Pros: easy to setup, great sound quality, easily connects to and works with Samsung products
Cons: I am fine adding onto a sound bar with additional after market pieces if it improves the surround sound experience. The new Samsung Subwoofer that pairs with the Soundbar is a great example of that. My only complaint is that Samsung hasn't put out high quality loud or surround sound speakers that can be added as well.
The loud speaker set offered right now actually dimishes part of the sound quality of the bar. I would like to add additional quality speakers to the MS650 that can be paired with the SWA-W700....I just don't like the quality of the SWA-9000s.
Samsung make better surround sound speakers so I can add on to my sound bar.

Amazing Soundbar, Great Upgrade from TV speakers

TV's these days have excellent picture quality but a lot of them suffer from below-average speakers with lousy sound. The Samsung 3-Channel Hi-Res Soundbar will upgrade your sound from lame to amazing in just minutes. Connection was easy using the optical cable and once I turned it on I was stunned, particularly by the bass. I don't know how Samsung does it, but this long, slender soundbar puts out some serious bass! This soundbar replaced our previous soundbar system which had a separate subwoofer and honestly produced more bass than this sound bar. But the overall sound coming from this one is better than our previous system, the bass is more than adequate, and the ugly speaker wires from our previous system have been eliminated.
Excellent stereo sound is produced and if you want surround you can always purchase the separate satellite speakers. The remote is easy to use and I love the digital read-out on the speaker that shows you the volume and bass settings when you are adjusting them. I didn't end up mounting it on the wall since it fits in front of our TV perfectly, see picture. I think Gilligan was stunned by the sound, too :)
Overall, this is a very impressive soundbar and a great upgrade over my previous system as well as eliminating all of those ugly wires.

Solid performance from a one piece unit

Had to switch from a sound bar with a separate sub to one with a built in sub due to new furniture configuration. Did a lot of research and this unit had very good reviews. Plus, I was in the market for a new Samsung QLED TV, so I figured this would work well.
Overall, I’m happy with the performance. It has solid, but not rumbling bass, which is fine for me (my dog gets terrified when its to bassy anyway).
You can add a Samsung Wireless sub and/Samung wireless surround speakers but I dont plan too.
I like the different pre-set modes for sound and especially Samrt mode which automatically picks the best equalizer setting based on what audio signal it is receiving.
It works well with the Samsung QLED TV.
It doesn't get terribly loud but certainly loud enough for most, me included.
Bluetooth is a cool feature and i can play music from my smartphone pandora app on it. Music sounds good on it. But again, not too bassy.
The unit is a little on the large side. So, check your dimensions. I have the sound bar sitting in front of the tv on a shelf in a wall unit and the sound bar blocks the bottom inch or two of the tv screen, so i have to mount the tv or place it on a pedestal of some sort to raise it up a bit (you would think that Samsung would design a 2017 sound bar to fit perfectly in front of a 2017 Samsung TV without blocking the bottom of the screen). Also, the design is not that attractive, just a big rectangle. Could have thrown a curve or two into the design so my wife didn't have to say “is THAT the new sound bar? why is it so big?” I have to agree its not the most attractive design but i guess the built in sub necessitates a larger unit.
Overall, i like it. It gives me what i need, but if your more if an audiofile you’ll at least want to add the separate wireless sub. Or go with the next model up (which is an even bigger rectangle).
Overall 4 stars.

This sound bar sounds really good. The bass is very impressive and it gets quite loud. Music and tv shows are perfect on this. Movies sound great but if your used to a seperate subwoofer, this might not be enough. All in all it's great.

This Samsung Sound Bar hooked up effortlessly to my Samsung 4K TV and fits nicely just below the unit. It has a minimalist look, which is perfect for my Great Room. The bass (woofer) comes across very well, which obviates the need to install a separate woofer. Finally, I was able to get this device for $ 50 below the msrp, so it was a no-brainer.

I was looking for a more modern, minimalistic, and affordable sound bar that didn't take much space and looked good in my living room-I got it with this unit. I like the fact that I can stream wirelessly and through Bluetooth from any mobile device and computer (as in when I listen to music. I like the sound and volume which is more than I expected from this small unit.

Bought this after my old samsung sounder died after 2 years of service. I can say that this sounds incredible with clear highs and mids. I took away one star as the bass is non existent in low volumes. But in high volumes the bass effect reminds you of its presence and it is just perfect not overwhelming.

Setup was very easy for this soundbar. It linked immediately to my TV & Bluetooth on my Mac so I am able to stream my various music content; radio stations, iTunes, Spotify, etc. through it. Easily fills the great room in my condo with music which saves on buying another Bluetooth speaker. Wish I could get a little more base, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, but I did not want a separate subwoofer. Lots of audio options for customizing your sound. Clear Voice setting works well for TV which is a big plus.

Soundbar, very well made, heavy, attractive. Matched with new Samsung 8000 series TV. Price match took 33% off list price. HDMI hook-up was simple with Samsung app. Stream Amazon prime music. Hook-up with Alexa app, just follow instructions. Also stream Amazon music thru Amazon Fire box attached to TV. Sound is very good, did not want subwoofer. Normal TV volume is 10-15, music is 20-50, 100 is maximum volume. Will rattle your windows at high volume. Very clear center channel on TV voices.

My TV's anemic on-board audio simply lacked focus and oomph in the large room in which it is set up. I first tried hooking up a stereo system I already had (using a digital to analog converter). That yielded plenty of volume (along with a rat's nest of wires), but still lacked clarity and detail. Having read reviews of various soundbars I decided to check out the Samsung MS650. Unfortunately, Best Buy did not have it set up so that I could compare it side-by-side with competing products. It was connected to a Samsung TV and played a demo designed to promote the TV rather than the soundbar. Yet, what I heard was impressive enough that emboldened by the professional reviews I had read, I decided to take a chance and bought it. Set-up using the supplied optical cable was a snap. The only wrinkle was that the soundbar is tall enough that it covered a bit of the lower portion of the TV screen. I cut down the Styrofoam cocoon the soundbar had been packed in and placed it under the TV to raise it. Perfect! The result is clean, detailed audio that belies the size of the unit. This does not produce the kind of heart-stopping bass that one hears in the theater, yet it is surprisingly good. Action films have punch, and the orchestral soundtrack in Fantasia 2000 is quite satisfying. I find that the available sound modes are useful in tailoring the sound to personal preference, and the Surround mode is effective in expanding the sound stage. Although I was unable to compare the Samsung directly with either of the comparable Bose or Sonos products (both of which sell for $699), my impression is that the Samsung would hold its own quite well in comparison. Finally, Best Buy was willing, if not thrilled, to match Amazon's $399 price. If one feels the need, there is a wireless sub-woofer available that complements the MS650, but at present it appears to be available only through the Samsung website.

I love this soundbar. The built-in sub-woofer means that you can eliminate more cables. The sound is fantastic and the ability to have different inputs is fantastic. We use D-In, Wifi, and BT. Greatness!

This sound bar is amazing and has great sound and bass for just being a sound bar. I was worried that I would need to also purchase the sub-woofer, but it meets my needs and exceeds my expectations. I know it is a bit pricey, but 100% worth it. My only complaint is attempting to hook it up to Alexa... Good luck maybe with a few more software updates they will work out the kinks. It is bigger than i thought though,so be aware of it's size!

This Samsung soundbar is excellent. We have it in a room that's about 18'x25' and the sound fills the room. The bass is great. Since the subwoofer is built-in, the soundbar blends in with the TV and is hardly noticeable. The setup was relatively easy. It is a great addition to our 4K TV and truly enhances watching movies. Hard to beat the quality and functionality at this price point. I recommend this one!

I know I am reviewing an ancient product that can't be bought new anymore, but I found this baby as an open box unit. I paid 170 for this speaker, so that is also factored in. When this came out I remember going and hearing the demo setup with the subwoofer and surrounds and was blown away by the quality of the audio reproduced. Even then it was behind the times as far as home theater features, BUT AGAIN, the QUALITY of the audio that is reproduced is still among the top soundbars out there, just no Atmos or other fancy features. It does have HDMI in plus HDMI out/ARC, so that helps. But for the 170, I can hear AND enjoy tv, movies And music. I have seen the sub open box for around 120, and surround speakers for around 90. So for less than 500 dollars you could put together one hell of a sound system.

Purchased this soundbar for my father, as his hearing is getting worse and he cranked his TV's internal speakers to max just trying to distinguish voice vs. background. The sound bar allows him to hear at much lower volume levels, since it gives center channel voice separate from background with much higher fidelity than built-in speakers. Disappointed in the lack of bass. It's also annoying that it doesn't remember the previous volume level--it always returns to 20% at power up, and Dad normally cranks it up to 50%

Did some research on soundbars and waited for it to go on sale. Real easy hookup and has the ability to add more speakers. It delivers a really nice sound to replace using the built in TV speakers. It sounds great to me by itself but I took advantage of Samsungs black Friday week sale and bought the complimenting wireless rear speakers and also the wireless sub-woofer. Wow! Using Samsungs multiroom App added the ability to update the speakers firmware and also made this speaker available for adding other Samsung wireless speakers for the whole house.

Bought this for my father. He loves it! It has great sound quality when paired with the subwoofer and rear speakers. If you are looking for just a sound bar it still has great quality but the other things really add to it. The installation was super easy with an all Samsung setup. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice addition to their TV or to purchase as a set for a home theater system. You can’t beat it for the money, yes there are some that are better but they run close to 800-1000 dollars.

Let me start by saying that this sound bar has fully met my expectations. That said, while it has "surround mode" it does not project sounds across the room in a way that makes the action sound like it is actually around the room, nor did I expect it to (it is a sound bar, after all). It also doesn't have earth shaking bass, but the lows are pretty respectable. With those points out of the way, the quality of sound and sheer volume are really impressive for a system that is fully contained in the bar with no additional speakers. The high pitch sound of glass shattering and sprinkling to the ground is crisp, and in heavy action scenes there is plenty of punch and clarity. I'm using this as a replacement for an old, wired 5.1 system in my basement home theatre and it fits the bill perfectly. I will say it is a heavy bar, so plan for that aspect if you're mounting it.
Pros: Sound quality, clarity, volume, and value
Cons: heavy, needs subwoofer if you want to shake the fillings out of your teeth

I’ve in house tested the following from 3 to 10 days.
Sony ct800
Sony htnt5
Yamaha y207
Vizio 4531
I have owned the Vizio 3821 for 3 years.
I do not intend to put down these bars on this forum.if someone would like my opinion on any of these bars thru email I would be glad to provide feedback.
On the Ms 650.
My hardware: Sony XBR65X900E
Sony UBPX800
Motorola DVR
Amazon Echo 2
Pros 15 minute install, full control with Sony tv remote and Alexa.
After installing Smart Things.im not an audio file but do have decent ears access to some pretty sophisticated audio equipment.
I know audio is subjective but for pure music this ting must be heard to be believed..in the smart mode normal listening volume
Is 15, 30-40 is concert level with no distortion.
Con.The bass is very good for 90% of my needs but Jazz music would benefit from the sub as would sci-fi and westerns.
Will be looking for Back Friday deals as the sub is a little pricey now
