    Just OK - I didn't find it having much better sound than speakers in my Samsung TV. I returned and spent a little more money for the Bose SoundTouch 300.

    The Direct TV remote would not turn sound bar on and volume control indicators on tv would not always appear on left side of screen. Sound quality was not what I had hoped for, not much better then the Samsung TV speakers.

      Please know that you can use the Direct TV remote to turn on the sound bar and control the volume with the following setup:
      1> The Direct TV box is connected to the Samsung TV OneConnect box via HDMI
      2> The MS650 sound bar is connected to the Samsung TV via HDMI ARC or Bluetooth

    The sound quality is good but it never reaches the depth and volume levels that I want from my movies and music. The rear speaker kit is terrible, barely noticable even in surround mode. I'm now waiting for the upcoming seperate subwoofer that Samsung says is due out soon.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Wireless Rear Loud Speakers. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.

      Please know that by design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.

      However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:

      1. Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
      2. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE.
      3. Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode.
      4. Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control.

      As for the random disconnection between Soundbar and subwoofer, placement of the devices is often an important factor. Please try to bring the units closer together, and move large items that are in between the line of sight of each other.

    The Samsung HW-MS650 is one of many sound bars offered by Samsung. It is third from the top of line and , in my opinion, offers the most bang for the buck. You name it, it has it – 4K, HDMI, bluetooth, optical , power pass through for TV and more. Let’s review the basics - Construction - The build of this soundbar is typical of Samsung. Solid, well finished design in gun metal color. It is a bit heavier than I expected, a testament to all that is packed into the HW-MS650 Soundbar. If you are thinking about mounting it, consider the all in one wall mount from Samsung that supports both a TV and soundbar. I would be leary of trying to mount it any other way because of the weight. Setup - Setup was easy. I have a late 2016 model ( 8 series.) I put the sound bar in bluetooth pairing mode and went into the set up for the TV audio, selected bluetooth audio output as the device and it was connected. Literally, 20 seconds from putting the HW-MS650 Soundbar into bluetooth pairing. One thing about the Samsung products, they work well together. Performance - The overall sound is very good. Lows, mids and highs were crisp and clear with no distortion at high volumes. The bass is a bit weaker than I expected but still decent. I think I had the wrong expectations when I saw the subwoofer was built in . The reality is any device of this size and all in one design will never have the same thumping of a high quality separate subwoofer. But in the end, it does not matter to me . It is the quality of the sound that is important. TV movies sounded good but music really popped. I was not sure why it sounded even better so I changed the audio settings of the TV/Soundbar to surround sound. The change evened it out a bit but the music still sounded better. The Samsung HW-MS650 is a well built, multi featured sound bar with tons of connectivity options. It is not going to blow your mind with power but it does make your TV sound better than the built in speakers. But as good as it sound for movies - music and my XBox really sounded great. I cannot tell you why but there is a noticeable, powerful difference for both. It must be a setting but I have not figured it out yet. It is not that the TV sound was not good, it really is . It is just music and XBox sounded better to me . At this price point and features, you really cannot beat it. I recommend it.

      Have you tried the Surround sound control that adds depth and a sense of space to the sound effect?

      There is a dedicated button for the control on the remote, located on the left just below the Play button, and is labeled "Surround".
      Each time you press this button, ON and OFF alternate. When it is ON, the unit play sound over all the speakers.
      When it is OFF, you can hear the sound of the original source channel from several speakers.

      A possible cause may be that the Soundbar is not placed with the SAMSUNG logo facing up towards the ceiling. If you position the soundbar with the logo facing up, you will see the display/status panel and the speakers will be facing outward. (Refer to product photos on BestBuy.com and zoom in on the photos) If you have incorrectly placed the soundbar with the display side down and the SAMSUNG logo perpendicular to the floor, you will experience muffled or low quality sound because the unit will be resting on the speakers.

    I am quite impressed with the Samsung - 3-Channel Hi-Res Sound bar with Built-in Subwoofer - Dark Titan/Sterling Silver speaker bar. Great quality sound. Judging by the weight of the speaker bar it is packed with high quality speakers. It has pass through HDMI 4K ARC, optical audio, 1/8th audio in and a pass through 115 volt electrical connection so you can connect other devices. It is Bluetooth enabled, but I didn't try it. I have a good 5.1 audio system with a subwoofer that I feed with an optical audio cable from my Samsung TV. I just disconnected my center speaker from my system and placed the sound bar below the TV. It is about 4 inches high. I then pulled the optical cable from my Denon receiver and plugged it into the Samsung sound bar. The remote allows you to adjust the intensity of the subwoofer that is built in and the audio volume. It also has settings for audio modes including clear voice. You can turn the simulated surround sound on also. By itself it is more than adequate for most programing. If you only have been using the speakers on your TV you will be blown away by the increase in the quality of the sound. Granted it can't compete with a true surround system for watching movies, but it does very well. My complaint with a lot of movies is that they overdo the soundtrack volume and the voice audio gets lost in the process. This got me to start thinking why not just leave the sound bar as a substitute for my 5.1 center speaker and then I can control the volume of the surround and the voices. There is no way to connect the bar to my receiver so I just used an optical cable splitter and fed both the sound bar and the receiver from the optical out from the TV. Perfect syncing of sound between the receiver and the sound bar. I run the speaker bar on clear voice and adjust the volume of the voice with the sound bar volume control and the surround volume with the receiver volume. What a Eureka moment it was when I fired it up. I had a good center speaker, but the quality of the Samsung bar is far better than my center speaker was and now I can control the volume to suit me regardless of the programing. Probably the same result could be achieved by HDMI, but I have found that optical is more reliable for syncing the audio to multiple devices than HDMI. So in summation the sound bar is a quality speaker by itself, or as a substitute for your center speaker in your surround system.

    i must say this sound bar is amazing. the only downside I have is that the bass is not the best. it is built into the bar, so not very big. that said, you can link this up with more speakers. the Bluetooth range seemed pretty decent. and you can connect it with wifi. sound is pretty clear and pretty good. and it gets pretty loud. it goes from 0-100 and I had it at 15 and it was loud. has a lot of options on the back for different connection types.     Pros: Good Sound Quality, Ease of Connectivity/Samsung Integration, style/Design, Single Samsung remote control, Decent Base Response, Large Sound Dynamic Range Cons: Price/Value, Weight I got this sound bar for my master bedroom where the generic tv speakers were not cutting it. However, to really evaluate the quality of the sound bar I first set it up and tested the unit in my living room (12’x26’) where my current surround sound system is located. I like to use Jurassic Park Chapter 11 (where the T-Rex is leaving his pen) to evaluate sound systems as it has a wide range of sound effects spanning multiple frequency ranges. My television in this room is a Samsung 55” (UN55H6350AFXZA) with my existing surround sound being a Pioneer 5.1 surround receiver with Onkyo speakers and a 400W 10” active Sub. The tv speakers are generally underwhelming. The down-firing configuration tends to wash out much of the speakers creating a limited effective dynamic range of sound. The rain is audible but not entirely crisp and the T-Rex’s roar as well as footsteps would have trouble scaring a 5 year old. The other end of the spectrum is my existing sound system. The rain itself and cable snapping is crisp and immersive in the 5.1 surround environment. The active sub resonates to allow you to really feel as if the T-Rex is walking towards you and the roar is over whelming and fills the room. The MS650 falls in-between these two extremes, laying much closer to my existing surround sound system. The sound bar does a great job of replicating sounds across a wide dynamic range of frequencies allowing the rain drops to be crisp and the roar of the T-Rex to be deep. Understandably though, the bass associated with the footsteps is attenuated relative to a standalone sub but is far greater than no low frequency dedicated speaker system found in most sound bars or the lack of a sub all together. Where this sound bar really shined to me was watching cable television or Netflix shows; where a full surround system can be overkill. Moreover, the MS650 integrates nicely with my tv such that I was able to use the tv remote to adjust the volume of the sound bar. As an aside, I did have difficulty using the ARC functionality of the sound bar/tv and thus connected the two via digital optical cable. I am unsure if this is why the sound bar does not turn off when the tv is turned off but the sound bar will turn on when the tv is turned on. Ultimately, this is a nice quality sound bar that fairly accurately reproduces the dynamic sounds encounter during movie and television shows; all in one convenient package. The main drawback of the MS650 is the price point. There are many options available at this price or less that will likely perform comparably; many of which have a dedicated sub. For many users, the difference between lower priced sound packages and the MS650 in terms of performance will be hard to identify.

    The sound bar disconnects after a short time if I have to pause a program for any reason. The WiFi doesn't do this but then the issue is the initial connection when powering on. Would not recommend until there is a fix for the ARC disconnect.
