The sensor would not recognize motion even from 2 feet away, Had to return it and get a different brand.

Wonderful piece of the System

This is a great piece of the Smartthings monitoring system. It works great. We're actually using instead of the door sensors so that it captures any motion, not just the door opening. The door and window frames didn't fit the sensors anyway, and this was the compromise. It's even better because we have a glass door and someone could break through and not trigger a door sensor. This works great in all my testing.

Using it with a Wink gen 2 hub. The sensor was simple to install and thoughtfully designed and packaged. It’s compact and includes a wall plate, screws and anchors as well as a small mounting template. It speaks directly to my Wink hub and avoids the lag associated with having to go out to IFTTT to trigger lights and Wink “robots” (macros). I’ll be adding more soon.

We use our in our master closet. It works great there. I tried it in some other rooms just to test it out and you have to get really close like 10 feet away for it to pick the motion.

Save your money. This system promised the moon, and while the earlier version never lived up to the hype, it was pretty good. Unfortunately ST dumped v2 on the world, and has now broken everything that made ST useful. They've taken away beloved features, made the app so bad it has one of the lowest ratings I've ever seen on Apple's app store.
You can now only have one user, so if you want anyone else in your family to be able to use it, you're out of luck.

Becoming faulty after battery replacement

I have been using this system over a year now and all the battery life needs to be replaced one by one. I have 12 senors from doors to motion. The battery life will never be at zero or will it notify you that the battery is low. Once the battery life becomes really low, the device will start triggering false notifications. That is when you know you will have to replace it. You will have to replace it with a Panasonic or Duracell 2450 it says on the senor itself. I went ahead and bought sleeves of Duracell batteries, replacing the first few senors with fresh unexpired batteries but after replacing them with the fresh batteries I still receive false notifications. My other half of the sensors started to die out one by one so I bought all Panasonic batteries for them and they are starting to either give false notification or starts die again. I am beginning to think that it's a problem with the sensor itself.

Poor motion sensing. I have the old version of this sensor that came bundled with the hub. When setting the old motion sensor next to this new one, the old one will consistently senses me walking by, while the new version will only sense motion a quarter of the time.
