity, which is less than last year's model: 425mAh on the 47mm version vs 590mAh in previous top Galaxy 5 Pro model. That's odd given how much bigger the 6 Classic is. Still, the new more efficient processor helps sqeeze a bit more life out of that battery so with the always on display option turned off, I can go about two days before recharging. As far as I am concerned, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic keeps its crown as one of the top smartwatches on the market. The hefty price may be a little difficult to swallow for some but it gets the job done on pretty much every level.

    The bezel is back

One of the more unique features that Samsung has added to their watches is the rotating bezel. While the touchscreen works very well, I've always felt the rotating bezel was a nice and intuitive way to interact with the watch. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic brings the rotating bezel back, and I think the watch is all the better for it. Navigating the watch feels snappy and easy as ever. The interface has been refined from the Watch 5 too. Adding and removing your favorite tiles is just as easy. But navigating through them is much easier and more precise with the rotating bezel. I think the exterior of the watch looks nicer with that slotted bezel too. It gives the watch a more elegant look. I think the only sort of strange issue, coming from the Watch 5 pro, is that battery life doesn't seem to be quite as good on the 6 classic. I could typically get about 2.5 days with the 5 pro, and I'm getting closer to 1.5 days with the 6 classic. I know the watch will adapt to my uses over time, so hopefully this will improve a bit. Overall, the watch is nice and stylish, along with being easier to use with the rotating bezel. Pros: sleek and elegant design, easy to use, happy to have the rotating bezel back Cons: less battery life than the 5 pro

Premium Smartwatch with a Few Drawbacks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic Stainless-Steel Smartwatch (47mm BT) and have been using it for a few weeks now. Here's my honest review of this premium smartwatch: The Galaxy Watch6 Classic is undeniably stylish and well-crafted. The stainless steel case exudes a premium feel, and the 47mm size feels substantial without being overly bulky. The rotating bezel is a fantastic addition, making navigation through the interface intuitive and enjoyable. The 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display is sharp, vibrant, and easily readable outdoors. The watch runs on Samsung's Tizen OS, which is responsive and smooth in daily use. The Exynos W920 processor ensures that apps open quickly, and there's minimal lag. However, there have been occasional hiccups, particularly when using third-party apps, which can be frustrating. The Galaxy Watch6 Classic offers a comprehensive suite of health and fitness tracking features. It accurately measures heart rate, sleep patterns, and stress levels. The built-in GPS is reliable for tracking outdoor workouts. However, some users may find the SpO2 sensor less accurate than dedicated medical devices. The battery life on this smartwatch has been somewhat disappointing. Samsung claims up to 2 days of usage, but I've found it falls short of that mark, especially with more active usage or using the always-on display. It requires daily charging, which can be a hassle compared to some competitors with longer battery life. The Galaxy Watch6 Classic syncs seamlessly with Samsung smartphones, offering a wide range of watch faces and third-party apps through the Galaxy Store. However, if you're using a non-Samsung Android device or an iPhone, the experience may not be as seamless, and the app selection is more limited. The watch supports wireless charging, making it convenient to top up the battery. It's also water-resistant, suitable for swimming and other water activities. The inclusion of the ECG and blood pressure monitoring features (available in select regions) is a big plus, though their accuracy may vary. The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic falls in the higher price range for smartwatches. While it offers a premium build and many features, the price may deter some potential buyers, especially when there are other competitive options available at lower price points. The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic is a premium smartwatch with an impressive design, solid performance, and an extensive array of health and fitness tracking features. However, it falls short in terms of battery life and may not be the best choice for users on a budget. If you value style and are deeply embedded in the Samsung ecosystem, this watch is worth considering, but those looking for more value for their money might want to explore other options.

This watch is nothing short of what I expected from it. It's very responsive, very stylish, and very functional. I'm coming from an older Galaxy Watch and this upgrade is very familiar to me. If you're coming from just a generation behind this watch, you might want to try it out first. The silver bezel on this new Watch 6 Classic is very nice and the bezel spin has a nice tactical feedback to it. The screen is huge and seeing it under sunlight isn't a big issue. I did find that it can run hot when the screen is used for a while, but it's not enough to become uncomfortable in. The band is easily replaceable so you can match your match with whatever your outfit is for the day. The built-in apps are great but some do fall a little bit into bloatware since I don't use all of it, but you can easily add in the apps you need on the watch and remove the ones you don't need. The health tracking on this watch is great and I find that the steps seem to be quite accurate. I didn't swim with this watch or anything, but tiny splashes of water or washing your hands with this watch will not break it or ruin its operation.

There are so many things I enjoy about this watch! The build equality is exceptional. It is not overly shiny or flashy. It feels sturdy and well-made. The wristband is not my favorite, but it does match and it's comfortable to wear. The 47mm size is perfect! I have large fingers so it's always a pain to maneuver through tech with small screens but this was a pretty good experience. That being said, the rotating bezel, which is arguably the best part, is great for people with big hands. It makes it ridiculously easy to use the watch and it looks awesome. Additionally, the screen is great for visibility outdoors. I couldn't find the actual data on Samsung's website, but it is visible in direct sunlight. The OS can get a bit laggy at times, but it's not terrible. You will need the Galaxy Watch app of course, but I found that you need a Samsung phone to fully utilize all the features. I use a Pixel so I found this a little frustrating. Additionally, there is no way to connect this watch to an iPhone so iOS users look elsewhere. Overall, this is a fun gadget and it looks great with the classic option.

Great watch, but not when upgrading from a galaxy watch 4 classic, at full price. I returned this one and got an open box silver style instead. The upgrades aren't worth paying that much for, but best buy has great open box deals sometimes so I went that route. Just ask to see it ;) Excellent battery compared to my watch 4 classic, and the feel of the strap, leather silicone hybrid or something is amazing. I swapped around the straps that came with it and it's much more comfortable than out of the box. I like that the watch is able to change direction of buttons and switch the orientation of the face. Color isn't as good, but still vibrant. More tracking features. I miss the watch 4 saying contextual greetings based on charge level or time of day, and the holidays or events like world water day or earth day.

I had serval of them got tired of putting the fitbit on charge to find out next morning it was (battery) dead. The Samsung is east to navigate from one built in feature to the next with the rotating bezel. Actually has buttons that are large enough you Actually can push them with ease.
