Small & fast. Solid investment.

Like if you're on your couch and have the laptop in your lap and the drive is just hanging over your leg, touching the couch, this will get hot to the point where it's uncomfortable to hold. Think hotter than a disposable hand warmer. The concern there is that heat kills these devices. But if it's well ventilated, no concerns. I now use it with my Mac mini and keep this and another one on top of the mini and the metal of the mini draws the heat away from the drives.

Using on the latest Intel Mac and consistently get 600 MB/s+. It does get a little hot under heavy load, but I saw no performance decrease. The aluminum likely helps dissipate the heat.
