Works but ST integration minimal at best!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera works for video and has good picture quality even at 720p. The integration with Smartthings is minimal at best. The motion sensor parts of the camera are not controllable with ST and you need another motion sensor to trigger camera activities. I would recommend but you need to evaluate what you expect from it.

Great pics/video but terrible connectivity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SmartCam is very easy to set up and takes great pictures and videos. It has a lot of great features and includes web monitoring. The night vision is amazing. However, I have AT&T U-Verse and the camera will not stay connected. I called Samsung and they told me that my router connection wasn't stable and I needed to add a second router. I added one and no change. I called Samsung back two more times. They finally told me it must be the camera and o exchange it a Best Buy. I get the second home and the same thing happens. I recently bought a different brand and it stays connected perfectly but it is NOT the quality of the Samsung camera. I'm very disappointed that I am going to need to return this for a refund. Perhaps others have a better experience with other internet providers.

SmartCam HD Pro Wireless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased one camera to see how it really worked and if it was as good as some people have written on here. As it turns out, not only is it a good camera, it is a great camera. Easy to set up and install and easy to use. So easy I went back today and purchased one more for inside of the house and one for the outside. I will be purchasing at least 2 more for the outside at a later time. I highly recommend this product.

Works Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally started with the DLink full HD camera at the same price and couldn't get it to work, even with a DLink router. Gave the Samsung Smart HD camera a shot and connected within 5 minutes. A few things I have learned about using the Samsung camera which other reviewers missed and complained about. - To get the full setup options logon using the website SamsungSmartCam.com from there you can set a schedule day/time to receive notifications. - Yes you can turn off the Green LED light if you do not want the camera to stick out. - Link your Goggle email address and set up Picasa to receive notifications with a picture attached of what set off the motion alert. - Go to Samsingsv.com to download the full pdf. manual (39 pages) select your camera/Resource Downlaod/User Manual. - Account set up logon is separate from the camera password. A separate password can be assigned to camera. Activate Auto logon/Remember ID for account and assign a simple password for camera if needed. - Memory card, if the camera is not recognizing the card, format the micro memory card in a computer and format SAT. Important note: if you do not customize a notification schedule you will get bombarded with notifications. - Motion Sensitivity detection can also be customized. No I do not work for Samsung, but after the time (2 days and 3 hours on the phone with DLink) I am thrilled to have this work. Finally, I do get brief disconnect notifications but logs right back in immediately. Hey... it's a do it yourself home monitoring camera not a professional wired security system. For the price I feel I have a good product that gets the job done.

Simple Setup the First Time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially bought a D-Link and after a day of trying to set it up took back and replaced it with this Samsung SmartCam. Though the reviews were mediocre, we had such an easy time setting up on Mac, iPad, and iPhones. Kudos to Samsung. This camera also lets you record to SD card and receive notifications whenever there is movement or audio. We use this camera to monitor elder senior with dementia.

Excellent performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this camera in my front window for security purposes. It is motion activated and covers a wide field of vision. Performance is dependable and has easy viewing from PC or apt. Playback on the memory card is much better than on similar cameras. One drawback is the help team always has to call you back.

Terrible connection / setup.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have given it 2 stars, but I'm just so fed up with the wasting of my time in trying to get a product that swears to be simple, to just actually work like its supposed to. It setup correctly on the first try and I was blown away with the clarity and ease of setup, but after I unplugged it to mount it and then plugged it back in, it couldn't find the camera, so I went through the setup again, and for 2 hours could not get it to reconnect. Tried with an iPhone, iPad and an iPod. All different errors. Reset camera several times and even rebooted network. Another junk camera. Going to buy a drop cam in a minute like I wanted to in the first place.

Great cam with multiple features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this cam to keep an eye on my dog while I am at work. I downloaded the app and I was amazed by everything it does. It has great resolution, you can hear and talk through it, you can play music (to put your pet at ease or try to at least), you can zoom in and out and even has night mode (this is kinda scary since it looks straight out of a scary movie). With all the features and price, you cant get a better bang for your buck!

SmartThings Compatible Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this camera to integrate into my Samsung SmartThings Smart Home set up. This was so easy to install, once it found the internet, everything else was a breeze. The cool feature once it is integrated into SmartThings is that it records and saves the clips in the Home Dashboard screen whenever it tracks movement or one of the other sensors does.

Avoid other expensive cameras...A+++ here!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously owned the guardzilla junk and bought this exclusively because of the reputation of Samsung brand. This camera is solid in construction and functionality. I use this in my house monitoring an entryway. I had the motion sensor set at medium...it went off picking up a car outside which was approximately 30 to 40 feet away! Through a screened glass door! Image quality is great and doesn't require cloud services. The micro sim holds the info. The camera has weight to it... not cheap plastic. I'll be buying another soon. I paid $109. June 2017.

Too much work for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took awhile to initially set up. once set was complete connection intermittent. Has be be plugged into power at all times. No battery backup so won't work if power is out. When I unplugged to move it lost all settings so had to go through set up again. Can't always connect even with in the same room. Will be returning tomorrow. Just can't have something that's unreliable, And really makes no sense that it has doesn't retrain settings during a power outage.. I'm pretty good working with tech items but this was getting frustrated right from the gitgo. Even the SmartCam app and account was frustrating to setup.

Good camera / Bad website and servers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Smartcam has a lot of great features that work well. It is rendered useless because of the Samsung website for computers, iphones and androids. You can not have access to your cameras remotely for more than 12-24 hours before the Samsung web site goes down. Since I have been using them I have never had the email notification work. Look at other camera options.

Caution with OS X 10.11 El Capitan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine with OS X 10.10 Yosemite but then I upgraded to El Capitan and the browser plug-in became incompatible. Sent email to Samsung support but no response yet. Tried the SamsungSV support phone number but it is not answered and the voicemail is full. BTW, the plugin is not compatible with any version of Chrome so you cannot view the camera video with that.

UNRELIABLE MONITOR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this video monitor if you are looking for a reliable wifi camera! I read the reviews before buying this, and people are right--the server is NOT consistent and I'm continuously getting kicked off of not only the live feed, but also the app itself that you need to download to view it. I bought this monitor for my baby's room, and am now trying to return it because it's NOT reliable at all. I'm so frustrated with Best Buy as well because of their 15 day return policy...how stupid to have short of a return policy when you are selling expensive items! Now I'm having to deal with Samsung directly to try and return this 20 day old monitor, and trust me, they are NOT easy to deal with either. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS MONITOR.

Can't get software to work on my laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The software won't work on my laptop. I've downloaded the plug-in, installed it, uninstalled it, etc and I get the same message every time that I need the plug-in. Apparently something happened where Chrome no longer supports plug-ins, but this issue has been around a long time now and no resolution. I can view video on my phone or iPad, but not on my computer. Overall, the video quality is pretty good, but I would definitely explore other brands for their software/playback ease before buying this product again. It's just way too clunky for this day and age.

Poor reliability, terrible tech support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera would continually disconnect. Couldn't count on it to work, and we needed it to watch our 7-month old. WORST tech support ever. Tried three times to get some support, always told we would get a call back, never did. Last time waited two days. Stay away from this camera. Try DLink. 24/7 support, nice camera, short wait for a tech.

Firmware Update Disabled Video Recording to NAS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything good about the camera was negated by the latest firmware update. The older reviews on this product need to be updated to mention this. Samsung's latest firmware update to the SmartCam works as a kind of malware which disables the original standard features of the cameras and forces users to pay to have it fixed or pay for their cloud service which was suspiciously announced at the same time the destructive firmware was released. Here is my issue; corresponding with the announcement of Samsung's paid SmartCloud service, a firmware update was released by Samsung which removed the cameras' ability to record to a local location (like a computer, server or Network Area Storage device). This was done by blocking local streaming through port 80. Such an action was obviously intentional and the motive is clear; to force people to pay for streamed recording through the newly announced SmartCloud service. While many SmartCam users are probably beginners with security camera systems, only buying one to keep an eye on their infant or babysitter, there are still thousands who are advanced enough to have set up dozens of SmartCams and had them recording to a local device using port 80. When Samsung released their firmware update, they turned their back on all these loyal customers and left them with homes and businesses that were no longer under surveillance. I have personally heard from quite a few SmartCam users that their initial assumption was that Samsung would never have done this intentionally to their loyal customers. They assumed, at first, that it must have just been some mistake on their part but after some troubleshooting, they realized that other cameras from Axis, Foscam, D-Link, Belkin, Cisco, JVC, Panasonic and even Canon were all working just fine on the same setup. This is when they realized that the problem originated from the Samsung cameras and particularly from the firmware update that rendered this once-great camera useless. They realized that this was not an accident, but a deliberate attack on devices that had already been purchased to make them less capable of doing the job they were purchased fair and square for. The two reasons users like me bought SmartCams instead of their competitors cameras is that they would work with local streaming and they *trusted* the Samsung name. For example, I am typing this on a Samsung laptop with Samsung memory, and sitting next to my laptop is my Samsung smartphone. Samsung used to be a brand we could trust. Many advanced users still may not realize that their homes and businesses are not under surveillance and still some may not have updated their firmware yet and might not know that the next firmware update contains a virtual bomb which will dismantle their entire security system requiring the user to pay for Samsung's expensive cloud service as a sort of ransom to continue using the cameras they already paid fair and square for. This is the kind of behavior we would expect from a malicious hacker, not a reputable manufacturer. For SmartCam users who have dozens of SmartCams already set up and recording to their own server, paying $200 a year per camera (even $100 a year for additional cameras) is not an option. Samsung is not going to keep these people as loyal customers while using firmware updates as extortion. Samsung's only making enemies out of these once loyal customers and they are going to tell everyone they know and everyone they install cameras for that Samsung cameras are not an option. You can also expect them to leave negative reviews everywhere they can find. After all, what would you expect when you take thousands of dollars from someone for a product and then remotely disable that product after you have their money? Expecting us to give Samsung more money would be silly.
